Speaking of which managed my best commute average since the remap of 46.1mpg on my way home which is slightly uphill so should be easier to get a better result going to work (slightly downhill). This narrowly beats the 134 mile drive to Essex in February when it was still standard of 45.9mpg. Changing track completely I was lucky enough to be driven around Oulton Park in 1983 by Derek Bell's son Justin who was a work's Dodge Viper driver as a result of winning a competition in Autocar magazine. The reason I mention this is that there is a connection between the Lambo Diablo and the Viper because Tom Gale designed both cars and Lamborghini developed the road Viper's engine from it's original truck application and the 8.0 litre V10 originally developed 400bhp in the roadster I was driven in on track. The Press car had an amusing registration also "WOW 110T" which had a black screw cap placed between the 2 ones to make it read WOW HOT. The Michelin tyres were incredibly wide and expensive at the time, the front being 275mm wide and the rears 335mm.:nerd:

Day 106 and I think someone has stolen my petrol engine and replaced it with a diesel because according to Skoda my car shouldn’t be able to do this on my commute with climate control on and set to 18C. Current mileage now 8,799.

Think I spotted you on the M1 recently :D

My best number so far is 39 mpg in Eco mode and it drops to at least 33 mpg in sport mode.

That's why I avoid Sport mode because it may be fun but keeps the revs high, the gear low for maximum acceleration all the time which is not required on a mapped car when 460nm is available from as little as 2,000rpm. Even in Eco mode it can embarrass a new Cupra Leon.

I need a remap.

Current tank 330 miles driven (on very empty roads) with 285 miles left. Indicated average since refuelling 40.4mpg (my computer normally under reads (pessimistic). If I manage 625 miles on this tank that is the holy grail for a 272/280 Superb of 1,000km on a 66 litre tank.

Giving the Superb a weeks rest and using the wife's Karoq for my next 3 shifts to give it a run and top up the battery. Got 52.5mpg on the commute today. Superb due it's first free service in 7,400 miles which will make it around 16,200 miles and November time.B)

I’ve had my best mileage out a full tank helped by less traffic on the roads. Its nothing compared to what you are getting shy but a respectable 35.8mpg with a few heavy foot moments thrown in.

Discussing with the wife that during lockdown her car is just sitting in the drive as she can't do any home visits because of a lack of PPE for Social Workers so it makes sense to use her Kaoq for my 3 day shifts and the Superb for my 3 nights so as long as this present situation lasts I will be doing just 162 miles in each car every 9 days keeping the batteries topped up but keeping the mileage down on both stretching the service intervals also. Love to compare my Superb with premium German alternatives and just read about the £44,315 Mercedes AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake with standard 18" alloys (19" are optional of course) that comes with 4WD and a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox and 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine like the 272. It also has identical fuel economy between 37-42mpg (161g/km CO2). With 302bhp and 400nm it manages 0-62mph (100kph) in 4.9 seconds and top speed is 168mph. This shows that at just over £24,000 including my remap (with just 4,901 miles on the clock) what an absolute bargain the Superb is with a 0-60mph time of 4.3seconds and a maximum speed over 170mph thanks to an extra 58bhp and 114nm of torque, not forgetting 38+MPG over 4,000 miles so far. My insurance is only £265 due next month even surprised me as the wife's Karoq 148bhp petrol is £207 for both of us to drive.:biggrin:The CLA despite being an estate car has a boot of 514 litres compared to my hatch capacity of 625 litres and way more rear leg and headroom of course.:)

I see your photoshop skills have improved since the last time I checked this thread ;) Absolutely outrageous stats! Very impressive, but it makes me wonder what the other 16 points on the eco score were that you're missing out on, haha.

I've had a couple of good runs recently where I've topped out at 41.5mpg, straight runs up and down the M1 very early in the morning (for work). Still nothing like nearly 50mpg though! Insurance is due again in June, seriously wondering about adapting it with a remap at the same time seen as it runs out of warranty then too

Yeah never managed higher than 88 green leaves even when I managed to squeeze 63mpg out of the wife's Karoq petrol. Convinced remapped car's give better consumption as the only long run the car did as standard yielded 45.9mpg but 47.8mpg on my short commute is ridiculous.:D

I very much doubt that even in Sport mode it could embarrass an equally remapped Cupra Leon or Leon Cupra!

They wouldn't do more than early 30's mpg though so you can have that badge.

It was a metallic red one with the gold Cupra emblem on the boot of the hatch (not the ST 4WD estate)

Now, if you'd mentioned noting the badge on the bonnet (i.e. through your rear view mirror) I'd have given you credit, but being able to view the badge on the bootlid means only one thing... :D

If you want the full story he was behind me approaching a roundabout where we both turned left onto a dual carriageway. He was surprised at the speed I took the roundabout and shot up to the limit of 70mph. His foot was planted as he went past me well over the speed limit at which point I saw the gold Cupra badge noting it was one of the latest models and not a SEAT. Unfortunately for him the traffic lights at the next roundabout went red and he had to stop. It was when these lights went green that he got a good look at the Skoda badge on my boot. Some people don't get the message first time so you have to remind them that a Hot Hatch is not always so hot.

Day 116 update still got a quarter of a tank left after 468 miles, looks like I will fill up next Monday evening then use the wife's Karoq for my 3 night shifts. Still got 170 miles left which is not surprising as the last 3 commutes to work have given 44.0, 44.1 and 45.5mpg tonight. Got some nice warm sunshine :emoticon-0157-sun: to look forward to on my 3 rest days this week (specially ordered of course).

Day 120 update and will need fuel tomorrow aiming for 600 miles on this tank. WLTP figure for the 272 is 33mpg and the old NEDC figure is 39,8mpg. When I bought the car 4 months ago I wasn't expecting more than 34mpg overall or 500 miles per tank. As 594 miles would be 41mpg this would be 20% further than I expected so to say I'm pleased with the Superb's economy would be an understatement. Will update tomorrow evening with running costs and actual mpg on the latest tank. 4,200 miles covered so far.

Actually that was, as you say, one of the latest models but was a SEAT!
It was made to be a bit more special than the ‘normal’ Leon Cupra but not a full on Mk4 version which is the Cupra Leon.

With very little fuel left in the tank (under 6 litres) managed a 48.3mpg commute on the way home last night (new personal best) seeing as much as 49.9mpg at one point before climbing uphill. Only to eclipse it this morning with a 48.6mpg. Photo's to follow when I can get an internet connection on my phone. Got 40 miles of fuel left to drive the 25 miles to the Shell garage.

Very impressive. I hope you never run out of fuel trying to achieve your PB. I can just imagine a  diesel/ Mercedes/ BMW owning Briskoda member,  flicking you the V sign and driving past as you trudge along the hard shoulder 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

I usually manage 20 commutes so about 540 miles so pushing my luck a little with 22 commutes and what should be 602 miles.:tongueout:

Dare you you drive to the Shell garage 25 miles away? I refer you to my last post 😉
