Absolutely. His engine's going to die of boredom one of these days.

Funny cos it's actually true. He is bragging about those mpg figures tank after tank when in fact they are the worst type of usage for an engine that lacks port injection, lol.

With all that coasting, there's probably going to be carbon build-up from as early as 10K judging from how some US cars, that never had port injection, have looked like.

Maybe his fuel savings will go some ways towards a carbon clean...

Well now you mention it for those on 2year lease deals or PCP's who can't modify their cars I currently use 6 litres of 99 octane petrol per commute (54 miles). If I drove it like it was leased and put the cheapest fuel I could find and averaged 20mpg or 290 miles per tank it would cost an extra £6 per day (I work 20 shifts per month) so £120 extra per month. My remap cost £450 so within 4 months I've paid for the extra 91bhp and in the next 4 months will have paid for my road tax (£145) and insurance (£265). My first 2 services are FREE paid for by the Skoda dealer when I bought the car. Back on topic the 602 miles used 65.94 litres (14.51 gallons) for an average of 41.49mpg which makes my computer pretty accurate. I have spent a total of £625.40 buying 500.08 litres and covering 4,251 miles at an overall average of 38.65mpg.

Not sure about all these maths but I reckon just buying a 1.5 tsi would save couple grand at least to start off with plus all the monies getting 50mpg!

It's nice to know what a 272 can do though driven carefully. Best I got was 43mpg on a really slow trip trying to avoid filling up halfway.

Four years ago I bought the 148bhp Superb 1.4TSi to replace a 181bhp diesel Vrs Octavia and whereas the diesel would struggle to do 500 miles on it's 50 litre tank (45mpg) the Superb would consistently average 50mpg and upto 800 miles per 66 litres. Although the Vrs diesel was faster the petrol was more fun to rev out but still lacking in the excitement stakes. Therefore a lack of power has now been resolved when ever I feel the need. The 272 at 9 months old was the same price I paid for my 1.4TSi new back in April 2016 with a few options so it's not about saving money but having your cake and eating it.

if your worrying about the costs of mpg then you can't afford the car. just go to petrol station fill up and enjoy it man

I had mine on Track last month before all this lockdown and used a full tank of juice then hit the 157mph limiter and shredded my tyres but I enjoyed it.  i wouldn't get off looking at mpg figures all day.

Late last year before the Pandemic arrived I paid for 2 holidays in 2020 in full which cost £3,800 so I think I can afford the cost of running my wife's Karoq and the Superb. I own 2 homes worth £400,000 so you really don't need to worry about my finances.

If I was in Germany mine would exceed 170mph comfortably.

Guys, did everyone here take note of this statement?

If so then declare that you've been infinitely impressed from these, unheard of , figures by hitting the "LIKE" button (the one on the far right with the blue heart in it) immediately!

Failure to comply with the above will result in scans from the actual tax declaration being uploaded and, quite justifiably, being pinned on the front page of the SIII section.

That would makes sense, the guy has a well conceived financial plan then.

That last one went wrong somehow.

newbie69, that was brilliant - I love a bit of intelligent, well-crafted sarcasm !

I'm sure that a great many people on this site can claim those kinds of figures for a single holiday and just the one house - maybe mortgage statements should be pinned too?

The whole sub-thread seems to be based on a propensity for boastfulness, and should perhaps be deprived of attention before it leads to digital fisticuffs.

Or, just maybe, it should be encouraged if it results in entertainingly clever responses like that?

Did the JB4 cause the fault code 4 days after you bought it or did you have to return it to the dealer to clear? Also what track in the UK has a long enough straight to reach 157mph or was it on a runway? Final question how many miles did your tyres last and what make were they?

If you hit the rev limiter and come of the gas pedal completely and then quickly bury it again, does it then bypass the limiter ??? It used to be the case with the RS6 and RS7 (possibly other fast Audi's).  Though Audi still charged handsomely to have the restrictions removed, as part of a performance pack or similar.

It must have. Everybody knows that apart from more power, JB4 provides also time travel capability. In this case, the guy bought a JB4 in March or so, but it caused a check engine light retrospectively on the 25th of February, those darn things...

Digging up posts to build a story is that much more comical when you can't even get the dates right, a new fail record even for his standards surely?!

The 592bhp 4WD BMW M5 has two factory limiters. First one is set to 155mph to keep the Green Party happy in Germany and the second one is buried deep in the ECU's brain to protect the factory tyres at 193mph (source BMW tuner Evolve).

I was the first person to view his profile for 2 months so wondered what his sudden interest was in this thread. Still waiting for his reply unless he's been telling lies of course.

No doubt that would be a nice story if the dates added up.  But based on your history, let's be honest that it's much more likely you were ****ed with his dismissive comments about your mpg posts and decided to throw some with whatever you could add in the mix: fault codes, JB4, tires, even if the chronological order did not support them 😉

Explain please why did you think the JB4 was the cause of the fault code since it wasn't even on the car at the time of the code?!  Let me guess, you didn't pay attention to the dates right?  :tongueout:

PS. By the way, what is a "sudden interest" for a thread in a public forum? Do people normally PM you first that they would like to participate in your threads?

my Jb4 has been perfectly fine apart from a new air take temp sensor which caused the light to illuminate but skoda assist replaced under warranty, I was on croft circuit which has a really long back straight, tyres are still stock, but changing them out for good year super sports next time

That photo was not taken at Croft because I've done 50 laps round that circuit in a BMW and the fastest cars hit about 108mph on the pit straight. Second having watched a pole position lap from a BTCC race car the maximum it reached from the onboard telemetry was 190kph (less than 120mph). I suspect if that photo is your car it was taken on a public road and you are being coy about that fact. Have you a print out from the rolling road you tested your car on or is it a complete guess based upon JB4 claims?

you can get a lot faster than 120mph my ford focus st has been on croft also and get around 130 in that on back straights, your coming out of the bottom corner at 80mph it doesn't take much to get up to top speed, I've not had the skoda on the dyno yet, it was booked to go on as i was considering a proper map and hybrid turbo
