Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch

If it wan't for the unwanted Pandemic we would all be driving our cars more and given the choice the Superb's keys would be my first choice. However leaving the Karoq on the drive for 11 weeks and counting does not make any sense and I would agree with Wino if you don't like the content then there are alternatives on this page such as newbie69 or Roscio's 272 projects. I will conclude that since early January 2020 when I decided to start this thread over 21,000 views is quite good when you compare to others on this page in just 5 months. Also I have plans for the car but the lockdown has slowed progress unfortunately and I have already cancelled 2 holidays so you should have had 21 days without me posting so don't blame me blame the Corona Virus.

Day 164 update not much to report just cleaned both cars in the nice sunshine this morning and looking forward to driving the Superb on the commute tomorrow after not being in it for a week. Normally the first service would be due in about 5 months but as I'm driving both at the moment it could be nearly 2 years before the Superb gets its first oil change. Not really a worry as it is a free service anyway. Will post a picture when I hit or get close to 10,000 miles in a couple of days time.

You do realize that cleaning one, (or worse two +) cars is insulting the weather gods? (From a very wet town in Essex).

LOL just had 3 days off work and it always rains after I clean my Black Magic Superb because just 2 miles from my home I pass a quarry and the road outside this morning was a lovely muddy brown so you can imagine what the side of my CLEAN CAR looks like now.🙄

My old vRS was Black Magic, & it never looked clean. The Silver barge hides the dirt, but there's more of it to wash.......

I still hanker for a 4WD to replace the old girl (car, not wife....) but a Superb 3 or an Arteon just won't fit in my garage. The Golf only just fits through the door, all these newer cars are wider over the door mirrors than the Mk 2 Superbs & Octavias.

Had to pull into Aldi car park this morning to capture this moment.

Thank goodness, a mpg below 20.

As you can see in a 30mph limit and under a mile driven it wasn't going to be great. Computer forecasts only 640 miles on the current tank which should take me until the end of June.🤡

Personally not familiar with this bit of the display at all. I mostly have mine on oil temp. Once it's at 80, off we go :D

With a stage 1 remap the grin factor grows to Joker size believe me.😉

Just a quick comment on the wife's car content. I think it adds a sort of calibration comparison to see what shy gets from a relatively economic engine. Gives an idea of what to expect from a 272 from a "normal" driver.

I'm assuming that your central screen has a "car" button as well as media, radio, etc., isn't there a display / page with performance gauges?

If so, then you can have the oil temperature, turbo boost, power output displayed there, leaving the smaller display to show the digital speedo.

Have you driven the Stinger much over the last 3 months? Noticed on the commute tonight the M1 is getting busy almost back to pre-lockdown levels and quality of driving as bad as it was in early March. Seems that folk only socially distance when not behind the wheel of something large and intimidating (not KIA or Skoda drivers of course).:whew:

This fella claimed he had an audition on-site and his name was Remy if you know your Disney Pixar films he failed as the kitchen chef due to his inability to correctly guess what the poison tasted like. Access Denied.

Hi Shy, yep roads getting busier around here again too.

Have driven 3 or 4 times a week, but much less that before.  Have been getting more than a week out of a tank of fuel!

Have really enjoyed the empty roads! 😉

Getting the GTS detailed in the first week of July, so looking forward to that!

Two hold ups on tonight’s commute. The quarry train ran for the first time in 3 months (5 minutes stationary) then the BMW who crashed into traffic lights on Friday morning has resulted in a busy dual carriageway leading to J22 of the M1 being a busy single lane as the damaged traffic light is still not replaced. Despite all this the Karoq ignores traffic jams it seems.

Back in the Superb today and as the Long Term is approaching 100 hours driven and just over 4,000 miles covered at an indicated 39.0mpg which is very close to the actual 39.07mpg. With just 10,200 miles now showing that will be 300 hours driven by the first driver and myself. Might fill up over the weekend because I need to pop into my parents and I pass a cheaper Shell garage on the way there.

With 40 miles of fuel left in the tank going to park up the Superb until Sunday when I will now fill up. That will be 4 weeks on that tank should be 551 miles driven at about 40mpg. Shot comparing size of the Superb next to a Fiat 500 and Renault Clio.

So far this month after 23 days I've driven just over 900 miles without buying any fuel by using both cars but despite the Karoq still having 190 miles left in the tank promised the wife I will fill it for her tomorrow. Should be around £40 which takes me onto the significant money I'm saving during the last 3 months. We are spending £135 less on fuel per month, had a full refund on our cancelled Scottish holiday of just over £510 and last week I got a tax refund of £2,156 from those nice folk at HMRC so in total over the last 13 weeks that my wife has been working from home I'm about £3,071 BETTER OFF.:) Still too tight to join as a Freedom member though, sorry Colin.:tongueout:
