Back in the what??  Shy I confess this is the first time I envy you about something! finding a stage 1 272 a beast  :D:D    you are a blessed man!

Personally, I don't think I will ever be able to call this car fast with anything less than 500bhp or thereabouts, and after last week's modifications I'm probably closer to 380bhp as times suggest. Still...

Not too bothered as it only costs £50 to fill the tank for 550 miles. Using both cars as wife working from home since March means I haven't actually bought any fuel since April. Back in the beast tonight after a week in the Karoq and the power delivery is addictive and easy. Currently averaging 42.8mpg on the current tank but still got 320 miles left. Tonight's commute only 46.2mpg I love lockdown.

Even without lockdown, I buy fuel once a month or more. Thanks to public transport.

I can use as much performance as I like whenever I drive it as I am not bothered over 35mpg or 30mpg or what not with the annual mileage I do.

I would fill up twice a month as I do 1,000 miles per month just commuting. However it will be 4 weeks next time it gets some Shell V-Power and should make the magic 1,000km per tank.;)

Haven’t driven the Superb much recently just using it 3 days out of every 9 so current tank should last until early June. Last fuel I bought for it was 27th April. But polished and tyres blacked.

Super, last fuel for mine was January I think.

what annoys me about clean car photos; apart from mine is never this clean, is the wheel plugs are not level.

I guess clean panels improve aero and add to mpg.

have you duxbacked the windscreen? Lots of micro eddies from that I imagine. ;)

Always an honour Colin to have you on this thread even if your tongue is sticking out a tad. Got some of that Rain-ex type stuff for the windscreen but it's very warm here again so might need slightly cooler weather to apply it. First time I've polished any car in more than a decade so I'm blaming these OCD folk for converting me on Briskoda. If I had petrol in my tank for 4 months and now restrictions have been lifted a little I would be tempted to go for a good long drive with your partner just to get rid of it and put a tankful of this cheap stuff before pump prices begin to rise once more.

Back at work over the Bank Holiday weekend so roads should be quiet. Done 430 miles on the current tank but won’t need fuel until early June.

Back in 2003 when all I could afford was a new £14,250 Leon Cupra with the 1.8T 177bhp engine I would dream about owning a 355bhp BMW M3 CSL with the wonderful 3.2 litre naturally aspirated engine, so owning a very practical 5 seater limo with a massive boot and M3 CSL power levels makes me quite happy but if you need to strive for 500bhp then good luck and enjoy. Everything is relative after owning an 80bhp Fabia Mk2 1.4TDi I suppose.

Quick clean at work. So much easier since I polished it earlier in the week.

20th commute in the Superb today this month as I pass 500 miles on this tank and last 5 trips of 27 miles have been between 40-43.9mpg. Current mileage is 9,698 and will be parked up until next Monday so not much to report apart from some nice beading from the showers we had 2 days ago. Full update next week when I will need fuel after 35 days (due to driving the wife's Karoq more than I expected during lockdown 500 miles in May). Stay safe everyone and some restrictions will be hopefully lifted in June.:emoticon-0157-sun:

Welcome back Peeler in your basic solid red road rocket packing 148bhp which is plenty of power for the local yoof where you live with their body kitted Nova's. Anyone would think you were jealous looking at my car let alone Newbie69's 390bhp Sportline or Roscio and his 482bhp L & K. It's the best car you've owned after a number of Ford's.:thinking:Must be a good reason you have only 3 points on here perhaps you can work that out for yourself. Perhaps you need a bigger ego like me.:blush

Hello Shy -  size does'nt matter but the comic content of your posts just keep me chuckling - keep it up.!

What car's people drive, where they live or how many 'points' they have is totally irrelevant!

What really counts is that members can voice their opinions without others belittling them. If the opinions are too OTT then Staff will take appropriate action.

Absolutely.

Agreed. Calm down boys. Leave Shy to his thread.  If you don’t approve or like it, look elsewhere.

The car-related internet and even just Briskoda leave plenty of room for us all.

Each to their own - there’s no need to break his balls every day!

Reminds me, I must wipe the dust off mine. Been standing around for three weeks now untouched.

Thanks Dunc I don't make a habit of going onto other peoples threads and rip them apart or belittle their efforts to make their cars better. Difficult to hold back when people show envy in a very negative manner. Good that we have the ignore user function to fall back on. Long weekend off tomorrow only comes around once a month so always look forward to spending quality time with SWMBO and a shame we had to cancel the planned trip to Perthshire next week in the Superb but the hotel were great this week with the full refund so we may make it up there in September for our wedding anniversary.

Well the hardworking Karoq got fuel at Sainsbury's today (because it's still 99.9 pence per litre) and in the last 40 days thanks to my commute it has covered 832 miles at a cost of just £73.93 using 74 litres of 95 octane unleaded for an average of 51.10 mpg. Back in the Superb on Monday and always nice to jump from 148bhp to 360bhp.

But what you consistantly do Shy is promote yourself to be superior. Perhaps that's the problem?  Doesn't matter what the thread is about, doesn't even matter if it's a thread doesn't concern the model(s) of car you own, as an example you can't wait to tell others of your fuel consumption, a figure which is completely unrealistic ( and of course doctored ).

In case you don't realise it, if your long term over say 2000 miles is 45mpg, and you're blowing about how your car has returned 66mpg ( always over a short distance ), then by the law of averages that means at some point your car is returning 24mpg.  It's never a clever idea to consistantly give just one side of a story.  That said, Donald Trump managed to become president by doing the same so what do I know. :D

Get this, nobody is interested in what fuel consumption a car can return on a blistering hot summers day going down hill, wind assisted, with the engine switched off and slipstreaming behind a lorry, what people want to know is what mpg can THEY expect if they're thinking about buying a car.  Try helping others rather than boasting about yourself.

You can think what you like as JB states you have an opinion but I'm the one putting fuel into both cars and paying for their upkeep and I don't lie about fuel consumption figures. The long term average on the Karoq is now 45.70 mpg over 2,557 miles. Wife doesn't drive her car much but she usually averages low 40's when she does drive it on short journeys (all under 10 miles).

wrong word

What a strange post from @Scot5 who constantly makes posts about armchair experts, and also talks about Honest John and Average Fuel Consumption's in the mid 40's.

Well these averages are made up of people who must get into the 50's or 60's MPG to make up for short cold start trips where 4.5462 litres maybe just takes you 25-30 miles, like people might get with lockdown and doing a few miles a day.

Many many people get mid 40's average MPG just driving normally, and know that very easily if they can get 450 miles from 45 litres of fuel.

3 years of driving a Seat Alhambra 2.0 TDI SCR DSG 150ps with a remap & with a 63 litre tank which was always brimmed could do without trying 630 miles and need less than 63 litres to refill,  but when using coasting function & toe off the accelerator on the same journeys taking the same time,

same roads, same average speed cameras it could be over 700 miles from the tank full, and 60 litres or less of a refill.

Aberdeen, Perth, maybe North to Inverness or Edinburgh or Glasgow and south or south west to Cairnryan. 44,000 miles of the same trips.

That was with one car over the 3 years and i used other cars as well at various times and doing the same speeds and getting good fuel economy as no choice with the Average Speed cameras.

I have driven the same roads over the decades even before some of the routes were updated and got cameras and know the difference between nipping on, or maybe having people with me and hypermiling by keeping behind coaches or the likes which are not going slow.

7 years back, winter time, remapped 1.4 TSI DSG.

Same thing.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/261562-450-miles-in-a-vrs-45-mpg

For balance, over the past 3 weeks since i last brimmed my 3.2 diesel automatic 4x4 van i have done 65 miles doing a couple of miles occasionally and it needed 16.24 litres to brim it.  But on the same trips as above it averages 26 mpg.

Any picture can tell a lie.
