Wow, not too complicated then........

From a 280 Superb, to an R estate, that's unusual. A tad quicker of course, but noticeably smaller than the Skoda, at least from the B pillar back.

Nice car though, I'd have one for myself, but since SWMBO is keeping hers & I'm allowed to drive it (getting it serviced, refuelling, shopping....) I need to find a suitable alternative.

A Leon Cupra ST might be an obvious choice but it's bit cramped inside, used Cupra Ateca are too expensive, + they often lack the desirable comfort & sound pack.

I can't find a Superb 272 / 280 with my desired options that cost less than £40K new, same with the Passat 272 R-line Edition, not so well equipped as the equivalent Superb but quite cheap, £30-£32K for low-milage pre-registered cars on "K" plates.

He was telling me he's already done a few mods to the Golf including a stage 1 map so it will be quite nippy now.:tongueout:

Do you know who / where it was mapped + what the results were?

If I can't find a newer car that I really want, I might have to tweak the old girl instead. DC.

We should be meeting at Penrith in 2 weeks so I'll ask him to share some details and pass them on.:hi:

Thanks, I've just had a chat with AmD, a stage 1 map on a mk.7 R = 360ps, also they can take the 190 ps 2.0 TSi from 190 to 260 ps, might be interesting for anyone driving a VAG 4WD SUV.

For @newbie69front and rear wheel arch gaps. Sorry for the delay been on Brisky day trip.

Cheers Shy, it's great that you like them but they confirm my suspicion that the Superb arches make the 235/35/19 look rather on the small side.

...and now i feel a little bit better that I sold a little used set of the absolutely best tire I've ever had (Michelin PS4S) in 235/35 when I switched to the Superb, as I couldn't have stood their look on this car :worried:

Yeah no what you mean but the speed humps in my street are like the Alps and my drive slopes from right to left probably for drainage so much when I dropped the trolley jack I could barely remove it from under the sills. If I lowered it I would have to drive it onto blocks of wood to do a wheel change. Have noticed it corners much flatter on the 35 profile tyres and the steering is much more direct with the Michelin tyres. Grip is even better from a standstill and economy is still in the low 40's. Overall I'm very impressed with the improvements and it may be only 6mm or so nearer to the road but the suspension has been transformed and even the secondary bounce is much less noticeable.

Yesterday went past 6,000 miles driven since collecting the car last December (10,000km) and not a single, squeak, rattle or problem. The fuel economy has settled down which can be demonstrated by the last 2 tanks. 28th June put 63.41 litres in for 551 miles driven at 39.50mpg and 17th July put 63.21 litres in for 546 miles driven at 39.28mpg. The overall figure now after 5,975 miles is 39.13mpg up slightly from the previous 39.11mpg. This has cost £877.41 and used 694.21 litres of 99 octane. Noticed on the fuel flap that Skoda recommends using 98 octane fuel in this car with a minimum of 95 octane.:hi:

Back in the Karoq for the next 3 nights and a decent effort on the commute. Of the 3,500 miles it has been driven this year I bet my wife has only done 500 in total due moving to work locally then from home since March.

Decided to drive the Karoq like a car thief tonight and halfway to work passing Leicester it was only averaging 49mpg (yesterday it was 57mpg at the same point) and by the time I got to work it averaged 55mpg not too shabby considering economy wasn't (for once) a priority. Will fill it with fuel on Wednesday morning and the long term after 92 hours driving is showing 49mpg.:hi:

Someone said my Sportline looked like any other so decided to make it a bit more unique. In a tribute to my first fast Skoda which came with green caliper’s painted all 4 in Skoda metallic Rallye Green and removed the rust on all 4 hubs which VAG cars specialise in.  😁

I'm surprised that you have used a colour which hasn't been used for an awful long time as IMHO it actually detracts. If you'd gone red then it could easily have passed for OEM though.

But John that's the point I don't want to look OEM otherwise the Vega wheels would still be on it. Green and Black go together well and I'm not trying to copy my Black Vrs245 with it's OEM red calipers. It is a Skoda colour and being metallic Rallye Green if you see it in person it really sparkles. Let's see what a former Superb 280 owner Penguin17 thinks when he sees the car on the 2nd August for a second opinion.:whew:

Each to their own obviously and it's always nice to be different but I will always associate green calipers with the MK1 Octavia VRS.

I think Gold calipers would look good to match the gold badges on Cupra models.:tongueout:

Probably better if they were copper coloured to match the copper coloured badges! :tongueout:

Perhaps not because copper looks like rust and is slang for a policeman and you wouldn't want to tell someone you painted your calipers to remind yourself of the local plod.:hi:

The ACT on the wife's Karoq 1.5TSi engine is incredibly effective at saving fuel and the last 5 commutes have given 63, 53, 55, 52 and 63mpg indicated on maxidot. The two lowest figures are going home when I'm tired after a 12 hour night shift and generally uphill so less chance of the ACT cutting in and running on just 2 cylinders. Think the only 2 mods I will do on the Karoq this year are to fit my old Vega 8J x 19 alloys from the Superb with 235/40R19 Bridgestone tyres to give it more grip in the corners and to handle a remap probably in November when I will start filling it with 99 octane Shell V-Power Nitro+ as the 3 year warranty runs out next January and the car is not covering more than 6,000 miles per year as she is working locally or from home so the extra cost is not an issue as it is only using 1 tank per month and a 1,350kg Karoq will be even more fun with 190bhp.😄

When I started this thread on January 3rd 2020 I had no idea I would be driving my wife's Karoq more than her from March 23rd due to lockdown and her now working almost entirely from home. Therefore thought I would share the last 4 fills of the 148bhp small SUV with a manual gearbox and 1.5TSi ACT engine.

468 miles 41.00 litres cost £40.96 @51.88 mpg.

364 miles 33.00 litres cost £32.97 @50.14 mpg.

479 miles 42.00 litres cost £42.38 @51.84 mpg.

423 miles 37.42 litres cost £40.00 @51.40 mpg.

Think this demonstrates that a petrol Karoq enjoys a good motorway cruise rather than driving in stop/start city traffic and my consistent driving style not varying between 1.7 mpg from worst to best.

Back in the Superb on Saturday and may drive it for all 5 shifts I have coming up before the short holiday in the Lake District next week.

Not safe to pull onto the hardshoulder of the motorway today as I could have captured 11,111..........111.1 which I set up a few days ago but will fill the car with fuel on the way home tonight before our long weekend trip to Cumbria on Friday. Will use the wife's Karoq for my 2 nights this week as usual.:rain:

Well with just 200 more posts on here until I leave Brisky back in the Karoq for the next 2 nights but for once my wife has driven more miles today than me as she had 3 home visits clocking up 60 miles today (she can claim them at 45 pence per mile) so the car was nicely warmed for me. Got stuck behind a tractor towing a tractor for 2 miles in roadworks at 20mph (6 minutes in 3rd gear) so economy wasn't great but it has now been driven for 999 hours (someone call the Police) since we purchased it on 26th Jan 2018. Will take one final photo as it gets close to 1,000 hours driven tomorrow. Weather forecast looking settled and warm for our weekend away so some positive news after a pretty miserable July following excellent weather in April and May.:emoticon-0157-sun:

When the Karoq Long Term economy reset itself tonight the final 6 miles before I arrived at work gave an average of 66.6mpg which might prove difficult to maintain during the next 6 months (one tank of 500 miles per month now).:tongueout:
