Search different forums... there are multiple solutions, typically you have to root your phone and install some software.

Hi, I can't update!

1. Format a SD card to FAT32.

2. Extract the contents of the file that I have to the SD card.

3. Remove ALLcards from the controller in the glovebox

4. Insert the card containing the firmware update into Slot 1

5. Go to Service menu, find and activate the update function...

What am I doing wrong?! (see attached files)

Updating the firmware doesn't affect component protection, but it does set a fault code that the firmware has been changed - which is easily cleared following instructions widely available online.

Thank you.  And is firmware for this unit somehow bind to VIN code of the car or not ?

For many years now VAG infotainment systems have remembered the VIN of the vehicle they are first installed into, and on startup check the VIN of the vehicle they are fitted to.

thank you.

My MIB2.5 was mounted additionaly (original MIB1 was replaced), component protection is deactivated.  So I propose that it should not be problem to update firmware.

I would suggest you check with whoever removed component protection to save an expensive mistake...

DEfinetely! I beleive SW update will kill patch, the rul eis if you patched the unit then do NOT make any SW updates!

Check your PMs

Just to add to this for anyone who is running a Columbus MIB2.5 system like me, I sent screenshots of my software versions to Pab567 last night and he sent me an update link straight away, went from version 1163 to version 1440 successfully this morning in about 20 minutes from a class 10 micro sd card. Hasn’t fixed the issue I had (continuous playback of mp3 files for mix albums etc) but good to know it’s at least up to date so many thanks to him for this.
