Voice control for climate control finally works. Not very well but at least it is available, unlike before. That was the main motivation for the update as 1900 had been pretty stable otherwise.

You should consider asking the dealer to update the climatic module. It is seperate from the infotainment system - I had to explain this on two occasions before the service team understood.

You can find the details here:

FYI - car currently at dealer getting PDC error looked at. They have told me that v1969 does not exist in Skoda so anything that is affected by it is no longer covered by warranty.

Don’t understand the “v1969 does not exist”.  It’s an Infotainment software update released for both Skoda and Seat cars and I assume VW vehicles (they share the same platform).  Some on here have had the Skoda dealership update their car’s infotainment to this version.

Find a delaer who has a modicum of product knowledge, as that's just not true.

I'm about to collect my car from the dealer after an upgrade from 1806, so it will be interesting to see what version I got.

If anyone can give me evidence that it exists I'd appreciate it as about to be charged £120+ for the engineer to 'look' at an incorrect SW version.

I’m guessing some dealers may still be installing previous version 1941 which is regarded as the Infotainment version that bought stability.

The problem these cars have, which is not unique to Skoda, is they have multiple modules for different functions that each have their own firmware.  If a particular firmware version is unstable it can easily upset the whole apple cart and cause the system to crash.

My car is back from the dealer with 1941.

1941 is a stable version and 1969 doesn’t bring anything new to the end user - likely some under bonnet tweaks.

And just to confirm, v1969 was installed by a dealer or by OTA. Not by a manual update ?

Manually updated by myself.  I have read that dealers have installed 1969 but possibly you have to ask.  To be honest version 1941 is very stable and no discernible difference to the end user between the two versions.

And that's my challenge - unless I can find someone who has had dealer update (or OTA) or reference to it on a Skoda site, they will refuse to believe that it is real as it is not the latest according to their documentation. The dealer did say they contacted tech support who confirmed that 1941 was the latest release.

Upgrade to 1941 isn’t a bad thing as it was definitely the release that bought stability to the Infotainment system.  The only issue is that the multiple modules that control various aspects of the car have their own firmware versions that often need updating to get a rick solid system.  Unfortunately Skoda have a policy of only updating module firmware versions on a piece meal basis - only if you report a specific issue will they look at that specific module to see if there is newer released firmware.

As far as the dealer installing version 1969, possibly someone has reported it on this thread  but cannot be sure.

My dealer (DM Keith) updated my car from 1806 to 1969, but only after a lengthy chat with Skoda U.K. (who were not interested) and some excellent side support from the National Skoda Fleet manager (as my company has many Skoda vehicles)

The dealer wanted £156 to update.
Between the national fleet manager and her direct influence with my local dealer and also bringing in VAG group direct, it was done FoC

Since the update I have been able to update my navigation map via USB and things like settings ‘drive on the left’ are now cured.

Will understand if other things have changed as I use the car more , but for now I am unfortunately sunning it in CYP for 3 weeks 😉

I was charged £190 for 'diagnostics' as the dealer wouldn't believe 1969 existed - any chance you could ask you dealer to officially confirm that 1969 is real & available ? I might be able to get my money back, however unlikely.

What did they diagnose

Faulty Park Distance Control / Emergency Braking error being checked.

Here is my info on a post face-lift demonstrator first registered 18th June and bought by me from a dealer on 18th September.

Foolishly i didn'trecordthe software level when i got it but im pretty sure it was 1969. It looks as though the navigation database has been updated, presumably OTA, but I can't remember being asked to approve it.

Where has 2460 come from?

After facelift there is different tech in Octavias, nothing about pre-facelift is relevant to new cars.

Do you mean to say that skoda actually learned a hard lesson from the previous infotainment system debacle?

I think they have. From what I have seen the infotainment system in the FL Octavia is the same (as in it looks the same) as the new mk4 Superb.

Would make sense if it is as there would be fewer variants to manage updates for.

The FL doesn't look much different on the whole, though.
