You've changed from an EFB battery to AGM. You really should get it coded as the charging requirements are a little different. If you can't do it yourself with VCDS, ObdEleven, Carscanner or similar there must be someone on here who's near Guildford and can help. Failing that do you have a friendly local independent garage/mechanic ? Anybody in the trade should be able to do it.

Skoda-parts.com Not quite what you've written.

Evening All. Our winter rims have arrived from skoda-parts.com and they fit! This is a good news story. I ordered these just last week and they arrived yesterday by FedEx. The tracking app was excellent and I could see them at every step - from the store through to export / import in Germany / UK and finally on their way up to Scotland. They arrived well packaged, in perfect condition and are the genuine article. Importantly, they cost £850 for the four, plus £40 for delivery along with a couple of other items which we included in the order (less than half the UK price Skoda USB C cables). I am impressed. I had called them to discuss the order because I was worried about the import duty after Brexit but, even on an order of this value, the price I paid at checkout was the final price - FedEx didn't turn up demanding additional funds. The supplier is UK VAT registered and handles everything at their end. Seamless. I removed the front offside 19" wheel and mounted one of the 17" Crystal rims to check clearance over the larger front brake caliper and the clearance is fine. Phew! I recall these rims being listed on the Certificate of Conformity for our first order but the paperwork wasn't in the car when we collected our second, replacement car a week ago. The rims are now in our garage having had two coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant today and they will receive a final third coat tomorrow, having allowed the current layers to harden overnight. It's easier to apply them now before the rims are mounted and this will see them through for three months of so of winter weather from end-November. After that I will only be able to top up the sealant on the face of the rims, although they will be cleaned and treated again when they are removed in early-April next year. I have ordered a set of four Goodyear Ultragrip 3 winter tyres. What a refreshing change - £521 delivered from MyTyres.com compared to around £1300 for our previous RR Velar. This is a recurring theme and it's a lovely experience - our insurance with Allianz Gold, including 180 days comprehensive cover in the EU......£242. Today was enjoyable because I managed to work out how to fit the luggage area netting, set up Mrs A with her personal account, unique settings, key and iPhone link as well as the rims. One pain is that we have already picked up a stone chip on the bonnet - just 330 miles into our ownership! Official Skoda touch up paint already ordered and cocktail sticks at the read for application. Sad! Best wishes.

Thanks Jo88Mak for taking the trouble to respond. However the workshop manual illustration is very difficult to read as the text is small and blurred. Nevertheless, so far as I can tell it refers to removal of bumper (which I suspected) and my original question was does anyone know if this can be done without removing the bumper? At least you tried - I'm still waiting for anyone else to respond.

Our 2016 Fabia Combi 1.2 tsi 110 6 speed manual reports 52 mpg overall long term but that's largely due to long runs on major roads and motorways. Gets 38 to 42 ish when used locally but is very dependent on how heavy your foot is.

ive had this issue too, you need to keep the revs higher. its actually stalled before you have come to the lights, but there is no indication it has.. no juddering or anything of the sort, its not until you come to a stop you realise or go to set off again. 2025 1.5tsi manual i'd actually drove 4 other skodas, two octavias, a superb and kamiq and didnt have this issue

The Authorised Service Centre or the Tech / Fitter doing a PDI changes nothing in the settings. Maybe Takes it out of 'In transit setting'. Might change Variable Servicing to Fixed Servicing, and might reset the TPMS when they change the pressure from that they come off a transporter at.

True to be honest I don’t care for what colour it is as long as it’s protected as I want to get this car how I want it and keep it for many years. How long would a mk2 realistically last if cared for properly from this point in your opinion ?

I think im going to get the front liners off tomorrow and get the jet wash in there see what they look like and get them sorted first then move onto the next job. So you just used wax oil spray in there then put the liners back on?

Well the thing I don't know for sure is how badly the electronics might react to the smaller wheel diameter, and don't really want to waste money on "incompatible" tires. On pre face-lift models it's apparently not a big deal according to some threads, and the wheel size change in the computer is quite easy and painless (within some limits of course of supported wheel sizes, but there are usually way more sizes programmed than just the two oem sizes for this specific Octavia version, at least according to VW threads). Although looking at octavia spec the smallest oem wheel is the 205/60 r16, and that's 1.12% smaller than the 225/45 r18 - so quite close still, and it may be that the computer/clusters don't have a small enough tire circumference profile available even if it was possible to modify those settings. I assume that that setting, as it's exactly what the Authorized Service Center changes when changing tire size within oem options, propagates to all the modules that need this information, as even within the OEM tire sizes, they span from 205/60 R16 with 652mm circumference, all the way to 225/40 r19 with 662mm circumference, so over 1.5% difference - still possibly significant for all those advanced electronics, assists, radars etc. So unless the dials module has some Golf profiles in there, this may not be possible at all, and an experiment will be necessary. Thankfully that can be done as soon as sfd2 get's unlocked, without the need to physically swap the tires, as the setting change will change the indicated speed, and that's enough to calculate what circumference each profile corresponds to. Would be nice though if all of that was just openly available in the user manual for the car. Or perhaps some "advanced user" manual - optional.

Our 1.2 TSI 120 bhp DSG will easily do 55 to 60 mpg on a 50 mile motorway journey at 70 mph. On short local journeys 3-5 miles mainly urban dual carriageways 45-50 mph does around 45 mpg.

Cant advise on the Diesel, but our 1.2 TSI 110 bhp DSG 5 door hatchback will easily do 55-60 mpg on a 50 mile motorway journey at 70 mph.

@Mariosti I thought you started out bothering about splashing some cash on tyres that cost a bit more for winter use,. now there is this stuff about different wheels, weight saving. You seem to have all the answers and knowledge so seems funny you asked in the first place.

Maybe it has not. On their property might be ok but above the payment i doubt is ok. If the were at 4m or 5m or so at the property boundary it still would not be very safe is someone was carrying a ladder along the payment like a ladder in the vertical.

Pretty sure no warranty covers tyres or any consumables on the car like brakes, fluids, oils, filters, shocks, suspension joints etc. Additional insurance "warranties" may cover, or partially cover such things, but that's quite some extra money upfront each year, especially on a brand new car. Sorry to hear you got so unlucky with the flats lately. I'm quite certain that if you bought a spare wheel and put it in the boot then you wouldn't get flats anymore ;) As to the unsprung weight, I am replacing the 18" skoda comet rims that are 13.2kg each according to Skoda with jrwheels SL01 18x8 , that should weigh around 8.3kg each, so that will be already a huge reduction of almost 20kg of unsprung mass on the car, but if it would be possible to remove additional 4-6kg and also get same premium threads but cheaper - well that would be a win win scenario, and certainly can't hurt also the daily driving. As a matter of fact i planned to get 5 rims and tires, to get a full size spare wheel. As I understand it should fit in the spare wheel well, and the canton sub should fit inside of the rim, or am I mistaken? Going back to the main topic, indeed, the circumference difference is too big for daily use, considering all the electronics on the car.
