The Octavia is a great family car IMO. VAG cars do like pampering though and servicing can't be skimped on without risk. They're very good so long as you anticipate known issues and head them off. Some have high oil consumption, some have issues with silica bags in the coolant that can split and gum up your heater matrix. The more you learn about your car, the better you'll be able to prevent things going wrong with it. (I've no idea what the dealers are like these days as I ducked out of the dealer network as soon as my warranty was up.)

I predict that you will find that the DFGA needs topping up with oil between services.

The cxxb doesn’t use up the oil; as for the dfga, I’m not sure. I haven’t used the dfga much yet.

Yes, music goes into the non-GPS SD port - can't remember, but I think that's port 2.

Does the DFGA engine use/burn more oil than the CXXB?

Which engine has the lower ash count - the 2.0 litre Adblu one? I'd think 60g is fairly high, but I guess it depends on how long it will take to add the remaining 20g.

Not due yet if it was last replaced at 90K in 2020 - Skoda removed the 5-year cambelt replacement advice about 2 years ago so that their advice aligned with the rest of VAG world group, I believe present advice is around 120 to 140K without any time limit. You will find plenty regarding this subject on this and other VAG forums.

Kei, kei-jidōsha, light automobile. Good episode on Grand Tour driving 3 Kei cars a few hundred miles in US and then up Pikes Peak ie up to 14k feet. The non turbo one took nearly half an hour and was gasping at the end. Not a problem with electric cars which get quicker with the less air !

Unfortunately, DVSA were not interested in investigating or escalating the issue when I reported this fault to them last year! Their written response was "We do not consider this incident to constitute a fire risk as there was no ignition source present" I had substantial quantities of petrol running down the front of the engine and over the alternator!

There is nit really a choice but to super accelerate the transition from fossil fuel to electric. I cannot think of anyway we can get cheap oil again unless the Middle East Gulf full open until then the UK may have to pay a £1 a litre abd then choose what taxes to levy. The Excise Duty of 52.95 p per litre and VAT at 20% Ad Valorem will be under review. With UK debt approaching £3T the UK had difficult choices. Lots of us who decided to abandon use of hydrocarbons years ago would not want to see precious government money allocated to tax relief on what we see as polluting fuel and the government will be aware actions could tip bielection voting which coukd lead to the loss of the ex PMs constituency to the Greens. I di reckon we will see Excise duty cut for a period of months, maybe 5,8 or 10p a litre but we have to watch thatvtge oil companies don't taje the milk again abd trouser the Excise cut. Hopefully we can get more electric vehicles into all areas. Recipts from fuel already down by about a fifth in the past few years and it will fall away to relatively little in the next decade. We may need to consider rationing of diesel to keep back supply fir farmers, fire engines etc I reckon. Some countries limiting purchases to 20 litres a visit. Maybe we will see speed limits cut to 55 mph as in the oil crisis of '73 ?

Yes brick like but only aimed at city travel really, standard battery is 15 kwh i gather, bigger battery option a massive 20 KWh. Should be good round town. 15 KW motor so top speed only 90 kph, not allowed on motorways, classed as quadricycle. Expected to be £10k or less.

Hello, I would like to ask for your help. I have two different engine. DFGA and CXXB. 2.0 liter with adblue and 1.6 liter without adblue. The oil ash mass quantity is: DFGA - 60g CXXB - 11g The ash mass limit is 80g. Both cars have the same mileage and are used in the same way. Why is there such a big difference between the two numbers? Is 60g a lot? How effective is DPF cleaning? I'm not talking about regeneration. Thank you!

I'd think that the only way to get anything from VW Group at some time in the future, will be to report this failure via the DVSA website - doing that might, just might, eventually get UK Gov to point a gun at VW Group over this issue!

Your automotive controller is no longer synchronizing with the graphics controller, which indicates a timeout issue. Updating or reflashing the same firmware might help. Otherwise, buy a used unit and find someone who can perform a full backup of the automotive controller, transfer the data to the replacement unit, and adjust the mileage.

You might want to tell which infotainment system is installed in your car. Perhaps you could also say which model year your Fabia is from?
