  4. I had same problem there was water or moist in the ecu connection. The windshield had been reaplaced and the plastic lip under the wipers that should click in to the windsield rubber was broken, cousing water to leek to the sraight to ecu connection. Cousing the car to safe mode fans full blast, obd reading nothing. Dried connecions and sealed the crack with silicone now no problem Regards Jon
  5. It maybe a loose connection somewhere or bad earth. The fact that it worked under heavy braking may have moved connector or broken wire. Did you remove and check fuses for looseness and corosion? Sons Mk1 fabia had an intermittent fault and it was a cracked strip fuse in engine bay fuse box. Only noticed when I removed fuse and it broke in two. Alasdair
  6. Fan on full blast obd reads nothing Car in safe mode Check ecu connction for water moist.
  7. Might get one from scrap yard. Did read that early mk1 2000-2004 used 42pin and later 38pin. Had a quick look on lllparts and came up with 6Q0973042A £24.15 but may need to be ordered as low/out of stock. What problems are you having?? Alasdair

  10. Thanks for everyone's knowledge and insight. I've removed the speaker vent with a trim removal tool, and wrapped thin fabric tape around the legs of the clips. It's almost removed the rattle completely, although there is still some very slight rattle. I suspect it's stemming from the contact points of the plastic vent to the top of the dash, but I think it's not noticeable enough for me to continue taping.

  12. Useful! Is that built in to Android, or an app?
  13. Ive checked the plugs but not sure how to test the coil packs. annoying that it had been running perfectly up to this point, washed the car & then this issue appears. will start first time but only run for 5 seconds then dies. a while ago i had codes for camshaft adjuster control valves, I have bought these but not installed as the codes wnt away & car ran fine. will try to change these out this afernoon, not sure if they are removable externally or need to get to them inside the head
  14. I dont have the VCDS software, ive been using an Autel Maxisys odbii scanner, where can the vcds software be obtained?
  15. You told us this several months ago, neither of your cars is a EVO2 in manual, so you wouldn’t be affected.

  17. I have a phone setting which will automatically answer a call after two rings if the phone is connected to something via Bluetooth - so I hear the phone, can look at the display to see who it is, and it auto-answers. I have an Android phone, but I'm sure that the other (inferior) type of phone will have a similar setting.
  18. @rum4mo I think I am correct in saying that the dry clutch mechatronic unit and main gearbox have their own separate dedicated oil systems. The wet clutch DSG has a single oil system that lubricates the gears, acts as an oil bath for the clutches and also provides the fluid for the mechatronic unit. With regard to creeping in traffic - with both wet and dry clutch DSG boxes when the engine is on tickover and the car is moving clutches are fully engaged so they are not slipping but the clutches can overheat with continual slipping. I would suggest that in queuing traffic a slow continuous creep on tickover is better for the DSG clutches than repeatably stopping and pulling away from stationary - the 7 speed DSG boxes tend to try and start off in 2nd which slips the clutch more than starting in 1st. We have a dry clutch Fabia and wet clutch Karoq, and I creep in traffic rather than stop/start all the time whenever possible, if I do have stop I leave quite a big gap to vehicle in front so I can start creeping sooner and not have to use throttle, I dogged same in the manual vehicles I drive.
  19. @pab567 I've also found myself here after a lot of digging and would really appreciate your help. This is what I'm working with currently: VW RNS 510 Part number: 1T0 035 680 C HW: H55 Label SW: 2840 Looking for RNS510-5238A-josi firmware

  21. I had similar with the passenger side headlight on my daughter's Citigo and after a close look the only thing I could spot was that run off from the bonnet dripped between it and the wing directly onto the indicator bulb holder. So I took that out and used some silicon grease on its rubber seal, put some strategically placed duct tape over the top of it to the inner wing to redirect drips away from it and also ran a length of PTFE electrical tape over the top of the headlight where the glass meets the plastic body of the light unit. It's been dry with no condensation since. I'm not sure if the Fabia might be similar but it's probably worth a look / try?

  27. My mate told me today that his April 2019 VW R-Roc 1.5 150PS DADA's DSG - which will be the DQ 200 (dry clutch), at roughly 67,000 miles, handed out its first trans fault warning this week, his DIL who tends to use it most of the time, lost all drive, pulled into the side of the road, cycled the ignition and that sorted that out - for now. It has been taken out of use until it can get looked at. From what he told his VW Group Indie workshop, they are speculating that it will be a case of mecha unit out and sent away for repair - and they said "don't drive it now". Would oil and fluid changes have avoided this, who knows, probably just another accumulator casing failure! Cars of that age were meant to have benefitted from a slightly increased accumulator wall thickness, so maybe so other failure.

  31. Thank you. I think you are right in that the Sport mode primes and monitors the traction more proactively, although I will need to take a look at it because I am unsure if I would want the Sport Electronic Stability Control (ESC) if that comes with it by default? It may be possible in the Individual Mode to select Sport for the 4x4 proactivity but toggle the ESC to Normal rather the Sport? I think the Haldex system is better than ever in the current generation Superb. Earlier Haldex was most definitely reactive. We had it with our older XC90 and you could see this very clearly from outside the car and sense it when attempting to pull away in soft, deeper snow or attempting to push through a snow bank helpfully left for us in the morning by the overnight / dawn snowplough! But Skoda's own page suggests that, even in Normal Mode, the latest Haldex system is primed and proactive, although likely not as proactive as in Sport Mode. I shall have a deeper dive into the configurable menu choices and I wouldn't have given this much thought TBH unless you had mentioned it - thank you. Better to check this now than on a freezing cold morning in the Alps with my ski gloves on! Much appreciated. Best wishes.
