  1. Solved!! Many thanks to e-Roottoot. He suggested that the GPF could be clogged up and needed "blowing through". And indeed the increased fuel consumption was almost certainly due to the GPF. I have just driven one of my usual journeys of 54 miles. Before the fuel consumption increased the car returned 44 mpg. The last three times I have done it, the car did 31or 32 mpg. Tonight I did the first 6 miles with the engine revs between 3 and 4,000 revs all the time and the rest of the journey at normal revs. Overall the car returned 42 mpg, including the inevitably lousy mpg for the first 6 miles. All the information on GPFs say that they clean themselves automatically and do not suffer from the same problems as DPFs. They do not need blowing through. This may well not be true. I will make sure I give it a sympathetic thrashing every now and again to avoid this happening again. Thanks again to e-Roottoot.
  2. I managed to get random, small amounts of polish on some of the black trim, (I normally mask with detailing tape) when I polished the Karoq recently. Bought some Meguirs trim cleaner to keep it looking as new, but still left the unsightly white marks - the answer! - a pencil eraser/ rubber! Rub the erasure on the affected area, wipe off with a clean cloth and hey presto!
  3. Hopefully when they are finished they will police it to prevent ICE'ing adn also EV'ing of the rapid chargers. Pre COVID, the park and ride's round here had very few empty spaces, and it wasn't uncommon to see an EV charging spot occupied by something that shouldn't be there simply because there were no other spaces.
  4. Not England, but Castleview Park & Ride Stirling will have lots of chargers and solar canopies. It is a great pity that while building the 32 charger bit they left just 2 chargers to use. they could have bunged in a couple more in the mean time. https://www.stirlingnews.co.uk/news/18674943.work-ongoing-transform-stirlings-castleview-solar-energy-hub Still not enough Rapid Chargers for those travelling the A9 North / South and heading to England or coming into Scotland. The Electric A9 is an absolute joke still for travelling in an EV.
  5. Excellent news. I have a thought on how to improve charging at motorway services. Firstly let us look at what will actually be needed during the ICE>EV transition. Logically no pumps could be removed for 10+ years since the transition to EV will take longer than that. Even if Govt mandated that only EV's be sold from today on, most ICE cars would still be on the road in 10 years. Secondly if an ICE car can refuel from empty to full via pay at pump in say 5 mins and, at best, an EV like the new Hyundai Ioniq could recharge empty to full in say 25mins, it would mean that when the EV transition is completed around 5 times as many filling stations would be required. Except an EV has half the range when fully charged of an ICE car, so actually the number of EV charging stations would need to double again. That means that at least 10 times as many EV charging stations will be required as current number of petrol pumps at the same location. How can this be achieved whilst the ICE pumps are still needed. Simple, rather than the gridserve model with cars parked in a line at a dedicated EV forecourt, just reline the existing services car park area and leave a 3 foot space to put an EV charger in between where the cars park nose to nose. One charger could serve a car on either side of it facing end on. It would take up very little additional space in the car park doing it this way, be easily extendable as EV adoption increases, and without disrupting the petrol forecourt. In addition as EV's would require a longer stop anyway, it would put them right beside the shops and restaurant so the operator of the services would benefit from increased footfall in the shops, increasing revenue.
  6. As long as all is well with the car and how it drives then no problem. If the oil changes were done correctly and because the owner just wanted them then good. But there was a Service Campaign '34H5' called in 2017 on some DQ200 DSG's from 2013-2015 to do a software update. This was a preventative measure because there were some failures with leaks due to heat or pressure. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions There were and still are garages / dealerships, telling owners that there DQ200 needs services / oil changes and others advising them to. More of a money maker for them really.
  7. Took delivery this week, quartz grey petrol, manual. Polished and waxed today.
  8. I used 25’s on the rear of my PFL Estate, lowered, and it was about as far as you would want out and it worked flawlessly.
  9. 6ft5 here, and for me the tilt angle of seats was too small (38in inseam though). Solution (used by me on many cars, e.g. Civic, Mk1 Octy, Mk1 Superb, Roomster) was to fit a couple of 20mm high hard rubber blocks under front seat rails, with longer screws and spring washers. There is a limit to this adjustment as the seat rails are anchored with pegs at the back. Personally, I could also do with a bit more legroom but as I often have 3 passengers in the car, moving the whole seat further back is not an option. Mk1 Superb was better for legroom, both front and rear Mk3 vRS is not too bad for driver comfort legroom wise, before buying it I tried a Kodiak and blacklisted it after a couple minutes precisely because there was no way my left leg would be comfortable against the centre console. At least in the Mk3 vRS you can rest right foot on the carpet moulding next to accelerator pedal, I blacklisted all new Audis because not only none had the accelerator side footrest, but the side finish there was plastic and your foot slips onto accelerator. I'd say whoever designs Skoda LHD conversions is not very tall
  10. Fair comment from @ords. I did search before posting, for fuel, consumption, increase and other terms. The problem was that I didn't know that I needed to search for GPF. I suspect this will keep happening. Hopefully the conjunction of all these searchable terms in this thread will mean that people will find the answers quickly.
  11. I'm sure e-Roottoot will appreciate the thanks. His time was not wasted as you took his advice. I find increasingly that we give advice & suggestions & then hear nothing. Not even a "like". If people bothered to use the search facility they would find answers to many of their queries, as the same problems keep coming up year after year. Rant over
  12. Funny. I do like Bob, but that has to be one of the least informative reviews I’ve seen him do. “I like this car, I like diesel, I like hybrids, I like petrol” “I don’t like clicking twice on the drive mode select” “I’ll see you on the far side” 👍🏼😎🤣
  13. Indeed. As far as the driver behind is concerned, they have no way of knowing (nor needing to know) why a car has suddenly braked hard. It could be debris or an animal on the road that they can't see. A driver should never drive so close to the car in front that they can't stop if the vehicle in front emergency braked. However, the safe driving method when being tailgated is to ease off and give more space in front, lessening the need for heavy braking as there's more space to react in. Having the car brake hard when it detects something that isn't there defeats that method. Of course this is all the point of the driver aids - working ACC and collision protect will maintain that safe distance and apply the brakes (and beep very loudly) far quicker than even the best driver. But only when it is working : it is vital to have confidence in it - not confidence that it will get you out of trouble, leading to complacency, but confidence that it won't get you into trouble in the first place! So I hope the radar etc gets fixed. I totally get being wary of a vehicle that's taking over control when it shouldn't, and I hope your dealer takes it seriously and confirms the fix.
  14. Why not Google it? Skoda Yeti 1.2 petrol G140 downstream o2 sensor - Google Search Colin
  15. The Skoda Update Portal does still show maps for the MIB1 Amundsen if you enter a VIN - but it's the 2020/21 map from June 2020 not the expected 2021 map from November 2020. I've used the VW file (and can confirm that it is 100% identical to the Skoda map) but the VW website is also only offering the 2020/21 map from June 2020 - yes it says it been updated in November but it's lying (I've done a 100% comparison with the June map and it's identical). So it seems the three year or five year limit is unproven? I'll have to hassle Skoda UK AGAIN
  16. Your vRS sat perfectly Sasha. What spacers did you have on the front?
  17. Hello SashaGrace Which company fitted your reversing camera please? I've just bought a Skoda Superb Estate 1.6 SE Technology TDI Greenline 5D 118 BHP Diesel and would like to fit a reversing camera that fully integrates into the central console (just like a factory original). Thanks very much.
  18. YW, keep the exhaust so you can keep your money in your pocket, just service the car properly, fix stuff that breaks and drive the wheels off it.
  19. The high pitched hum for a minute will be the electric aux coolant pump, which continues to pump coolant to cool the turbo bearing for approx one minute after shutdown. If you look at the coolant reservoir you will notice the coolant being returned. It does this on shutdown regardless of engine temperature btw. I still think you still need to go through the diagnostic adaption routine. It would highlight if the shim you have fitted is the incorrect thickness or even is not required. An incorrect shim will cause it to go into limp mode. The youtube video I posted suggests that by repeating the sequence of turning on ignition, waiting for the actuator to go through its initialisation then turning off ignition, around 15 times, will be sufficient to re-adapt. You could try but I have my doubts, as I understand it, you probably first need to establish if the shim thickness is correct by running VCDS adaption and checking the voltages returned by the actuator's position sensor are within limits.

It would be the opposite. I'm wondering if GPS is having a hand in this. Have you been flashed at night by cars travelling in the opposite direction? If not, then I would suggest that there's little to worry about.
  21. thanks for the responses @chimaeraand @PipH The RAC man disconnected the battery then drained whatever was lurking in the system, and put the battery back in and it was fine. plenty of erroneous error codes needed to be cleaned up from the system and the car is back to being awesome again. the most likely cause would have been when i put the battery back after a charge it created a spark and that sent the system into some sort of meltdown. i didn't know, but when removing a battery the black comes off first then the red and when putting back on, red goes on first then the black, making sure one carefully insulates the black as much as possible during this. so all probably my fault, but resolved now.
  22. Thanks for that, in fact, I connected up the laptop etc and had a ferret around, found the relevant section and ran thro' the various stages and the white nylon(?) top had been pushed out, so fairly easy to get the filter out etc. Drained the system, mounted new filter, replaced drain plug and recharged the unit using a 60ml syringe, when overflow occured replaced fill plug and took the car for a short run, checked oil level, needed a small addition. Because its my first attempt , took about 2 hours, now I estimate about an hour for the next time!
  23. Hi Arsen. Just saying hello, so you don't feel lonely! Sorry, I can't help...
  24. I can understand you wanting to reject the car and having no confidence in the system even if it is supposedly repaired in case it happens again etc. What I am struggling with is that you wont drive the car and your partner refuses to get in it with the system switched off. I believe that you deserve a refund, if you bought the car for and/or paid extra for these systems you cannot be expected to forego the use of them, if you buy another car would you want these systems again or would you avoid them?
  25. New Skoda owner here. Have been loving it except for some very serious discomfort in my right leg but I'm hoping this can be rectified somehow! Have posted about it here and have done a heap of reading. Fingers crossed. Here's my new beast. Such a nice car (if I can fix my discomfort issue). Fully opted minus the powered tailgate. From Australia BTW.
  26. Just a general observation. Not aimed at any paricular poster.
  27. The Alu pedals and footrest from a golf r mk7 are perfect fit. Takes little time, just soaked the accelerator one in hot water to make the rubber more flexible to squeeze on. My example is RHD Skoda dealer told me there was a skoda option for RHD, quoted me £120 for pedals and footrest, then gave me a set of pedals without footrest for a superb mk2 after waiting weeks... AliExpress 30-something quid including postage and customs taxes which are prepaid upfront, job done. V happy. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLER5ix
  28. I am around your height and get similar problems even on a non vrs on longer journeys. Leg being at a funny angle I think as well as the bolsters as I don’t think the pedals line up where my legs naturally want to fall. I used to find the extension section on Audi etc quite helpful.
  29. An OEM pad and holder. Skoda offered it as an option on the Superb where VW didn’t on the Passat. I’ve vowed to spend no more money on the car until pay day but I’m really struggling lol 😂
  30. Its probably caused by the support of the leg area of the seat. The VRS seats are great, but I'm 6'2" and even I occasionally feel the support issues. The problem is that the seat is tilted too far back. Use the hand to the right and pull up a couple of times. This will reduce the leg room further but allow for blood flow to recommence. You now need to push the seat back down using the large knob on the RHS to give you additional space.

Managed to swap the blue one with another dealer to get the best colour...
  32. Ah sorry thought it was done remotely. All good then. Enjoy the mods

The usual VW Lost in Translation. It can hold on all slopes, but the pedal has to be pressed hard enough to enable it. You can hold the car on the throttle which they advice not to, or on the foot brake and not activate Hill Hold Assist or use the Parking brake. It can hold the car for 2 seconds, That does not mean that the cars has to stay there for 2 seconds if you press the accelerator. Same with Autohold really that you need not push the brake pedal hard enough to have it function. Reason i know is i have only one foot and drive autos, and have driven DSG's for over 10 years now. Try it yourself tomorrow and you will see that you can use the brake and not have HHA / HHC hold the car for 2 seconds as you go from brake pedal to the throttle. If it works everytime on a 5 degree or more slope that is a new one on me.

Thanks everyone. I will make sure I put the handbrake on before selecting P.
  35. Maxspeeding rods are a good company, I have bought a couple of aircon compressors and rear brake calipers from them.
  36. You need to carry out the wastegate adaption using VCDS. Alternatively you could always try this
  37. Hi PipH, sorry for the late reply, yes I did look into the plastic inlet manifold and it didnt look too bad, I have stripped out the EGR and cooler cleaned it and am about to refit it back, took plenty of pics and listed how the parts come out so will do a guide to show others. cheers Stuart

Sorry, this might be really obvious but after nearly 3 years of ownership, I still clueless. Is there supposed to be a icon anywhere confirming that the dipped beam lights are on? I get the main beam blue icon when there on and when side lights are on, the dial lights them up on the switch but nothing for dipped. On the MK 2 scout, I have icon on the dash.
  39. Ok the correct harness is this one https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPh1i19
  40. @ordsI was going to say the same. Usually servicing a car is a good idea, but maybe @automass should leave his car unserviced.
  41. Looking Good DM.. The rear looks a bit high .. I have a set of back lowering springs that I took off mine ... They were the only parts that I was able to save after all the work after Christmas ! They are only kicking around our garage now so give me a PM and let me know where they are going to..! I'll only end up chucking them so waste not want not !! This what she looked like with them on !
  42. Octavia VRS iV. - Meteor grey Picked it up last Friday and detailed it with a ceramic coating also.
  43. Before and after pics of latest bit replacing the basic stereo but retaining / expanding the functionality.
  44. Some battery brands don't last very long. I have had Duracel that have lasted about 9 months which I bought from their online website. If the battery dies on you push the key fob against the stop/start button that will get you going. I usually carry a couple spare batteries in the car. Joe
  45. At 3:40. That's the single outdated Chademo+Type2 charger at Leigh Delamere. It's a horrible stop where other nearest charger are ~20 miles away each way. I have stopped a few times because it's the perfect location for London-Bristol for my Leaf. But EVERYTIME I am extremely anxious approaching this place. Great news, long overdue!
  46. 1ks, I've ordered them. Thanks for that. That's what the impact wrench is for lol
  47. Package arrived today. No import charges etc. All good
  48. This happened to me a few years ago and I had a. 2 year battle to get it taken of the MIB register even though my insurance company accepted I wasn’t anywhere near the so called incident had taken place. If I hadn’t searched for cheaper renewal quote I wouldn’t have known there was a claim registered to me as the insurance company said it had not been .Please check yours as I wouldn’t want you to have the same problems I had.
  49. Probably the three best colours Skoda have ever done.
