  1. Chillax , embrace the technology, you get used to the auto lights doing their thing, and they are very good at doing it. If it’s dark it’s easy enough to see the lights are on, when it’s raining they come on automatically, and all it needs is a customary glance at the light switch to check. The only situation they might get caught out is when it’s misty and you might have to turn them on manually.
  2. And onto the next Bike/Project As some of you know I have just sold my 2020 BMW S1000R Sport last Week and have been scouring the Used Bike Market for something no replace it with, I had a shortlist of about 10 Bikes all differing in age and style of Bike. I had a 1999 Honda Fireblade a few Years back and always promised myself a 2006/2007 Model if the right example popped up and in the Red/Black Colour Scheme. In my opinion these are one of the best looking Fireblades with the Underseat Exhaust and Upside Down Forks, The Styling changed post 2008 and I have never been much of a fan of those later Bikes. Well last night the stars aligned and the right Bike in the right Colour located at a Dealership I know very well came up. Spotted the advert during my Break last night, Finished my Afternoon shift at 1am and drove up to Leeds this morning for when they opened as I have missed out on Bikes like this in the past so wasn't going to let it happen this time. Did all my usual poking around and for a 15 Year old Bike it has the usual very minor age related marks here and there but it really is superb and I had to remind myself of its age when I was been hypercritical. I decided I was having it and got the Deal I was happy with, The Bike is getting a Interim Service including Oil & Filter, Spark Plugs, Brake Fluids. They are removing the Datatool Alarm as they are a PITA and I hate them, They are Delivering the Bike and knocked £200 off the price. Happy Days! Comes at some point next Week so will be going straight into the Garage for some usual Bonelorry treatment. The Bike... 2006 Honda CBR1000RR-6 Fireblade, Last of the Lightweights 176KG/170BHP. No Electronics, No Rider Aids etc. 11300 Miles 4 Previous Owners Very good Service History with about 8 Stamps Has a few really nice extra's too Akrapovic Carbon Can with Titanium Link Pipe £700 Worth Genuine Colour Coded Rear Pillion Seat Cover Genuine Honda Tank Protector R&G Aero Frame Protectors Powerbronze Screen Rear Paddock Stand Bobbins Future Plans... The Bike is already very well prepared and is a credit to its previous owners but I want to go through it all. I want to replace the Front Screen for an MRA or something like that, The Powerbronze one fitted is showing its age. Replace the Paddock Stand Bobbins for some Evotech Items. Other than that just leave it alone and enjoy it, Obviously it will be for Summer use only and on a limited Mileage basis but I am planning on getting a Second Bike of similar age but that offers a totally different riding experience to keep my options open but we shall see. Couple of Dealership Images, Will post some fresh ones when I get the Bike...
  3. AliExpress gloss black front splitter is the latest addition to Slimer.
  4. My first Yeti (2010) had the green headlights indicator on the dash, my second (2013) didn’t.

Not posted for ages but thought you might be interested to know that I've agreed today to part ex my ĺ&k 280 hatchback. Coming up to 3 years old but less than 13k on clock. Velvet red with cream leather, clean both inside and out. Dealers adamant there are no new l&k's out there but I'm chuffed cos I snagged literally the only brand new sportline 280 in the UK. Comes with loads of expensive options and I got a great deal. Black interior so will be a real change from the old l&k, so excited!
  6. You can't go wrong witha Skoda Octavia DSG IMO 👏😁😁
  7. I guess i'll use my first post in this thread This is my Octavia, it's my first ever brand new car and i'm mostly happy with it, the cool part is that it's the only car i've seen and because of that it catches people's attention on the street, almost everyone buys the SW version of cars in Portugal and it makes the car version more unique and stand out more in the case of the new Octavia, they really nailed the design (both inside and outside) and i absolutely love it. My only issue with the car so far honestly is the rattles the car developed in the front door panels (seems to be the chrome trim's fault) and a thumping noise coming from the boot which is more noticeable on smooth roads, i think it's the gate itself, i've adjusted the rubber stops to the max and seems to have helped but it still happens. Will take the car to the dealer as soon as i can since i work shifts and it's hard to schedule it. A bit disappointed that a car with only 2000km already has interior rattles but i'm guessing it's "new car" stuff that can be fixed.
  8. Right. I managed to remove the chrome-coloured grill surround, got a screwdriver in, and flicked the latch. Turns out I had somehow moved the lever past the latch and it I had to bring it back. Anyway it’s fixed.

Open passenger door and use the key in the switch marked air bag.
  10. Quite! Indeed, these were fitted before I got the car, which was recently. The dealer has agreed to meet the cost of balancing.

The story has taken me back 35 years to a formative moment in my life when I did a Luke while pulling out a tree stump with my Shogun, I did not have a father as a mentor but the sub-conscious influence of my deceased mother made me do the right thing even though as someone who had to duck & dive to survive from a really early age it was against all my instincts. I never regretted it and was repaid in spades decades later by the now deceased neighbour.
  12. I think in English its called ,,ricer,,😁 You are of course entitled to opinion and i absolutely get that it may not be everyone's cup of tea ( my missus is one of them😆) don't worry no offence taken😎 To my defence...i bought superb sportline 280 for what it is...quickest Skoda and only thing that is missing in my eyes is louder exhaust. On the few occasions i do put it in Sport mode i really do want to have more exhaust note. Otherwise deep note of exhaust with closed valves will be fine with me... If i wanted quiet car i would bought L&K
  13. OK folks. Now have the Quartz Grey 2.0 TDi and today (Friday) finally got the Towbar fitted. Caravan to be serviced next week and tyres to be changed (over five years old now and with COVID it's been sat in one spot for months) and away the week after. Stress levels have been high the last few weeks so looking forward to the break. Best of luck to those having similar problems. Chris

  15. Hi, does anyone have experience with this? The bonnet is releasing from the pull inside the cabin and pops up. I can feel the lever under the bonnet and move it from left to right, but nothing happens. I wonder if it is snapped or just not making contact? The car isn’t running - suspect battery connection or something worse - so moving it isn’t easy, and I can’t get my head under it. From underneath I can reach up and touch the top of the fan but no further. If anyone has any tips, pictures or anything, I’d be hugely appreciative. It’s a diesel 57 plate Octavia, but it is the Mark I body.
  16. @ManlyJPanda - The release lever is not the greatest of designs. I suggest you also apply copper or lithium grease to the locking catch fairly reguarly.
  17. Wiring: Pin number at sensor connection Wire colour Pin number at ECU/other 1 green 70 2 black 71 3 blue/red From fuse 43 4 white 5 5 grey/white 51 6 grey/red 52
  18. Part number on my euro car parts receipt is 710443307 but that might be their part number. It was £91.64 inc vat. My car is a 2002 VRS
  19. I got all these codes the other month, engine management light was on and the car was running rough. The previous owner had fitted a new front sensor about 6 months earlier (NGK) so I was reluctant to think it was at fault. Hours and hours of tracing the wiring back to the ECU, replacing engine earths, resistance tests on the plug / pins etc I finally chucked the towel in and ordered a brand new Bosch sensor from ecp. Cured the fault and the car now runs miles better.
  20. Thanks to all for the posts. I ran Waze today and it's definitely better than Google maps.
  21. e-roottoot don't know if your fae glasgow m8 but we get alot of rain and very bad roads so just to let u know ye cannae see them when filled way rainwater also we have a saying if you can't say nothing good don't say anything no the first time you respond first way yer ****e patter ya rocket 🚀🚀

Same here. I stick a label inside each wheel saying which corner of the car it came off from and use that as a guide to sort out the wheels when refitted next change time
  23. XC may be a tad aggressive thinking about it... A read for starters... should keep you in the good books with OH hopefully 😏 https://www.mbr.co.uk/buyers_guide/best-mountain-bikes-under-1000-394580
  24. Rate of change I could buy into, but not the optimal mapping for lambda 1 closed loop control. But then the ECU is already programmed to react to the rate of change of the control inputs from the vehicle controls. Emissions control will always over-ride fast control inputs. We can agree that the assertion "Modern cars learn your driving style and then it's fixed!" is bull****
  25. So the car came in to Corbett's, just needs to be prepped and registered and we will be driving it on Friday 😁😁
  26. Let me know how you get on mate,I haven't really had a petrol car, i think i drove one on holiday once years ago.
  27. Is there a key operated switch in the glovebox, that's where it normally 'hides'?
  28. In reality, for a standard manufacturer supplied spare wheel, the tyre width will decrease and the aspect ratio will increase quite a bit, as the plan is just to retain the same rolling radius and cheaply provide a safe temporary spare wheel.

I use these https://www.powerbulbs.com/store/category/philips-xtreme-extreme-vision-car-headlight-bulbs BUT and it is VERY important, irrespective of what bulbs you use, having the headlights set correctly is most important and makes a HUGE difference..............NOTE setting correctly is NOT the same as passing an MOT.
  30. Not sure 03xx can be upgraded to 04xx they are for different head units. I have 0478 on my Amundsen 2.5. @pab567 will be able to help.
  31. Yes if you go up a profile on the tyre it will have the same rolling circumference. So if you have 16 inch wheels and a 15 inch spare then if the tyres on the car are 215/30/16 then the spare can be 215/40/15.

Thats a good idea. I’ll make certain I get some “after” shots for my records.
  33. This might be a total sideways and unrelated but the brother in laws beloved TDi Golf IV had this exact scenario after being laid up and it turned out to be the cam sensor - She would fire up and run for 1 sec - We were of the notion that it was a dirty fuel filter or low fuel pressure and ended up in a rabbit hole. Worth a look to rule it out or in anyways !
  34. Monaco is where the money is. F1 is a business, not a sport, after all. If it wasn't for DRS it would be awfully uneventful on most tracks though.
  35. Hi Koreenium So it looks like it's a common problem with this car then, I'm guessing I might aswell just clean it out 6 months or so as it still drives fine. And looking at that photo it's pointless for me changing the seal if they just go again. Thanks
  36. That's just people being lazy and not do the job properly! Wheels should be balanced no matter where they are fitted!
  37. It can, by regularly rotation, help to stop the sawtooth pattern on the inside edge of the tyres developing. This is normally noticed by a wheel bearing type noise. Thanks, AG Falco
  38. The only indication that the headlights are on is the symbol on the headlights switch illuminates.

Yeah, it's not great, but this has turned out about as well as it could do. It's not easy to own up to stuff like that when you're his age, but he's done the right thing eventually. I look forward to pics of the seamless repair!
  41. If his lips were moving then anything you heard was bull****! If they weren't then you imagined it, in which case there is a far greater chance (albeit very remote) of it being true

Hope it wasn’t too rough on the tongue!
  44. You dont have to, but a yearly oil and filter is probably the cheapest preventative maintenance you can do to an engine. you can get oil and filter cheaply, use a pella oil sucker rather than bothering with the sump plug, filter no problem to change I still do my land cruiser every year at 22 years old.
  45. Thanks for your advice to me. I cooled down again and tried setting it up in VCDS. I was able to fix the problem area this time! Thank you all.
  46. I'm just wondering about replacing the seats in my 63 plate estate. They're getting a little tatty and I thought it was worth asking if anyone has swapped out their seats? Current ones are heated/electric in the front. Any other options? thx

My Wife's the same, after 30 years of driving manuals, the Polo is her first DSG, and she'll never go back to a manual. Gaz
  48. The ice scraper is very effective, used a few times this winter. Handy to have except when the fuel filler flap was frozen shut!
  49. @omnipeta That dealership took the pith and were paid for doing the Fix without you having signed to accept it. Unless they had you sign your car in and slipped the agreement not just on Software updates but the VW Emissions fix. Personally i would have parked my car right where the desk is that the Dealer Principal sits looking at his wages and commission. Brake failure or some such error, must have been some software glitch.
