  1. Just to report back after a week and 120 miles that my fix using the heat shrink cable tied into place over the plunger has stopped the warning light flashing up on the dashboard. Worth considering if your car is suffering a similar problem.
  2. It's probably worth me checking that relay first before i start forking out for new ignition switch haha thank you for your input mate, really appreciate it. They were all decent tonight (wife had it on whilst I was researching haha) gutted about AJ and Kai

I did what Wino suggested, applied the hadbrake just until it caught. One side was a bit weaker than the other. Gave it a good clean, retighened the handbrake and on the first click of the hadbrake they both seem very grippy. However one of the cylinders has leaked once and compromised the grip under pedal braking. Bought the new shebang kit again including new drums. Back on the road.

I picked up my Race Blue Petrol vRS today ordered at the end of march so 9 months wait , it was worth the wait so far , nice chunk cash back from dealer as well ( equity from previous vRS ) happy days
  5. ... which is why I stopped watching F1 for many years - Ferrari having different rules to all other teams and Michael Schumacher not being penalised for major driving misdemeanours just became too much for me to stomach. Now it seems the rules are different for Red Bull and Verstappen - deja vu???
  6. Hah - It looks like we use similar products. I washed mine today with Bowden's Own "Snow Job", then Meguire's "Gold Class" Car wash and finished with Bowden's "Boss Gloss".
  7. The weather can still be best described as Dreich, although the conditions make for somewhat atmospheric photos............
  8. Being gay myself, I was hoping the lads to win, but as you say, it doesn't really matter as they all did great 👍
  9. The wait is over. Episode 37 has been released to the public tonight.

Parks and they have been really poor however I’ve had two Hondas and various other makes from Parks over many years without any problems so I might just be unlucky this time Repeatedly asked Skoda and Parks to speak to each other without success
  11. Thanks for the info Nige. I located the control unit. It had a very strong smell of a sort of burning and there is a lot of sticky gunge around it. Thanks for you r help. Graham.
  12. Not the full shilling and a PITA. eg Douglas Ross MP / MSP. Big scunner and bampot.

Top man, this thread was in danger of rambling off into the middle of bumblefork nowhere...

I'm told my VRS TSI hatch (no options, Race Blue) will be arriving at the dealer any day now, so delivery to me early in the new year. Ordered beginning of March so 10 months lead time if delivery goes as expected. It was originally a MY21 build in Meteor Grey but had to change to Race Blue when converted to an MY22 build. I suspect my place in the build queue was reset when it was converted to the new model year. Might explain some of the inconsistencies in the way other orders are being fulfilled too (ignoring the larger semiconductor issue).
  16. Does anyone else still on the forum miss the good old days when we had now't to argue about other than whether 16" or 17" wheels were better on a Yeti? (Of course really it was never in doubt that 16" wheels was the superior choice). Light touch paper and retire to a safe distance.......
  17. I have to say that I have found the whole 'infotainment' side of ownership somewhat frustrating - from the start trying to get the car to recognise me as the Primary User etc has not been an enjoyable journey.... I'm pretty tech friendly both at home , in cars and in work as am=n aircraft engineer but this thing really confounds me at times. My iV is an ex-demonstrator that first went on the road in early September 2020 although the build date according to the documents was 11 July 2020 - just about the time that it could either be 'one of those' specs or 'one of the other' specs. Even trying to suss out the correct version of the Owner's Manual is dependent on which way you access the information from Skoda. The Owner's Manual linked from MySKODA has an issue date of 16 Sep 2019, but if you go via the Skoda UK Owner's Manual website page and choose a production date of 07/2020, the manual date that you would think is the correct one, is an issue date of 20 Jul 2020 - ie after my car was built. But apparently not! I did purchase the online services (nice little sideline of an earner but I see other manufacturers will be charging subscriptions for even how the car performs in the future...) and assumed, seeing as no instructions appeared saying 'now to do this', that the new features (News, Weather, Traffication and Diary) would appear. When they didn't, I went searching and realised I had to visit the Shop on the Columbus and download/install them. Then this thread pops up and you see others with various 'icons' for Connect, Routes, POIs etc - none of which I could find. Not even using the MySKODA app could I work out how to send routes to the Columbus from the iPhone - or even via the Skoda Connect Portal. I've been using the MySKODA app since I got the car 9 months ago for setting departure time charge rates etc. I have just found this Skoda site which may be of use (perhaps everyone knows it exists already!): Availability List (skoda-auto.com) This confirms my car is in the 'up to 07/2020' production period. Now that shows the complete list of available services: So, if I put my iV's VIN number in, the availability list slims down to this: Therefore, I reckon that I just don't have those route import features available. But I do have Weather and News - so that doesn't work either! Bit of a first world problem but incredibly frustrating searching for the information and coming up with a load of different Skoda website pages, often claiming different things. I bought the car from Caffyn's Skoda in Tunbridge Wells. They're not remotely close to me but had the car for sale during my 'lockdown car shopping' game and they have looked after me very well since. I haven't troubled them over this as I doubt there are may dealers who can really work out what infotainment options a particular car has. Anyway, it passes the time of day and night....

How do you think that a scan tool would refute "something" wrong with the gearbox on a 16 year old vehicle? There may have seemed to be nothing wrong with the gearbox function if you drove it but as it is not a testable item the "something" will probably have been an oil leak or an observation of a failing mounting, both of which could cause a lot of expense if not corrected. Advisories on MOT tests should be investigated and actioned if they are going to cause problems and not dismissed, many will not of course but are there to cover them should something occur.
  19. my guess with this is one of the level sensors on the axles has died and the lights have gone into a safe mode. Have a look at them under the car and seof they are siezed or the connecting rods between axle and sensor are broken.
  20. I think today's weather can best be described as Dreich!
  21. On the MK2 the vents are located underneath the rear lights but behind the bumper, they are clipped into the bodywork of the car and have rubber flaps on the outside but are sealed by a rubber type seal, normally they do not throw out a problem but usually after the car has had a rear shunt and been repaired by a garage that does not take care to put things back tidy, to get it sorted the lights have to bee both removed and also the rear bumper you can then see the rubber flaps both sides and check which one or both that are not fitted properly or are damaged or broken, good luck with this trying to get dealers to sort it out my mate gave up with the garage in the end as they had the car 6 times we told them what was wrong but they insisted it wasn't that and we did the job ourselves no parts needed just refitted +everything correctly with a little help of some clear sealer non solvent, some said it was the rear light seal but this was dry underneath the lights it was coming in further down the side which is where these flaps/seals are, some also said just drill a hole in the bottom of the wheel well !!
  22. North Nottinghamshire
  23. Janette and Aljaz were sensational at the end too, with Ed Sheeran firmly in the background. Please let us know how you get on with the relay.
  24. Race Blue will be available in the UK. Steel Grey in the UK = Meteor Grey All your info is from forgein countries
  25. After driven a Superb S3 for 2.5 years/180k km, I switched to a Tesla Model 3 Performance (primarily for tax reasons). It really was a fun car, but really lacked in space. When I got a new job offered that didn’t include a car, I decided to buy a S3 again. Happy to be back
  26. Welcome back to Superb-dom and to the forums.
  27. Sounds very much like the problem I had. It'll drain the battery if it happens when you aren't around to hear it, and do whatever makes it stop. If you can do an OBD scan, the fault code that indicates a relay problem is P086B.
  28. And herein lies the issue I was talking about - trying to turn the damn things off 'auto' is harder than it should be. You have to push forward to turn 'auto' off (but the beams are still on), then pull back to turn the beams off. By the time you've remembered all that and done it, you've blinded the person coming towards you.
  29. My point is that it's automatic now. Anyway I haven't had to do it yet, so can't really comment on whether it can be disabled or not.
  30. mk3 began towards the end of 2014, and i believe mk3.5 is the 2017-ish facelift, with a new infotainment, but the owners handbook would be the best place to consult for making these changes, as for the lights i know some specs have a "coming home" feature that leaves the headlights on for a few minutes after you get out of the car which might also keep the interior light on, my car doesnt have this option though
  31. But of course you are right - 2 high spec Yeti’s both with 16” wheels direct from factory!! Heads down.......
  32. You really need a three leg puller for that... Get it on, put a bit of tension on it then tap it lightly with a hammer. The alternative would be to get a Dremel cutting disc on it. Usually waggling the arm in and out loosens them but that looks well stuck on

Afternoon all, Just joined up in the hope of finding some technical help (I know, I'll head to the right forum section shortly!), so I guess I'd best introduce myself. I'm Neil, and I've had my 2007 Fabia 1.4 diesel for about 5 years. Wife had one previously that got written off, so when my big old Audi needed replacing, I got my Fabia. I'm really into much older cars, had aircooled VWs since I was 17 (in the mid 90s!) and drag raced them for several seasons, done ground up restorations on them and I'm even building one at school with my pupils, so obviously welding and mechanical work holds little fear for me. Its just all those wires... Anyway, I'm based just outside Kidderminster, which seems to be a hotbed of modified VAG stuff, I've lost count of the number of interesting vehicles I've seen round here! Cheers!

OP was sorted a good while back. Rimmer Bros I use occasionally and I found one of their telephone salesman to be openly honest when I asked about the quality of the steering rack gaiters as a previous set, not from them, only lasted 6 months of light winter use. Later Midgets use the Triumph style rack, I check before buying a new Argentinian made rack but it was still different from original, and poor quality boots. Toss I've found to have a system of management and directors that seems to require some (all?) staff to flat out lie rather than admit a mistake. All main and most smaller general parts suppliers have good, bad and very bad parts they continue to sell. For the Triumph as I live fairly close I used to go to TSSC at Lubenham, had bits off Canley and a few other places I forget now but as I'm not very mechanical it's never anything like internal engine parts (except HG). A few years later I discovered that a friend of a friend actually works on the cars at the TSSC HQ and he confirmed what I already knew about one of the club's favoured members and their garage. I never done anything that I can remember with the local club as they didn't seem to actually drive their cars with their main event being a camping weekend at a park 3 miles from where I live, the one opposite the sewage treatment works and next to a busy trunk dual-carriageway, it didn't appeal to me. 😄
  35. Could be but use a real contact cleaner, not Water Dispersant 40! It could also be a fuse, but I don't know which of the many it would be. Just to confirm, the front screen washer is ok?

Knowing British Laylow fitting QI bulbs to replace the standard tungsten ones would be a major upgrade.
  37. I have the exact same set-up, it is tight. If after reversing the caravan onto the pitch I don't jump out of the car, apply the caravan's handbrake and pull the car forward a few inches to release the damper then when I lift the caravan off the tow ball and the damper releases it makes contact with the rear bumper.
  38. that’s good to hear. I enquired with superchips a few weeks about about this but no one got back to me. Have seen on various forums the DQ200 can’t take a map, some say it can, but haven't actually heard from anyone that has had it done.
  39. The noise is one of the problems with wide, low profile tyres such as 235/45R18. Michelin Alpin 6 in size 225/60R16 would have been so much quieter and more comfortable. Although you do need at least 17" rims to clear the front brake calipers if you have those big 340mm diameter front brake discs. All the 272HP/280HP Superb MK3 models do have such big front discs, so not an option for those cars. 40. ‘ Asked to clarify whether he was saying Hamilton would be penalised for not attending the gala, he said: "Forgiveness is always there. But rules are rules.’ …errr unless it’s all lapped cars overtake and then safety car in…..or we could change the rules to suit the occasion. F1 hypocrisy at its usual level.
  41. In case it's any help to anyone in the future, the cause of this problem turned out to be a faulty relay (the 645 one in the engine bay fuse box), which was discombobulating the ECM. Did a Carista scan, searched the fault code in this forum and found that a very helpful user called Bob3 had experienced and sorted the very same problem.

As long as the appropriate checks in the MOT Inspection manual are completed it doesn't matter how, unless directed by the manual. It's an interesting read! 🤓 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles
  43. Did some photos after placing protection film and ceramic coating on my Superb.

They leave them running to keep the cat lit, it gives them the best chance of passing the emissions test.
  45. Thank you P-J. When I use my laptop to view the files on the stick, they are numbered, but not on the bolero. I'll investigate those links you kindly provided; it would be nice to see the album art too.
  46. Skoda have history here, they've done it for years, as I'm sure other manufacturers do too. For launch they stuff the vehicles full with features and innovation, the Kodiaq was no exception being their first 7-seater SUV. Then as the product passes through its typical life cycle, cost savings are implemented. This doesn't mean the product doesn't improve, or benefit from additional features not available at launch, but it can often result in what some might see as penny-pinching. It all depends on how you perceive certain aspects of your vehicle. For some it matters, especially those moving from one to another but it could be argued that those new owners who have no experience of the older versions are less likely to notice. Perhaps Skoda are less interested in loyalty / returning customers than they are of attracting new customers and taking market share? This was the list of changes to the Kodiaq a few years ago (MY19 to MY20 I think), there have been plenty of others before and no doubt after... Removal of door safety lights, now replaced with reflectors Removal of passenger side footwell net Removal of chrome on window switches Removal of rear door sill plates Removal of net program in boot Removal of removable flashlight in boot Removal of seat rail covers Footwell lighting no longer standard, now only included with ambient lighting package Exterior mirror lighting is now only available with electric memory front seats Interior rear-view mirror now always black instead of headliner colour 5 seater: two bag hooks instead of four 7 seater with spare wheel: removal of cover under loading floor Sleep Package: One blanket now included instead of two Umbrella: only one included instead of two SportLine/vRS: rear badges now black SportLine: air vent frames now black instead of chrome vRS/L&K/Scout: Removal of logos on rear seat rows

Took it for a little spin this morning. It's like a blinking go kart! The supercharger whine is addictive! Got a few niggles I'm working through. Discovered the second O2 sensor is shorting and blowing a fuse which affects a few things. I've disconnected it for the time being and the fuse is no longer blowing! Need to sort what I want to do with the wheels too. I need a new stereo as I need Bluetooth streaming. Finally (for now) I need to sort the bodywork. The bonnet is slightly off centre so it overhangs on one side by a few MM. I also need to tidy up the headlights and the interior trim as it's a bit worn and tired..some has been wrapped badly so needs to come off or be replaced.
