  1. "You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently, the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together."
  2. Unless the point is to make you jealous and/or annoy or upset you, in which case I'd argue it has proved its point 😜. On a slightly more serious note - isn't any car that can do more than 70mph pointless in this country? Or any car that has less than 5 seats? Or any car that has less than x litres of boot space? The point of the Kodiaq VRS is to give middle aged idiots like me something that's pretty decent fun to drive, but can still carry around the entire family + dog + bikes, and/or a boot full of crap from Ikea. It's a jack of all trades, and even if it doesn't quite master any of them perfectly, you can't really argue that it's pointless.
  3. Longest I've ever run a car (previous was a MkIV Golf that I ran for about 96k miles). It's been a great car, loads of trips to France and running the kids all over the country for their hobbies (track cycling and music respectively!). This was on yesterday's trip from Coventry to the Welsh National Velodrome in Newport! Looking to change soon but waiting for prices to be less crazy 😞
  4. Depends if you're coming from Hawes?
  5. This is anther update since I fixed this wiring near the gearbox. The electric windows have been working fine as well so must be all linked to this problem.
  6. The front new coil springs I went for Lesjofors. I also replaced the top mounts and bearings. The old springs must have gone weak over time lower to the arches . The car sits much higher now from the arch bigger gap new springs. I can see a big difference in the handling now to.
  7. Just a 1600 Super. Purbeck Grey with a hand painted matt black mock vinyl roof Dillon was a great cat - bequeathed to us by a colleague who emigrated to the USA. Huge but gentle - he was the kids' best mate when they were tiny. Even my F-I-L who was a dyed-in-the-wool dog person couldn't resist him when he suddenly arrived on his lap
  8. Thanks for the help! Was one wire dead that goes into fuse box in engine bay
  9. I'd love them to pay attention @J.R. and, from the info above, many are - they are just trying to find a way of stopping the relentless messaging that the system is unavailable when the sensor is covered in snow 😉 - which would likely require the car to know it was snowing (or to have some way of turning the bloody warnings off!)

got another update friday afternoon, delivery due 18/03/2022.fingers crossed.
  11. no. People can be driving quite happily in manual driving just as you describe, and the warnings all kick off so people are rightly woindering is there a fault or is it just because of the conditions.
  12. ..and even you have your place in our community who have no car related direct questions just want to have some attantion and watch a couple of us taking your post seriously I’m really glad that almost all of our silly questions here (in this forum) are treated well and will be answered in short time. Even if we diced the car, at full moon, drinking black cat blood.. So, what you are saying is true, and I agree with it, but I feel “you like to watch things burn” instead of help. Just realised (again), why I try to avoid facebook and such forums.. (That’s all from me on this sunny Sunday morning. Might wash the car today.)
  13. I had them. Ended up binning them eventually. When fitted they really are quite dark. In summer when the kids wanted the windows down, they got fed up of the blinds being there and at night, it did make rear visibility a little harder. But the worst thing was that they faded in the sun and after a year or so, they were light grey, not black!
  14. @MiniNinjaRob Fraid that some Octavia 4 owners are a twitchy lot. I would be if I had been sold a half baked pup with design and software faults galore, some or many of which seem unfixable. Try a different forum like the Superb 3, no sense of humour there either, but some very expensive modding in between the intense polishing.
  15. The weather / inclement weather / road conditions where drivers can not use CC or ACC are the conditions that are very probably when they should not be using them. Take control of the vehicles steering and speeds and braking distances and you are left with some stuff the engineers designed in like ABS / ESP /TC (ASR) etc.
  16. Picked up my new Scala SE 110 DSG today - I previously had an MK3 Fabia SE L 110 6-speed Manual. The SE seems like a perfect "middle of the road" trim - especially when compared to the Fabia SE L. Things I've lost: ❌ Climate Control ❌ Keyless Start Things I've gained: ✅ Automatic Gearbox ✅ More interior space (both cabin and boot) ✅ Electric windows on all doors ✅ Automatic wipers ✅ LED headlights ✅ Spare wheel Initial experiences: DSG gearbox seems hesitant when moving off - it seems that you have to pre-empt your departure by a couple of seconds to get things moving along. I'll try in S-mode tomorrow... Seats seem very similar to those in the Fabia - perhaps slightly wider? Either way, very comfortable and supportive. Impressive storage space - the driver's cubby is excellent for facemask and pen storage. Android Auto implementation and touchscreen seems far more responsive than the old system in the Fabia. USB-C ports and phone "shelf" are perfectly positioned. I wish that the "jumbo box" arm-rest would stay in position once lifted up (similar to how it works in the Golf) - I may have to make a shim or something to raise it up permanently. The windscreen filler cap that turns into a funnel is an extremely clever bit of design. Perfect! Car seems very well-planted on city roads and motorways. Will try some rural driving tomorrow!
  17. Hi all. My first post. Just ordered a Kamiq 1.0 TSI Evo 110ch in what in France is called Ambition spec. This is SE spec in the UK I believe. Mine will not have electric rear windows due to the global semi conductor shortage. Bit cheap but there you go. I won't often have anyone in the back though. But, Skoda France confirmed to me, in writing, that the same applies to all the higher spec models as well, except for our model called the 'Scoutline' We also have the Style and Monte Carlo and Skoda France say neither of these models will have electric rear windows. Are UK buyers experiencing the same story? I find it hard to believe that the top spec Monte Carlo will have manual rear windows given it's price. Before I left the UK many years ago, my 2002 Mark 1 vRS Octavia had them. Nothing like progress eh? Thanks.
  18. Did you or a passenger take the photo?
  19. ...don't forget the Corsa VXR, some really mindless muppets out there in those. The thing I find fascinating is that all they do is chase huge numbers which makes the car effectively undriveable, so they're not really driving enthusiasts at all, just silly show offs.
  20. Hi, The car has done 78,000 miles and the "service and oil change" literally had appeared on the info panel two days ago so it's up for a service now as it had a service just before i bought the car a year ago. It has a digital service record which i am unsure how to get access too, to have a look what was done. I just borrowed a cheap OBD reader from a neighbour and plugged it in. It shows 1 code found. P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire
  21. I think I see why. You seem to be on the right lines, with the note that the LHF arch liner needs cleaning out from the rear edge bottom.
  22. Auld Ayr, wha'm nae a toon surpasses, Fur honest men and bonnie lasses,...
  23. OMG, why even mention trim levels in relation to a mechanical fault! Who cares if it's wearing lacy knickers or plain Janes! I think my advice may still be relevant then.
  24. Got a little bit more done this weekend, the weather has been crap though so not as much as I'd of liked. Interior back in, I've got water in the front passenger footwell though. Not a suprise to find this mess. I've vacuumed it out but the rain was too much to do a proper job so I've just made sure the drains are unblocked and put it back together without the filter in. I haven't checked the door membrane yet so it could be leaking through there. The central locking doesn't work on that door and I wouldn't be surprised if someone has been in there to look at it and not stuck the membrane back down. I had a mk1 Leon cupra about 10years ago and I remember that leaked and I fixed it with some really sticky stuff that comes in a roll, anyway I guess it's the same deal to fix Octavias too. Edit. One last thing, I'd like some new Mat's, the driver's one is knackered and the nearside rear mat is missing. Can you still get genuine mats or shall I get some aftermarket ones from eBay?
  25. Defo a topic for elsewhere but nobody who's after a performance car would be interested in a Kodiaq. Correct me if I'm wrong, has anyone said that's all they're looking for from their Kodiaq? I'm happy to drive around in my 1.5tsi watching the rat race go about their daily lives. If you want to arrive at the local recycling centre 30 secs quicker than me, then buy a vRS. If you want to arrive 30 secs before the vRS then buy a Civic Type R - and make 4 trips instead of 1. It's all relative.
  26. Sorry to break this to you, but that white stuff on the moon is not snow. I don't think anyone's driven a Skoda to the south pole either (yet) Pointless video No Metallic tint tested unless I missed it. In any case a "metallic" tint is not the same as a heated screen with wires or electrically conductive film thick enough to take many amps. Radar guns operate in the 30Ghz range ACC radar in the 80GHz range, a short 1m range doesnt test for diffraction, most important in ACC which has to maintain a very tightly controlled beam pattern. I'm sure if it was possible to do simply and cheaply it would already be standard on lots of cars.
  27. Herewith an update now also with the new STEG mss1 tweeters setup and the cover panel in the booth 😎 Have also different bigger tweeter mounting caps (a pillars made for those) but now actually liking this look more.
  28. 1 point
yeah they are "Pish Catchers"😉 Mines are perforated leather so it just drains through😆
  29. Unfortunately and disappointingly it will just give up due to that usage. And it will foul plugs and kill coil packs. But replacing those is just a temporary fix which is unlikely to last a lot longer now you're on 85k. It is very surprising you've survived this long but I doubt it was using the same amount at 4k miles or even 14k miles, as it is now. The problem gets worse over time. No pleasure for any of us in saying this.
  30. Always interesting when someone assemblies a mass of data and then brings conclusions out of it. I have liked the idea of a Mustang-e and it is a car that oft seems to be forgotten. Also not so sure about the range figures he has popped in, the ID3 a bit on the high side and the Zoe, for example, at 187 miles average, a bit on the low side for the average between summer and winter. Odd thing as a Renault salemans or perhaps ex-Renault salesman. When is there going to be a Skoda ID3 model launched ? No MGs in his spreadsheet which would have dominated several of the top positions in such a table that encompassed all current EVs. Have VW stopped selling the smaller battery ID3 as they now only list the 58 kWh and bigger and the cheapest ID3 is more expensive that the ID4 ? I am still hearing issues with both heavy energy consumption with the temperature less than 13C and heavy battery degradation in the ID 3 and 4 in the first year of ownership. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/configurator.html Lands End to John O'Groats in 15 and a half hours is pretty impressive for an EV...Qickest time I can find and only 90 minutes charging, think they may having broken lockdown, not too sure what was the law then. https://www.zap-map.com/ev-charging-record-set-for-john-ogroats-to-lands-end-run/ Quickest, sure this can be broken.... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-57777588 Impressively little charge time but took an age.. https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/114755-least-non-driving-time-from-lands-end-to-john-ogroats-in-an-electric-vehicle#:~:text=The shortest charging time from,July to 1 August 2021.
  31. Thats a very good point! I mean we can't expect the current generation of drivers who value this tech to look up from whatever app they have running on the infotainment to see the weather conditions and make allowances for them.
  32. Heating the sensor cover requires electrickery that wont play well with the radar.
  33. They are testing what is presented to them to the minimum requirement. Lots of vehicles in the UK have 2 rear fog lights. Both working is OK as long as matching, but if the nearside one was to have stopped working then no worried if the offside one is. The IVA Inspection in the UK which Imported Cars or Radically Modified will be required to comply with. Stricter than any UK MOT Inspection.
  34. . I'm not sure these are much better than the one on the RGM website in the link above, but here you go. Dirty car, filthy day, wet noggin. .
  35. Im purely questioning their dig at Skoda because they see wind down windows as negative progress. The decision isn’t a cost saving one, it’s a “get them out the door one”. I’d make the same comment if they had one, 1000 or 1000000 posts.
  36. Thank you all. I could see the release path after having a closer look to my photos. It is like J as Xman mentioned. I can now try....
  37. Squeeze the two loops together, like ur using a scissors. While it's squeezed, pull the D3S bulb out, slowly.
  38. @JR RS- Thank you for your guidance throughout this journey. I repeated the steps in OBDELEVEN from start to end again and it is allowing me make all the coding changes listed by you, inclusive of the part that I originally got stuck. Everything is displaying correctly now. It is nice to see how TPMS info is being integrated into the display panel as well as the dashboard, particularly more so on a digital cockpit. Now onto the next project that I am contemplating - OEM 360 Camera on Superb.
  39. It might not be a skoda, but a worthy reflection shot non the less?
  40. What’s “progress” got to do with anything? You know the reason for the change. They literally can’t get the parts.
  41. My VRS is at status 38 now and waiting for a boat. I’m hoping to collect in March all being well. 245ps is plenty for me in a daily driver whilst I’m carting 3 kids around. I’m not sure why you’d need more in that context. I have a VX220 at around 300hp per tonne if I wanted to go quicker (which in England means for 5 seconds before you end up behind the next egg timer).
  42. I was wrong, no counter clockwise movement. From the photo, I think that the clip ends are held (locked) in U shaped cutouts. The inner side of the U being just enough to hold them so more of a J So squeeze together, pull back towards you and though the bottom of the U and the clip ends should then be free to spring open on the long part of the U cutout nearest to you. Hope you get what I mean. Once unlocked you might need to help spread the clip to release the bulb. A clearer photo would be useful.
  43. When you're bored of the R-Tech heat shield, I'll take it off your hands. 😄👍
  44. Make sure its not a used one though.
  45. Hello y'all, i have the same problem as of around christmas last year on an Octavia from 2018. I tried everything i could think of, reset the infotainment, downgrade the Amundsen FW from 480 to 478 (i thought it may be related to the update which i performed in november), tried connecting through different phones (from Android 9 to 12, IOS, setting the mobile data AP from ipv6 to 4 on all) and even directly over my home WLAN, all without avail. I had to have the car 2 times at the dealership for other things and i specifically asked to resolve this problem also (i am paying a yearly fee for what i am not getting...) and they had no clue (told me to delete my connect profile and all that stuff, without results)... i started to think maybe some module in the infotainment system is the problem, but now i see i am not the only one having the same problems, and more interestingly, starting in the same period, all around Europe (Hungary, UK, Denmark, Holland, Germany)... i'll write to Skoda Germany and keep you informed.
  46. For many people it's also because specs may not suit and options kits sometimes combine many elements, all of which may not be wanted... So some people buy a car then tailor it to suit themselves.
  47. Welcome to the forum. Really there are no issues to worry about with a DQ250 DSG. Just be sure to have the box serviced every 40,000 miles or sooner.
  48. I'm back !! Been away from Skoda for a while, but collected this 2.0 Superb Sportline Plus today. Looking forward to using this cracking forum again :-)
