  1. Well finally all the wires are ran, all the NS speakers are fitted, looms modified, dash speaker, subwoofer and everything else fitted. Component protection removed, dataset corrected, all coding done, speakers are working and no fault codes - except the OS speakers still to fit and os loom to modify. All using genuine wire colours, correct sizes, oem parts and all fitted as if it left the factory with Canton. Just got to get a hold of a pair of front canton door cards with the swede material.
  2. just one warning light to get rid of now steering!

Things are really starting to get worse. If you check the news, China is having new lockdowns due to new covid variant, so another rupture of supply chains, production of the neon gas dropped 50% because of the war in Ukraine - we are far from getting things back to normal I’m afraid…
  4. The car named 'Miles' that Alex from CarThrottle had was a 90hp 1.9 TD Octavia, a non-PD based engine. The other option is a 1.9 110hp model. The 100 and 130 Octavias are both PDs and therefore not compatible with veg oil without risking hefty damages. You'll find the 90 and 110 engines in a Mk4 VW Golf, B5 Passat, and some other VAG group cars like Audi A4s etc. The only Fabia that'll take veg oil is the SDI but it needs to have a Bosch fuel pump and not a Lucas pump. Hope this helps.
  5. I am very pleased with my MY21 2.0 TSI DSG 4x4 Sportline. I also had DCC fitted, and prefer the Comfort setting to the normal one. But it does give a 'floating' ride reminiscent of my old Citroens from many years ago. I don't understand why journalists say they can't feel the difference in the settings as they are quite obvious to me; and the added bonus is that it is a dynamic system that is working all the time as you corner. I also went for the Progressive Steering (as it was called then) which varies the steering ratio as you turn the wheel, so it can be quite direct at small steering angles but 'speeds up' as you approach full lock. (I'm not convinced that Routemaster1461 above is talking about the Dynamic Chassis Control system, as he then talks about the Cruise Control!) I've still only driven around 4,500 miles so far thanks to lockdowns aborting our normal French driving holidays, but I'm getting around 35mpg for weekly shopping trips of about 16 miles out and back, while long motorway journeys at 70 give me around 45mpg. (I suspect I may be a more gentle driver than you though if you use your Octavia vRS to the full ) If you're looking at the facelifted Karoq, the engines and aerodynamics have been improved so the fuel economy should be better. But due to chip shortages some of the assist systems I have on my car are not yet available (eg Emergency Assist and Area View). I've had DSG cars now for around 12 years, and have no problems with the wet plate DQ381-7A system. In previous Golfs I've had to drop into Sport mode now and then to overtake or climb steep winding hills, but the power available in the 2.0TSI means I seldom need to do this anymore. And while I've been out in the snow last winter, I haven't really tested the 4x4 drive... but it's reassuring to know it's there if needed, even on summer Bridgestone Dueler tyres. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Chris
  6. Best sunset for a while this evening
  7. Thanks all, I’ve bought and fitted a. new Varta battery today, the battery has now gone down three times and as the dealer kingly agreed to help with the cost (and my proper AGM battery charger couldn’t fully restore the original) it’s on a 2a trickle overnight. I’m hopeful this is the beginning of the end, so to speak..😊
  8. The old banger has had a wash😁

Had a day cleaning and polishing. It's starting to look a bit better now but still a long way to go

Interesting hearing about more and more glitches and learning the fixes.... I can live with all the problems on this otherwise great car, but if I lose the lane assist shortcut on the steering wheel it’s getting traded!
  14. The 145x85 tyre on an 18” rim is the standard Skoda approved spare wheel for the Kodiaq regardless of original wheel/ tyre size.

Likely clue to your rear brake issues.
  16. Fitted them back on to the new one today. Old one was 66 plate diesel 4x4 and the new one is a 68 plate 272 so front springs were different but all in all so much better.. bump stops swap straight over. Kind of. Because off the bigger diameter damper rob tube you have to drill out the centres of the bump stops slightly. Front and back. Everything else just swaps straight over. I did replace top mounts because you might as well. Can use slightly shorter drop links if lowering but not essential

do not believe a word off skoda,in the days gone by you ordered your car and when it was built you got it.now in skodas world it does not apply they do not give a dam about dates.we all read people putting orders for cars and awaiting a year or more for cars.yet some people order .. a car and get them in a matter of months.can i ask anyone on here is this fair?we hear a shortage of micro chips then it has gone to door panels due to the fire.now it has gone to the war with russia and unkraine.are they not looking to blame every but themselves in the complete shambles of a company.where or should i say is the public relations in telling people what in hells name going on>in my case if i get my car on 08/04/22 it will make it 46 weeks ,original date was 24 september 2021.i dont mind waiting as long it applies to everyone.yet in skodas world it does nor apply.it looks like they are immune to any flak or just ignores everyone concerns.goodnight
  18. Hello all! I have a 2012 Volkswagen Scirocco R 6 speed manual finished in Rising Blue that I will be turning into a 'track car' of sorts and will be documenting it on YouTube. The plan is as follows: Open intake, dogbone mount insert, anti lift kit (inc alloy control arms), front and rear anti roll bars, short shifter, side quick shifter, A/C delete, engine mounts, gearbox mount, solid shifter bushings, polybushes all around, discs and pads, brake lines, lowering springs, roll centre correction, lightweight 18 inch wheels, exhaust, body bracing, rear seat delete, lightweight pulley, clutch and solid flywheel, custom remap, bucket seats, LSD. The build is starting next Saturday (12/03/2022) but the build videos won't probably start going on YouTube until some time in April - I'll leave the link to my channel just in case anyone is interested - I'll be reviewing each modification on its own to see what's worth it and what isn't. Link - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_veTnUbAp4rwdl-5a6DoBA I'll leave some pictures of the car in stock form.
  19. I had a clunk noise on the nearside front prob down to the sorry state of the roads , Anyway I took wheel off and got pry bar out nothing really obvious with drop link/ball joints etc ,All I could find was a very small amount of play in the anti roll bar bush so I ordered a set and did em today (both sides) and the clunk is no more 😉 . They didn't look perished or worn to be honest but but you can see the difference on the noisy one ,The flat side is thinner and softer. Only posting this incase it helps others for a cheap fix (£8)
  20. When the 'Classic' selection is made on the digital instrument display, the rev counter and speedometer show their numerals as much less bright than the rest of the display, except for the '10' of the rev counter which is the same brightness as the rest of the displayl. Is this normal? If it isn't, is there a simple way to fix it or will it be back to the agents again for another 'diagnostic' and fix. Any help welcome. My agents won't offer any advice over the phone and want me to 'pop' in, for them to take a look. A round trip of one and a half hours!
  21. Probably 200 miles difference but Tesco have done that to me with receipts. FWIW
  22. Well done. I think the level of movement needed to make an annoying noise is very minimal, and rarely possible to detect until the droplink is disconnected at one end.

There is no Skoda stock, at least not in this price range. Company policy does not allow other brands, so I am going to wait and keep complaining anywhere I can.
  25. You'll find details about the Connect services at ŠKODA CONNECT (skoda-auto.com) It's free for the first year while you get used to using it, then the cost of renewing licences varies during the year as they often have sale offers. (You can buy during a sale period and have the new licence period added to your existing licence, so you don't lose out.) It's a higher car than an Octavia, so will probably not corner or handle as well if you're that way inclined. And it's a long time since I owned an Octavia... and I find the handling and power perfectly satisfactory, but my last cars have been a Golf SV 1.4TSI DSG and a Golf Plus 1.6TDI DSG, with this one probably being the most powerful car I've owned . The fuel economy doesn't match my Golfs, but as my annual mileage has fallen it's not a problem to me. And my insurance went up less than I'd anticipated too, due I think to all its driver assist packages. Sounds like a test drive would help. Chris
  26. Come on guys, I'm still waiting for my car and I knew about this "feature"... 😉 Have a look at this drive test - the "visual effect" you mention here is visible starting at minute 13:40 - dashboard image is shown as inset:

Well whatcha going to do? Continuing to complain and badmouth Skoda and their dealers doesn’t seem to work for anyone. Maybe just accepting it and waiting patiently is the next step. 😂😂
  28. Yay! Sunshine 🌞. No leggings, 'normal' socks, base and top layer short sleeves, no gloves. 👍 Downside... Undergrowth is growing fast
  29. Last Monday in Costco saw a couple pushing out 16 boxes of 20 Litre cooking oil
  30. Just checked the mileage, and guess what, the answer was zero miles! Think I have proved they are lying to me! Thanks for pointing that out. I have asked for the dealer principles contact details and also asking to be told the full name of the said sensors. Still waiting to hear back.
  31. Yep, some people on here denied that fact when I said this weeks ago
  32. Straight diesel - bent owner! Says the man looking up the price of Gasoil Non Routier (Red diesel) last night and finding out it costs more than the diesel he bought on the autoroute which should be significantly more expensive than the supermarke filling stations. I doubt that you will find any 4l jugs of cooking oil on the supermarket shelves and you are going to attract a lot of attention with a trolley loaded with 60 one litre bottles of cooking oil, at least with the red diesel or ClamC oil its on a 24 hour unattended pump.
  33. @rogerdyer At the service did they check or reset the tyre pressures then reset the TPMS. Or have you reset the TPMS. It needs doing. Their issue as they caused it if the car was all fine as you delivered it. How many miles difference from you handing the car in to you collecting it? As in how far did they take it on a road test? ??? 2nd variable service on a 2019 car so has the Haldex been Serviced? 3 years / 30,000 mile interval or sooner.
  34. WHAT! WHO! WHEN! WHY! Why don't salemen lead with this! "Hello would you like to buy a hybrid" "Nah, just tyre kicking" "You will get to meet George Clooney look a likes" "What, free of charge" "Yes, them and their hybriddiddy cars" (see what I did there) "Can I buy one of your hybriddiddy cars please?" "Certainly, 3 copies press hard" (old salesperson joke)
  35. 1.9 sdi fabia, they're a non pd engine.
  36. Started hearing a little whistle from the turbo today, shortly followed by some very big clouds of white smoke behind me...
  37. my old superb II combi had an issue where if I was in the car for any lenght of time, my right leg used to get quite numb and then sore when I was out of the car. this was resolved when i saw a thread here about it, and on the back of that, took a pry bar to the metal upside down u-shaped bar that supported the plastic side to the seat with the position buttons on it and moved it about 12-14 mm away from the seat side. I had the same issue on and off in my superb III combi, but in the last while. i've not been driving it much, so had forgotten about it. for various reasons, I ended up driving it a lot recently, and the sore leg came back with a vengance. it felt like somethign was sticking into the underside of my right leg about halfway down the outside of my thigh, and it was sore after about 45 minutes in the car, and stayed sore for quite some time afterwards too. i reckon something was pressuring something in my leg, so i thought back to the old superb and the remedy, so i finally took a look, and lo and behold, while the seat structure is different, there is a metal "bar" there. it is in under the side of the bolster, and pushes up the side bolster of the seat into your leg, pretty much the same as the older model seat did (this pic is the passenger seat for reference). so I reached for the trusty pry bar, and pried that metal piece out about 10-12mm. it gives a lot more space on the side of the seat for the bolster to moved downward, and also does not press up into that exact part of my leg. I dont feel that pressure anymore on the back of my leg when driving the car, which is wonderful! fwiw, this is pretty much the same distance that was available on the side of the superb II seat when the bar was moved out of the way. hope this is of help to anyone getting the same thing
  38. Glad to hear from the latest owner via this forum that the truck is still alive, I got worried for a while as it was without MOT and tax for a while! I'm sure they may post on here, else I'll be sure to repost via the @europickups Instagram.
  39. I would recommend a new post with a suitable title if the initial 700 - 900 surge is now 700 - 750. What is needed is feedback from someone with an identical car as the lights could be loading the alternator, giving a damping effect, with the unloaded fluctuation being a natural characteristic of this engine. For any doubts on voltage I would suggest my usual response for unknown data collection of using a bluetooth OBD2 adaptor and the Torque app or similar on a phone or tablet to view voltage reported by the ECU,
  40. Wow! Kudos to you for the effort but for me, I'd have to just go and buy a car with the upgrades inbuilt, otherwise were I to try it, I'd end up the sound system moving my seat or nothing working at all!

I was going to put my usual about the car battery but I get a sort of trolling when I do which could detract from the message and OP think the others must be right and I'm wrong. -
  43. Yeah saw your guide it's very good but these days I don't have the time or the inclination to do it myself

It is months since I have been out on my bikes because of the weather and other circumstances. So diabetic bloods given last week, blood pressure checked which I knew was a bit high. I have my artificial leg for cycling sorted out as that was an issue and the bikes are ready to go. Up early ready to go with a plan for the next few weeks of getting into my usual routine of routes and trips as the weather and my fitness improves. So torrential rain this morning and now on hold until tomorrow or maybe it things dry up later. Appointment made for bloods check in a month's time. I do not want any changes in medication other than reducing to what is was on when doing a few thousand miles a year by bike.
  45. Little tip I got concerning the heat shield. If you find the fasteners that held the shield in place have corroded away (and also corroded a hole in the heat shield)...get some plastic (think milk bottle tops or base of a plastic shampoo bottle). Place the plastic onto the studs that hold the heat shield in place, and using a deep socket, hammer the plastic onto the studs. Bingo, heat shield held in place and no more corrosion.
  46. Group ride day.... there.... ... and back
  47. 2 months old, just had a wash. Love this colour. In the sun it's not 'just red' it's really quite deep.
  48. Look here for info:- Thanks. AG Falco
