Good news everyone, neon shortages are starting to hit chip manufacturing, the story never ends it seems. 🙃
  3. Not a chance. That muppet mechanic knew the job wasn't done right so he's blaming the coolant.
  4. Car's had a wash 'n brush up. Ended up going the whole hog and painted the hubs (wheels were firmly stuck!)
  5. No, I mean they think the refurb will be more expensive than to swap in another engine. Maybe they just don't fancy the refurb job. Much easier to swap in another engine, in my opinion. Having just looked at the going rate for BZGs on ebay I'm a bit surprised by how much they go for (~£600+). There must be tons of them in scrapyards by now.
  6. I've been expecting this news, sadly. Was this diagnosed by compression testing? Fitting a new engine is only really economically viable if you can do it yourself, and even then is a gamble unless you know the history of the donor car.
  7. Everything seems to be normal now! I replaced the pre-cat lambda probe, cause its values were so much off. These cars seems to use o2 sensors straight from start and adjust the mixture, even my obd showed "open loop" condition after cold start. Thanks everyone for helping!
  8. Ok, update. The DRL works today No idea what happened yesterday. Perhaps some software thing or whatever.

So the car is on 80k miles its an 11 plate, the current owner has owned it since '17 and the owner before him was the original owner from new. Both owners have been a member of Briskoda but im not sure of the usernames. MOT have passed every year with a couple advisories every so often but have been rectified since. Might be worth mentioning that the current owner is one of the MK1 VRS SE owners and is in beautiful condition.

I got mine in Feb 2022 after ordering in July 21. SEL iV PHEV with LED pack/petrol blue/different wheels. 7 months and that included the week or two at the start and end getting the order in through my workplace and having it delivered to my house at the end. Remember an Internet forum like this, and this thread especially, will attract people who are having problems with delivery times to discuss them. I understand that it’s been very frustrating for those people but it’s less likely you’ll get people saying they had a short delivery time as happy people tend not to say anything!

  12. I have a pod-point untethered from 2017. Cable locking feature is standard on all cars. All chargers will lock the cable when the other end is connected, this is also standard. You can see the way it locks, there are cut-outs on the outside of the Type 2 plug. The locking pins would insert into there to prevent removal. So I suspect damage would be either to the charger casing because that would be the weaker point, or saw off the cable itself, with accompany fireworks if the car is charging

Unless you are fortunate enough to have specified a car that maybe a stock one (struck lucky), otherwise then I would say that they have been buttering you up to get a sale and have been told a lot of lies, because if you take the time to go through this thread, I would say you are being extremely optimistic about what the car industry would describe as a rapid delivery. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's just being truthful.
  15. My brain was not working,,,,,,you are funny!
  16. You asked "What do you get for GB£16?" Alternatively, 6 men's tee-shirts from ASDA.
  17. Last update for now. I've finally got the interior looking presentable. I've mixed and matched a few sets of seats and door cards to get to this stage. I still need to swap over some front seat base foams, but over all its 1000x better then the tip it was when I got it.
  18. To answer your question you repair the leaks - end of! You don't ponce around bodging with powders, liquids or OXO cubes, their place is for get you home breakdown repairs and they will do more harm than good if left in any length of time.

Btw just got an info from other dealer... He says that if the car enters production, and gets the status "unfinished" it has 3 months top to finish it and deliver. They can't have car more than 3months in "production" aka parked somewhere. So this dude claiming that his car is in production after just 3months, and his dealer saying it will be delivered in 3months max is absolutely right 👍
  20. I put a plastic Owl on the roof, this was ok but all the people coming and looking at it were even more effective.
  21. Wait and hope for 'Crasher' to reply, he's in the trade, so will have far more knowledge and experience of the options than I do.
  22. Might not help that scrap prices have went up with car prices overall AFAIK.
  23. Previously had a Octavia 1.9pd. Now rocking with superb 2.0 Tdi (170) I'd say no difference in running costs for me. Economy is slightly worse 45+ mpg from Superb, 50+ mpg octy (mostly dual carrageway). However the comfort, space etc. more than makes up for it. Not seeing any real change for other costs servicing, insurance etc. If the cars were same age etc. I would go Superb. This thing is vast in the boot and rear seat accomodation.
  24. Very dependent on local labour costs, so at least you're in the right half of the country. The fact that the garage suggested replacing engine rather than refurbishing the head is probably a clue though.
  25. You could get a quote for head refurb, but it will be a lot of money I fear.

the engine was replaced @ 42k miles the clutch packs on the mechatronics was replaced @ 28k miles water pump hasnt been replaced but hs never had an issue as of yet
  27. Aye, Pete is right. Your options are getting another BZG, or another car really. If you have the space, then you could break up the old one for parts. Otherwise get rid of it in the best way possible, whichever that may be. Not the best news, but hope it helps.
  28. Just had an update from dealer who says my vehicle is at status 38 released for shipping! Looking good, fingers crossed!

  30. Its hard but i did it didnt take the dash completely off , than fan had sized i kind of opened it and clean it with a air pressure and a bit of lube ,i watched a few youtube videos explaining this.
  31. Yes the Anderson does, but at least for now, we were thinking of doing the Zappi route. We are getting: - approx 6kWp - approx 10 kWh of battery - Eddi Solar diverter - Probably a Zappi as it can just work with the Eddi. The Zappi also seems to be better at doing solar only charging and quicker at fixing issues/working with manufacturers to identify them. Sadly we don't have a garage for the charger, so it will be by the front door/bin store etc As you say the Anderson is very discrete and the Zappi isn't fancy, but could probably be covered up with a suitable "post box" or similar. Yes I noticed many are super flashy, which seems totally pointless and as you say an advertisment to anyone wanting to "borrow" the cable on a permanent basis. When you say cut it and slide it out of the lock, I assume you mean regardless of tethered or untethered, live or off, they'd just use some insulated wirecutters. The socket locks would not really change much as they'll just leave you with a potentially live socket and as little copper as they can leave behind. You mean the SWA? I was debating if this should be from behind, in trunking or something else. If we can't go from behind (Which is TBC), would you suggest a short run of SWA or normal (6mm??) T+E in trunking?
  32. Thank you for all the responses - and sorry for the late replies- this does help in my decision. Thanks again. Jay

@MiniNinjaRob You are posting on this thread and appear happy! Where in the title or the OP is there a clue about this thread being about it being to discuss long delivery times? Is it not about people discussing 'Delivery times' that they are given or when they have received cars? People happy are posting and there are lots of Skoda Owners and prospective owners on this forum. There are lots that are happy on it and there will be many not happy that are not on it. PS Sometimes there are Skoda Employees that come on the forum and do not tell anyone that they are. That happens on the Dealers section occasionally where they say what a great service they get. There used to be a Director Owner of a big Dealership Group that came on with attitude when criticised or posts were negative about their terrible customer service. I never remember him coming on when someone big upped his Organisation. .......................................................................................................... 34. Hmm... could you give us more hints? ...better in what way, which parameters? Afaik -20s regime is well outside the EV's comfort zone. By the way, where do you mostly use you car - that makes you worry so much about very cold weather, even below -20?

I think this car will be Euro 5, as Euro 6 did not become mandatory for diesel cars until September 2015 when the 65 plates came in. So it will not meet the emissions standard of the London ULEZ (Ultra Low Emissions Zone) and similar requirements present and future in other cities. Not necessarily a deal breaker in Norfolk. Also it will be one of the later cars implicated in the dieselgate scandal, i.e. engineered to cheat emissions tests and maybe "fixed" subsequently. Probably not a big deal if it drives OK, and the Skoda Approved Used should offer some peace of mind, but you only need to go 6 months newer to get Euro 6.
  36. I chose untethered because Leaf is Type 1 and newer cars are Type 2. No problem with theft because the charger is out of sight and I use a large pad-lock to lock the removable cable with the armoured feed cable. The cable is always attached, and I use it like a tethered unit. There are other goodies you can get with cables on untethered charger, such as a cable with Tesla's port opening / charge stopping button. When plugged in, the cable is lock-able to the car. Once plugged in, the charger should also lock the cable. So theft during use isn't a problem.
  37. Not really but sometimes while the car is stood still with engine running go from lock to lock a few times and listen to see if you can hear any noise from the bearings ,can be a sign they are getting worn ,just something else to eliminate hopefully.
  38. Yeah it’s not a massive issue I agree If it was me I’d be getting it replaced - if I didn’t break it then it’s for them to put back to how it was 😂

MOT expired 13/03/2022, but the rest of the MOT history looks unremarkable. Ask about what servicing it's had done. Do an HPI check. No heated seats. Has it got a spare wheel? Gaz
  40. If you were not informed formally before the car went in is it not a Service Campaign / Recall Action where Keepers are not getting a letter informing there is a recall. Is your car showing up here as due a Recall Action? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall
  41. Have now got back into it with the weather being more favourable to work in so have started on the crusty chassis rails. Wings removed for extra space and also so i can treat the rust trap where they meet the front of the sill, thankfully it looks worse than it was, still solid so ground back, rust killer, zinc primer and then red oxide followed by stone guard over the top. Wings will be getting the same treatment and then some cavity wax sprayed into the gap once refitted. Will be coating the whole of the inside of the wing with stone guard etc as well.
  42. 2 bottles of decent wine.
  43. Stiffness doesn't equal durability, Chinese rubber is stiff as hell and doesn't last either 😀 but the original mounts atleast provide some noise insulation.
  44. Done Driveshaft arrived yesterday, so got that fitted, gearbox oil filled, lovely traditional fill to spill box in these no set figure like the 5 speeds, Coolant in and run up and took her out for a spin today 15 miles so far all good, I’ll get some miles on her this week then give her a good inspection. Got some back seats going in next week and I need to find a gti washer bottle top as it clips into header tank and original doesn’t fit but no rush. I’ll link in a little YouTube walk round I’ve done hope you all enjoy
  45. Hi @hetty1 have you managed to find a Scala or Fabia Estate to your taste and budget yet? There seems to be a broad range of opinion on the Scala model here which is good and I hope has been useful to you in making your judgement. I personally have a SEL 1.0TSI 115 6G with a few additional options. It was purchased in March 2020 with lockdown 1.0 looming. I had a previous relationship with Dennis Horton in Lincoln so gave them a call to place my order. They actually found the exact spec I was after arriving into port that day as a display model for another dealer. So a few phone calls were made by them and sure enough, it was registered and collected 7 days later. You may be thinking to yourself why is this relevant, well personally I have found that a lot of problems/niggles have arisen in the backlog of production through the pandemic. The Scala went into production May 2019 with first registrations 3 months later. So 69 and 20 plates are not likely to suffer any pandemic problems. I wont talk too much on mine as it is highly modified now and wont be relevant to your situation. However I shall comment on some of the items already mentioned. Amundsen crashing issue - yes had it - sorted with a software patch, not been a problem since. Emergency SOS recall - yes got the letter - got it sorted with dealer - never actually had a fault with it though. Lane Assist - yes dangerous - however as mentioned mine is modified, it is now 45mm lower and hence I had the ADAS (Auto Driving Assistance Systems) re-calibrated at a professional alignment and performance centre in Northampton. I would have had done it by Skoda - but all four of my local skoda dealers/servicing partners didn't have the kit to do it! Since having it re-calibrated it behaves entirely different to how it did from factory. I would say I drive with it on about 50/50 of my journeys. Start/Stop not working. It is a small battery in the Scala, however it is well up to the task. The issue is more that, for all the tech in modern cars they are not overly 'smart' if there is a draw on the battery that is not there from stock, ie you have a dashcam wired in, then the system will disable the auto start/stop in order to preserve the battery levels, as the biggest drain on the battery is starting the car. The system doesn't know if its a dashcam or full industrial generator plugged in, all it knows is there is an unidentified draw on the battery so it does what it's programmed to do. I have fully upgraded the audio in mine with around 800w RMS now being pumped through the system. Start/Stop has been permanently disabled ever since, however at my 2 year service recently the battery levels were checked and all was fine, which shows this little battery and the alternator is more than up to the task. Now owned for 2 years, 17k miles, as mentioned just had second year service, all is great.
  46. Got another battery tray as the gti one doesn’t fit due to the gearbox mount being different and the size of the stop start battery I.e being bigger meant it didn’t fit my original one. So that’s all on now Also a powerflex dogbone insert arrived as the gti dogbone mount is a different design to old one, lucky there cheap enough. so just waiting for my driveshaft to turn up now, was told 1-3 days last Friday so hopefully any time now, then gearbox oil in and take her for a spin
