Guys I cannot believe it. My car is in Slovenia and I can get it next week. So 15 months waiting time all in all. I honestly thought this day would never come.......
  2. put a new alternator (the belt tensioner is a pig ) and all good no dash lights (ars light off ) all codes are gone apart from one climate control module but its running with no problems for the first time in about 3 years other have tried and give up or did not now how to but with your help we won thankyou for all the help DSM
  3. Just curious why you’d want new when theres plenty out there in decent condition? Not forgetting the price difference. just so happens I stripped my Fabia last year and have that side for sale.
  4. A couple from last night.
  5. Colourful sky this evening. Really glad I polished the car as it makes all the difference to the reflection😃
  6. Unfortunately you're being treated as a cash machine and you should go elsewhere.

The 1.0tsi engine is a good economical unit to start with, the Fabia is relatively light and the only downside is that its aerodynamics are ok but not great so higher speeds have a noticeable adverse effect on consumption. With only three small cylinders for lower friction, and direct fuel injection which reduces pumping losses of a throttle based engine at small openings. You can see this for yourself if you have the 'instant' consumption display showing during stationary idle (stop/start turned off) and it will only be showing 0.5L/hour consumption, maybe even less, which is very good. 'Pulse and glide' is actually repeatedly accelerating up to a given speed and then coasting to a lower speed and then reaccelerating/coasting. Extreme US hypermilers even have a kill switch on the engine during the coasting phase. Really not recommended practice on public roads with other traffic around. You can replicate this to a certain extent with the dsg auto in eco mode if it has the coast mode ( the engine ticks over) although you are far better off just following @KenONeill's recommendations. Some time back I had a loan Fabia 1.0tsi manual for a week and was very impressed by its economical operation despite the fact we were experiencing 40+ C temperatures so the air conditioner was working flat out all the time. Out of curiosity on a dead flat empty road I switched off the aircon and held 60kph in top gear on a minimal throttle and the instant display averaged 3.1L.100. It was too hot to muck about like that though and the aircon was turned on again. Still impressive though.
  8. Some photos of my Tow Trust bar: Nothing to see unless you get really low down: Plug socket dropped down: Swan neck in:

I told you that MySkoda accepting the VIN means good news 👍 so waiting for some nice pics next week 😉
  10. agreed 100% and no replacing the motors is easy, although you do have to remove the headlamps to do it. I would love to know "how" they know they are receiving power...........did they disconnect the headlamp plugs, check and route the loom to see, then test with a multimeter to see if there is power there........all on a MOT test OR did they diagnose it on your authority ? On the flip side, You don't even need / require working headlamp levelling, if they are not working the headlamps can be adjusted to meet requirements, takes 2 mins, job done. If the garage is incapable of doing this task for a small fee, then they should not even be MOT'ing vehicles. Part number for the motors is 5j0941295 Even from a dealer, would be approx £40 ish with vat each, maybe less. Where in the UK are you located ? If your local to me (derbyshire) I would happily assist in fitting new motors (if actually required) etc for nout, I cannot stand garages that try rip people off !!!
  11. The Kodiaq is a heavy car, it weighs 1.6 tonnes, (nearer 1.7t with a driver in it, or 2.3t fully loaded). Do you really think 2 cylinder mode (effectively a 750cc engine) is going to be happy carrying that. The brochure has kerb weight with driver as 1666-1752kg depending on options A Seat Leon estate 1.5 tsi DSG weighs (per brochure with driver) 1424kg So for the Kodiaq effectively got the equivalent of 9-12 25kg bags of sand or cement as deadweight being carried around all the time. If you were worried about fuel consumption why did you choose such a lardbutt vehicle
  12. I've just met the new owner of the vRS, an enthusiast who is loving the car and has already added a new backbox with large tailpipes! Glad to see it has gone to a good home, and remains local so I should still see it occasionally. He's not a car forum person but I pointed him to this thread to get the story of my car ownership.
  13. I have Thruxton booked for 04/07/22
  14. Fairly strict, but thats to avoid people taking the mick out of all of us. You’ve got a very long way to go before I feel that Cut me a cheque out of your first 6 figure year
  15. I would just like to add my comments and recommendation to Pete’s window motor repair service offer. I am a new member on this Forum and was surprised and delighted by the incredibly fast response I received. From the moment I made contact with Pete he was absolutely superb with the information provided, his support and communication. Once he confirmed my defective motor would seem to be one he may be able to repair, I sent him the motor on the Monday before the Jubilee weekend. I was aware he would be unable to look at it before the Jubilee Friday but even considering that, I had my repaired and fully working motor back to my door on the following Monday! A truly incredible service. At the same time it has been so much more economical to utilise this option and also to save a perfectly repairable motor being discarded, not to mention the considerably higher cost of purchasing a new, or even secondhand, replacement. Should any other member find themselves needing a solution to an electric window motor repair problem, I cannot recommend Pete’s service highly enough. He did me an excellent deal all round and he will be my first point of contact in the event I ever have any similar problems. Many thanks for your support Pete. 👍 An all round first class gent.
  16. Finished the TT/LCR/S3 quick rack and suspension conversion earlier today along with poly bushes, new steering arms, ball joints etc... My god what a game changer! I can only confirm what's already been said about this mod, but it's night and day! To be fair the front suspension on mine was pretty worn so a refresh was well overdue anyway but the result is so worth the effort. I also replaced the power steering pump as mine had developed a leak behind the pulley and I deliberated on sticking with the 95 bar VRS or go for the 105 bar TT pump. I stuck with the VRS one, and again I have to agree with what others have said and the steering although a little heavier it suits the car well and feels superb through the steering wheel. The old girl also got treated to EBC yellow stuff pads all round, new discs on the rear, ATE Type 200 brake fluid, HEL braided brake lines, and gearbox fluid change. I got carried away with the oily stuff, and this is the only photo I took I'm afraid!
  17. It will be "worn" and it will be BS. My chauffeur friend generally did his own maintenance but had the servicing done by the selling dealer during the warranty, on collecting the vehicle the invoice said "front & rear brake pads 75% worn" he asked to speak to the service manager and complained that it could not be true as he had recently replaced them himself, "ah but how many miles have you driven since?" was the response, he scratched his head & said well I did them last night & it took me 20 minutes to walk home after dropping the car off this morning so it would be between one and two miles 😳
  18. Hey all, I've been lurking for awhile and thought I'd introduce myself. I've had a few VAG cars over the years amongst others, it's been a varied lot! -Renault 5 1.4, was a bit of a shed! -Megane 1.6 coupe, was written off quickly -VW Bora PD 115. Bought as a high mileage hero (148k), replaced interior with leather sports heated seats, lowered, BBS CH alloys, turbo and remap with PD130 bits. Sold at 176k! -Not mine but my brothers Scirocco Storm. Massive project car that ended up being sold as a running project and is probably in a mid Devon barn rusting away. -BMW 320cd, immaculate, lowered on B4s and Eibach Pro Kit. Written off when I was run off the road by a Land Rover. -BMW 330cd, Imola Red (best colour) but was a needy car. Remapped, straight through exhaust, bigger intercooler, custom pipework. Over 300bhp and 450ft LB (limited) it was a rocketship.
  19. Extremely easy.
  20. Are they suggesting an A/C service or A/C cleanse? If I remember correctly at my first service on a 2019 car I was offered an A/C cleanse (I think this is an antibacterial smoke bomb in the cabin, I stand to be corrected) cost £60, I turned it down. I have just had a service at the end of the 3 year warranty that did not include an A/C service. The service history was then checked before I, and they, signed up for an extended 2 year warranty. I confess I am not sure how often an A/C service is required/necessary.
  21. sorry George, not been on for a while. just over 12500 miles so far in 11 months. The car counts down the days to service. The system is very much the same as Tesla do - thought they call it maintenance so they can boast their cars "never need to be serviced". Unfortunately many tesla owners take that at face value and think their cars simply never need to be checked over. 😉
  22. Who would you recommend, I've used Henry's Glasgow North in the past, they seemed fine. Was hoping to maybe purchase a service plan with them.

Welcome 😊 btw your english is 👍
  24. Was this the item you found on the transmission tunnel ? If it was it's the airbag ECU
  25. The OEM manufacturer is Visteon, well thats the name on the inside of the cluster, but I doubt you will be able to source one from them.
  26. I managed to fix the one I had something got trapped between the seat and the catch. I open the catch with a screw driver then removed the lever switch nothing wrong with that and refitted. It's good as new thanks for the help it was just trapped in the end.
  27. They assured me it has been serviced but good question, it's a big dealer up here in Scotland so I assumed they know about VAG servicing, but definitely worth asking thanks! It only has 3700miles on the clock and is £19,995 so seems like a ok deal to me 👍 Cheers

Nice. I could send a photo of my roofbox and roof bars on the drive as that’s all I’ve got. I’m going on holiday in August but still no Car 11 months now. I’ve got 2 weeks then I need to make decisions on what to do.
  29. The rear sensors are very accurate when reversing anyway, I’ve never come close to hitting anything with them. My fathers XC60 has a built in camera, nice to have but by no means essential.
  30. A chip in the key has nothing to do with the Service History. The VIN / Registration number is what is needed. They just need to have the VW Licensed Equipment as many VW Independent Specialist do. They get TPI's / Service Campaign info, some can do updates and even warranty work. Skoda UK Customer Services can send you the Service Record, Service Campaign or Warranty history. Even if someone on the phone says they can not. Only what is on the system though. Your car, your responsibility to keep safe and serviced. Data Protection is to protect you, not someone that is at a desk someplace on a keyboard.
  31. I have found a VAG specialist who says they can access the VAG network for service history. I've not used them yet, so I'll see how it goes.
  32. I think that’s the toggle switch for the interior lights. On, Off or On when door opens. I’m away from the car at the mo so can’t check…
  33. We have similar tyre wear on our 19 plate Karoq with 12k miles. However, it's a known issue where I live which has one of the highest concentrations of roundabouts per sq km in the UK. Outside edge of the left front normally has the most wear. That said I'm going to get the tracking checked & / or switch the fronts to the back to make them last a bit longer. I also have a Superb, the rear tyres on which went down to the canvas on the inside edges whilst the outside edges were showing 3mm of tread. Rear tracking was way out of wack from the factory. Hunter alignment sorted it out. It's worth getting the alignment checked. Even new cars are not perfect.
  34. Also here - https://www.skoda-parts.com/catalog/fabia/spare-parts-579.html - this is where I got mine, but they're in Czech Republic so I bought two of each (bound to break again, and they're dead cheap) and a few other bits and pieces, to justify shipping charges. Great service, though.
  35. Which side do you need?
  36. The robins expressed a clear preference for the meal worms over the bird seed!
  37. Had Both:- 1854 cc single cam single carb. Triumph Dolomite HL Mustard yellow. Can't remember the Reg. Sprint was 1998 cc had single cam but 16 valves and twin carbs. WMY671S Blue with black vinyl roof. Thanks, AG Falco

  39. Part numbers for replacements for the hatchback are; 6Q0 885 644 47H Drawbar for Folding Out the Right Backseat 6Q0 885 643 47H Drawbar for Folding Out the Left Backseat Only a few quid each
  40. @Carlston As for 17" Octavia Spider Alloys on a Fabia you missed last weeks thread where you could have posted about a hard ride. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504701-wheels
  41. I believe this is a typical problem in Columbus, having it repaired should be less max. 50 GBP.

So I thought I would let you all know what I have found after fitting the PS5s this week. So I had 4 different tyres which wasn't a great start, but I have tried a few different premium tyres on my other cars so first impressions are it drives smoother, mpg went up very slightly or at least didnt dip below 28 too much and that was mixed driving. Grip, well it's very reassuring on the corners and grip on full acceleration is much better, so overall I would recommend these tyres easily.
  43. Less than a day after reading this post I spilt 1/2 a pint of milk on front passenger seat , with my hand forced I bit the bullet and used my carpet cleaner on it with a weak mix of shampoo . So far so good no sign of an adverse effect on the fabric.
  44. @lway you hit the point - too busy to review just like that, I react only when I'm tagged. All check your PMs.
  45. Have you tried tagging Pab in your request ? He's a busy guy and i'm sure he doesn't spend every day logged into this thread. Try tagging him as i've done above so he gets notification that there's a question for him.
  46. Sure they will, they will just take slighty longer. That said most of us would fit new pads with new discs.
  47. Herewith an update now also with the new STEG mss1 tweeters setup and the cover panel in the booth 😎 Have also different bigger tweeter mounting caps (a pillars made for those) but now actually liking this look more.
  48. Quick update. Need to do some minor adjustments and allignment but almost ready with the top panel for carbon 👌🏻
