I think you're getting confused with the larger engined Octavia's - the EA211 (1.0, 1.4 & 1.5 TSI) have no reputation for water pump problems and Skoda UK earlier this year aligned their guidance on cambelt replacement to be in line with the rest of the VAG 'empire' so the 5 year guideline is history as it was never sensible.

That's the most important thing, second is that the wheel itself has a large enough interior diameter to clear the brake calipers front and rear.

I’ve had two 1.4tsi estates, a 2014 and a 2015. Absolutely awesome engine, both of mine had over 100,000 miles on when I sold them, still original turbos and clutch. Both were very reliable, I serviced them every 10,000 miles in my opinion these engines will easily do 200k miles. Whilst I don’t see the timing belt and water pumps as being any kind of issue, both of mine needed new water pumps around 80,000 miles, they both started dripping coolant so I just noticed the level dropping slightly. The water pump assembly cost about £250 from Skoda and I fitted them myself, they are driven off the gearbox end of the exhaust cam by their own little toothed belt. I would add that I now have a 1.5tsi act Superb and find that to be a great engine too. All the best in your search.

Hello, i fixed rear drain by myself. The problem was in the yellow drain pipe from fabric assembly. I had two turn on passenger side. First turn ok, the second was twisted !!! I shorted the tube to one turn.

I think you've just confirmed that your car has a parasitic drain problem, which Skoda need to solve under warranty.

The space saver wheel is an 18 inch one and the tyre profile it's fitted with makes it compatible with the 16 inch wheels fitted to your car. Space savers don't need to exactly match the diameter of the wheels fitted by law but they should be close. I've been looking into this and have just ordered the spare wheel kit and wheel from my local dealer for £256 which includes everything you need. You can find the exact details of the recommended spare on the inside of the fuel flap where the tyre pressures are. Be warned, there are loads of secondhand 16 inch space saver wheels/kits out there quite cheaply but the profile of the tyres fitted will mean that they could be several inches smaller than the 16 inch full sized ones fitted to the car. They MAY get you out of trouble but the MAY also foul the brake calipers or cause other issues if the car thinks there are significant differences in wheel rotation once fitted. Personally I found that by the time I'd managed to find the correct 18 inch spare wheel/tyre, bought the screw to fix it in, as well as the tools and foam surround, I was better off just buying the correct thing from Skoda and have done.

We none of us have had vehicles with so much extraneous complicated emissions control and electronic equipment. A faster warm up is desirable for emissions, fuel economy and driver & passenger comfort but the benefits of these systems are quite marginal over a standard wax capsule thermostat. The sliding sleeve water pump was a good idea but an Achilles Heel, they have replaced it with something even more complicated and flaky.

I have been doing a little upgrade shopping from Kopacek (the site formerly known as Superskoda). Not much that needs upgrading on a Superb III to be honest, but a few bits I’ve been able to improve, and one purchase that turned out to be unusable: - Lid funnel for the washer bottle (have done this upgrade on both the Fabia IIs in the family and my old Spaceback - it’s such a good idea it’s a no-brainer). - Mega LED lights for the boot - these are a complete sealed body replacement for the boot lights (left and right sides of the boot) with much more powerful LEDs. Makes a massive difference. I did the same update in my Spaceback, which also suffered from a boot light with poor light output. - Black plastic boot lip protector. Sticks onto the top of the rear bumper and takes the hit if you catch the bumper putting anything in or out of the boot - Tablet Smart Holder - so now anyone sat in the back can mount their tablet using the Smart Holder attached to the rear armrest - Superb branded chrome keyfob tips (did both keys) The one mistake Inmade was ordering enhanced reflector/puddle lights for the front doors, only to discover the ones on my car are just reflectors and there’s no wiring there. Oh well, never mind. To do: - Uprated LED puddle lights for the underside of the front mirrors (now more important given the door reflectors can’t be upgraded) - Genuine Skoda roof bars More pics to follow.

I've been sniffing ( as usual ) around F-Type's but as my Superb has just hit 50k and will be 10 !!! in October I decided to have a look at the Superb config page .... I know it's subjective but I don't think there is anything about the car I Like 😞 I hate the interior with that stoopid big screen ( yeah I know they are pretty common now ) The wheel selection is just awful It's now only 265hp ( and I bet there are no exhaust valves !!! ) And THE PRICE !!! Similar spec to my SEL comes out at ...... £50,718 !! I know that's probably not far off if you take into account inflation etc etc but still ... Never thought I would say it but even if I decided I wanted to buy a new car for the next 10 years it would not be a Superb I just don't like it .... So ... I'm going to give mine a little TLC .... Have a decent machine polish etc and hang onto it.... Similar spec to my SEL comes out at ...... £

If you have dsg as well, I wouldn't even think about doing what you are planning without 4 post carlift or a scissor lift...I have my own scissor lift in home garage, so for me it is easy. Remember the dsg gearbox with transferbox weighs in about 100-125kg if not more. Not a pleasent one to handle on the floor with jackstands... Taking it dow is ok, but assemble it back in...its a pITA lying on the floor trying to maneuvre it with a garagejack...keep that in mind if you have dsg. Manual i lighter and one can disassemble the transfer box from the gearbox to save weight. Makes it easier. I have a gearbix jack that makes life much better, but it is still a bit struggle to get it on due to the weight.

Because on mine with 221 000km it is going to fail sooner or later. It is a very common fail on skodas. Since mine is a 4x4 DSG you have to take down the gearbox to access the egr cooler. The part itself is maybe 100 GBP, but the labor....puh, 6-7 hours. So, I replace it just to be sure when the gearbox is down for other reasons 😀

You should be able to feel the difference in throttle response on a manual. The pedal travel for torque demand differs in each mode. For example and not actual reality. Eco 30% pedal travel requests 10% torque Normal 30% pedal travel requests 30% torque Sport 30% Pedal travel requests 50% torque Difference in how the engine produces torque / power is minimal in each mode but you can make it feel much more responsive. Some small cars do this, especially some smaller Italian N/A models. 25% pedal travel would give you 80% torque demand so driving normally they'd feel really strong but put your foot down and there'd be hardly anything extra.

If you are putting the gearbox in Sport on the lever then only the DSG change points will get adjusted. Using the Mode Select button in sport mode will change the DSG change points, throttle response and steering weight.

The thing is i take what is available when i arrive and am not there long, if TESLA came in needing a charge and no charger available i would move. Even though i have had years of barstewards hogging chargers or bays in a Tesla, locked in and not charging on other charger types, they could have just charged slower on an AC and that there are usually a few of. But many do the same in any type of car. Jaguar drivers i find to be the worst for this. The most desperate times i have had twice at chargers not working and no alternative were sorted by Tesla drivers stopping charging sooner than planned to let me get a charge. We should always remember a pay back...

When I had to "give" it to my ex (as part of the divorce settlement) it had done approx 45,000 miles with no unplanned maintenance (just annual servicing) and only 1 warranty job when the front inner left parking sensor failed. It never failed to get us from A-to-B without drama. It was a 6 speed manual estate and averaged around 45mpg mainly rural and motorway driving, which was far better than my previous Audi RS4 (4.2V8, 420PS, 6 speed manual). According to the online MOT check it's now done just under 72,000 miles and the only MOT failure has been when a new owner hasn't checked the tyre condition. I enjoyed driving it so much that's why at the first opportunity I traded my Toyota Aygo for another Octavia, I would have liked another estate but this 1.8 L&K hatchback tempted me too much!

As you’ve had the pads and disc replaced have you checked the area since? Most likely moved something and just needs pushing back or so. I had my brakes replaced once and got abs error, I’m sure they just nudged the brake dust shield back and it was okay, was my old a6 many years ago

I lost DAB reception in my Karoq following installation of front & rear Road Angel dashcams. Interestingly the same cameras had no impact on DAB reception in either a Suzuki S-Cross or FIAT 500. I tried ferrite cores in the Karoq to no avail. My Auto electrician is of the opinion it's the WiFi network generated by the Road Angel Dashcam which interferes with DAB reception. Sadly there is no option to disable this.

A VCDS scan will show logged details of all commanded alarm activations and what sensors triggered them including volt drop. It does however sound like these could be self activations from a failing internal battery leaking acids onto the circuit board, yes I know the garage claimed to have replaced the siren unit but being unable to silence the alarm is not normal function.

I'm just replying to try get notifications on this post. Bought my 1.4tsi ( 140ps, CHPA EA211 ) Mk3 Octavia just yesterday and I made a post for things to look out for in case you want to check the replies I got. They seem to be reliable from what I've researched. Main thing is the cambelt and waterpump replacement I believe. The engine is super smooth and quiet, really nice driving experience in my opinion. Hoping this engine will last me a long time!

Agreed, that's what I'd said in my original post too. To be honest I didn't want to find out there was a clearance issue or that I needed to find a different profile tyre to fit to a secondhand one at the side if the road, so I just ended up ordering the correct kit from my Skoda dealer.

It looks like it is just legal robbery and the government are more than happy to allow this happen, it needs to be regulated.

Interesting, my 2021 1.0 TSI Technology has 16 inch wheels and yet the spare space saver wheel is listed by Skoda as an 18 inch in the catalogue, confirmed by the label on the inside of the fuel filler flap. The circumference calculates out as the same as the normal wheels as the profile is different on the space saver 🤷‍♀️

My 2020 Octavia Mk4 SEL FE has 17" alloys as standard but last September (2023) I managed to get a space saver 16" steel wheel and tyre plus the toolset from my dealer, i.e. everything you need. The parts were... 5E0601011J - 16" wheel 5E0093860E - Sp. Wheel Set Total price was £190.00.

& it was a Trailer-less one. They would not be trialling Auto Pilot would they?

Hi, I would remove uninstall the dog guard and fold the rear seat backrest to get more room and try to pass a nylon strap thru the black grill (as close as possible to the C pilar. Then install something higher than the grill to use it as a lever (rod / bar). once lever is fixed, route the strap above this lever and pull it downwards so that it pulls the grill upside. Because I don't think you'll get enough room, if you try to push it upwards from the inside. Unless boot side panels are different parts form these grills... I hope I'm clear enough...

I replaced all 4 ignition coils with new original ones, the fuel consumption decreased significantly, and so far the check engine light has not come back on.

On a 1.4TSI the DSG will be a dry clutch 7 speed DQ200, problem reports on that combination are rare. I have the DQ200 with the 1.8TSI currently on over 65,000 miles with no problems (touch wood!).

That list of errors showing up has all the hallmarks of a ABS sensor failing or mis-reading the a wheel signal...........

Simple answer, you can't. The electrons go where they want to not where any money tells them to! Any organisation that says they use only electricity from renewable sources is lying if they get their electricity from a connection to the National Grid. What they should claim is that they pay only for electricity from renewable sources to be placed onto the National Grid - but that's NOT the same as using only electricity from renewable sources!

This sometimes happens on my 2016 Superb when I'm loading or unloading and when my size 10 feet go too far under the car and the keys are in my pocket. If I want to avoid this happening, I put the keys down far enough away from the car so that my feet won't activate the virtually pedal. I know some have deactivated the beep, but I wouldn't want to be without it as I want to get out of the way if the boot lid starts coming down when I'm reaching inside. On a couple of occasions, I've been standing near the rear of the car when the cat has walked underneath and she's activated the virtual pedal!

1 - Turn off cruise control and it will take its place at the bottom of the screen 2 - go into the cluster - trip - overview. Then press the right mouse wheel to cycle through since refuel, journey and forever.

Just a quick update. When I first poste this issue i tried searching for a screen protector for my Virtual Cockpit screen, but no luck. Yesterday I rechecked and found 2 places doing them. Innovative Paint Protection Solutions had what I needed. Just waiting for it to arrive now! Also found Grizz Protector but no shipping to me. Will update on installation.

That's exactly what I did. Got a 2022 Mk3 FL from across the border in Germany and it has the 2.0 TDI, which AFAIK is not available in France. Luckily, it only cost about 1k in eco tax compared to nearly 8k for the equivalent petrol version. Only owned it for 8 months, but so far I had no problems. I also didn't really like look of the new line of Octavias and Superbs, so it worked out well in the end.
