  1. Out and about today, picking up a new floor. Snapped Floors Castle on the camera phone as I was passing.
  2. This afternoon's sunset..........
  3. I think this is spot on. I did a lot of looking into the subject of the fake engine eon the facelift model, as I was close to placing an order. Skoda UK confirmed that the facelift model does still have electronic engine noise, and it is clearly listed in the UK brochure as standard equipment. Recent review from EVO magazine says "To improve sound further, it even now comes with a sports exhaust system as standard, with synthetic speaker sound now less prominent” So I'd say Ultearunner is right, the soundaktor has gone, but the electronic engine sound is still present.
  4. No, that would be an oil smell, not a petrol smell. I really think this injector rail problem is likely to be what is happening here. There are many reports of it, as you'll see if you skim through the linked thread. A number of other threads also cover the same problem.
  5. Never use a pressure bleeder on a concentric slave cylinder that is for sure. The cylinder is self bleeding, any air will rise to the bleed block AKA peak torque limiter, there is a void (think of an airspace in a flooded cavern) just underneath the thumbscrew bleed nipple, you open that and any air is expelled in a couple of seconds by the hydrostatic pressure from the reservoir. You are correct that there is no way to actually flush the fluid out of the slave cylinder. It won't unless you are a gorilla or a robotic actuator arm, the bleed nipple is a knurled plastic thumbscrew threaded into a plastic housing.
  6. So after an initial failed attempt 6 months ago, thinking the mk7 Golf GTi resonator delete pipe will fit on the mk3 Superb (FWD), which it doesn't cause wrong length and bend angles - I ended up getting the version designed for the mk3 Octavia RS. It's the RPM Performance Anti-drone (Helmholtz) Resonator Delete Pipe, which I had fitted on Gandalf earlier this week. There is a nice subtle increase in exhaust note, no drama. My biggest relief is that there is absolutely no drone, at any speeds. No farts or crackles, but I wasn't expecting that. Fitment wasn't 100%. The factory downpipe end was easy, with the slip on clamp. However the rear end had to be welded on as the catback pipe end was the same thickness as the resonator delete pipe - hence couldn't use the slip on clamp. Overall happy with the Anti-drone Resonator Delete Pipe. Comparison..... The delete pipe... Fitted... Factory resonator removed.. Video of the resonator delete pipe fitted...
  7. That burning was after it came loose and touched the mounting area I think. So not the resistor's fault.

  9. Hello guys and girls I was after some information regarding removing the swirl flaps on my 2012 estate 2.0 TDI 170bhp. What do I do about the flap actuator? Will it cause a fault code if I remove it? If so how do I get around it? I'm also looking at blanking off the egr. Does that also cause a fault code? Again how do I get around it?
  10. On a mk2 Fabia, I would be checking for broken wires in the rubber boot that contains wiring going into the driver's door.
  11. The latest version is 0332, but I haven't found it yet.
  12. absolute legend mate the relay has done it, what a cold week it’s been 😂 appreciate the time and effort pal
  13. Mine charger starrs with 3,5amps, and ends with 1,2amps.
  14. I think its "1s0959263a" like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185582596318 may be cheaper elsewhere. This may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOpxgh0Z5TE
  15. The new pack what you linked worked like a charm. It was updated in about an hour. Map version updated. Lets see if it got any better in hungary :). Thank you for your support.
  16. @J.R. The DPF cleaning posts related to my other old Yeti with the hateful CAYC TDI, I gambled on 5 litres of off-car DPF cleaning fluid being cheaper than an off car full clean, this car has never been used for short journeys and I want to stop the problem before it gets that bad. Unfortunately for this thread I sold that car earlier this year, but I can report that after a few treatments the differential pressure figures came down noticeably.
  17. You may need a newer version of the MIB3 firmware The current version is 0330, you can update it yourself Search it on Google
  18. UPDATE: When the mechanic replaced the oil filter support, they forgot to plug back a broken fuel junction that THEY broke in the process i just checked the engine bay and found that they taped the tubes togheter, when i called them they told me they taped them because they didnt have enough time to order the new junction! 🤦🏻 Note to future self: never EVER bring my yeti to an official skoda service.
  19. What do you mean ? I ment alixxxxxx cable that I bought and connect beetwen s/s button and oryginal car cable socket, this cable press s/s off button after turn ignition on automaticly.
  20. Check at the front of the engine, on the side opposite the battery - see if there is any fuel dripping near there. Been there, done that! although in my case, the engine would fire - then immediately shut down.
  21. Yes filler cap. Loosening the cap, particularly when hot, releases the normal pressure build up in the coolant system - which can cause the coolant to rise, giving a misleading level.
  22. Modern cars don't smell of petrol. If they do, then there is a leak. I would not drive the car in that condition.
  23. Well mine has made it through Emden as in it's way to the UK..so not long now
  24. Link to the site is here Air Pollution in World: Real-time Air Quality Index Visual Map The measurements used include the following, there may be more, but these are the core ones. PM2.5, PM10, O3, NO2, SO2 and CO and if you select any monitoring station and hover the mouse over it, you will be presented with a pop box listing these and the results of each of these on an hourly basis, showing date and time, and the bottom of the box it will show you over a few minutes, the results for the last 12 months on a daily basis.
  25. I've only been doing it a few days so I'll monitor going forward - presume the EV cap is the filler cap? Can that cause probs?
  26. Have a read here, and consider not driving the car until confirmed or dismissed as the cause: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/468348-fuel-leak/
  27. Not me, they are the reason that I stopped renting to students at the Airbus factory who but for their total dependence on and love for their 70km/h unrestricted trottinettes were the best tenants that I had ever had. I had made covered and secure bike parking for them in the past but only one youth in the last decade was willing to and capable of riding the 2km into town, I made covered secure storage for their trottinettes with charging points plus EV charging points but they would all smuggle them into the building, up the stairs and into their appartements doing untold damage in the process. My concern above all was for the safety of all the occupants if a fire broke out, they didn't get it neither did their parents who paid the rent and who had indulged the children (the Lycée pro age was 16 -22) with dangerous, unsafe illegal E-scooters costing more than my car that they rode at 70kmh on the footpath/cycle path dressed in black hoodies pulled up restricting their vision using both hands on a mobile phone with speakers in their ears.
  28. Unfortunately this is a common issue with the MK2 that affects some but not all. Apparently the fix is a software update but no timescale has been given - Other than removing a couple of fuses for half an hour to reset the system, it’s a case of waiting for the software from Skoda.
  29. One issue with that is if the electronic service history is important to you - your BSG is unlikely to have access to upload service history updates.
  30. A tip if you are attempting to verify age of battery - there is usually a date stamp on the top of the negative terminal, format is WW,YY.
  31. My MY22 does the same as yours. i.e. the doors don't open if I just do the boot button
  32. First hit on google https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/269/
  33. 1 point
TDI's can be oil burners....just make sure that you carry around 1L of 5W/30 around with you at all times and check the oil weekly. Can be either piston ring related or head gasket related. Up to you on whether you fix it or live with it.
  34. In all honesty its hard to really say, but it does look like fresh transmission fluid. If that's the case, then the first and the second guy has mislead you. It needs to be properly fixed. If it has been properly fixed, some brake fluid sprayed on to get off all the old leaking residue would have lifted off the leaking fluid. My concern is that the pressure needed for the mechatronic system to operated properly will be reducing and ultimately you will loose transmission if you continue to loose DSG gearbox oil.
  35. I did say that I found the temperature surprising but that's what it will have been. Read my previous comments regarding building glazing and magnifying glasses. I will rely on common sense and my knowledge of materials science rather than swallow your version of "The real truth" As your parts are now irreparably damaged why dont you heat some samples of them in an oven to find out "the real truth"? Where do you get your claim that VAG saved $22 per vehicle? A cheaper supplier does not mean that they used cheaper plastics to manufacture the part, the melting point of a specified thermosplastic, (and VAG will have specified exactly what plastic it should be,) does not vary with the price paid for said plastic. I think you are just having a public tantrum and saying "this should not happen" and I agree with you, but the fault is not with VAG, their vehicles can be left for a week at a time unshaded in the Sahara desert, the fault is with the architects.
  36. Could be they changed the way how the sound is generated? And they replaced the soundaktor with the sound coming from the speakers?
  37. Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to the front camera for assistance systems and after a few days also a low 12V battery warning popped up. I gave the car back to the dealer for checkup - same story - need to wait for a software update, no one knows when it will happen. One week after the checkup I got the same errors again.. I manually re-connected fuse 22 and everything "started to work again". The Electrician at Škoda dealer also told me to regularly charge the 12V battery (I usually do short trips so kind'a makes sense..) so I listened to him and charged it a few times... and.. magic.. I haven't encountered this issue again. Of course this is complete nonsense "solution" from Škoda, but at least I can enjoy my car.. as besides these problems - I still love it!
  38. Last night's sunset................
  39. Simply. Go to first post of this tread and download the update that you need.
  40. No rubber timing belts on Citigo engines, but we know what was meant Given the disaster of the "cam-belt in oil" designs in various other engines, it has made people rightly wary (Citigo has a dry belt). Post-facelift cars have lots of improvements, not least a better gearbox and wheel-arch liners on later models - I get it may be out of budget, but I'd go for these even with a higher mileage. Higher mileage is meaningless compared with usage pattern - 40k miles of mostly motorway cruising may lead to a much better car than one with 20k short-distance, stop-start driving. Hard to tell how a car has been used though. You have judge these things on a test drive - varying roads (fast/slow, bendy), some full throttle and max revs runs (these engines are surprisingly sweet if in good nick).... As for electronics, very little new stuff on the latest of the Citigos compared with early ones - the "useless junk" was mostly fitted to later Up! GTI models.
  41. Rubber timing belts being changed at 5yrs/50k-miles was a VWŠkoda UK con (we lost £429 on that) last year they fell in line with Europe 15yrs/180k(?)-miles - all those of us conned ought to band together and have our money returned.
  42. My wife bought a low mileage Citigo (auto) during covid. She loves it. All the above on condition comments apply - we had the timing belt replaced at the then time interval ( car only 12000 miles). Main caveat on brakes applies to all VAG group systems - disks show rust and the drum brakes need properly cleaned regularly or the handbrake will tend to stick on. The other minor space comment is only 4 seatbelts which I suspect some folks go for Fabia. Find a good independent for servicing and you’ll be fine
  43. There are differences from Fabia to Citigo other than just size but that doesn't matter as you look at if the car is suitable to you, it's condition is the main thing. 50,000 in 12 years is an average of 4k-miles per year which is low and tyres and discs mentioned on MoTs possibly bear out the low mileage and periods of lack of use and/or regular low mileage use which can be worse than higher mileage use, hence possibly the change of clutch. You need to drive it and then another Citigo of the same age and approximate mileage to compare. Citigo can be quite basic but it depends what model spec it is and what you are used to and expect. Buy on condition, seeing a complete list of "service" each and every year could be more reassuring given its low mileage, don't expect to pay extra for the low mileage. A 12 year old car may be better than the later models and possibly less hassle. I have zero idea if the price is good or not but don't be too swayed by the low mileage, buy on condition.
  44. Expect What Car / Autocar to have it as Car of the Year 2024 then even if they have only driven Left Hand Drive models in a good weather location while being wined and dined.
  45. & when it is a Cambelt Engine for others that look at the thread, the Advice, Guidelines, Recommendations on those changed 12 months ago in the UK.
  46. No, this is still current.
