  1. Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy a 2019 moon white skoda octavia vrs 245 with Canton sound system After purchasing the Skoda Used Approved Octavia Vrs car myself from a main dealer in the South East, I found the car to be damaged and it also had rust/paint problems. Damage was the front end of the N/S front sill next to the jacking point Rust under bonnet + After 7 months of stress dealing with the main dealer and Skoda U.K executive office, I finally returned the car for a full refund last week. As I am still waiting for other agreed monies from the dealer, I cannot give any further details of the car at this time. I have never experienced such appalling customer service in my lifetime and just hope others don't have to experience the same thing.
  2. Don't get me wrong, but you should familiarize yourself with the tools and the topic beforehand. Certain functions require a certain level of user expertise. You can also lock the control unit if you do something stupid. The 5F now detects manipulation because the data set is no longer plausible for the hardware or software. This can only be fixed with a data set that the device considers OK. If you still have a warranty on the vehicle and the dealer finds out about this, the warranty for the radio is now void.
  3. Sadly the world is full of robbing bar stewards. What was the mileage? If a little north of 19K, it’s possibly on sale again
  4. Skoda don't publish release notes so there's no official way of knowing what new features and bug fixes are included in any release.
  5. The very one. Passing the subsidised charging from Porsche, or paid really by Porsche buyers. Lease a business vehicle, tax benefits, reclaim VAT etc. Using as a works vehicle & mumping about Insurance, Maintenance, cost of tyres, charging, etc etc. Real World for a Youtuber, not for many Porsche Taycan driving Business Users or even private drivers. It is the real world that matters, and not the expensive cars, or the big battery ones, the ones out their in the majority, the ones that should be electric, town and city use, charging at public chargers. Plenty of those are parked up though and fleet cars, and councils etc. Using the chargers and parked for many hours and meaning The General Public are denied their use.
  6. Many of the YouTubers have reporting similar events across the whole of the UK for some considerable time, as I have posted about before but so many piled scorn on the reports claiming there were no issues with the charging infrastructure at any time and with proper planning etc etc blah blah. Perhaps those people will believe it now you have reported it as well?
  7. Hello Briskodas, My name is Ruud and I live in the Netherlands. In November 2025, we bought a Skoda Kamiq 1.5 TSI ACT Sport Business. It's our first Skoda, as we previously had a Hyundai i30 automatic.
  8. Hi, we have owned our Rapid Spaceback for 4 years and loved it, one of the best things is the panoramic roof which seems incongruous given the poverty spec of the rest of the car. My wife has been using the car this week without incident and this morning we noticed the panoramic roof appears to have spontaneously cracked to the front above the nearside door. I have examined this as best as I can and can see no obvious signs of strike/impact damage. Has anyone else experienced this? The damage will only be covered on our insurance under the accidental damage section which aside from paying a £300 excess will likely impact our insurance going forwards. However, I cannot imagine this is a cheap replacement otherwise. We are not attached to the car but cannot imagine a dealer will take it as a trade in. I will take it to an auto glass centre next week, any help in the meantime would be appreciated. Photo attached.
  9. As far as im aware a damaged outer sill would be Cat N registered if it went through insurance ? I guess it will either not be repaired and passed on as it is again or repaired without being registered. Looked at a Audi A3 Quattro the other day at a main dealer and it looked like they had stuck a second hand drivers door on it. Or it had had a terrible repair. Showed up as hpi clear. Just dont know how these dealers get away with it. Truly shocking 😡
  10. Just looked, could very much be but not showing the reg. If it is, its up for nearly £400 more than I paid in February this year. For sure, wouldn't want anyone else to get stitched up and have the same grief. Yeah, still waiting for other monies agreed on top of a full refund but seems like im going to have to chase that too. Unbelievable. Thanks very much 👍🏻
  11. Thanks Evolution, I have read all of those. Looks like I will be visiting Autoglass etc.

Sorry, thanks for letting me know, I thought I'd checked the link, obviously not, and I've missed edit, so the quote just above has been linked - or use this. -https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/vws-vaq-diff-explained/30560 ETA: I've check (twice) both links work (at those moments, on my machine, checked after deleting 'History' on my browser, twice).
  13. It does seem it is on sale again with a well known website (if it is the same one). Hopefully anyone seeing your post on this forum will avoid this particular car and any grief that comes with it. Appreciate you cannot say too much until you have had the outcome you are after from the dealer. Good luck.

    Linky no worky
  15. Happy to have helped! Not driven one with DCC, but this is my 3rd VRS and I've never felt it was lacking in comfort or handling (and we are in Shropshire, lots of fast, rural twisty roads and the car is perfectly capable). I missed Canton on the last car, so it was the only option I went for - it's a massive improvement all round.
  16. Admittedly this is rather off topic. The boring stats are as follows: Mitsubishi Space Runner 172K miles (from new) 1995 to 2004 - cost 5p per mile maintenance Mazda Premacy 160K (ex demo 6 months old) 2004 to 2013 7 p per mile maintenance VW Touran 108K from new 2013 -2024 9 p per mile maintenance Skoda Karoq from 1100 miles (used 6 months old) 2024 - current 2p per mile maintenance. Fiat Punto 30K miles from 9,000 miles (Used 1 yr ) 1998 - 2016 11p per mile maintenance Skoda Fabia 20K miles from 900 miles (used 1 yr old) 2016 - current 23p per mile maintenance Interestingly it is the low mileage cars that have the higher cost per mile, the 3 high mileage vehicles cost per mile when allowing for inflation is probably very similar.
  17. Hello, if you have a Wi-Fi connection in the Setup tab and a recent SW with Android Auto, what version of SW and HW do you have?
  18. Buy OEM Software Code when you have the correct Radio
  19. In Amundsen, I know how to access the engineer menu and check the function codes in service mode, as they are enabled in the packages purchased with the car, but in retrofit they are difficult to install even when purchasing a dongle (AAW2+ or Carlinkit) because the FECs are not enabled and even with the cable the Smartlink does not work. In MY20, they were enabled in all versions in the Style with Amundsen, and it was also wireless, in the Ambition with Bolero, but only via cable with the appropriate coding. 20. More pics in the sun as requested. We've had a good number of VAG group metallic over the years, this is the most interesting for sure - it looks pretty dark most of the time, even in the direct sun, but when it hits an angle it can really change. Tried to capture it in the pics.....
  21. I put in an AliExpress reversing camera, but not made any cosmetic additions
  22. Thanks that makes it easier 👍
  23. MacMaster? But he is not a what I call a proper automotive channel, more of an entertainment channel, Carnage and Geoff Buys cars are more of an automotive channel than he is.
  24. Earlier in this thread Evolution13 referred to "Brake Assist". This feature is not mentioned in Fabia Mk4 Owner's Manuals, but Fabia Mk3 Manuals explain it as follows: I assume a Fabia Mk 4 has HBA, but I don't think this feature would have any negative effect on a bought-new 2024 car's braking characteristics when it is being driven 'normally' and slowly. (If I 'stab' my bought-new 2024 Mk 4's brake pedal while manoeuvring slowly, my car will stop dead and stand on its nose, but I'd expect that to happen.) People don't all drive in the same way and there's no doubt that a Fabia Mk 4's brakes need a gentle touch when the car is moving slowly (particularly when it is lightly loaded). So it might be worth you (diplomatically!) asking your mum to demonstrate to you the problem she is having with her Fabia's brakes and to test-drive the car yourself.
  25. You have a different remberance of events to me. I think it was happening in a lot of cases because they either could not find a suitable charger, or there were chargers but also had a queue for the more powerful ones because they were not as common then as they might be now, or as in the case of Car Wow tests and many other general automotive channels, that in many cases they were still being installed at various motorway services where they take all their cars along the same route inorder to give them a proper test in as near as possible identical conditions (regardless of whether they are ICE, PHEV, Hybrid or BEV) for comparison testing, (hills, road surfaces, speeds, distance, and time of day etc). By doing so they can get a good measure of how the various cars handle the conditions and how they rate for overall comfort and economy etc. Harry's Garage and Number 27 do just that as they get a feel for how each car drives and feels on the same stretch of road, to get a fair test of each car.
  26. We will see. Castleview Park & Ride Stirling. Millions spent, there are canopies with Solar panels and there is battery storage and over 60 AC charger points and only 4 DC 50 kW and they are giving out a max of 30 kW for weeks now, even when AC chargers near empty. A Max charging time 40 Minutes then £1 a minute on the DC. There is 1 Electric Bus charger sitting in an awkward place and never used. If you park on a pavement next to the bus stance you could use to charge your car. For this the DC is 65 pence a kWh and the AC 50 pence.
  27. I'd the answer to have battery cabinets clise buy ? They are getting so much cheaper and will do increasingly with LFP and soon sodium batteries. One significant problem here is the theft and vandalism of cables and with battery packs next to the chargers they would be a target too. More design and hardening required for these valuable assets. Yes the batteries would cost a bit but the batteries next to the charger coukd charge up in cheap overnight lecky and be mire profitable for operator as well as improving their margin.
  28. @DSL i have books with refuellings and odometer readings going back to 1977, before that I had a little plastic “thingy” about 3” by 1” with two disks on the top edge and 3 dials on the bottom. The fuel volume was recorded on the top dials and the last 3 digits of the odometer on the lower dials. I have maintained spreadsheets recording maintenance and repair costs since around 1999. As you say the totals can be scary. I will look later to check.

the funny thing is, that all VAG Cars, and Skoda in particular, that where delivered between January to March, suffering from this problem. in some of them the update has fixed the issue, in some of them the SOS module needs to be replaced..
  30. OEM Order Number: 6VA054830 For Kamiq: Kamiq (NW4) up to week 4/24 (pre-facelift) Kamiq (NW4) from week 5/24 (only vehicles without PR number NI7, NI8)

Any receiver that fails due to a jamming signal hasn't been properly designed, but like @TomerB2025 I think it's a manufacturing fault not a design fault.
  33. The shark fin is the GPS antenna. Configured for a completely different frequency.
  34. You are correct. The web also suggests the J757 relay that could be dying.
  35. Yup, Superskoda changed their name to Kopacek a number of years ago now. Have a look at my Build Thread for some ideas. I too have a Business Grey Liftback/hatch. This how Gandalf looks like now.
  36. Does anyone have the manual for the Mk2 Superb? I can't download it from Cardiagn

All these marketing acronyms hack me off, like when Aldi whoops, Audi claimed thousands of patents on the cars, bent screws, washers and bits of plastic I expect. I couldn't be arsed to arsed to read it but in case you want to, enjoy. VW's VAQ 'diff' explained
