  1. They probably didn't it but never told you (or you didn't hear correctly) A bit. But you don't run with air in it. Probably fine for 10 yrs...the poor soul who inherited your car may have cursed you as the corrosion started to dominate their brake system It's not closed. Still absorbs moisture at the master cylinder... As you said, we never changed it in the past but that was to the detriment of our cars a bit. Not a heap, but Id change it at least every 5 yrs. Doubt it will actually ever boil due to moisture but the corrosion would be a thing for me
  2. It can be tested for water content
  3. Maybe don't over think it and just use G12 Evo? G13 is getting harder to get hold off and Evo is the newer product.... You can trust me on this bro.
  4. That was going to be my next step. If West End Skoda were going to be difficult then I'll head on over there.
  5. The Service Desk person or the Service Manager needs to go speak with the Master Tech or ask them to come talk to you. Maybe go out driving with you. No point the desk jockeys with no Mechanical Engineering training spouting whatever.

This catalogue tends to be quite handy: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/en/catalogs They also sell genuine bits, but delivery can be slow.
  7. G12 evo. It superseded G13
  8. Welcome. that would be TSI or TDI. & if a DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG then the DSG service of an oil and filter is @ 40,000 miles. (7 speed wet is a DQ381 with a 80,000 mile service but best do sooner from 2017 on.)
  9. Really there should be 0 consumption. In practice many cars leak a small amount. I have never topped mine up (1.4TSI) in 2 yrs. You probably have a small leak. Id locate that if you want to stop the thing using coolant. It may be evident by some pink crusty stuff around a hose or even the coolant cap
  10. I don't know if it's consistent across all regions, but mine is an EFB+, not AGM. I use a CTEK CT5 stop/start charger, but it has auto detection of battery type and is suitable for all lead acid type batteries including Wet, Gel, and optimized for EFB & AGM. Maybe the setting isn't too critical? Is there no indication of type on the battery itself?
  11. Hiya We are on our 5th Skoda but this time we went electric and bought an Enyaq Coupe 85 Edition. I'll have more questions than I ever did with the Octavia's! Loving it though. Cheers Simon
  12. The Kodiaq has the GSM antenna in the same location too - red arrow in pic below. so Superb should b similar too.
  13. Thanks man. Yeah the silica bag was also in the cupra 280s so I know of that issue. I’ll make sure the belt and pumps have been done on any looking at depending on age/miles. I’ll have to keep looking for a decent example that fits my needs. Thanks for all the help.
  14. ET40. Cast into the rear of one of the spokes.
  15. Hi All, My much loved Fiat 500 Lounge (2010) named "Lizzy" has just failed the MOT and is being scrapped. So, looking around I found a 2013 Citigo Sport with under 20000 miles! Hopefully, and from what I've read it'll last a while! Looking forward to getting tips and tricks for her (the wife has given her the name "Cleo" 9=(Not the Renault version).
  16. Hello 👋 and welcome to Briskoda @TorCheney
  17. Hi Evolution. No, my independent garage flagged at the MOT that they needed done, i asked if it would be a fail and he said no but that they dont have much left in them. Im knocking up 600 miles a week or so and its been a few months so i wanted to get out ahead of it and have the parts instead of paying the ( understandable) mark up that any garage applies. My garage is happy for me to supply parts for all services and just charge me labour which is decent of them.
  18. Nothing new about Manufacturers recommendations about Brake Fluid Changes. As for VW / Skoda it was First @ 2 years then each 2 up to about 2011, then changed to first @ 3 years then each 2. Then about 3 years ago they changed it back to firsat at 2 years then each 2. Really something of a little earner for Main Dealerships. But it is their recommendation, guidelines, schedule, advice.......
  19. As i understand it G13 is designed to work in conjunction with the silica bag in the older coolant tanks (for corrosion protection) G12 Evo will afford the same protection without the need for the silica bag So using G13 without silica bag = less corrosion protection. VW thinking might be its better to top up with a compatible coolant than use water alone or nothing.
  20. Hopefully Autohaus can sort you out if West End can't. I went to autohaus for wheel alignment on an Audi S2 about 10 years ago, I noted many framed certificates for whatever accolades in their reception area.....however my car left with the steering wheel off centre. My experience wasn't a good one .
  21. Very busy so best get booked in. This is what happens when you have people with a good reputation which is well earned and have lots of return customers.
  22. I dont have vcds but when I did mine 1.9tdibxe I had to loosen top pulley/camshaft bolts and adjust slightly to align locking pins after turning engine over by hand once belt was fitted. When I fitted the belt they all ligned up but after a complete rotation were just slightly out. Didnt have to move it much but I believe its fairly critical. Alasdair
  23. hello i drive a skoda fabia htp 2008
  24. Reading through this I come to the conclusion that many people buy cars and have absolutely no idea what they bought. Fine, but then why complain? 1st - learn what tech you have in your car and how it works 2nd - decide what suits your needs 3rd - disable what you don't like/need 4th - if you can't disable something, then is mandatory, so you should not be allowed to disable it, so you should not even try or complain about it, rather vote to put in power people that share the same vision as yours, someone with whom you can align 5th - if you bought something without being considerate enough to learn about it first, and then you realize it's not what you want, then is completely your fault, Especially when the thing you bought is 40-60 k GBP/EUR, so once again you should not even complain about it, rather grow up and learn from your mistake
  25. Hi, I originally joined back in 2008, when I was looking at getting a vRS.......I never did. I've got a Skoda Enyaq x85 Sportline company car at the moment, but just bought an Octy 3 vRS yesterday, as I'm changing jobs and need a motor to commute in. I wanted an Audi A4 but settled on an Octy as they look better, cheaper to buy and I just prefer them Looking forward to contributing to the forum, as I know how valuable they are 👍
  26. Are you talking from experience, or from some other part of your body? Dacia is built on reliable technology from Renault, technology they are phasing out from their Renault cars to replace with new one. Yes, plastics are cheap, but actually very resistent and the limited number of computers and quirks make it more reliable from this point of view. None of the things you mentioned are an issue. There are issues with insulation, consumption, lack of power, quality of materials, but you get what you paid for. They are reliable cars, comfy enough and suitable equipped.
  27. If you mix g13 and g12 evo, whilst not harmful at all, the coolant will turn a dirty brown.... don't ask how i know this.... and i only added 200ml. Thought i had g13, so added that but i now know that after previous work, it have been swapped for g12 evo.
  28. 340x30mm front brake discs weigh about 10.8kg, which is about 25% more than the 312x25mm front brake discs and about 50% more than the 288x25mm front brake discs.
  29. Had a go at macro shooting this evening with mixed results. Not really my bag being the impatient sort. Tried before with some flowers, it was a total disaster. Dept of field is the trickiest bit along with focus stacking. A lot of faffing about for one shot tbh.
  30. W.E. Skoda......... E'burgh ? Regards brakes.. Maybe you've answered your own question ?!! Putting software aside maybe a more old school approach is required?........like checking air filter and replacing fuel filter ?.....could exhaust have a blockage ?
  31. And now it's fixed. Took it to ADAS Calibration Services https://share.google/BY72y2GnDxnuKK9vn in Bury St Edmunds who managed to get the radar cover off, clear all the spider web etc and then used an Autel to recalibrate and reset. Very happy 😁
  32. From memory it's just a time-based issue - leave it long enough and it will let you enter a new number...
  33. I'd respectfully suggest that many of the electronic systems in a Dacia, that are largely proven technology from Renault et al (as Skoda used to be with VAG) are far less prone to glitches and far more reliable than those in the VAG stable at present...
  34. But some people like a minimalist specification and don't want their vehicle to be all singing and dancing with lots of functionality they will never use... Added to that a minimalist specification seems to make them more reliable.
  35. All done! New Mechatronic unit fitted, normal service resumed (smoother gear changes) and MIL reset.
  36. I missed this post last month, are you still looking for help? I would expect the suffix letter to matter, it may be the only difference in the part numbers of several different-sized TBs for different engines. Looking at partslink24, a 2013 Roomster CBZA engine appears to require part number 03F 133 062 with no suffix. This is not showing as having been superseded by any other part number. I would not expect any versions with a suffix to be identical. I think these are generally quite reliable, so I would consider using a secondhand genuine part.
  37. I refer to my original posting re heated mirrors. I'm pleased to report I've solved the issue. I normaly drive in Eco mode, so I tried to apply a bit of Czech logic. Eco is about saving, so why not battery saving. The mirror heaters don't work when in Eco mode - they do work perfectly in all other modes - Doh !!!
  38. “AI Overview +5 A rear passenger detection tone is a safety alert sound from a vehicle's rear occupant alert or rear seat reminder system. The tone, often a chime, is triggered after the engine is turned off and a rear door has been opened and closed, prompting the driver to check the back seat for children or pets. The tone is a component of the overall alert, which can also include on-screen messages and honking.” This is not meant to disable the no seat belt chime, that’s not allowed. You can test this by stopping the engine and opening the driver or one of the back doors with someone sitting in the back, maybe the car will “say” something.
  39. It's a feature not a bug. If people are in the back they must wear a seatbelt - it's the law. If you want the warning to stop, tell the rear seat passengers to belt up. The answer remains the same.
  40. It does exactly what it says on the tin; it sounds a tone when someone sits in the back seat with the engine running and doesn't put their seat belt on.
  41. It will only be annoying if you carry law breakers who don't belt up, if they refuse to wear seat belt, make them walk instead.
  42. You make a very good point. Perhaps that is why this option is sold along with rear screens for those unruly brats. :-)
  43. I think it's careless drivers and passengers of other cars that need door protectors, especially those yummy mummies with unruly brats pushing their doors open at full force without any care for the car parked next to them. This is why I always get comestic repair insurance with every new car.
  44. with the ignition on, adjust he seat to how you want it. Press and release the set button and then press the 1,2 or 3 button. You should then hear the bong. If you feel the need to make fine adjustments while you’re driving, just adjust, press the buttons as before. You need to get a feel for the buttons before you set off mind. AFAIK you don’t need the Skoda app to do this
  45. Perhaps a controversial opinion, but I think people now have far too much faith in their cars. They’ve never experienced a proper accident or felt the car lose control. Certainly, if they had, they wouldn’t drive the way they do on motorways. The amount of times I’ve seen someone in a crossover tearing down the outside lane at 80 when I’ve only got a few car lengths visibility due to the rain, is insane. There should be something like a mandatory skid pan experience after you’ve passed your test.
  46. Yes. You drive according to the capabilities of your vehicle and the conditions. One factor is braking performance, but that is only one of many.
  47. That usually is the case, but mine are like this all the time at low speed braking.
  48. I'm on my fifth Kodiaq and, yes, they do grumble a little when they've been left standing a while in the rain but they soon clear. Oh, and your car is a mk 1 not a mk 2.
  49. Have you tried "not switching it on"?
