  1. If you have Neutral in gear i don't think is needed.
  2. I just checked out of curiosity and they're back on aliexpress. Priced from about 40-60 squid but the real thing. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-1K0951605C.html
  3. Octys by & large tend to just keep going. There are known weaknesses but as long as you pay attention to maintenance they're pretty reliable. As regards your copilot's predilection for 'third party objects', mine has been driving for 40+ years and seems unable to avoid such interactions - typically once every 6 months on average. All cosmetic, none serious but still a PITA for insurance and for me (as I have to fix the 'adjustments'). Anyone have a Mazda 2 front wing going spare?
  4. Thinking back to it - it probably helped that I gave the coolant flush extra time to work as the engine was at around 80 rather than 90 degrees, so I waited for the engine to get to temp then started the timer using the recommended time on the bottle.
  5. I had the same one before the update and now everything working fine. I mean I hope it working because I did it yesterday and till now no issues 😂
  6. Here's the little vid showing how to get these apart without damage. Dead easy when you know how, but miss out the little 'push' at your peril: 6Q1...F disassembly.mp4
  7. Well, we did it - everything appears to be working well, we even found have a metal circlip under the rocker cover (and no missing circlips!). Interestingly, we 'may' have turned the crankshaft in both directions, but nothing seems amiss.....
  8. I can look before scrapping and you can have it for postage.

Since you read it, you will already know that that decision has not yet been made - or at least not made public.

No it's an engine in job thankfully as it's effectively a plastic cover with a rubber seal in it behind the crank pulley. I'll see if I can get feedback on it as I'm not going to be doing, despite doing all my servicing I'm not comfortable doing the timing belt and it won't be until around the summer, I simply can't afford dropping around €1000. It would be interesting to see as it's currently at 320,000km (200,000 miles) and I am pretty sure it's never been done as the independent dealer i bought it off did the first timing belt change when I bought it at 140,000km. All videos I've seen have been done around the 100-150,000 mile mark. What I can say is the engine is running surprisingly smooth and responsive for the mileage so it certainly doesn't sound like the typical behaviour of a Ford or PSA car.
  11. Don’t think it’s speed-dependant. @JR RS has done it. Check out his project thread. Not sure if it was just Superb specific but I’ll bet my wisdom tooth they mostly if not all switch between. It was a thing to switch to a Kodiaq one too I think
  12. Verify which way engine rotates when cranked on starter.
  13. I wouldn't worry about a big of sludge in a dead-end like this on an engine of this age. Fix the leak and keep fresh oil in it going forward. May be worth checking all breather hoses for blockages, as poor crankcase ventilation tends to increase the likelihood of oil leaks.
  14. My brother has the same attitude but usually the end is bad because he destroys the item that he pushes to fit. 😆 I asked you about aftermarket seats because sometimes an elastic strap or a S hook blocks the rail.
  15. Popped into Wemyss Bay Railway Station on the way back from Arran. The architecture is quite stunning. One of the concourse below. Another shot of the walkway to the Bute ferry. The shot is pretty much as is other a bit of processing to black and white. It looked a bit empty so I enhanced it using AI.🤣 Before AI and after, below
  16. Have a read here on how to adjust the beam height. I posted a pic there showing which nut to turn.

The only Skoda approved 17" tyre size for the Karoq FWD (Front Wheel Drive) NOT 4x4 is 215/55R17. 205/55R17 isn't a Skoda approved tyre size for the Karoq. Also note that 205/55R17 has a smaller outside diameter than 215/55R17. Skoda cars that use the 205/55R17 tyre size include the Kamiq and Octavia MK4. Outside diameter of tyres 205/55R17 657.3mm (1.6% smaller outside diameter compared to 215/55R17) 215/55R17 668.3mm

I only found out about it on Instagram, I'm planning on replacing it when I do my timing belt as the crankshaft seal is leaking so it's a while you're there job
  19. If it’s easy enough to do, I would use swap the entire assembly over - it’s all the same part.
  20. Thanks Gaz, To be fair, it wasn't obvious. However, I'm not too proud to admit that sometimes I give a brick a good run for its money in the IQ department! Zaph 😆
  21. Does the gearstick actually move or is it solid. If it moves check the cables that go to gear selector on Gbox are still attached etc. Alasdair
  22. The best habit about smoking is to never start! When I was proposed my 1st cirgaret at around 11 yeras old, I immediatly tought to my dad's big hands with his thick fingers 😱 and I just said: No, thanks! I thank him so much! 😘😁 Good job @CubbyQ!
  23. Good news - Skoda warranty actually works. The repairs were authorised and approved. Skoda Customer Services have also been really helpful too. Car ready to collect next week.

Turn you steering wheel from lock to lock, drive back and forward and brake.🙂
  25. Packaging - not made for humans. ROFL. Easy mistake to make.
  26. Thanks. Turns out that there was a sticker (to do with kid safety) on the underside of the new battery (a Duracell 2025 dated March 2035) Incidentally, the 2025 and 2032 codes refer to the diameter (20mm) and thickness (2.5 and 3.2mm respectively). Also CR indicates a Lithium battery, SR indicates a Silver Oxide which contain heavy metals and LR indicates an Alkaline battery. so a CR2032 is a lithium battery, 20mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick. Specifically C means a primary lithium battery (i.e. a non-rechargeable battery), R means round, S means silver primary and L alkaline primary. Coding also works for Lithium Polymer batteries such as the common 18650 (means 18mm diameter and 65.0mm long) Now works fine. Feel stupid not noticing the sticker earlier. Zaph
  27. Got rid of the last persistent bit of lingering cigarette smell, when looking over my shoulder. It was lingering around the plastic headrest post holes, and I’ve never changed the position of the headrest…I moved it up to discover both metal posts covered in cigarette smoke residue! Just done a 100 mile trip and no more smell!
  28. Hi all, just recently purchased an OBDeleven Pro and made a few tweaks to my Karoq so thought I'd share the working tweaks done via coding (as opposed the the built-in "apps"). There's a lot of information on various forums but it's often not quite right for the Karoq or needs some translation. Disable ‘Ignition On’ Alarm This disables the ignition on alarm which is activated when the drivers door is opened. Control unit 17 (Dashboard) Adaptation Search "Ignition" Select “Ignition Active Message, Actuator” Set to "No Display" Show Refuel Quantity in Dashboard (Volume to be Replenished) Show the number of litres / gallons needed to fill the tank in the MFD / maxidot Control unit 17 (Dashboard) Security access > enter code 25327 Long coding Scroll down to "Volume to be replenished" Set to "Yes" Note: the units are controlled in the car settings (separate from consumption units) Enable Summertime Automatic Option in Time / Date Menu Enables the option to update daylight savings time automatically in the car menu Control unit 5F (Information Control Unit 1) Adaptation Search "Summertime-automatic" Set to "Europe" Disable the ACC Function to Avoid Undertaking Stops ACC slowing the car down if a vehicle in the right hand lane (UK) is moving more slowly. Obviously I'm just testing this one as nobody undertakes! Translated from clubskodakaroq.es and bear in mind the language is written for right-hand drive cars. "The adaptive cruise control (ACC) has a function to prevent overtaking on the right (RUV). If to the left of the vehicle there is another vehicle that runs at a slower speed, it is represented on the multifunction screen. To avoid "overtaking on the right," the system brakes the vehicle itself gently. The RUV function is active from a speed of 80km / h and the driver can interrupt his intervention at any time." Control unit 13 (Adaptive Cruise Control) Security access > enter code 20103 Go to Long coding Search for "Overtaking_right_prevention " By default it is set to enabled . Change to disabled . Restart the infotainment (hold power for 20 sec) - not entirely sure this is necessary More to follow. Working on a guide to enable lane assist and high beam assist for cars with the A5 camera.
  29. Hello all. I wanted to update the topic. I updated this strange software to version 1760 > 1790 >1798 and 1800. No errors appeared during these updates. AA just worked flawlessly on version 1800.
