Well oil pipelines require gas and pumping stations to move the oil along, up hill and dales and through valleys. Water flows nicely down hill by pipeline. Also where there is flooding and then too much water. Pumping stations yet again requires energy, in some areas wind and solar provide that energy. What a pity that Countries and Nations will spend more on war than the worlds essentials for peoples daily needs. Then obviously wiping out the desalination plants and pipelines is part of what is happening in some middle east countries. (De-desalination??)

China is still the worlds biggest polluter. But are still getting on quick with becoming greener and generate approx 32% of the worlds electricity from renewable sources. Donald Trump has just announced a $700 million investment in coal by using 'Wartime Powers' The plan is to revive the USA,s coal industry. This is from News overnight about the US & coal.

Seems to like a regen....probably, it was some kind of interruption during this process

Pipelines could be ran just the same as oil pipelines are. desalination is possible anywhere. Countries could trade water for Solar power. But it would need Governments not Private profiteers

A couple of jobs done today. Replaced the drivers door inner seal as the original one had worn from driver getting in and out. The second hand one I got from eBay had a little wear but hadn’t split so I just rotated it about 45 degrees so the wear was on the back edge where it won’t wear any more. Pretty simple fit, you just have to take a couple of trim pieces off. As I had already had some of the trim off and it was finally a sunny afternoon I thought I would tackle installing the black roof rails. Thanks to @Kosin for the install tips. Pretty much remove anything attached to headliner around the edges, all pillar trims and top boot trims. To remove the sun visors and handles you need the OEM/Laser long nose flat pliers at £60 to £30. Luckily Ali express to the rescue again with a cheap tool that does the job perfectly for £3 https://a.aliexpress.com/_EHRShvy To access the rear of the front pair of bolts you have to disconnect the plug from the curtain airbag igniter. Not too much bother with the battery disconnected and an appropriate wait time to make sure everything is powered down. Apart from when I had fully reinstalled the liner and trims and got an airbag error warning and realised I had forgotten to reconnect the passenger side! Doh! So that half all got disassembled again to reconnect it. Now all done everything back in its place and all fault codes cleared with no issue. All in about 3hrs work. It would have been 2.5 without my airbag mistake! So that’s the last of the dechrome jobs done and now full Sportline-ish exterior spec (apart from wheels and stance both of which are outside the budget for now!)

Yes logistical as in many world regions suffering drought and people dying. Starving people & crop failures, who cares? Just World wide greed. But the world being over populated & those dying it is hardly a concern for those with plenty.

I have no idea why England are so rubbish at having safe drinking water and never any shortages, and obviously being plentiful it costs so much. That's an easy one, greed is the answer.

I received a message about a consultation on the interconnector from Scotland down the North sea to England and landfall. One place to see the Plans is Alford. Not Alford Aberdeenshire but Alford in Lincolnshire England. Surely not another song and dance in England over getting Electricity to their areas from the seaside. No wonder everything takes so long when some people are just not happy getting energy if it means some disruption.

The UK planned to phase out coal fired power stations by 2025. This goal was achieved on 30th September 2024 when Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station, the UKs last coal fired power station was de-synced from the National Grid for the last time.

Hmm, so are our coal / wood pellet fuelled power stations days numbered. Will anybody actually commit to a date and keep to it is the real question.

Chain engines can usually be distinguished fairly readily by the chain cover being sealed (because it has to keep oil inside). Belt engines have looser fitting, unsealed timing covers.

Motecarlo, 1.2TSI 105hp 2014. I understand there are 2 engine types in this model year. How do I identify mine? Are they both belt engines? Car is not being driven.

I recently bought an August 2024 Karoq 1.5TSi DSG SEL with the leather seats option. I dislike the 'bus driver' high & close to wheel seating position of many SUVs. I have the seat set at its lowest position and as far back as possible for my leg length with the steering wheel set to match. It's almost as comfortable as my previous 2018 Seat Leon FR and perfectly acceptable during a 2-1/2 hour drive. I'm 5'11".

It's no longer as easy to program the key to the vehicle as it used to be. Since the introduction of the MQB platform, the vehicle identification number (VIN) is stored on the key. This means that only the authorized dealership's ODIS online system can program the key, as it relates to the vehicle's immobilizer, which, simply put, also contains the vehicle's signature. When a new key is ordered, the software at the factory writes exactly the same information onto the key as when the vehicle left the factory. The remote control can now only be programmed via the immobilizer procedure.

There are a number of threads where people are complaining that it picks up long removed temporary speed limits. There are no signs at all to see now, but on the M1 and M4 it comes up with 50 mph at places where there were roadworks many moons ago.

Hello, welcome to the forum. Engine starting, then stopping within a short time sounds like an engine immobiliser issue to me - possibly reinforced by the 'Safe' being displayed on the instrument cluster. Has immobiliser been checked?

Hi, the factory says to bleed the system with 2 bar pressure min to avoid issues. Then use a diagnostic tool to bleed the ABS hydraulics. I can give you some info to help visualise why you have not completely lost braking even though it feels like it: The reservoir is divided internally into three chambers, all of which use the same fluid until below the half way mark which will bring on the low fluid level indicator on the dash. As the leaking circuit continues to loose fluid due to blown cylinder seals, it's chamber will empty but fluid is maintained in the good circuit chamber hence you will still have some diagonal braking. Automatics will have the three chambers too, but the clutch one will be sealed off at the exit tube. The reason for compartmentalising the reservoir is to provide an emergency backup should a circuit fail as in your case. You will still have normal braking on one diagonal split which provides emergency braking. In your case the NSR and the OSF will still have a sound circuit, but you will have lost your OSR and NSF circuit. If you have a manual transmission, and the clutch circuit has sprung a leak, the fluid in the whole reservoir will drop to half way, then continue to empty the clutch chamber, but the two brake circuits will be protected from losing fluid from their chambers. Prob won't help you much as you need a pressure bleed by sound of it once the shoes and cylinder have been replaced. Adobe Express 2026-06-03 16.11.43.mp4 Did my daughters yesterday. Once pressure bled and less than 1/3 pedal travel confirmed, you use diagnostic tool to bleed the ABS. Both fronts then both rears at same time following GFF on VAS PC V19 until the end of the test.

New (non dimming) mirror glass installed this evening. It doesn’t have the clip for the dimming wiring plug so I had to tuck it away. Initially it fouled the swivel movement so had to very carefully take the glass off again and tuck it away a bit neater. I also received the third attempt at buying a steering wheel with DSG. This time it was listed as for a karoq with part number 3V0419091AB. It is completely identical to my current wheel but with the addition of DSG paddles. No idea what makes it different from 3V0419091S and 3V0419091M as they look the same too. But those ones are listed as for a superb and tend to be significantly more expensive. It came with the usual wreckers grime but 5 minutes with some autoglym leather cleaner and a damp cloth and it looks good as new. Silky smooth with a nice matt finish. What was described as a scuff on the wheel in the eBay listing turned out to be grime so that was a bonus. The vehicle it came from had only done 38,000 miles so I’ve ended up with a steering wheel significantly newer and in better condition than my old one too! The addition of some alloy DSG extension paddles completes the look. (Thanks again @JR RS for the link!) Will I use them? Probably not. Do I love them? Most definitely.

Think there is a small plastic cover inside that when removed you push a plastic lever to open manually. On my Mk2 octavia theres a small slit that you slide a screwdriver left/right. Maybe some foreign object has jammed locking system. Alasdair

Loads of info about this in various threads and posts covering different models on here if you wanted to do a search or if you get few replies. What little I can remember - someone said go with Panasonic batteries (IIRC) - seems to be a lot with problems use Duracell but that might just be a coincidence of the popularity of the brand (all that advertising works). Personally I'd be very careful where I got my batteries from for something like this as counterfeits/fakes can be about. If you have the two keyfobs close together and their signal can reach the car with some systems the keyfobs could be trying to outdo each other as to which is dealing with the car and wear battery(ies) out even though they should both be at rest. I might be on fantasy island with this one, carrying the keyfob together with one of these absolutely marvellous "smart" phones or devices and or having the keyfob in your pocket(?). All beyond me as I prefer a a keyblade, even annoys me using the button on the keyfob because the only door lock is hidden (not my car so I'm not allowed to moan about that). One thing I do know is not to let your car battery get to a lower state of charge if you don't want to be punished by the cars computer programs.

Only on Auto mode full beam (1 push, not 2). I've noticed that a lot of bixenon beemers have been flashing me when i'm on dipped, but a quick blip of main quells any dickishness from them.

Water is a logistical world problem not a shortage of water. The Uk's problems are caused by profit hungry private companies and people washing cars and gardening with drinking quality water.
