  2. Nothing short of EXCELLENT. Drive home very smooth, car seemed to 'glide' rather than drive. Kept spotting Yetis' on the way home haha Added a couple of DAB radio channels into the memory, but not sure how or when the station ident images will appear. Need to test out the LED headlamps tonight to haha Still need to set up the 'key personalisation' and read a bit of the manual too. VERY pleased with it.

  4. The irony is that they're total idiots, because even if you leave it on all the time it does nothing unless the temperature gets above the threshold which never happens in winter, the type of compressor fitted on the Fabia is permanently engaged so it keeps PAG oil circulating whenever the engine's running. Just get the system leak tested and regassed.

  9. Sorry, we always seem to have this argument.. I have this work commute, that is about 10 miles there, 10 miles back so 20 miles in total a day, takes about 30 minutes to commute, I've never had this question fully answered, but is it generally frowned upon doing this sort of commute distance on a Diesel with a DPF car? is there a risk of stuffing up the DPF? As for road types, it's generally country roads, 40-60mph crusing speed for the vast majority with only a bit of 20/30mph "town" driving at the end. What's everyones thoughts?

  10. Bought one of them last year, without the bench. Its pretty decent, though id advise picking spare blades of various tooth sizes at the same time so your not waiting for them to return.. Also get a decent set square to calibrate the mitre angle screws, they aint perfect out of the box and a couple if degrees out makes a big difference.

  11. Some of my favourite proverbs which can have driving related links. If in doubt, don't. Pride comes before a fall. Two wrongs don't make a right. All have a relevance in your situation I think. Here endeth the lesson lol.

  15. Yes 1,202 miles. I have now done 1221 miles. The car was delivered on a transporter to my home as dealer had another vehicle to deliver in same area that day. By the way the handover was very good!

  17. I hope it takes account of which country you're in (drive on the left vs. drive on the right), and what about if you're in the second, third or fourth lane - will it vear across the traffic on the inside? Sounds like there are too many variables that need to be taken into account for "pulling over" to be correctly judged by an autonomous system...

  18. Don't get the diesel if you are driving in to one of the 45 largest cities in the UK which are moving towards charging cars that produce significant levels of NOX. If the charge is £20 or s, like London, could work out expensive. This seems to be why diesel sales represent less than a thord of new cars sales despite the huge discounts being given off them. Buy one at your peril for residuals and future costs accessing larger cities/towns.

  19. I was assuming that the items which should be done "Every 4 years" - new spark plugs, timing belt inspection, etc - would be due 4 years after the car was first registered, on 16/12/2014. Notice that 4 years from that date is just less than 9 months from now. I found the maintenance manual in this thread. Is this the best reference for the service schedule? @pist0nbr0ke I hoped they might know something. It's not like any of this stuff is magic hidden info. The dealer has since sent me through another screenshot from portal.cpn.vwg which seems to show the Amundsen. Although it doesn't list the ACC, which is shown on a screenshot from HPI "spec check". I think I'll just have to pay it a visit and look over everything carefully.

  22. Thanks a lot! I know I said there would be a break in the extras and mods for this car but if there is one thing you should all know about me it's that I am a liar and have no self control. It's a cheap mod this time though, I promise!

  25. The first owner may have specified larger alloys from new (say 17" or 18") which could easily bump up the co2 into the next road tax band. Have seen this over the years when ordering new cars from the brochures, generally extra drag from wider tyres or less rolling resistance.

  26. Every time I open the bonnet he has to inspect the engine. Petrol/diesel, no difference. Luckily he doesn't like sitting on paintwork.

  32. Very easy to repair as well. They only have one small circuit board. They have bags, but they're cheap.

  33. Just get a Henry if you want a cylinder type, or a Sebo X4 upright. Both have bags (so no hidden filters to change to prevent "loss of suction" as you change the filter every time you put a new bag in), both are corded so plenty of power and won't run out just when you forget to charge it one day, and the battery in it won't need changing any time soon I bet.

  34. I'm using Huawei P9 with no problems at all. If looking for a 200£ phone, I'd go with the new Nokia 6 just released (https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/new-product/mobile-phone/nokia-6-2018-uk-3668928/). All Nokias come with vanilla Android (meaning Android as Google wants it to be) with no skins, EMUIs, bloatware etc in them. This means Google services are 100% guaranteed to work. If looking for Nokias, just make sure to get the new 2018 model 6 and not the last years model.

  35. I used to have a journey like yours - diesel was not the best of ideas. Get yourself a petrol. Since I switched to 60 mile round trips - it became more worth it and more so when it became 300+mile round trips. So.. to reiterate - get yourself a petrol and if you find your mileage jumping up to something silly - then invest in a diesel.

  41. I have always used Brodit and they are great, not cheap though. Than I saw "SashaGrace's" post and got one of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/YOSH-Rubber-Magnetic-Tablets-devices/dp/B0746JM5PK/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1524236177&sr=8-13&keywords=yosh+magnetic+phone+holder Cheap but works well. My phone is cased so magnet is on inside of the case. Holds the phone really well. Seconds to fit and for £6.99 it's a steal.

  42. Should have them for Wednesday. Turns out he mis-quoted as the web price is actually €17 (I'd spotted that but assumed he'd given me a little discount for the full set) but he was good enough to hold the quoted price. If it all works out OK, worth bearing in mind as a source for stuff. Many thanks to TheRoq for the tip

  46. Just a boring update. Carried out the first clean of the year after the winter. Fitted a tow bar as wanted a way to transport bicycles without using a bike rack, so will go for a tow bar mounted rack - also, wanted a way to transport my motorbike when I move house in the next year (pic attached for those who care), usually costs approx £150 for a company to transport, so thought id buy a single bike trailer also. Also getting bored of the Prosport coilovers. Seems they've been on a few years and to be honest, you can tell they're cheap and slightly crashy! So, have opted to go for Bilsteins coupled with H&R -20mm, so will possibly raise the height a small amount, but I'm sure will feel better on the new suspension. Just have to find time to get them fitted!
