1. Well, after the various delays our Karoq has finally arrived. It's an Edition 1.5 TSI in Quartz Grey and I have to say I have been impressed with it. My dear lady likes it too which is more important as it is her car. Not really sat down and gone through all the little menus and sub-menus yet, but generally speaking impressed with the equipment and quality of the car. Certainly different to drive than my TT and I found myself when I was allowed to have a go driving in a much more relaxed manner. The ACC is fantastic, I genuinely found that an absolute dream on the motorway over the weekend. Surprised with the level of pull from the engine. While not being dramatic, it does the job and definitely an improvement on the outgoing Yaris. Long way to go, but it's made a good first impression. Glad the hassle of the delivery problems is over and come just move on and enjoy the car.

 3. Witnesses who stayed with me until Emergency Services arrived were both aghast at the speed she was travelling. One, an off-duty PC said he was in the process of calling it in to the police before i was hit. So, prosecution , hopefully.

 7. 1,000 miles on and my Brooks Flyer is as comfortable as my 25 year old Brooks Conquest. I now have a new Brooks B17 on the way from Amazon for use on my Fat Bike where there is no need for springs. £57.75, so much cheapness. Happy with the new B17 in 'Honey', never had one in the Box with the spanner and proofide before, just in a polly bag. £57.46 and 4 days to delivered.

 9. Just to let you know about this, a member on here had a bad crash in his Superb last week and all airbags triggered and all. The SOS system automatically rang the control centre and my mate could only mutter 'ambulance' and they called it and had the GPS location from the system (No sat nav fitted in car). I was well impressed . Also a very loud siren went off and a voice blaring 'Impact, Impact'. His car is written off and he only has bruising and swelling. Brilliant cars.

 10. It's not the only thing looking less than pristine! I feel very lucky and if I take anything away from this, it's the fact that I will spec the next car from the safety options list first before spending the remainder on trim/sound system etc. The metallic paint and l.e.d package did not save my life.

 11. Maybe comes up with a google, a great place beside Dyce Airport (Aberdeen), drop the car off in the morning, have a day out in Aberdeen pick the car up at tea time with refurbished wheels. If they still do that. http://thewheelspecialist.co.uk Edinburgh, South Gyle Crescent. PS There was a top quality Wheel Refurbisher Ayr / Prestwick area. Drop off the wheels, price was dependent on how quick you needed them back.

 14. Spent the weekend away with the Scouts. Things I have learnt: 280 superbs will tow a trailer at any speed you want so you have to be careful not to go too fast. fuel economy with a slab front trailer is 19.8mpg which is pretty much half of the unladen average from last week (38.0mpg) Scout centres down mile-long dusty rough roads leave you with a (yet to be tackled) big cleaning job white was probably not my best decision (although this level of filth would be bad on any colour other than 'filth brown' I suspect)

 16. Just to bring this thread to a conclusion. Nokian responded to the claim and offered a £160 refund. Given the wear on the tyres and the clear issues with my rear alignment I thought this was fair. A big thank you to Tyre Spot in Newcastle who processed the claim for me (I didn't buy the tyres from them, but will certainly be buying my next set from them as a result). Just goes to show a little persistence can sometimes be worth it.

 17. I had a CitiGo Colour Edition from the garage while my Fabia was in for a service. I was very impressed with the new radio system- very easy to pair my phone, very clear display, and the phone holder worked great once I'd worked out how to adjust it properly! I didn't use the Skoda app, I just used Android Auto running on my phone. For such a 'cheap' system it was great. TBH, it's all you need in a car like the CitiGo. TBH, the car was great all round.

 25. Hi, In continuation to my earlier post I found better way of using stock AMP with after market radio. Warning: DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WONT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP. What you need. 1. Arduino UNO (I think you can use Nano also) 2. CAN Shield https://www.dropbox.com/s/lmxbs6dnu5scp1b/MCP2515-CAN-Bus-Module-TJA1050-Receiver-SPI-Module-for-Arduino.jpg 3. CAN Shield library (https://github.com/coryjfowler/MCP_CAN_lib) 4. 7808 Voltage regulator Step 1: Download and extract Arduino IDE and CAN shield library Step 2: Connect CAN Shield to Arduino as per below diagram Step 3: Connect Arduino to PC, compile and upload below code to Arduino #include <mcp_can.h> #include <SPI.h> MCP_CAN CAN0(10); // Set CS to pin 10 void setup() { Serial.begin(115200); // Initialize MCP2515 running at 16MHz with a baudrate of 500kb/s and the masks and filters disabled. if(CAN0.begin(MCP_ANY, CAN_100KBPS, MCP_16MHZ) == CAN_OK) Serial.println("MCP2515 Initialized Successfully!"); else Serial.println("Error Initializing MCP2515..."); CAN0.setMode(MCP_NORMAL); // Change to normal mode to allow messages to be transmitted } void loop() { // send data: ID = 0x100, Standard CAN Frame, Data length = 8 bytes, 'data' = array of data bytes to send unsigned char stmp0[6] = {0x03, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00}; byte sndStat0 = CAN0.sendMsgBuf(0x507, 0, 6, stmp0); delay(5000); // send data per 5000ms } /********************************************************************************************************* END FILE *********************************************************************************************************/ Step 4: Build 7808 Voltage regulator, as per below diagram Step 5: Connect Arduino to car. 27. Or a black touch up pen. My mate’s got a £600 set of alloys on his micra, two colours on his alloy and scuffed his a beauty the other week, I told him to use a touch up pen, he was like I am away for a refurb. He is not finding many places in Edinburgh willing to refurb due to two different colours! Davy

 28. I low-sided off a bike in a damp, 60 mph curve, and as I was barrel-rolling back across oncoming traffic, I remember thinking, "Thank God for this helmet". I went out the next day and bought a full-face one. It's not the speed that kills, it's the sudden stop. It's also interesting how you can suddenly find God where there was only god before.

 34. For anyone that doesn't know, HYUNDAI does a discount scheme for government or ex-government workers. That's nice since you don't get any perks if you work for the government, even having to apply for your own job almost every year these days. If you are ex-government you have to be in receipt of a government pension of any size (state pensions don't count of course). You then qualify for a HUGE discount! I worked for the government for a short period of time years ago and have a small pension from them. Last year, on a £20k car I was able to get near £4.5k off the price without any haggling! My ex-boss, also an ex-government worker got an amazing deal on a i10 top of the range model. Don't forget that Kia and Hyundai are married to each other and use the same engines and gearboxes, although in differing states of tune sometimes. I've seen inside the engines on many Hyundai's and they are well made, as is the whole car. But it's Kia that has taken over as the NUMBER ONE for reliability in the JD Power reliability stakes. They were second to Skoda a year or so ago but have overtaken even Skoda now! Food for thought. ps. I quite like the look of the Kia Picanto Xline-s....it runs 15mm higher than the standard picanto and has absolutely everything in it including heated seats, heated steering wheels etc etc. Too many things to mention. They drive amazingly on 195/45 16" alloys and it's a full 5 seater. Does up to 74.3mpg on the 1.2 petrol engine. Gets almost rave reviews...not much different in size to the Fabia hatch in real terms (just a bit smaller) but a really nice car. It's the 3rd generation of the Picanto.

 35. No Pics unfortunately, but SWMBO and I were our on the bikes around Clumber Park in Worksop on Sunday, very pleasant leisurely 7.5 miles. It's been a while since the CX has been ridden in anger properly, but it keeps the lube flowing Awaiting the new number plate for the bike rack - camping in Dalby Forest next weekend so it'll get a blast then

 37. Mine is the DTUK Plus box set to the amber light with 1 + red light (the ones in between the plus and minus buttons) . On my 220 DSG it works fine in that setting even in set in lethargic comfort mode - instant throttle response.

 38. That will cause the EGR valve to be permanently closed. No exhaust will be recirculated into the intake. Usually causes a fault light, but you don't mention one. Valve itself, and inlet manifold will not clog up further with oily soot, but NOx emissions will be much worse. Living in the Highlands this probably won't cause anyone much harm.

 42. I would agree with the above, having towed vans with cars before within the 3500 kg limit and then beyond after adding my E entitlement I would be wary of a heavy van as a first tow. You don’t need stress when towing, and the last thing you want is to buy the van and find the towing very stressful and twitchy as you’ll spend more than £3k upgrading your license and upgrading the car. I would recommend adding an E entitlement anyway as you know you’ll be licensed to tow it and you’ll have some practice with an instructor. Remember that you have a provisional E entitlement, but the person in the passenger seat must have taken an E entitlement test, not just have grandfather rights. If my partner wanted to tow an outfit over 3500 kgs MAM, I could supervise from the passenger seat, but my father couldn’t as he only has grandfather rights, he hasn’t taken an E entitlement test.
