  1. I’ve got a genuine Skoda Corrida Red touch up, with the red and a separate lacquer. It’s says expires 02/2018 but I’ve just checked it and it’s fine. If you would like it, it’s yours f.o.c, pm me your address and I’ll stick it in the post.

  2. After investigation by the dealership, the kangarooing on our Karoq 1.5Tsi manual was confirmed. Later that same day I met with the general manager and handed in a letter of rejection together with the keys to the vehicle, which we had owned for 28 days. Within the letter we stated we required a replacement vehicle or a full refund. We also said that we did not want a Karoq with a petrol engine preferring a return to diesel. We were told that Skoda UK were still not accepting the kangarooing as an actual fault. However I pointed out that we had not bought the vehicle from Skoda UK. Our dealership were very fair and decent and the situation was dealt with calmly and professionally. I received a telephone call later the same day asking us to confirm that we would be happy to receive a replacement vehicle. Two weeks later we were the owners of a new 68 plate Karoq 1.6Tdi Sel Dsg, same colour as before with 9 delivery miles on the clock; a straight swop. It now has 700 miles on the clock, no kangarooing, no flat spots. Diesel was our choice and at the moment we are very happy with the car. My wife and I hope that all the people on this site get their 1st gear problem sorted and we wish you well. But please remember you bought your vehicle from a dealer, not Skoda UK and you have to be prepared to go all the way. Our dealer was prepared to listen and dealt fairly with us. We would also like to thank all those on this thread for the information we gathered.

  7. I have a dealer's courtesy car at the moment - Škoda Fabia manual 1litre Tsi whilst we are awaiting the other replacement car to arrive, and the courtesy car has some very worrying "characteristic" - it drives itself. I don't need to use the throttle pedal, half of the time it speeds along the road so much so I need to use brake! Come on Škoda! Car's Not Supposed To Do This! Imagine if this Fabia purchased a car school company! Jesus! Personally - that would as learner, scare the heebie geebies out of me!

  8. I guess the side windows normally have less frost and are easier to deice. I can only say this from a personal perspective on my wife's Ford. I'll let you know once I've had a chance to try it on the VRS. Other thing to keep in mind is that is also will demist the screen which often takes some time once you actually have deiced

  9. As above, perfect for a few tweaks or fault code reading, but VCDS is still unrivalled overall. Credits aren't needed to do coding or adaptations and this is the best way to do tweaks; i.e. for yourself and not by tapping once on an "app" which does it all for you. I'm sure I bought pro for about £50 also around 2 years ago? Just looking at the site, the dongle + activation is about 65 euros. Anything else is unnecessary in my opinion.

  13. As a new owner with DCC I wouldnt take an opinion on it from someone unless they had actually tried it, so be sure to ask anyone what their experience is before you make your mind up! The difference between sport and comfort is night and day, it turns a jiggly ride over the local roigh roads into a much more pleasant experience and thats on the 18" wheels. I have went from driving a 2016 car without it to new one with DCC back to back and I would personally recommend it to anyone. Want vs need is an interesting thing though. You dont need it any more than you need to have 245ps or you need to have heated seats or you need to have an alcantara seat. However for me the VRS ride is on the harsh side when confronted with the bumpy backroads I encounter locally. I could put up with it in my old car byt that was the thing I liked the least, driving over the roads and chaging from sport to comfort is fantastic. I'm actually working on a video that shows the differences using a seismic app with the car driving down the same road in different modes.

  14. EGood choices so far! Heated seats are a good move for sure. Have you thought about a space saver spare wheel? The cost is negligible overall. I am a bit biased but another vote for the virtual cockpit from me too!

  15. Following a BMW into the town I live at the 30mph speed limit and we can see 2 refuse trucks on the opposite side of the road to us so we have the right of way. You can probably guess what happens next. BMW driver stops and allows 6 cars to pass the 2 trucks who are collecting rubbish. Eventually I lose my patience and give him the LED headlights to express my JOY at sitting still for no reason for nearly a minute when there are no Traffic Lights, Zebra Crossing, Railway Crossing or any parked vehicle in front of us on our side of the road. If no-one is behind him then he is free to be courteous to other road users but delaying someone deliberately is just PLAIN RUDE. Feel better for getting that off my chest.

  16. If you haven’t set the seat position memory, you also haven’t set the mirror position memory that goes with it (different drivers will need the seat AND the mirrors to match their positions). If you haven't set the mirror position, the mirror doesn’t have a setting to return to.

  17. I belong to a motorbike forum where "PC" is not allowed and all types of non-pc comments are made, especially where appropriate. On here I accept that is not the case and hopefully I have not offended. Don't go as for me everybody's input is good no matter how small or big that input is. Take a step back and just chill, believe me there much worse things in life than to worry how some reactions are perceived. That plug in device enabling you to use the and obtain VCDS type information is one I am following.

  18. Happy New Year everyone! It's been a quiet few months on the vRS due to the arrival of our second son in August and the many sleepness nights that ensued thereafter, but I've managed to sneak a few visual mods on over the course of December to keep me entertained whilst the car was still in warranty Custom number plates This was a cheeky experiment It'd bothered me for a while that the front plate appears to overhang the lower grille slightly, and the white of the standard plate looked stark against the Meteor Grey. So I wanted a shortened front plate (104mm to be precise, still within legal dimensions) and a very subtle tint. It took me a while to find a willing supplier but Adam at AW Tuning was absolutely spot on! Couldn't fault the service I received from those guys. Check them out: https://www.facebook.com/awtuningpage/ Colour coded Skoda badges / Black vRS badges I think any vRS that comes with the black pack should come from the factory like this. Why de-chrome the grille, window surrounds and roof bars and leave the badges? 19. Big update - new wheels! When the Skoda garage identified a small bulge in one of the P Zeros on the Xtremes I initially planned to replace all four tyres with Michelin PS4S in 235/35/19 with the view to fitting those to a new set of wheels in the future. All very sensible. Then I stumbled across a set of Racingline VWR360 wheels for sale on an Audi forum with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym3s. They weren't very well advertised so nobody had seen them, and I got them for £750 including tyres. Considering the RRP of the wheels alone is £1100 I got a bargain. They balanced up perfectly with no cracks or buckles and the tyres all have an even 6-7mm of tread. I couldn't have been luckier! With the assistance of my trusty helper I set about giving them a good clean Masked off and painted the rusty wheel weights to make them blend in Then polished and sealed them ready for fitting Weight comparison - a very handy unsprung weight saving of 1.2kg per corner All that's left is to stand back and admire the results The fitment is perfect - no spigot rings or spacers needed and they really fill the arches nicely. The car is now desperate to be lowered to do the wheels justice, so the Eibach springs will be going on ASAP. In the meantime though the unsprung weight saving has improved the ride quality and made the car noticeably more willing to change direction. Win win!

  22. If I could get 740 miles from the 1.4TSi petrol hatch back in 2016 (Superb SE manual) per tank you could achieve 900 miles from the 66 litre tank (don't be surprised if you can squeeze upto 70 litres into the tank if you play EMPTY ROULETTE.

  23. A The credits are for when yo want to use the one touch ‘app’ changes (something which I’d not recommend). I bought the pro version about two years ago. It wasn’t £109, that seems quite expensive. I’ve not used VCDS but in terms of the way you use both tools to make changes it must be similar as I have used VCDS instructions in the past and it all made sense and worked. In summary. If you’re just wanting it to make a few tweaks and maybe scan for fault codes it’s a worth while buy. If you’re a serious user, then VCDS is still the lead contender. Don’t use the apps, learn to code yourself. It isn’t difficult and there are plenty guides around, some of which I’ve posted myself. That way you can see and be sure what’s being changed. There are more than a few posts flying around where people have used and app to make an adaptation, it’s not been correct for their model year of car and they have error codes coming out their ears.

  25. I live in Spain and so got a different standard spec to UK models. As standard my 245 wagon came with reversing camera, privacy glass and power tail gate. All are excellent additions to the car. A friend has a combi diesel without any of the three. The Octavia is a long car, the camera makes parking a doddle, the power tailgate makes dog access a breeze, and the dark rear windows help reduce, in my opinion, the visible mass of the rear of the car, adding a more slender appearance to the side view. Also in meteor grey, with no crome, the black windows, wheels etc improve the Q car look.

  27. Shocker as Audi starting around £33k+ is the best quality wise Vs a Ford starting around £18k+ and a Skoda starting around £18k. Yes the VRS is also just a standard Octavia, however it's a £26k version of an £18k car, whereas the Focus RS is a £33k version of an £18k car. Whilst there's always going to be a gap between the lowest trim and the top one, the RS isn't far off double cost with largely the same £18k interior and infotainment etc. How old is your Focus and Octavia? My VRS is 5+ and 50k and the only signs of wear inside are a few light scuffs on the glovebox door + the leather sides on the drivers seat are fairly creased. Elsewhere it's very much as you'd expect with no real signs of wear, despite having 2 young children. Regarding the bit about expecting anything less on a Skoda forum... It's just my opinion, and I happen to own an Octavia but that doesn't automatically qualify my opinion as biased It seems that various magazines also agree that interior quality is still better on the Octavia so I'm not alone outside of the Skoda Forum. Whatcar, who to my knowledge do not post on a Skoda forum, or have any other Skoda bias agenda, also reported from a triple test of the new Focus, Octavia and Kia Ceed, that interior quality was still best in the Octavia. A car model 5 years older than the Focus tested. They rated the Focus last, and this is the new Focus which has a significantly improved interior over the outgoing Focus ST. Having sat in a new Focus ST Line X recently, I'm inclined to agree; definite improvement over the previous but still inferior to the Octavia in materials and build in my opinion. The infotainment also did not look like something designed for a new model in 2018. Autoexpress also tested a VRS 245 Vs a Focus ST and again voted the Octavia as having a better quality cabin. Haven't seen any biased Autoexpress journalists on here either: https://www.whatcar.com/news/new-ford-focus-and-kia-ceed-vs-skoda-octavia/n18097 https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/octavia/100471/skoda-octavia-vrs-245-vs-ford-focus-st

  28. Just to be clear - all additional factory options count towards the 'list price'. I recently took delivery of a non-plus Sportline 272 with options, ordered back in April (WLTP delays), which was also very close to the threshold and had concerns it was going to creep over due to price increases (which there were), however I emailed my dealer at least twice who confirmed it was under, although my confidence in the accuracy of that that response was not exactly high, I got he impression that they were not sure at times. The DVLA guidance @Sagalout referred to is here which is probably the most clear content I have seen.: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/534511/ved-reform-briefing-for-motor-industry.pdf (see ref to list and notional prices) http://dvla.dft.gov.uk/ved/ved-reform-briefing2.pdf (definitions of list and notional prices and what is / not included). Note that the guidance states that the warranty packages are not included, however my dealer was insistent that my additional 2 year manufacturer warranty counted towards it. I'm still not clear on this point myself, I see the logic as it was a manufacturer option and not from a 3rd party / dealer. I get the impression that the return to the DVLA that then determines the taxation is a dealer responsibility, and as such could be prone to mistakes being made upon any given dealer's interpretation of the rules. As such - get any confirmation from dealer in writing to assist in any future dispute.

  29. I suspect the vast majority of Superb premature pad/disc wear are due to poor quality or faulty calipers and/or carriers stopping free sliding and release. This has been a problem on my previous VAG cars too, Octavia and Alhambra which were conventional handbrakes. Once I had serviced them properly by stripping them down, properly cleaning and dressing with a hand file, lubricated correctly in the right places with Ceratec grease, the problems went away.

  31. Tyresonthedrive are currently doing them for £92 a corner fitted, but £20 off 2/3 tyres making them £82 each for a pair. They will also come to you which I think Blackcircles mobile fitters charge extra for. Had 4 fitted by them last year, did a cracking job and the deal was better than anywhere else.

  32. Believe it or not it was Kwik Fit, Ive used them in the past but make a huge pantomime out of taking photos of your wheels right in front of them and they then become pretty careful..

  33. Thanks who was that from/with for that price? Blackcircles are coming up as £95 fitted. Costco were doing them but they're not listing them currently. You're right I'd be struggling to justify the cost at the £90+ a corner fitted currently too Unless there was a really good deal going of course.

  34. Hi, just got it back from the dealer, they want to replace the whole central console. But I played a bit more with it. If you set the rear zone to Low and close the rear air vent and increase the general air flow a bit, then it comes through with a decent cold flow in the central console. Can you try that? @facet edge do you have it set in a particular way? Do you have 2 zones or 3? Thanks

  36. I defer to you on DCC but I'm not missing it (yes I have tried it) and I've got some pretty crappy road surfaces mine gets driven on locally down here in Hampshire. OP should try to test drive both to ultimately know. But I don't find the non DCC ride harsh at all on bumper road, if anything a little soft Which follows my findings from Leon Cupra ownership where i had to go aftermarket spings and dampers to fix the wallowy standard but improved (they said) sports suspension. Main gripe I have are the OE tyres on my vRS not being the best in the cold/wet.

  40. Faulty calipers would actually make perfect sense with the scorched discs reports in that other older thread that is quoted above. Problem is as discs are officially wear n tear items, it's easy for a lazy dealer to dismiss any further investigation until you start applying pressure or pointing out that it's just not normal for rears to wear out faster than fronts. Definitely something to keep in mind and mention for anyone with the same issue.

  43. I have just seen this print out in the flesh at my dealership. When pushed on a timeframe they explained no definitive but roughly 6 weeks (yes strange). I asked for a copy but was refused. Didn't take much convincing either, no road test, just sat in the passenger seat while I explained, then coughed up about the pending software update. So Skoda ARE aware so I suggest people with the issue make a visit to their dealership, and if any knowledge of the issue is denied, produce the above form and ask them politely to check again.

  44. Yesterday I had the Little Red Devil pop up 2 or 3 times during a 36 mile round trip on minor and urban roads. No cruise control involved. It seems to happen mostly for railings on the pavement, islands or parked cars, but the brakes never get applied. I have it on most sensitive setting and just live with it in the hope it will save my bacon one day. I’d be worried if it slammed on as per the OP’s event above.
