  1. Hello, 1 - It seems that the service interval counter was not reset when the 'full service' was carried out - take it back and ask them to reset it correctly. 2 - That is normal, there is no oil pressure until the engine is running.
  2. Sorry, I do not understand 'VANOS' I believe the item indicated in your image is the timing chain cover. It encloses the chain that drives the cams operating the exhaust and inlet valves.
  3. How long was the car driven after the coolant temperature warning came up?
  4. Hi, that may be the case - OP was requesting information on converting halogens to LEDs. There are clearly very good reasons for laws made to maintain certain minimum standards and (hopefully) protect others. Personally, I find my standard Mk3 Octavia halogens to be excellent in all conditions - even when 'Pressing on' as they say.
  5. Does this problem happen more often when the engine/gearbox/clutches are cold? Even if you cannot get the problem to occur when they look at it again, insist that they enter the issue, exactly as described, against your vehicles record. I believe that your concern is justified.
  6. I have noticed a huge increase in unacceptable light-scatter from oncoming vehicles in the past year - even in supposed dipped mode, the vast majority from clearly LED type equipped cars - please spare a thought for the poor, now dazzled, driver coming towards you. Pray he or she swerves away from (instead of towards) you.
  7. Hello Grant, were you able to demonstrate this shuddering to the Dealership? It sounds to me like you have a problem with the clutch pack.
  8. If that is a true level for the oil, I'd suggest a trip to your local garage and ask them if they can suck about 1/2 a litre of oil out through the dipstick.
  9. Also be aware that holding the dip stick in an upward angle as shown in your image can give a misleading, high reading as the oil flows up the stick.
  10. And does the oil on the dip stick smell of fuel at all?
  11. Hello RJ, does your car have automatic stop/start? - if so the battery you mention will not be compatible.
  12. Very bad habit - If you dislike auto idle stop so much why not simply switch it off each time you drive? - keeping the car in gear with the clutch down places a lot of unnecessary wear on the clutch release and can also lead to unfortunate consequent issues, say, if your foot slips off the pedal for any reason.
  13. Hello Mikke, that is a very disappointing pre-delivery inspection.
  14. I noticed that even though you said there was 'just shy of 1/2 tank' of fuel, the fuel gauge was reading below empty - significant?
  15. I use that brands concentrated screen wash - can highly recommend.
  16. That fuel gauge reading before refilling doesn't sound right to me - what is the capacity spec. for the 190?
  17. Take careful note of what happens the next time you refuel, particularly as you're getting close to full tank. When you first found this issue, was the fuel gauge indicating normally for expected fuel use at that point?
  18. @skomaz would that work on faded roof bars too? Mine have gone a bit grey.
  19. As part of being an old Scout, I always carry a portable 12V power pack and a corded air compressor in my wagon, great for the many times I pick up a slow puncture from the seemingly countless nails and screws on the road - also useful for removing any possible risk of damage when being a good neighbour giving someone a jump start.
  20. Hello Nicky, one thing sticks out for me - that is particularly low mileage for a diesel, there is a possibility of issues with the DPF if it hasn't had enough running to complete regeneration cycles.
  21. Depending on your estimated load, simply extrapolate a suitable pressure somewhere between the two sets of figures.
  22. But vehicles with the 'older/normal type' of charging systems did not have regenerative charging - I have seen nothing to suggest that disconnection of the sensing tag on the battery disables regenerative charging - it simply disables the idle stop function by simulating a battery voltage that is too low to allow it.
  23. The two things that concern me about that are - 1; That disables auto idle stop (which, personally I find useful, but disable when anticipating a very short stop) 2; Does that not raise the possibility of overcharging the battery when driving conditions change and more regenerative charging becomes available?
