  1. Hi, when you do as AG suggests, does the throttle hiccup occur or is the throttle response smooth?
  2. @varoooms reference on ' touching glass' is for the lamp itself - the oil left by your fingerprints will etch the glass, which can result in the lamp shattering - this may have been the cause of the original failure. Cotton gloves or a clean cloth are essential when handling most lamps (even QH types)
  3. Re. the items in the trunk - reduce weight here by moving some of the heavy items to trailer, position over axle.
  4. I used to tow various trailers with reduced nose weights (for easier single handed handling) - and used an adjustable, friction type, stabiliser attachment instead. No stability issues.

I'd be a little suspicious about Halfrauds claim about the new battery adaptation - there is at least one recent posting on this forum, where they stated to a member that a new battery does not need it!
  6. Pretty likely that new plugs will sort the problem - agree on considering replacing cam belt.

Hello DG, typically, how long do you leave the infotainment on with the engine stopped before the warning comes up?
  8. A tip in the case of crossed threads - especially if just at the first few threads of the tapping - with a non-stripped bolt, cut two or three angled grooves across the threads at the end of the bolt with a fine-blade hacksaw and use it to 'clean up' the starting threads while very carefully keeping the bolt in correct alignment. With a HT bolt, this can serve as a tap if the thread isn't too badly damaged.
  9. Wiper service position is also useful for when you put a cover (frost or sunscreen) on windshield.
  10. Hello Dimple, welcome to the forum. The lines around the rear side window (which look like heating elements) is the antenna itself on the estate - at least it is on the Mk3. I cannot confirm location of amplifier - but likely to be behind the lining trim panel in the trunk.
  11. Hello K, are you asking about switching from DSG to manual selection of gears through the stick while on the move? - if so, yes - just move stick to side (M) and push forward to change up, pull back to change down.
  12. Hi K, Vrs, TSI or TDI, etc.
  13. Hello K, welcome to the forum. What model Mk 3 do you have? If you can locate the information, helpful to edit your profile to include engine code, etc. - this will help others in the event of any issues you may want advice on.
  14. I believe it is for de-rating the maximum speed warning (if set) - winter tyres usually have a lower rating.
  15. Check to see if they have genuinely ceased trading, report to trading standards or consider taking to County Court.
  16. Another cause can be a slightly high resistance on the lamp holder contacts - removing and refitting the bulb can often be enough to clean the contacts.
  17. You might get one if you charge a number of machinegun positions all on your own 😁
  18. Does your Octavia have 5 or 6 speed gearbox? The specification I can see for the 2.0 litre (5 speed, non-turbo?) is only 116 PS - The 1.8 litre, 6 speed is quoted as 180PS.
  19. Hello OJ, what is the condition and mileage of the engine? Simply strapping a turbo onto what is possibly a fairly worn engine could turn out to be a very bad idea. Fuelling will also be a major issue.
  20. And contamination by wear products - eg. syncro-rings etc.
  21. If available, try using premium diesel if you are not already using it - if using additive, probably better to put in tank before filling, to allow better mixing.
  22. The reading are probably from the same module - but display indicator resets will be a separate function. Are you aware that the long-term fuel consumption memory will automatically reset after a certain distance (or period?)? My MY16 does this at approx. 1500 miles - but my trip reading is not affected when it does.
  23. That is interesting - are you aware that fuel formulation is usually different during the winter? This could suggest some sort of fuelling issue when using 'warm weather' formulation. I suggest trying a reputable fuel cetane-booster for a tankful and see if that changes things. If it does, the fuelling system should be checked.
  24. Hello Joe, that seems unlikely - I have seen references in this forum where some members have disconnected that sensor to permanently disable stop-start, I have not seen any issues reported when they did so. More likely to be an intermittent open-circuit in the instrument cluster.
