  1. EV = expansion vessel (tank) Fan kicking in when parking up is probably normal - either running a DPF regen - or simply calling for cooling because of vehicle stopping (no forward air flow) TSIs have an electric, auxiliary pump to circulate coolant for short period after vehicle stop, unsure if TDIs have the same, but probably - if aux. pump is not running when required, it is likely that coolant temperature (and pressure) will initially rise on engine shutdown.
  2. Assuming engine is not actually overheating, check the EV cap first, it may be releasing (or not holding) pressure, allowing coolant to boil-off early. Do you know if your engine is fitted with an auxiliary coolant pump?
  3. Hello, welcome to the forum. What engine do you have? Multiple fault codes such as you show is often an indication that the battery is failing.
  4. Hello, welcome to the forum. Are you filling the expansion tank to the top - or just to the Max. line on the side of the tank?
  5. That battery is in remarkedly clean condition for original fit, obviously very well cared-for.
  6. So was almost certainly replaced during last service, good.
  7. @apfm141 Your infotainment setup will probably be quite a bit different to Mk3 but check in 'Vehicle settings' - scroll to 'Mirrors & wipers' - is there a check box for 'Automatic wipe in rain' ?
  8. Hmm, so the default value to be used if plated limit not readable - I wonder...
  9. I will check my display tomorrow - one of the notes in that 2011 posting rang a bell for me - the mention of a 'tick box' to display oil temp in the menu. Ignore the reference to fixed servicing rendering the oil temperature unavailable, not correct.
  10. @banzo7 I assume that you are not in UK, ACT came in with the 1.5 evo engine in UK, didn't it? 1.4 non-ACT up to 2016.
  11. Stonekeeper posted an image of a MB data plate as an example - often located on drivers side B pillar.
  12. Are you able to check your actual plated value - is it 0.8?
  13. You did originally say that it emitted white smoke for two minutes after start from a long stand - was this incorrect?
  14. But is the testing station applying the correct limit to your vehicle?
  15. @apfm141 I looked up the 2023 spec for the Monte Carlo - it says that the light & view pack is standard - this pack includes - High Beam control and Rain sensors (used to operate the automatic wipers)
  16. The question you need to ask - was the air filter actually replaced during the last service?
  17. Are you sure the features you want aren't already fitted? I thought the Monte Carlo was a fairly high spec model. Check - headlight switch has Auto position. AFAIK auto headlights are compulsory in some countries. Check for RLHS sensor mounted behind rear view mirror.
  18. I've always thought the lights, when switched to 'auto' position, turned on in wet conditions because of the low light levels present.
  19. If that battery was near to fully charged and voltage has dropped to less than 40% in two weeks on open circuit, it is probably bad. It may be possible to recover, but almost certainly beyond it.
  20. Hello, welcome to the forum. Is item number two actually a possible option you've seen? - I've never heard of it.
  21. @ApertureS Do you know the TPI number for the Kangaroo issue - or if there was in fact a TPI issued for it?
  22. Assuming you have the MFSW with the L&K, have you scrolled through all the display options in the Maxidot?
  23. If head gasket problems are suspected, best advice as a first check is to test coolant with a combustion products test kit.
  24. My understanding is that fog lights need to be mounted as low as possible so as to use the narrow, relatively clear 'slot' that often exists just above the surface - So far, so good - however it is critical that the fog beams are very tightly controlled to prevent upwards light scatter, which will reflect off the fog.
