The 280PS Thread
Some of the silica bags can’t be reached. I replaced mine with a new genuine expansion bottle without the bag fitted. Think it was about £30.

Sportsline Fuel Consumption
Mine seems to manage about 29-30 urban and 40+mpg extra urban. I don’t know about others, but this yoke of mine seems to prefer running on 97ron, and does seem to dip noticeably if I have to use 95ron.

Superb III Sportline 190 suspension wallowing and pothole bumps
Mode on mine alters steering weight, throttle response and damper rates, depending on suspension setting chosen.

Superb III Sportline 190 suspension wallowing and pothole bumps
On the right hand side of your centre console, if you have DCC it will have a button that says “mode” with a car symbol. It will be above start/stop deactivation and below traction control (if memory serves me).

Dip Stick (no, really !!)

Estate boot lid intermittent fault
Not shutting down due to the battery then. Need to get the connections checked to see if the motor is getting power or if it maybe even stops at the module.

Estate boot lid intermittent fault
Does it work if you lock and unlock the car again? Or would it work if you started the car and then tried the interior or exterior button?

Uneven Tyre Wear
It’s a stretch given the sizeable difference in tread depth, but any chance that’s the wheel that scrabbles for grip coming out of junctions and entering roundabouts etc?

Dash cam / simple (hopefully) question.
Black vue email through not long ago showing 60% off some items. 2 channel system from £199 if that’s any help.

Just came across an email from black vue showing 60% off some of their systems. There was a 2 channel for £199 with memory card.

Ceramic...
I tried the ceramic spray turtle wax when it first came out, as reviews raved about it and I wanted to see for myself. I completely corrected a bonnet. I mean wet sanded and brought back using 4 stages of pad with the machine. Then panel wiped before application. It managed a few months before it looked like it wasn’t there anymore and to be honest it’s just as handy to apply a genuine ceramic coating, as the spray turtle wax flashed terribly and was a complete PITA to put on. not sure how long that one would last, but I’d maybe be more inclined to see if whoever preps the car would be happy enough to apply something like can coat, as it’s straight forward and lasts.

WARNING Remote locking vulnerable to attack
It’s bound to be available from somewhere. These ones are just a wooden box covered in a suede type material. The inside of the lid has the signal blocker material as does an inner removable box that’s also wrapped in it. They just close together to make a contact seal as such. A wee note inside stated it was hand made by some bloke and his family in china, who then wished me a pleasant day. so if you could get your hands on some, you could probably glue it inside an old Tupperware box or the like as well.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CigaMaTe-Car-Key-Signal-Blocker-Box-Faraday-Box-for-Car-Keys-Keyless-Entry-Fob-/255329366723?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 i bought them for not much over £20 each and £16 or £17 for the smaller single key version, so I’d shop around on price. They do work very well, but only time will tell how long they last from being opened and closed.

Dash cam recommendations
My wife’s last car was hit at a roundabout from behind. The driver claimed she had caused it by driving off then standing on the brakes to cause the accident. when I passed on the rear footage of them clearly looking for something on their passenger seat and not even looking where they were going, along with telemetry showing my wife’s car at a complete standstill the entire time, they decided to change their stance. makes me more cautious about having both front and rear cameras fitted.

Yes. It came as standard with a usb power lead. The hardwire kit was an extra. My Ocd kicks in if it’s not fitted neat and tidy 😂.

Unfortunately the one I can absolutely highly recommend is the Blackvue. I’ve had one in my wife’s cars for quite a few years now. Works flawlessly and has a fantastic picture night and day. Hard wired with battery module and ticks all the boxes you’ve listed except the price. In my opinion I’d say it’s worth the extra money though. Can’t remember the exact model, but think it was 650/750s 2 channel.

I use several of these in the house and have spares incase they get damaged from use and stop working. Has blocked every key signal I’ve ever tried and is piece of mind at night.

New rig from Santa at Christmas, and it seems he’s concerned Dirt rally is becoming more dangerous than it used to be. 😂

Dash cam / simple (hopefully) question.
I have a 2 channel blackvue dashcam setup in my wife’s motor, and can honestly say it manages all lighting challenges extremely well. I checked it when I first fitted it just to see if reviews were correct, but it picks out registrations in very bright winter sunlight, and seems to manage oncoming traffic on unlit roads in the middle of the night just as brilliantly. I really must get around to fitting one to my own motor.

Ceramic...
It’s just a polish that uses the buzz word ceramic. Ive tried a few of them and some of the quick “ceramic” sprays just out of interest, and most can’t even outlast a hand applied sealant or a good wax. it’ll be hard to beat a genuine ceramic coating once your used to it.

Alloy wheels - swapping OEM wheels
I have 19” summers and 18” winters. The difference in ride quality is just about noticeable. Id put my money into better suspension instead, as I find the factory fitted units to be terrible. I have DCC and it still thumps and bangs it’s way along most uneven surfaces. I have bilsteins on order but delivery keeps getting knocked back. The other item to address is the damned road noise. Some sound deadening in the boot, doors and probably wheel arches would stop the suspension and road noise from seeming as harsh as it is.
