Throaty noise on low throttle
@erindad I believe some models have a noise maker? I think that is correct, but it can be turned down or even off. The dealer seems to think that its not a common problem. He seems to be dragging his feet a little. This is typical of Skoda main stealers.

Mibbae aye, mibbae nay. Even if I was going to DIM, you can and should get properly matched paint from a decent body shop.

the truth about electric cars
@domhnall @Dieselgate - I've had to do a significant diversion as described literally once in 40 years, when I didn't fill up before leaving, and came off route into an area that was suffering a power cut so had to drive more off route miles than anticipated to reach fuel pumps with electric power. Dom, do you see the common factor between filling ICE and Scalextric cars here?

the truth about electric cars
Not an issue; I was making a statement that rural areas can and do adapt to pay at pump as support for you.
-
the truth about electric cars
I can't comment, except that I used to live on Benbecula, where both filling stations had pay "at pump" facilities, which were well used and appreciated by the locals.

the truth about electric cars
Exactly; based on my old Xantia TDi, I could do (pure range) Weymouth to Uig (Skye) without refuelling, and taking one "comfort/food break" at Tebay North.

the truth about electric cars
Single data point; my Octavia was first registered in Glasgow, Scotland, but the first registered keeper was in Luton, Bedfordshire.

the truth about electric cars
The smallest things I've ever seen with a Hackney licence (taxi or private hire) are a Skoda Rapid (FWD) or a Toyota P(r)ious (and those only as Ubers). I've discounted vehicles run exclusively as "hospital ambulance cars" because they don't require hackney licences.

Speed Alert
@Saljia An eloquent testimony as to why you should never rely on so-called "driver aids" as anything more than a backup to "looking out the windows" and "knowing the law".
