Age of vRS owners

Recommended Posts

I will be new to Skoda ownership as I am taking delivery of a new Octavia VRS CR170 DSG in December. I'm 56

First new car was in 1976 aged 22, a Ford Escort Mk 2 RS Mexico

Current car is a Ford Focus ST 5 door mapped to 271hp. Part of the reason for changing is that I have found I do not use the performance very often, perhaps old age is catching up with me

I did however have a great trip to the Nurburgring last year and did 30 laps of the 'Ring

Welcome to the wrinklies club!

You suggest you're switching as you don't use the performance of the ST - I'd suggest that the CR170 has more day to day usable performance with its shed loads of torque; enjoy. :D

I'm 33 and a vRS owner.

Started off owning "old" cars.

Then I went through owning two brand new cars - a 2000 Renault Megane (which I loved) and then a 2004 Peugeot 307 (which wasn't so nice).

When it was time for the Pug to go I decided against going for brand new again.

Looked at the 2-2.5 year old vehicles and got my January 2007 vRS.

Hi there

I bought my new vRS TFSI wagon this year. I am 53 and love driving. It is not the dearest car I have owned by any means, but it is the best in terms of serving my current needs. I love the quality, the driving experience, features (particularly for the price), perfomance, roominess and fuel economy. My kids really love it too.

Skoda is a new brand for Australia, so almost nobody gets it - except those who drive it!

For the first time ever, I will probably replace it with a car of the same brand.

Cheers

Im 31

Bought mine brand new when i was 29 mainly because i wanted Performance & Practicality. Plus i liked the look of the car and when i did a bit of research the tuning potential (and fuel consumption - yes i know you don't buy a performance car for consumption but when the cars your comparing all average low 20's and the vRS averaged mid 30's it was a no-brainer) was what swung it for me.

But im getting there and my plans will defo take me waaaay over ;):D

Carl:thumbup:

Bar the tuning that's very similar to me. Got it 2yr ago at 30 because I actually liked the look of the car in Race Blue, it was affordable to buy and run. In fact it's not any more expensive to run than a slow large engined family car.

  • 2 months later...

Got my vrs pd in race blue(argueablly the best colour) new in july 2007 at the ripe old age of 34 best thing I ever did. This was my first ever brand new car, took me about 18 months to convince the other half that a skoda was the way to go she had the badge snobery going on and when I finally got her into a show room she couldn't belive how good they actually were and now she loves her vrs and doesnt want to part with it. :wonder:

2 kids, 1 4 year old, 1 11month old & needed more space for longer trips.

Currently drive Golf GTI (MK5) & VX220 both owned from new...will be keeping both so will do a Golf vrs VRS write up when the Octy arrives....although it will be Petrol vrs CRD.

Previous cars

Saab 96 (about 4!)

205 GTI (1.9..fantastic car!)

Rover 420 GSI Sport Turbo (limited edition...most went to cops...very...very...quick!) total Q car :o

Bought the VRS March 2009 age 29 now 30..Speaking of insurance i was getting some online quotes today for the octy, and i just lmao at one of the quotes i got, ready for it here goes £11359.00 How can you quote that high for a 30 yr old male with a clean driving record,i had to look 3 times just to make sure i was reading it properly,i never even got quoted anything that high for the Impreza. No thanks i will stay with the insurance i got...Anyhow the Octy rs can say so far one of the best cars i have owned,it's just a nice car to drive... :)

31, as of a few days ago lol. i think I'm the epitome of what Skoda imagine the vRS should appeal to - married, 1 baby, need a biggish boot, had fairly quick cars before so want something faairly 'brisk', like the VFM and all round goodness of the vRS - makes the perfect family car for me :)

36 at moment. Needed a car that was cheaper per month than my A3, decided that the vRS was the one, then looked elsewhere to see if anyone else can offer the same type of car for the money.

Could not find one so the vRS was the one. Was an easy choice in the end.

Looked at the mkii vRS back when i got my A3, decided then that the money was better spent on that. Has a beautiful dash, is quick and has quality in abundance. Will miss it. That said, i'd of still got the vRS this time round. Massive boot, looks great and has lots of kit.

At 33 the vRS is one of the biggest and slowest cars I've owned, in my mid 20's I was banging around in a fire breathing rally car!

Similar to above, my Octy VRS has the job of towing the race car, although the VRS has a faster top end speed, it cannot out accelerate the race car which is only 1300cc.
