Playing car snap in a busy car park with the kids:

Rules, cars must be identical, eg 2 Ford Focus hatch in same colour, and age/series; so matching a 2001 Focus and 2008 Focus is not allowed, hatch and estate not allowed, silver and grey not allowed etc

My four year old girl kicked off with identical two black 1 series convertibles with roofs open and red leather seats-very observant!

One point for each to be first to spot, three points if you spot a triple match-I got three white Fiesta STs.

A dull few minutes waiting for my wife shopping transformed into great fun, with those minutes flying by....a great game for kids and adults in traffic jams too.

On our way over to Brighton to see my Nephew off for his placement and start of his career as a chef.

But what made my day was heading east on the A27 was dozens of the Mongol Rally'ers:

Had no idea, it just happened we timed it right - looking it up it looks like they launched from Goodwood today.  Fiesta's, Micra's, Polo's, a Beetle, early Panda's, might've seen an air cooled Skoda, at least one 2CV and a cracking little moss green FIAT 128.

It was a joy to watch 'em all going by and I wish them the best of fun and a great time   B)

SWMBO was in York meeting her pal for the weekend.

She brought me back a couple of pork pies from the Ye Olde Butcher in the shambles.

The best pork pies I've ever had by a massive stretch. There in my bag waiting for lunch, yum.

Actually I'm not sure I can hold out that long.

And with an on topic follow up I can confirm they are heavenly.

Getting my broken exhaust manifold off and welded back together. Now just to fit it before I have an operation on my hand on Wednesday. Happy days (so far)

Taking the whole family (Poles flew in) to one of the top seafood restaurants (Scottish Islands) and having a free-for-all so my young kids could search the menus and special boards and try whatever they wanted.

Cue astonishing food and seeing my four and seven year olds having huge fun grappling with huge langoustines, Croig lobster, squat lobster etc and loving the beautifully cooked and seasoned pollock, mackerel and the truly sensational fish soup, all with homemade breads and salads.

I watch with abject horror my lad's mates who just eat crisps and beans and love the fact our kids love adventuring with food and trying any new thing they can.

Stunning food in a breathtaking location with all the family=joy.

Going home.

We have worked so hard on our modest house to get it how we love it, that whenever we return from holiday or anywhere else, it is just bliss to be in our own house with our own things, set up the way we want it.

Love travelling, absolutely adore coming home!

Getting free coffee and croissant from Pret because I was the first person to say " good morning " to the server.

Says a lot for City workers....

At the Safari Park at the weekend, s******ing along with the Other Dads when a couple of tortoises started to get it on.

Why is it doing that Dad?

Why is it making those noises?

Why doesn't the bottom one try to get away?

Many many poor quality barely disguised answers from Dads, much tutting from Mums and shuffling along of kids.

My own sprog now now thinks there is a two headed, 6 legged double decker tortoise at the park.

Probably NSFW -

Wee man started school today.

Scary stuff, doesn't seem that long since we brought him home from the hospital.

He quite liked it which was good.

Don't think it's quite settled in that he's probably there for the next 13yr.

Spent 5 hours driving around the country to collect exam results for our daughter. Went to her college to collect them only to be told that they came in at 10.00 this morning and went straight off to the other campus 20 miles away. I was less than polite when the feckless cow told me, and the wife had to explain why as we'd traveled 40 miles to be told they'd gone to a college our daughter didn't even attend!

Rocked up at the other campus at 12.30pm (where there was a sign outside saying exam results could be collected between 9.00am and 12.00 noon) and I was told to stay in the car while they went in to see if they could get them. :x

Got her results which unfortunately were not as good as we'd hoped, and then had to go to her new college and try and get her onto her next course. Spent 3 hours there going round in circles speaking to various people further and further up the line until we finally got to speak to someone who could make an executive decision and he changed the rules to allow her to enroll. Now I know it's not much, but after years of health problems and misdiagnosis of said problems, doctors and specialists mis-prescribing drugs for a condition she didn't have and other such **** ups, it's a big step forwards. I hope she's up to the challenge of the new course.

Just had a call back from BT regarding a complaint I made.  My contract with them was supposed to end this month but when I rang up to discuss it 12 days ago I was told it didn't end until next February as I had changed it.  I ended up speaking to two different women who seemed unable to accept that the email I had from BT that said it ended this month meant anything at all!  One of them even went and spoke to a Manger who said they had to go with what was on their system and I was in contract until next February.  I reminded them that the email they sent me was on their system but they would not budge.

I think the second women expected me to accept that and seemed surprised to hear me say I wished to make a formal complaint.

Back to tonight's call from one of their team.  This lady was unable to read the email that was on their system but could once I forwarded my copy back to her.  She was also unable to listen to the recorded conversation of a call to them last February when I was told that my contract would remain at 18 months from the initial start date and would end this month.  She did however concede that I was right and they were wrong.  She then went away to find me a better deal and did by some considerable margin and in fact better than I can get elsewhere both financially and content wise.

So not happy to have to complain in order to get what I had but happy with the result and what a refreshing change to speak to someone in customer services who has an ounce of common sense.
