Sasha’s Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Earlier in this thread, there is discussion on 'Air Care' with mention of setting it to default to ON as well as using HEPA filters. Is it an option in settings to change the default for Air Care on/off?

My Mk III Octavia Estate seems to accumulate an incredible amount of dust, more so than I remember previous cars of the same model.

I'm wondering if Air Care could help reduce this by filtering cabin air?

However, I'd be keen to get an idea of how much cabin air is recirculated. If you have four people in the car (and they're all breathing) there is the risk of accumulating a lot of moisture.

Will my local Skoda franchise be familiar with options for HEPA filtration?

Has the issue of dust come up elsewhere in other threads that anyone has noticed?

I can’t say I’ve noticed this on my car, if you have a car that has AirCare, try testing how it goes with it on or off. I’m not sure exactly what parameters the air quality sensor is looking for.

(I hope this does not sound patronising) firstly wow, hats off to you for all the OEM+ mods and doing it all yourself.  especially as you've proved Skoda wrong!

Can I ask how you go about researching the different mods, where do you get the part numbers from, manuals ? coding ? I guess some comes with experience but what are your basic starting points ?

as an example, I would like to add rear oem usb's in the back (I could use the boot 12v but would like the OEM look, looking online I've not found anything about this.

any pointers gratefully received.

(sorry to divert from the great thread)

Access to part numbers comes from ETKA via this link to the parts catalogue but this link cuts off at 2016

As for what’s possible, research from sources everywhere is key. That’s all there is to it. The fitting of some stuff is trial and error or experience if nobody has been here before.

The Aircare default is not available as a setting, it's only configurable using vcds cable. So far, it seems like the bio filter is doing the work, rather than the 'Aircare'.

For moisture, putting a small bottle of baking soda might be more effective.

Long time lurker, just rediscovered this forum and found this topic, reading through as we speak. Page 44 now :) Registered here many years ago, but just now have I got a Skoda since last week. Might start a topic because I've got some questions of my own.

Anyway, nice work Sasha!

Update on the boot lid... it lives!!!!!!

I’ve had to bodge a strut and replace the lock and that’s what cured it. All sorted :)

Welcome to the club I don't know why I waited so long to get one. Wife's Karoq now seems very 19th Century.:hi:

Hi Sasha.

Congrats on the boot lid opening!

I noticed when you pressed the button it looks like you have led indicators?
If so which ones did you get?

Congratulations on that, seems like it was quite a project.

When is  the new car arriving?

I say that as you don't seem like the person to sit around doing nothing in your spare time, and following all the mods you have carried out, i can't think of anything left for you to do?

PS Someone is going to get an awesome car when you finally decide to move on.

In about 2 years as this one is paid for and we’re saving for another house so this one is staying for a while. There is still more to do, but nothing this major again I don’t think.

I was wondering if you have a copy of the wiring diagram you used for the new wiring for the mirror motor?

Picked up a motor, but now need to add the extra wiring to the door controller.

I didn’t have one per say, as I didn’t have to modify my wiring but this is what I have found

It’s all clipped, once you get the panel off there is a clip on top and one underneath the USB, insert thin tools into the gap and remove.

Copied you Sasha and just collected my gravel rash RS6 replica alloys silver powder coated. Thanks for the idea and they look great.

Look great! I need mine doing again, job was crap last time so 12 months in and the lacquer is peeling. Excuse to change them to something else locked and loaded 😂

Hi Sasha,

Without ut going back through all the pages, do you still have a link to the paddle extensions?

Boot mod looks good.

@SashaGrace - just a quick question, how do you find the mobile signal booster?

I expect there are plenty of rubbish signal places in Wales to test it! Basically, I've changed from having a dash mounted cradle to putting my phone in the centre console which seems to have massively impacted my mobile signal so I'm tempted to retrofit the booster.

The seller I used doesn’t stock them anymore sadly.

It’s never seemed to work on my car, the wiring plug is likely damaged as it constantly scans with a connection fault. My signal on EE is pretty decent compared to Vodafone. One day I’ll have a look at the connection to see if I can pinpoint the fault.

Well I've ordered all the parts needed so give it a few weeks (cables from China) and I'll report back ;)

Brave man 😂

Hey ! Me again, when you swapped you lower dash climate controls to the newer shiny type, did you code them ? I swapped mine to the same functions from a 2018 octavia and worked from the get go no coding. I was scanning the car today with a friends VCDS and got 2 errors, I think may be related to the climate controls ... not sure tho as they work 100% ...

"Relay for lower heater output" also higher heater input.

Cant upload photo as its saying to large, cant edit it on phone
