Are the Superb paddles the same shape and size across the VAG group then? If so there are loads of options out there.

not sure they will fit. Quick search of amazon using my car filter doesn't throw up these are anything particularly exciting

I found a couple for VW, someone asked if they fitted a 19 plate Superb, seller answered no. It will come donw to steering wheel part number. The paddles on my superb are not the same as the leon, and different again from a Gold R

Where did you get them from? I'd like to do the same though I guess I need to find somewhere in Europe / UK.

I've had these for 2 yrs plus.

They're solid/strong and fun & easy to use.

No, it's not the same paddles across the VAG group.

There r different ones, mixed n matched across different  models

Thanks both, that’s what I assumed but the link to VW ones made me hope I was wrong. There’s an abundance of choice for VW and Audi’s but much less for the Superb.

There's a separate thread on this for the superb. Seems that anything for golf gti mk5 or 6 will fit. I've seen a YouTube fitting some from T Carbon that fit perfectly so they're out there!

edit: bought these in the end, they look like they will fit anyway, hopefully....

For the record, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174335114660 links to the exact same listing without all the tracking BS attached.

Driver seat memory stopped working at some point, OBDEleven scan threw up basic setting missing from all driver seat motors. Ran basic settings routine via OBDEleven and all working again.

Thanks, I stand corrected! Don't know much about this unit as its rare in skoda land, so don't know how durable it is? I guess overkill for the kodiaq for sure.

Overkill - no, when u consider the Kodiaq RS TDi, which was Bi-turbo, was producing 240 Hp, 500 Nm.

The Kodiaq RS TSi only gets the DQ381 gearbox.

took it out and filled it. Looks like the summer tyres improve things nicely; 6,0l/100 with the higher limits is pretty darned good. I'd expect 5 with the winter limits but a consistent 6 with winter tyres & limits and summer tyres & limits is something I can absolutely live with.

Mine goes in for 4 x alloy wheel refurb tomorrow (19" Trinity). I'm changing from diamond cut Anthracite to powder coated gloss black & no diamond cut to match the paintwork (nearly). Should get it back on Friday this week🤞. I'll post some pics then.

I think improvement is due to ambient temperature increase at 1st rank before winter/summer tyres themselves. ;)

Today I took out the interior lighbulbs and put a piece of warming filter inside. Absolutely when they're off but they now give warm light, just like the old incandescent bulbs. It's a matter of taste, of course, warm lighing just creates a better atmosphere than the cold light from modern LED. In the last picture you can see the difference between the front and the back, before I modified those too. Super happy with it!

Fitting wireless CarPlay

I've found the setup in the Superb for hooking my phone up to Smart Link (CarPlay) less than perfect. With a normal USB cable connected i have to fiddle with the phone and plug behind the gear stick and then there's cables sticking out and the cover doesn't really close. It also makes the wireless charging pad i have in the car redundant.

I saw that there were some dongle based wireless CarPlay options out there so I hunted down one i though might neatly fit into the space. The idea was to be able to simply place my phone into the wireless charging space, close the lid on the console and drive away. I found a few dongles that come in a small black square case that have an angular pattern on the front. There's a few brands out there that appear to use the same unit. I chose "Pairr" but there is also "Totree" and others. This is not intended to be an endorsement for these units and they are not perfect by any stretch but they appeared to fit the space nicely.

This is a generic photo of the space...

My intention was to remove the lighter plug, get a low profile USB cable and place the dongle over the flat face of the sockets on the right.

The USB cable was easy enough to find on Ali Express (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001952745125.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.21ef1802lllfSP)

image.png.f1dd32b4acacd1790a5de1c7cdbc03e3.png

The dongle (https://www.pairr.co/) arrived and was as small as i'd hoped. However one of the issues with it is that the USB-C plug hole is deeply recessed so I really needed a USB cable with a straight plug rather than a right angle plug. I forced the bugger in and hoped for the best. I placed some stick on velcro patches to the back of the dongle and placed it onto the surface of the plugs as planned.

Pretty pleased with the result. The dongle fits neatly in the space, the lid closes and the dongle is functioning as promised.

Interestingly the dongle powers up as soon as the USB port is powered when the car is unlocked so by the time i've sat down in the seat and started the car, CarPlay is on the screen instantly with no startup screen wait.

Minor Problems:

One problem I've noted is that the MIB2.5 Columbus will sometimes forget or not see the USB port being used. This was solved by resetting the unit by holding the power button down

Another drawback is that because the unit communicates over the phones wifi signal the resonse on the screen is slightly delayed. This means there is a split second delay on the swiping between CarPlay screens, although the button commands are pretty much instant.

Overall pretty happy so far and my cable sadness is all gone!

Nice work Frankenfurter - yours is the 1st post I’ve read criticising the useless Superb ‘phone storage - I couldn’t believe how awkward and tight the oem facility proved to be.
I’ve opted for a USB charger in the arm rest box fed from a ignition switched source on the fuse box with Apple Play via Bluetooth………

Thanks! That's probably a much better solution. Yeah it's a little nuts they tried to fit so much in there behind the gear stick but then leave the massive centre box pretty much empty. I had to hunt around for a super slim case so my iPhone 13 would fit into the charging cradle too. I'm looking to do something similar with a USB port in the centre console box but just for power.

The only thing I'm not happy with is the rusty inner hubs & calipers. Which means I might have to have a go at them myself. Other than that I think the wheels look pretty good & give the car a meaner look.

Hmmmm. Each to their own Colin, but they’re not my cup of tea.

This week I decided to attack a small shudder when braking, likely caused by slight disc warping (the back was doing it for a little while but did not bother me that much; then I started getting some steering vibration after a wheel service where they left some nuts super loose other super tight.... sad...). All 4 discs were almost new, despite the 73k Km, so I went with resurfacing. Took out rears and had them machined at a specialist shop, all back with no problems. Yesterday did the fronts and them nuts holding the calliper carriers were tight as hell, but my trusty breaker bar did it's job. Reassembled last night (all nuts torqued to spec) and took it for a spin. Other than some initial scraping noise from the pads against the rougher metal, it seems good. The pads were also almost like new, so I just ran them a couple of times over fine sandpaper and refitted them. Let's see how it drives after they bed in completely. I hope I don't have problems in the wheel hubs themselves in the front, the idiocy done when tightening those wheels was nothing short of epic.

I like the standard look although I do think gloss black suits the car and are an improvement, a wheel refurbisher told me diamond cut alloys that are not painted always deteriorate quickly.
