What have you done to your Superb III today?

What’s the benefits to these? Any reduced wind noise or anything?

TBO I have no idea too🤪. Potential some mileage gain. Maybe reduce some wind noise. Maybe stable the rear end a bit on the highway. And maybe do nothing. I haven't driven the car after installing them.

I do it because 1. easy to install, finished two within half an hour; 2. Some MK7 Golf owners on the Golf forum posted some good feedback; 3. relative inexpensive, two covers plus all the clips cost less than 10 iceberg lettuce here in Australia😂. So, why not 🤣

drove to the office and back and on the way home it was almost dark! Reflections from the new driving light at between 800 and 1000m :) that's not too shabby. Pics when it's *actually* dark again, which will probably take another 3-4 weeks.

Not today but last Thursday I took a chance on a pedal box from the forums here that was originally sold for a 1.4 petrol engine.

I figured that at the price I negotiated I'd easy enough get my money back if it didn't work.

Anyway, fast forward to today and it's here when I got in from work.  In original box and everything. Glanced at the instructions and tossed them aside and fitted it in a few minutes.

This thing has multiple settings on a dial, E+, E, N, S, S+, R, R+ (having not bothered reading instructions, I assume that's economy, normal, sport and race)

Took it for a test drive on E, no change. N felt no different. Set it to S and the difference was notable, much more reactive to a throttle press.

R & R+, well, it doesn't half take off like a scalded cat at the lights! :D

I'd been toying with the idea of a remap but I'll tell you what, bang for buck this is probably one of the best modifications I've ever done (especially at the price I paid!)

I bought one of these for my wife's Karoq 1.5 DSG to cure the biblical right foot take off lag it had. I suspect this problem was the result of the fix they had to do to cure the jerky engine the 1.5's had a while ago. Like you I detected no real difference at the bottom end settings but there was a noticeable improvement further up the scale. Now it responds far more quickly & allows you to go for the gaps in traffic at roundabouts which before was always a bit hit & miss. I was thinking about fitting one to my Superb but so far I have resisted.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bought a pollen filter, air filter, and NGK spark plugs for my 280 from opieoils.

Compared to dealer fitted prices, that would save me a whopping 100quid ish doing it myself. Now I hope those coil packs come off nicely when doing it and don't break...

You haven’t noticed the initial throttle lag has gone in all settling, where nowt happens when depressing the pedal for the first CM or so?  This has completely disappeared on our 280, even on “E” (which makes it accelerate like a Morris 1300 automatic!).
Maybe it’s a different DBW unit to those in the 1.4/5 units?

Spent £114,71 for 57.1 litres of petrol at Peterborough Services.

Ouch!

Hang on, £114.71 / 57.1 = £2.008 per litre. That's nuts & I presume that's just for 95RON & nothing more exotic.

I couldn't get more than £99 of 99RON Momentum into my tank at Tesco the other day which is the financial limit for the Pay at the Pump option. Fuel gauge was reading just under full afterwards but I don't remember how many litres went in, probably around 45. There's supposed to be an enquiry into why pump prices aren't reflecting the drop in crude oil prices. Same old story, quick to go up & slow to come down.

After filling up at Tesco I read that the big Supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Morrisons & Sainsbury's) were amongst the slowest to drop their fuel prices. Independent garages were among the quickest to drop their prices.

According to Confussed.com the lowest price for fuel in my area right now is £169.9/litre at BP Collingtree near Northampton. That would be a 30mile round trip to fill up for me so that's not going to happen. Next cheapest is a Tesco 5 miles away @£171.9 getting to which I would pass at least 4 other petrol stations. I guess these would be 95RON E10 prices & not my normal diet of 99RON E5 which costs more.

I'm just thankful that I'm not doing stupid mileages any more otherwise the costs would be prohibitive & I would have to seriously consider changing cars or perhaps dropping down to a 1 car household - which may be on the cards anyway. There again we could be paying more for our Gas & electric next year than the fuel for our cars!!

The world has truly gone mad & there's some serious profiteering going on here which I hope comes back to bite those responsible in the arse big time.

Shell V-Power. I just can't help myself.

The motorway services are always top price.

E+N settings seem no different that stock to me. S is my settled upon setting with occasional travels to R+ just for the grin factor :D

Weird. Just to double-check, I’ve just switched it out of circuit and went for a drive and the initial depression lag where nothing happens has definitely gone in all settings. It was bloody awful to drive it again stock! 😂

Not today, but picked up last night from dealer with a new boot cover, clock spring and steering rack. Thankfully all done before the warranty ran out.

Easy entry function enabled with my VCDS today (incl. tick box on the Columbus, to keep the possibility to disable it if needed).

It was more for fun than a need, since I'm only weighing 140lb and 6' tall... 😄

Changed out the pollen filter. Reminded of how faffy it is the get the clips off the plastic cover. On mine, the left hand side clip is obscured by dangling cables which have to be moved out the way.

New Bosch pollen filter (same part number as old) has less number of pleats compared to the old one too.

Strange. I didn't pay attention to this point, when I changed mine 3000 km ago... 🤔

Interesting. How did you get the tick on the Columbus?

I believe it’s an adaptation in Baps - car menus

called something like seat_menu or drivers_seat

sorry don’t have my admap to hand currently

Baps?? As in burger or other baps? 😳

Most probably only a nickname for me... 😆

Found in one of the numerous pages from this topic:

Please, don't ask me which one! 😄

However, here is the mod:

Easy entry activation:

36 - Seat Adjustment Drivers Side > 07 Coding

Byte 3 > Bit 1 - Easy entry : Set it to 1. Note : I didn't have the boxes to tick, thus I had to modify the Byte manually. 00000000 to 00000010 in my case (⚠️ bit numbering starts on the right, form 0. First bit on the left is #7)

Byte 9 > Bit 6 - Easy Entry front over MMI : Set it to 1. (same note as above)

Final adaptation to enable/disable the Easy entry function from the Columbus:

5F - Information-electric > 10 Adaptation

Select channel "ENG 122227_ENG 117556 Car Function adaptation - Gen2 Menu_display_seat_configuration" : Select it from 'not active' to 'Active'.

Tick "Soft reset" before clicking on "Do it!" button to reboot the Columbus.

That's it.

Now you'll find the tick box in the following menus / submenus: CAR > Settings > Seats ;)

Enjoy...

Brilliant, thanks Bap33. 👍🏻

Finally got a nice day today, washed and used Turtle wax graphene stuff for the first time, very easy to apply with no residue after buffing off.

Also dressed the tyres for the first time in 12 months.

pleased with the Turtle wax products.
