The Dealership must surely be able to find a Skoda Approved Warranty that allows for non Factory approved Hardware Components or Engine Management,

as the Skoda / VW warranties exclude that.. 

 

They maybe make exceptions for themselves since they never carried out the modifications / remapping.

Well whoever buys it will be getting an excellent £450 remap that has made a NEDC 39.8mpg combined figure achieve an actual 39.90mpg over 9,000 miles and 360bhp and 514nm is always going to be better for overtaking compared to 283bhp and 369nm (standard).;)

Do you really think a main dealer is interested in selling such a modified car and the consequences to their liability? If they decide to retail it, they will likely just reflash the ecu back to standard, and say nothing. No main dealer would market this as is as the power and torque exceeds the manufacturers design limit of the DSG, Haldex etc. All warranty is void on engine and transmission, full stop. To hide it from Skoda would be fraud.

 

There is more to this sudden change of heart by Shy that meets the eye. We will probably never know the full story.

I can not actually answer your question on an EV the size of a Superb for much cheapness for someone doing hardly any miles. 

A business user that can take advantage of the great benefits from the Government via HMRC from running an EV can save a lot of money and lease a comfy new car rather than doing the business driving in a 8 year old car.

 A Mk2 Superb isn't a big car anymore, it's just a bit longer than the average parking space. The width over the extended mirrors is only 2009 mm, which is 18 mm less than our Golfs, as for modern comparable cars, from 2031 mm for a Superb 3 to 2127 mm for a VW Arteon.  It's not possible to fit anything wider than my Superb into my 1965 garage, so that's one good reason to hang onto the old girl. 

Fitting a wall-mounted charger is not possible in the limited space + most ev's seem to have their charging flaps on the nearside wing & that would be totally inaccessible.

As to charging points i think the majority of EV's on the road in the UK are at the front of the car, as some of the new ones are, then there are ones with points on ether front wing or ether rear quarter.

It is a PITA actually with some regardless of where they are other than at the front if the available public chargers does not suit your charge port location.

 

I do not have a Home Charge Point so just sit leave the car charging for up to an hour 1 mile from home when it needs it if i am not on a trip.

I can go for a bike ride and get a txt when the car is charged or someone needs on the charger.

 

I have a home 3 pin lead for using when the old weather hits to have the car ice / frost free ready to go.

As the dealer has been informed of the modifications they must be under some obligation to pass that information to subsequent customers, their warranty department etc. If it sold as is, then it follows the customer must inform his insurance company. Too complicated for a dealer to worry about I think....

I imagine the car will go off to Auction or maybe just to WBAC or some Trader with Car Supermarkets, maybe a specialist will want it.

If the Salesperson knows of the non standard / factory options they surely got a value for it before doing the deal.   ie Called someone and already has a buyer for it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the car just people speculating as usual and I defy anyone to test drive it and not want to buy it unless they are not wanting the hatch rather than the estate or Black doesn't appeal to them. This is why I put xman on my ignore list because he's talking bull as usual.:punch:

Never raced or rallied so all good.  The issue is the past or present modifications that might be an issue for a Dealership Warranty or a Warranty Claim.

 

There were Skoda Dealers that used to be REVO Dealers and did remaps and said they did not invalidate the Warranty, they lied.

They just Guaranteed their work / product and Skoda / VW did not recognise what they has said and the Manufactures Warranty was Void on the Engine or Drivetrain if there was a claim.

Black is not my favorite colour, but.....

I did that with my first car, advertised on here and sold it very reasonably priced, reduced to allow for replacement of the air con comoressor. , not before I got some idiotic omments and frankly wished I hadn't bothered. The buyer test drove it and commented it was in better nick than other Mk2 VRS 2 years younger. Far easier to chop in at a dealership with no worries about payment

I do see your point, selling to a private buyer could be a PITA.

All I can state is that I wouldn't waste my time looking for a car if I couldn't pay for it, & transferring cash between any UK bank shouldn't be a problem.

Offer the dealer £22,000 and bag yourself a bargain.

You’d have to buy it trade from the dealer, so I’d be going in several thousand less than that, seeing as it’s not a forecourt retail vehicle. 
Not running it down either. It’s just the way it works.

By trade-in on Saturday just over 14,300 miles.

Well this is a turn up for the books!

Can't really understand why you would want to get rid of the car after doing the stage 1 and singing its praises over the vast pages of this thread for fuel economy and performance when required.

As others have said it feels like theres something you're not telling us and also I can't believe any main dealer is going to a: let a car of this spec  and rarity go straight to auction and b: sell it as is remapped with all the mentioned concerns about warranty issues etc.

My previous car (traded in) was restored back to standard from the bluefin and has been sold to someone now (tax, mot and insured) but I bet the dealer probably applied the dieselgate update to it at the very least which would have overwritten the map even if I had left it on there.

Private sale I can understand declaring it's been modified and letting any potential buyer choose if they want it that way but a car of this age is gonna go through the forecourt (unlike my old 10 year old 60 plater) for sure so they will want to protect their integrity and avoid any unneccessary warranty issues by making sure it has the latest offical skoda software versions on it IMHO....

The only warranty work required on my Skoda's in the last 17 years has been to replace a faulty clutch on a standard manual 2014 Superb with the 138bhp diesel engine at 1 year old and 11,000 miles and faulty key fobs and ironically a software update on my wife's new 2018 Karoq 1.5TSi manual. Both cars completely standard yet produced with faulty components replaced by Skoda at their expense. Never ever had an issue with a remapped car. Too many people worry about the wrong things on cars. More damage is done by people who lease a vehicle for 2 years and never check the oil level, tyre pressures etc and problems inherited by the 2nd owner. Don't care who buys this car because there is nothing wrong with it and anyone is free to test drive it after Saturday and try and find fault.

Can’t think it will make it to auction. It’s probably been underwritten by either a supermarket as stated above or by a non franchised dealer. A main dealer would have to allow for billable’s such as caliper refurbishment, to return them to factory finish, checking for contamination of paint on seals etc. The aftermarket rims would have to be replaced with genuine wheels to mitigate liability with Chinese copies cracking and causing an accident (worst case always assumed). This would again be billable to the vehicle. The module can be reflashed to factory standard, but the fact it has been mapped means disclosing this to future owner. This removes the engine and drivetrain from the remainder of the manufacturers warranty. Therefore they can’t offer it as a used approved Skoda vehicle. Therefore it’s not a main dealer forecourt retail car. 
nothing wrong with it whatsoever, it’s just the way the sector works.

Yes. Better than rusty metal painted IMO. 

 

I must have been dreaming though - you can't be trading this car. 

I may be wrong but I think Shy has hinted at the real reason for the sudden and unexpected change.

 

I just hope he doesnt start another thread, "Living with a 150ps diesel Superb SEL with adblue", that, with all that "First Word part x" residential care home stuff would be too much.

 

He should perhaps instead start a Youtube or Instagram channel and make £££ driving around for free, a sort of Mrs Hinch of the Skoda Superb world. Who knows, he make even make national tv !!! Fortunately I don't watch TV.
