I downloaded and unzipped the files directly to the main directory of the USB. Before i did formatet it to FAT32.

But in the menu to choose wich USB-Port to use, the car doesnt recognise it.

I had to an USB-C to A adapter.

Any ideas whats the issue?

Thanks

Might be a stupid question, but is the adapter properly seated in the USB-C port? I've had a couple of instances where the cable I use for Android Auto wasn't all the way in and AA would either not work at all or just sporadically. Needs a good push downwards.

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

I bought a 16gb usb c drive for £10 or £12, just for this purpose.

I'll add the Kingston DataTraveler 70 128GB to the list of working ones. Got it for 11€, preformatted to FAT32 out of the box. Quite a bargain if you can live with the slow random iops and write speed.

thanks for the info. Actually its just an direct adapter from c to a. no hub. Maybe ill buy one usb-c stick today anyway as i might need it for other purposes too.

Plug in the USB before you start the ignition. Report back if it works.

What a most excellent team effort in helping out the forum members.

A reminder to those with 1941 to send in some feedback after a few days and weeks to see how stable this really is 🤝

Hi varoom,
first of all congratulations for your contribution, this is exactly the spirit of the forums!
When I had the megane IV I did great things with this way of working.

Can you please send me the download link for 1941?

Best Regards.

@Roby83 I will send this along now

Ok ... just installed without any issue with the USB adapter but it took time, around 35 minutes, consider the use of a battery charger while the update is running.

My feedback: all good! Driven the car a few times since the update and all seems fine. Update took me about 20 mins. Many thanks @varooom👍🏻

Just collected from dealer. RF module replaced and new 1941 software on it. Hope this works as i’m on the cusp of submitting a rejection letter to the dealer to hand the car back…

No crashes on the way home…

Just doing it now, the bloody system is driving me crazy today 7 restarts with multiple faults and I can't put up with it anymore.

Parking fault

Hill start fault

Maneuver fault

Reversing camera frozen.

You couldn't wait for 20th of July then, good luck... 🤞

Booked in july 12, occasional reeboots and reverse camera freeze and flickers. Holding my thumbs...  Thanks all for sharing.

Not with the increasing number of faults that were flagging up, all went smoothly, all of the items flagged up as OK.

Waited a while tapped resume and after about 60s all came back online, just got one error which I hope is temporary 🤞

That's regarding servicing see pic. 20230627_152600.thumb.jpg.24e42a177928581c1b94dc21c2f0a0cd.jpg

Yes, dealer service booked for next week, thanks for all the info here. On 1896 now, reboots almost daily.

Yes, sending now

Thanks again @varooomfor the file. Gonna do update tonight. One last question for you guys that did it - engine on or just the ignition on? Or nothing on? Cuz some of you worried about battery dying.

I just left the ignition on, turned the headlights off, but forgot to turn the air con fan off, so was praying 🙏 .

Got a good battery so it's fine, just waiting to see what the software update that it started immediately afterwards is going to do. 😬

Got a servicing error and manuals are missing, hopefully they will get an update and clear themselves. But everything else seems to be working fine, haven't tested with my phone & AA yet though.

@TheWanderer I suspect after the car has gone into a deep sleep mode, that these final items will be fixed and updated.

A few mins with the engine on will replace your battery State of Charge (might be best to do this now before bed)

I'll do that in a little while do a trip out to the A3 and back, so it gets a bit of a clearout too.

Lets go! Now really worried about battery 😄 but obdeleven showed good health so lets hope ✌️

My two cents:

My MK4 MY22 (December 2022) Octavia only had the random reboots of infotainment and no other issues (1898 Software, H58 Hardware versions)

Soi decided to proceed with the update on my own and I successfully installed it just few mins ago in).

The whole process took 5mins for MCU, 5mins for CPU and around 3-4mins for the rest. I turned off start/stop, turned on ignition and waited till it finished. I used a usb-c to usb-a hub since i did not have a type-c memory stick.

Tomorrow i will test drive it and post my results :)

Thanks everyone for tips and tricks and especially @varoom for sharing the update.
