  2. The Excise Duty on fuel has been a brilliant tax collecting measure. It is the most efficient tax in relation to what is collected and what is spent collecting. VAT is still 20% on EVs like all cars so is significant revenue stream as is VAT on hydrocarbon fuel. In real terms the level of Excise Duty currently is much less than it was a decade or decade and a half ago. 3p a mile on EVs and 1.5p on hybrids will not fill the Excise hole by my reckoning.
  3. With 30% of new car sales as EV and then plug in and'self charging' hybrids making up over half of new car sales and electric cars on average driving more than ICE the transition is not too bad on course i would say. UK always going to have a problem due to driving on the left and getting new cars 6 months or so later. With fuel prices climbing ever higher, even Trump says oil prices not coming down until at least after the November Mid Terms. Some even better and cheap EVs coming on to UK market in the next few weeks making the differential in running cost even wider suggesting to those who are cost contious rather than stubbornly anti EV pro ICE will see how much money they can save and spend on other things. The very cheap PCPs on some Stellantis cars and the Dacia Spring and small Renaults plus Leapmotor, BYD Dolphin must be tempting to the cost counting drivers.
  4. The Fine Print mentions about the self harm the UK has and is continuing to do it self with the Zero Emission mandate and is a clear example of follow the money principle.
  5. Hello Like many, I'm currently cursed with near daily OTA updates that don't seem to be doing anything, despite reporting a successful install. One thing I did notice yesterday however was that the shop has been removed from the in-car menu system, meaning there is no longer a way to purchase Cubic Telecom eSIM data plans or renew Care Connect & Infotainment Online via the car itself. Anyone else seeing this?
  6. Austin 7 replied to BlueDun's topic in Skoda Yeti
Rubber mounted exhaust support, as far as I can see.
  7. You have to Share the Picture Here which Software train is installed
  8. Hi. Is anyone using an ottocast mini cube? I got one recently and it will only work sometimes. Sometimes it will work after a bit but mostly it stays trying to connect with the car. Comes up usb connection failed then trys again and again. Sometimes it will connect straight away. Don't know if it's the car, the ottocast or my phone. Just wondering if anyone had similar issues
  9. seanw started following Ottocast issues
  10. Light Goods and HGV,s will be fuelling up with DERV for many a year. as will many millions of diesel cars, and petrol cars will be getting fuelled up for a decade or 2. As to BEV,s, plenty people that can offroad park and charge off the road are still not buying or leasing BEV,s. The wish and dream of Politicians or Interested parties is just not happening at the pace they would like.
  11. Oil companies gave such power. They do pay quite a lot of tax and collect huge amounts too. Also can threaten moving their listing from London to elsewhere. Only consumers can really punish oil companies to sell at a fairer price. Dont fill up completely I use to do, just fill up 90% or 75%. When their sales fall they will react and liwet their prices a bit. The extra VAT the government collect on these high prices is very signicant and they will welcome in these crazy times of decades high bonds and gilts which is hiking their borrowing. Diesel and petrol sellers in the UK know they only have a few years of selling significant volumes of diesel and then soon after that selling petrol so making hay when the sun shines. Crocodile tears perhaps from government and in a tough situation so pleased to see big VAT revenue on fuel sales even if increasingly losing out on excise duties which peaked at £25B per annum but no rapidly falling to £20B and a steeping slope downwards due to more BEVs and Hybrids.

  15. Price-gouging. Three Monkeys Government / Government Agency. Supposedly the Competitions and Markets Authority found no evidence of that by UK Fuel Retailers. Or 'Widespread Price Gouging in the UK'. Obviously they are incompetent and not fit for purpose. I have never understood why only one Competitions & markets Authority, or as the were called Competitions Commission. They have a monopoly on things.
  16. Thanks. I can get the first three stages, no problem. When I get to Software Update, it offers the current, then a second choice. I am nervous of the 'poke and hope' approach, so where do I go next and what card should be in the SD (1?) slot? Can I also ask what you mean by ''then picture"?
  17. Toddington services near Lutton i gather. Profiteering !
  18. Here, they shove the price up instantly without filling their tanks
  19. There are still places at that price but maybe they have not had to fill their tanks this week.
  20. Last week I paid £1.80
  21. It is more than that oop north at some BP, Shell, Esso, Texaco etc. PS. I would rather have a litre of go go juice than a cup of Costa. I do like where charging an EV gets you a free hot drink. But then the electricity is very expensive.
  22. £2.12 a litre, where is that?
  23. Hi, I still didn't find any solution. No idea wthat's the problem. It looks like it's global problem, pleae have a look at: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1r3cznd/psa_pixel_10_vwaudiskodaseat_mib3_android_auto_is/
  24. Fancy a coffee and maybe a few litres of fuel ?
  25. Yeah, I have chatted to him now that I have been elucidated and we think he should stick to using CarPlay to show current maps on the screen.
  26. Picture of actual Software train. Press Long Menü, Service Menü Open, Then Software Update, then picture
