  1. Past hour
  2. Partly explains the congestion on the motorways, having to keep to 60 in the 2nd lane to overtake Lorries but maintain your range? if you're that worried stay behind them.
  3. Hi all, What is the signs of a failed PCV valve.. On tick over the car is a bit lumpy, Taking the oil filer cap off when the engine is running, There is a vacuum pulling the filler cap back down and the engine revs speed up. Don't know if this is a sign or not? Thanks..
  4. Dug out my solar filter only to find it smashed 🤦
  5. Stonekeeper started following It's arrived!
  6. Interesting video by Dave Takes It On, where he tests ignoring the system on a Tesla which is telling him that he needs a charging stop to complete the planned trip. Then the car suddenly tells him (which he knew it would) that if he were to keep below 50mph, he should be able to make the trip and arrive with about -3% of range left. So, is it another way to slow down travel in the interests of road safety? The same argument that Wales used when dropping 30mph roads down to 20mph? Similar to what our government are planning to do on rural roads?
  7. @lol-lol you posted before about new pylons. These are not what are planned to run up and down and across Scotland. The High Energy Transmission network upgrades in Scotland are being planned and carried out by 2 private organisations not the National Grid. Also not a Public Organisation.
  8. Why muck about, just change the whole car! Older ones were better.
  9. Quick question: have you actually seen any evidence of this spacing and animals / crops using the space created? I personally have not; there are loads of solar farms near me, and they all seem to cram in as many panels into a field as they can, along with all the controllers and grid connections. I'm puzzled just as to how having solar farms is protecting the waterways. The farmers are saying that they are being encouraged to take land out of production, and this is leading to ever more importation of food crops that they could be growing. Isn't that just shifting the CO₂ problem onto other countries when they produce extra food for the UK and also the same with the road transportation of those foods to the docks, shipping them across the seas, and then further transportation here in the UK?
  10. Did you ever figure out the real source for this sound?
  11. Probably to do with embedding of the nut's mating face (and that of the balljoint if textured) being different on the two types of wishbone, together with the fact that when a fastener is tensioned by torque alone, a very high proportion of that torque is used in overcoming friction, rather than actually extending the screw. There's a lot of techy stuff about pre-tensioning threaded fasteners, and the general trend towards using a lower torque followed by an angle tightening stage is mostly about reducing the variability impact of this friction.
  12. The new T pylons are some much less obtrusive. Shorter, squat. Saw a row of them from the M5 which are in place to take power from Hinkley C to the high voltage national grid. If tol many complaints then bury them like in Snowdonia. I gather Belgium is burying electricity lines as a national policy now.
  13. Loads of stupid radio phone in,s in Scotland over pylons and the £250 a year for the some. People seem to not understand about the substations and objections. Michael Shanks MP is a waste of space IMHO. Secretary of State for Energy Security. & Chris Stark Climate Expert is a plonker IMO. He spins some real crackers. Him and others are so keen for new nuclear in Scotland. Some how missing the point that there will still be those peed off about mega pylons. There is no Labour or Tory UK Prime Minister that will be able to force new nuclear on Scotland it needs to be the will of the people. So ask them if they want Nuclear power stations in Scotland. They might vote yes. But ask everyone who pays taxes in Scotland not just those on the voters roll.
  14. It's not giving up it is help protecting both the land and the waterways. Just leave gaps between the solar arrays and crops will grow better and animals have some. shade. Over waterways the panels vastly reduce evaporation and preserve water for the dry periods. The power generated can be used to help with the irrigation needed to counter act climate change in part being brought about by the increased levels of CO2 furthering the Greenhouse effect we are increasingly suffering from.
  15. Today
  16. Always the worry and especially during half times on big football matches which is where Dinorwig would be in standby to go from tickler to full 1.8 GW in about 20 seconds. Something powerstations with either gad or steam turbines cannot do due to thermal stresses. Hopefully the Gren Glen hydro will be on stream early in the next decade. If not brownout could become a thing.
  17. well I`m going to admit defeat on this one. Can`t see any way round it unless Skoda do the decent thing and re evaluate doing map upgrades for older models.
  18. I apologise for the fact that this subject has likely been covered numerous times, but I'll ask anyway. My 2018 Superb estate has an Amundsen MIB2 unit by all accounts (touchscreen with 2 rotating knobs) and I have entered my VIN number into the Skoda portal for the latest maps. The download has 1 folder called Maps and a labelled md5sum.txt file. According to the manual on the portal, there should be 2 folders - MiB1 / MiB2 and an info2.txt file. How do I go about updating the SD card with just a Maps folder or is my system too old to update now? Thanks in advance.
  19. MrSVM1 started following Amundsen MIB2 update
  20. Rear wheel bearing scrubbed off the magnetic reluctor ring?
  21. Thats brilliant - thank you. I'll pass that on to my dad and see if it helps.
  22. The spec for the three nuts that secure the ball joint to lower control arm is 60Nm if the arm is cast steel, but 100Nm is the arm is steel sheet. Can anyone explain this? 100Nm seems like a crazy torque for a M10 thread. I have the pressed sheet steel control arms.
  23. So i should replace whole system 😂 Ive replaced heater matrix core three times now, im seeking good method of flushing it at least, then i would clean the core and install it again.
  24. The problem with flushing heater matrix or radiator is that there are many small pathways in parallel once you go a little way insde. Pushing water through unless at very high pressure will always tend to choose the least blocked pathways to flow through. So crud can remain in the more blocked ones only to emerge later in different temperature/pressure conditions. Replacement should work though!
  25. When I say greyed out, I mean to say that the buttons are not green indicating they are active. When they are green you can press them to do something, when they are not you cannot. I`m going to try disabling the AUX setting and see if that makes any difference.
  26. Would you please list your AA settings here? I have the exact same issue now, plug the phone in and minimum 50% of the time it instantly disconnects AA and only offers up MirrorLink. The only fix I have is to hold down the infotainment power button to do a reset. Annoyingly MirrorLink is long since discontinued on mobile phones, so Skoda should really issue an update to remove it entirely.
  27. No not yet. I had a small operation and could not walk for 2 weeks. Now I'm back on feet again. I'll give it a shot. It feels like it's mounted pretty firmly though. Like if I'm missing something.
