Yes. The portal ones are for people who choose not to subscribe to online map updates and are free twice a year. Traditional for Skoda and VW. The online connected services ones are monthly. You got the October one there 26.10. It would be a down grade if you managed to get that June one installed. It wont let you downgrade. People do periodically loose the ability to get the over the air in car updates for whatever reason. Outside Europe connect service are not rolled out so like the old days map updates can only be done via USB if the car is enabled for them. Another story. In the current economic climate some people discontinue their connect services contract but with the app integration of all things between phone and car, penny pinching they loose the ability to do those extra things remotely like turn on the heating in an EV etc. Firmware updates are distributed free whether you have a connected service contract or not but you must be logged into the car as the primary user for that to take place. Then it informs you that there is one to install.
  4. So I have the latest update even before the one on the Skoda portal?
  5. I've tried to second-guess myself on the driving style, trying to fit the available data into a theory, but it's very much guesswork, and it doesn't explain the HUGE variation in MPG, given a very similar route driven at a similar pace, traffic permitting. (I'm just driving too and from work, after all.)
  6. Hi 2006 Fabia vRS Had the master cylinder replaced a couple of weeks ago. Brakes much improved. However, a couple of times since the brakes have stuck on. Apply brakes for example on approach to roundabout. Go to accelerate away from roundabout and car is held back. When you take your foot off the accelerator it feels like the brakes are on. Pulled over when safe and you could smell hot brakes. All 4 wheels were hot so brakes definitely sticking. Turned off, waited a few minutes then all ok again. It's happened 3 times now. Car going back to garage tomorrow but mechanic has said he's not come across this before. We've used same garage for several years now. Any ideas? Mark

  10. My 2008 fabia was fitted with a single mass flywheel. I was shocked when they looked up my reg and told me it was a solid flywheel. Had the clutch replaced first time and no issues, now for my second clutch and I'm getting bad vibrations when taking off in first gear or when I reverse. Now the clutch was replaced it's looking like I need to replace the flywheel. Will this fix the problem or not big? Do i replace it with a dual mass or stick with the single mass. All comes down to money. Anyone Else have this issue. Thanks.

  14. Not a confirmed fix, but when only one door handle misbehaves on KESSY it's usually worth looking at that door's handle sensor/antenna and its connector (water ingress is a common cause) rather than the key. A garage with VCDS/ODIS can check the KESSY antennas for faults on that side. Fresh key batteries are already a good first step, so I'd focus on the door side.
  15. Thanks - the update installed OK but did not solve the problem - still no villages. What is the very latest firmware - I understand 0253 was the last 'official' update.
  16. Thanks. Autodoc where way out so it looks like I'll have to get the OEM units. It looks like my reference is Gas strut: 3V582755201S Dimensions: 634mm x 145mm
  17. Hi. Not sure if it was my original thread re Autodoc and their misleading Superb struts. My Superb is a 2020 1.5tsi hatchback petrol. I got my struts from SkodaParts.com with part reference 3V5 827 552. Cost about 68 Euros each + 9.50 Euros delivery. Came in about 5 or 6 days. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3v5827552-gas-spring-for-the-trunk-lid-sedan-skoda-45985.html Hope that is of some help

  22. Yes, this is still confusing me. I would expect some residual oil if it "drained away". Normally oil is difficult to disperse, but this sensor was totally dry. It led me to think it isn't operated directly by oil at all, but by a plunger inside the head. I've thought some more about this since my last post, and I think it's worth doing as above suggestion, i.e. unscrewing it and running the engine - at the weekend, I'm busy working until then ... Luckily I can use a different car.

  24. Fair one. Such a shame when someone’s incompetence causes so much hassle!
  25. No time, no inclination. I need a car to do my job, so i need to buy a replacement to keep me mobile.
  26. Last speaker swapped out this evening. I thought I was doing it preventatively but one tap from the hammer on the punch to knock out the centre of a pop rivet and the magnet fell off the speaker! Hopefully these will last a good while now but I have a spare just in case and have got it to less than 30 minutes to swap them out. Even in the dark with a head torch!

  28. Not worth writing off and buying back to repair?
  29. Tell replied to RodDuggan's topic in Skoda Karoq
That's saying 26.10 so you have an update ahead of the file one so it won't degrade. That's an over the air one.
  30. Probably... Trouble is insurance will have worked on new parts and you'd be looking at about half that just for the bonnet... It's a rip off if you can't choose where it gets repaired and how and I'm sure they prefer to write them off as it's cheaper for them. Means decent cars get written off for small amounts of damage.
