the truth about electric cars
Here in South Ayrshire the Council Tariff of 50 pence for 7/11 Kw chargers or 70 Pence for 22 / 50 chargers is a Minimum Charge of £5. When i had the Mini i might only need £3.50 worth but was charged £5. Some places are £2 minimum charge, like Stirling, or it can be maybe £1.75 pence for the first kWh. Then a lower tariff after, say 55- 70 pence.

I don't think there is a minimum. I have plugged in it starts and when i come back it had stopped after 1kw and i have had to start again.

the truth about electric cars
It wouldn't surprise me. They used the recorded data that the Jag had stored to get a conviction.

https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-CB07D968-612A-4FAB-977D-CD01C69464D0.html I wonder if the car records how low you let it go for Battery warranty use..

Flickering head lights
keeping them in. All the lights are now LED and without taking things apart there is no way of seeing, especially with the headlights inside the globes. MOT testers are not allowed to dismantle stuff to inspect things anway, so as long as they point in the right direction and are the right colour they won't know!

Kamiq arrived at last! 2027 model...
I have no idea what makes this Kamiq a 2027 model, the only thing I can find is the addition of front parking sensors. Maybe cornering lights? It's a specced up SE L slightly rather than choose the Monte Carlo ( I don't like sports seats or panoramic roof etc). So spare wheel, Winter Pack, one extra years warranty and the 18" Vega Aero wheels + two years free servicing. I had a mid range dashcam fitted. My wife's 2015 Fabia went to my Granddaughter - still in excellent condition with low mileage. My previous fears were the filament wires in the heated windscreen - which ARE visible but very faint as others correctly told me - I had assumed when ordering that windscreens had moved on and was expecting the clear copper conductive type screen as in my 2022 Karoq. No big deal. I hadn't spotted the wheels were 45 aspect ratio, expecting 50 like the Karoq. Again not a problem - not too much of a bumpy ride. Oh and the bingy-bongs that we all have to endure now are quiet and unobtrusive unlike some cars I have been in recently. I can turn off the lane assist when im driving, my wife enjoys wrestling so she's happy and it's her car. Allegedly . All in all a great car and we are happy with the choice. But I would not have chosen white 😁

the truth about electric cars
Today 150 miles done in 2 3/4 hours. Half Motorway & with 20 miles range left. from a £3.50 Home charge. Charging now @ 55 pence a kWh so it will be £25 to get home with enough miles range for any diversions & hopefully no need to charge. Likely slower going home with traffic & time of day. No plan for keeping the speed down below the speed limits, or drafting or switching off the AC. Smallish battery and if even just 5% battery left and 10 miles to go i would stop and put in some charge as anything can happen in that 10 or so miles.

Amundsen MIB2 update
You're looking at the wrong instructions at a guess. The Columbus has MIB1/MIB2 folders, the Amundsen doesn't. Just follow these instructions: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/491705-how-to-update-maps-on-mib2-or-mib25-amundsen/

Photography Thread
How annoying. I had a look on line to see if I could get one. No chance, all sold out. I consoled myself with the fact it’s only a partial eclipse and we’ll be bombarded with shots on. Social media anyhow.

But maybe typical of most UK drivers??

the truth about electric cars
Personally I find Tpylons more visually intrusive due to the solid thicker columns, as opposed to traditional lattice pylons. Also the height they are at is more related to conductor type and not the pylon itself

the truth about electric cars
But by the same token, it is true with ICE cars, but there is always the chance the actual estimation is correct. There will always be tolerances and margins in all of these things. Surely the sensible thing to do is to accept what the car is telling you in order to do your very best not to get stranded. The sane thing to do is to react correctly in the same way was you would do if a engine warning light came on?

But it was not a gamble as he could have gone many miles beyond zero no bother. Push it to the extreme, sort of well past 20 miles past 0% SoC then he might have risked conking out but a few odd miles, no worries. Tesla model 3, in BJ's run until it stops did show model 3 did somewhat quit rather abruptly which showed Teslas, like him, are not quite a clever as some might think. LFP chemisty does seem to act a bit differently to NMC lithium.

the truth about electric cars
No @lol-lol but an Uncle with a haulage company with a few trucks and another whos business was buiding and construction with dozens of vans and lorries. Places to go, work and get home again. But then no Motorways north of Perth and few dual carraigeways back in the day.

His trip is entirely on the motorway, maybe he doesn't gamble with £100 fine and three penalty points

the truth about electric cars
I tend to find just cruising with the trucks, safe distance but bit of aero assist so around the 56 mph they are doing. Would not do 50 mph and mess up the trucks by forcing them to pass. False economy, better to do 56 in their slip stream. You don't work 25 years in logistics, and have an uncle who owned/ ran 50 Artics, and have lots of sympathy for truckers. I like trucking and I like to truck.

Flickering head lights
Are you keeping them in for MOT or going to risk it, saying that technically replacing Xenon right LED isn’t against test criteria

the truth about electric cars
Is this purely Motorways in England with EV drivers that are on a go slow because too tight to pay public charging? @lol-lol did the same in ICE vehicles to hypermile. I did sometimes, but i would use a fast Coach that apparently had no max speed limits and would be happy to exceed even 70 mph. Winter night time i did draft hgv,s in my Corsa E. But twice was stopped by police because tgey were high value whiskey lorries anx the drivers called thd police. ABERDEEN bypass.
