  1. Keeping one's moat stocked with swans might seem ostentatious but it means you're always prepared if the queen comes for dinner.
  2. One from Sunday evening, taken at Knole Park.
  3. I did an intensive overhaul yesterday, since I've achieved 45000 km (~28000 mi) / 2.5 years : Engine oil (+ oil filter) change Fuel filter change Cabin filter change Brake fluid change Haldex oil change + Haldex pump strainer cleaning. When I see how dirty the strainer was, the maintenance manual is a complete non sense, not to include strainer cleaning upon oil change! I let you make your own opinion: And here the pump housing: Eeeerk... 🤮
  4. @newbie69 I plan to write a tutorial with much details. Would that help? 😁 I have to say that some points are not very detailed indeed. Juste a single example: I've spent more thant 45mn to try to understand how to remove this $%µ@&# pump connector, whereas simply removing the 2 fixing screws of the Haldex control unit, enable you to disconnect the pump in less than 2mn... Not said/written anywhere... 🙄
  5. So the fabia now has it's first event arranged with the new set up, Standing 1/4 mile and Standing 1 mile racing at Elvington next weekend Had a think about what tyres to take the ZZR's have a slightly higher profile and dug out the ratios to double check them, i think in the standing mile i'd be hoping for 140mph The top speeds at 5000rpm Top speeds at 5400RPM where the rev limiter is set to So prep started and have now mixed up 20 litres of Water/Meth and a tunnel run yesterday

hey guys. 1st post hope everyone is well. My car didnt come with a reverse camera, but if the boot button was working then i would have left it as is. But as it wasnt working i had to buy it and thought id go and fit the camera. Anyway i have 2 questions. Which wires did you connect your power source on the wiper motor? Thers brown which is negative and the other is green red is that ok to use for power? Now my other question is my video cables have a red wire comming of it on both ends. I take it as that is for power? And do they need to be used? Thanks
  7. Stupidly this morning I wasn't concentrating at the fuel station. I picked up the wrong vpower pump at the shell garage and put 20 quids worth of diesel in. I should have known something was wrong when refueling was slow. Naively I thought I had broken the filler neck when shoving the pipe in. I should have relooked at the vpower sticker on the pump. My paranoia over the evap canister got the better of me. I could have sworn I did relook at the pump. I obviously didn't see the diesel sign. What a tool. I paid for the fuel and drove four miles. I already had 80 miles worth of petrol in the car to start with. I went about my business and got back in the car about an hour later. It wouldn't start. I pushed the button to start it, and it started, then cut out, with a message on the dash saying 'please start the car manually'. I tried one more time, and it did the same again. I left it 5 minutes, went on google and I couldn't find the answer. So I had 2 more attempts, and then the penny dropped. I looked at the fuel receipt on the passenger seat. Clear as day - Shell vpower diesel. That reminds me - I need a swear box for the car. I called the AA and they sent out the Fuel Doctor. 2 hours I had to wait. He shoved a flexible metal tube down the fuel filler neck and siphoned off all the diesel. He disconnected the big pipe to the airbox, and he disconnected the fuel line to the hpfp and connected that to a tall plastic container/pump, so he could draw all the fuel out. Once all the diesel had been sucked from the fuel tank, he tipped some petrol in from a jerry can. He squirted some easy start in the air filter tube and then got in the car, pressing the start button a few times to prime the fuel pumps. I could see fuel being pushed out into the container. The fuel line was reconnected to the hpfp and he made 2 attempts to start the car. The first one immediately cut out, but the 2nd attempt ran for a few seconds before cutting out. I got in the car and tried to start it, whilst he was squirting easy start in the air filter pipe. Eventually it ran smoothly, after i'd upped the revs. The air filter pipework was put back together again, and the doctor sat in my car for a few minutes giving it some revs. There was a little black smoke coming out of the exhaust to start with, but this eventually went completely. 200 quid lighter, I got my car back and drove home without issue. I think I've been lucky. And that's what the doctor said too. I hope someone finds this info useful, because when I needed it, I couldn't find anything on the 'net relating to an idiot putting diesel in his petrol skoda. And it was all fixed with the simplest of tools. I feel like I've had my pants pulled down and been slapped.
  8. I got the Rotare 17 inch. They are Michelin Primacy 4. Not entire sure on the dimensions. Basically same as these
  9. Found the time to do a "clean" and strong 1/4 mile run on my local drag strip and as i suspected, time dropped a bit further. Pretty mental to think this time is achievable by a Skoda which is not even a full out performance variant, with just a remap and an intake while on fully stock exhaust...
  10. Have it just over three weeks. love it, absolutely love it. 👍
  11. The solder joints inside the instrument cluster crack sometimes causing weird faults. Check the video below, while it's aimed towards the immobiliser its the exact same repair. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpu7z2BWeXE
  12. i got angry hornets in my wheel wells too : https://streamable.com/i4uxx even fancy Ignites aren't spared : https://streamable.com/6u6cy
  13. Probably a cracked solder joint at the cluster connector then.
  14. That's a real acceleration of the business. Several companies seem to be taking advantage of this COVID19 "crisis" to implement redundancies or changes to employee T&Cs. However it seems odd to make any major business change that is not guaranteed to save/make money at this time, even if he does make the more upmarket part of the business look like they're underperforming. I'd speculate there's more (or a very different story) to this than is being reported. If I frame the reported narrative bluntly as "This guy's doubled sales! Let's get rid of him!", it sounds ridiculous.
  15. He doubled sales from 650,000 to 1,300,000 from 2010 to 2020.
  16. Funnily enough I was talking about this with the wife earlier and saying I'm glad I bought one of "his" cars. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/skoda-boss-bernhard-maier-leave-firm
  17. Bit of an update. Just finished fitting the Alloy manifold kit from Darkside developments. Took about 2.5 hours. cost £120 and a couple of skinned knuckles. looks like I caught it just in time as there are 4 of the flaps missing, and the egr was blocked nearly solid. not driven it yet but will let you know. thanks for all the help and advice.
  18. Thank you. It's 12 months old, and I will be adding a spare wheel kit as an extra, thanks for the idea. Also the reversible boot mat, which seems like a good idea and the steel sill plates which I really like on my old Mondeo and do save the sills from her majesty clunking in and out of the car carelessly. I didn't know the 2WD 190 had the IRS, I thought that was only the 4x4 version which had it, so that's nice to hear.
  19. Stunning pics of a great car in a beautiful country. Looks like NZ has the maximum number of RS owners here on the forum. Skoda does have a soft corner for NZ in my view . I checked out the NZ site, and the RS comes fully speced except for pano roof & towbar for 72K NZ$ which is almost 10K CHF cheaper than Switzerland 🤑. And at that price, the swiss/Euro models need to further upgrade to Colombus, 3rd zone clim control, sleep pack , child pack, park assist etc. So the actual difference could be around > 15K CHF. Enjoy you lucky New Zealenders ..😎
  20. sounds like a sensor issue to me (not being able to tell if it's open / closed) - but best take it to the dealer to investigate.
  21. Yes, there is. When I bought the car it had ECE 2018 maps. I've updated the maps on the SD card to ECE 2020/21 as I thought this might help, but unfortunately it didn't I've been trying this, but I'm either not getting the right timeing, or there is something wrong with my nav unit.
  22. If your placing on order for a new one you would do well to order the spare wheel rather than the useless foam/compressor kit that is standard and you may thank yourself for spending the extra £155 if you get a puncture. If the SEL comes with 17" alloys and 225/45R17 tyres that will give a better ride than optional 18" alloys with 225/40R18 tyres which will offer little extra grip but provide more chance of kerbing. Finally should you need the urge for more speed AmD in Essex will flash the ECU with a custom remap taking that engine to around 250bhp and with the quick shifting 7 speed DSG will offer similar performance to a standard Vrs245 which I owned for 29,000 miles which produced 249bhp on their rolling road when standard before remapping. Also remembered the 190 does have IRS for a better ride compared to lower powered torsion rear beam models.
  23. Hi To correct my earlier post, from studying the parts diagram it would seem that item 17 has an electrical feed and three hose ports. It is variously described as "Pressure Converter", "Turbo Solenoid Valve" or "Boost Control Valve". This will convey an electrically variable blend of vacuum or filtered air at atmospheric pressure to the turbo wastegate. So I think the pipe in question simply feeds air at atmospheric pressure to this Solenoid valve, and this air is picked off downstream of the main air filter to make sure it's clean. As the pipe isn't under pressure, a reliable repair should be easier.
  24. Looks like I'm clear of replacing that monster, installed the new sensor and all seems well. Oil was literally pouring out of the end of the old sensor. New coolant tank is waiting at my local sorting office, if only they were open for more than 2 hours.... Looks like my fab will be kicking for a while longer
  25. First very small mod. Added a set of Heko wind deflectors.
  26. Owner of a new-to-me, ex-motability '68 Octavia FL 1.5TSi DSG SE Estate in Quartz Grey, having found myself not enjoying the '19 Fabia that preceded it. Car has done 6,700 only so must have only done little drives to the shops, so drives sweet. Engine is nice and has enough punch for me and gearbox is baby-bum smooth. Such lazy driving compared to a 95PS Manual Fabia! Only thing is to sort out Auto lights (surprised they don't come as standard) and chuck some LED interior lights in (for now)... Edit: Oh, and a full size spare...

It’s become bit of a ritual every year unfortunately insurance company put up its premium ,customer shops around online, either changes company’s or goes back to original to get them to match others, the yeti was with LV under £200 for Fully comp , 2 named drivers And a protected policy I’m happy some people don’t shop around because by them paying high it allows me to get a better price likewise with house ins ,car breakdown cover, etc etc I’m probably paying less per year Now than 15 years ago when not bothering to compare.

  30. Day 5 for us so far this year zac. Lucky all last week, 7 days bluebird in a row.
  31. Reverse angle shyVRS245 😉
  32. Dull race. Good work from Stroll. Albon not bad. 2 point swing for fastest lap could prove vital...as Hamilton says, he has previously lost the title by only 1 point (although I remain convinced it was fixed by the FIA so... whatever Lewis)
  33. Could there be a link up into the forum software to have a "Tree" icon next to your username perhaps? Like next to the "Freedom" moniker.
  34. No. The camera for HBA in attached to the rear view mirror.

..me too paying about £200?..in fact paying less than that for 2 cars?
  36. I'm happy with my 2018 1.4Tsi manual SE Estate owned from new. I drive 2017 Scoda Scouts at work and the ride and cabin noise are better in the Superb. Of course mine is on 215/55 R17 tyres which may help. The suspension feels a bit softer than the average car. It isn't a sports car but is good over poor surfaces. I find it as comfortable and quiet at motorway speeds as anything else I've driven. Other than rattling brake pads sorted under warranty nothing has gone wrong with the car. Enjoying the huge boot and huge rear seat legroom when carrying passengers. Compared to my previous 2012 Octavia Hatch it is a much better car. More refined and plenty of nice to For a petrol car of it's size the mpg is brilliant. Touches like the telescopic strut holding up the bonnet when checking oil. The door umbrellas, rear boot light that is also a torch. Variable boot floor. Fold flat front passenger seat. Etc etc. Really comfortable for long drives. I drove 720 miles from Glasgow to north Wales and back in a day without any aches and pains and on one tank of fuel. For a petrol car of it's size the mpg is brilliant. 52mpg on brisk A road driving from Glasgow to the highlands and back. High 40s at 75mph on mainly motorway trips. Tank filled tonight - 41mpg overall for 462 miles mixed local driving, longest trip 20 miles at a time with many 5-10 miles or shorter journeys. I got mine for just over £18k new with around £1000 of options. Can't see anything near it for value for money. Perhaps not so much now with prices rises. Flaws? At my trim level - SE - the seat fabrics are basic. Air con when cooling is just adequate and no more. But heh! I live in Scotland, how often do I need to cool the car? Maybe I'm just easy to please but my Superb is the best car I have owned and is as good an all round load lugger and long distance driving car as anything I have driven.
  37. Better to have learned the lesson putting diesel in a petrol engine and not the other way around especially on a common rail diesel.
  38. Reassuring to know that a job like that can be done at the roadside, instead of having to be towed to a garage. Money aside, you were pretty lucky alright.
  39. I tried to cover every single detail in this video.
  40. As promised, I found salon with Ambition package so I will do my best to review it as well.
  41. Hatch model has finally arrived to Croatia. Hers quick look of Style model. More detail video review in salon coming soon.

I’ve drove 100’s of miles single track roads and whether it be on mainland or island I end up seeing little houses or villages in the middle of nowhere and the same though goes through my mind of how life is sustainable in such rural parts. Recently visited the Isle of Mull for a weekend, Absolutely stunning and a nature watchers dream. Walked 12 miles to find a 30 million year old fossilised tree and two waterfalls, Worth it once you get this view -

@MickA I hope you have had the chance to use the A93, or the B974 Fettercairn / Cairn o' Mount, and the A939 Lecht / Tomintoul routes, and by Grantown-on-Spey to the Moray Firth.
