  1. Thought I'd add a couple of pictures, only seems appropriate. I'm really over the moon with this piece of kit. Seem to be having some intermittent Android Auto issues but confident that is the AA software, not the car - the car is the mutts nutts (IMO) 😉
  2. On CP4LESS, Brembo pads for the Kodiaq are listed at the upper £70's mark and with the discount code, early £60's. That was the higher priced pads, BTW, Assuming you have the ability (You say you can do them), That £235 will buy the pads, new discs (On some models) a trolley jack, axle stands, a rewind tool for the calipers, wheel chocs, and a few beers after completing the task!
  3. Hi Folks! First thread here. A week ago I bought the new Skoda Octavia mk4. Lava blue, 1.5 TSI and 6 speed manual. So far so good. The ride quality is excellent. A HUGE difference, compared to the previous model. The materials, sound insulation, everything is top notch. So...220 miles (100 highway :D) and I have two complaints: - The Start/Stop system stopped working yesterday evening. - That stupid Skoda Connect thing, I cannot figure it out and I have an advanced degree in IT. So clearly they are doing something wrong. So this Start/Stop system - the system displays that there is an error. It was working fine till yesterday. I start the car, nothing. No warnings nothing. I get driving, and after it warms up, and I get to a traffic light instead of turning the car off - it says "Error Start/Stop system" and on the infotainment - Sorry, this feature is currently unavailble. So, planning to reach my dealer tomorrow. I have had this car for a week, and I have to call the dealer? That is a shaky start. Thank god I bought the extended 5 years warranty I have read the forum topics here. I went for a long drive, but nothing. It didn't fix it. The fuel consumption is excellent though. 43MPG city driving with the A/C on and without the S/S system though not so heavy traffic. With heavy traffic I managed 38MPG (35*C, A/C on, bumper to bumper and Start/Stop ...working )
  4. "The more things change, the more they stay the same" Well. almost. Heaving thoroughly enjoyed my 18+months ownership of a grey (anthracite) Octy2 2.0 tdi 4x4 estate, during which time I have looked with some interest at the Scout addons, I landed on another Octy2 2.0 tdi 4x4 estate (thanks Colin) which is in need of a bit of fettling but not too much. But it's a Scout! It needs a rear wheel bearing (includes hub with ABS sensor so a bit wincy on price) to be sorted Thursday, has a slightly ticky tappet (may need a camshaft at some point but easy enough) and comes with a full towbar already fitted. Oh, and it's also (officially) grey (metallic blue to you). It got a new battery today as the existing one was a bit feeble. The drive is a revelation. My prior Octy2 is no slug (140bhp) and handles well but the Scout does it all so much easier. Maybe it's the 17" wheels (vs 15s)? The car is immaculate, and a credit to its previous owner who had it from new. My grey one was functionally excellent but had suffered some peripheral tuning to every panel thanks to the previous owner's spouse. Hmmm. Most of it was touch-in paint but I have a spare rear bumper to fit as it's a bit "tuned" in places. Our daughter and son-in-law have decided to add the grey car to their existing Octy 1 estate (also from me) so it's staying in the family. I guess you can tell I'm pleased Oh, and the Scout has been chipped to 180bhp. Anyone know where I can get some "FQ" letters in Skoda script for the tailgate badge?
  5. Thanks Rick. That was it. It is now sorted. This forum is fab. Kind regards, Sabine
  6. You should be able to adjust the tone and volume in the MFD setting menu. It might be that the volume has set to '0'. it happened on mine I think if you turn the radio down when you select reverse it can do this. It would help if you say which model and spec yeti you have got.
  7. Yeah because keeping your hands straight on the steering wheel and your right foot down for around 10 seconds is a fine art mastered only through years and years of experience
  8. Have you looked at them yourself? Sure they are not actually 85% remaining?
  9. New Forge intercooler fitted. All I'll say is never again 🙄
  10. A cheeky one from this morning..
  11. i've got the same set of wind deflectors for almost 3 yrs now. really good and they slot nicely inside the window groves. no need for double sided tape on to the body work like other wind deflectors
  12. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a similar fault with their Kamiq. My Grandad purchased the car new from Hendy Skoda Bournemouth in May and it's been problematic from day one. On collection the vehicle had a deep scratch on the rear bumper but the main issue has been with the automatic gearbox. It is the 1.0tsi SEL and after a few days my grandad had fault codes on the media system saying there was a vehicle report, and the vehicle needed to be put in P and please report to the workshop. It would not let him lock the car. The vehicle was reviewed when they looked at the scratch and confirmed the gear selector was faulty so this was replaced. After a week or so my grandad had the same error code when he tried to park the vehicle, "vehicle not in P, please visit workshop." My Grandad then asked to reject the vehicle as it was faulty and their repair clearly had not worked. Fast forward a few weeks and many painful emails to Skoda Bournemouth, they have undertaken diagnostics and said that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. They attribute the issue to "driver error". The sales manager confirmed a recent technical services bulletin (TSB) was released that confirmed the vehicle needed to be shut down in a specific way. In their words: This fault code occurs when the driver puts the gearstick into neutral before switching the ignition off. In doing this the gearbox control module goes into sleep mode and then wont recognise the lever being moved into park. This then stops the car from locking. Skoda have a technical service bulletin relating to this issue which states the correct process according to the handbook. This is as follows; Keep brake pedal depressed Secure vehicle with parking brake Press button in the selector lever and set it to P position Turn off engine I know the above isn't hard, but my grandad is 80 years old and if he pulls up at some lights, or stops at the side of the road and wants to put the vehicle into neutral, he should be able to without causing some gearbox fault when he comes to parking the vehicle. This essentially renders the Neutral position unuseable! I believe the gearbox/TCU is faulty as i've driven many autos where you can put the selector in neutral when ever you see fit and there's no subsequent issues. Skoda Bournemouth have declined to accept his rejection saying there's nothing wrong with it and it's his driver error. The service from hendy skoda has been abysmal throughout and we're now left with what we feel is a faulty vehicle, but Skoda believe is perfectly fine. For a TSB to have been released i wondered if anyone else has heard of or experienced this issue as we're now looking to take matters further to have the rejection accepted as my Grandad doesn't want the car. Also i appreciate this is a skoda forum but based on my experience of speaking to VWFS, Skoda UK and Hendy Skoda, I would discourage anyone from using their services as no one takes ownership and we have been passed around so many different departments it is beyond a joke. No one seems to know how to handle a vehicle rejection and not once has anyone apologised to my Grandad or offered him a courtesy car while this was being investigated! Any help or experience anyone has is greatly appreciated.
  13. Change the limiter in vcds did a quick launch in it tonight. First time on full power still no traction till 3rd
  14. I've had my L&K 1.4 for 4 years and have had absolutely no problems with the sun roof, and no wheel corrosion. If I'm being picky the centre 'Skoda' wheel caps have white edges now but that happened on my previous Yeti and most others I've seen. The brown seats don't bother me in the slightest and all the extra bells and whistles make it a really nice car.
  15. @shyVRS245 - that is a fair assumption of dealerships as a whole. this is why I'll be going to my local indy for servicing now that the free ones are all used up.
  16. There's not much to it really. If you've already renewed the slave it can't be much else, unless there's something wrong with the actual clutch. Hope not though.
  17. The part number could well be 565 945 395 or 565 945 396 depending on whether it's left or right.
  18. That would be an absolute travesty if all that stuff got dumped - not now but maybe in 5 years time when spares get scarce To document, list and advertise all that stuff is no mean feat - then to sell and p+p it all is very time consuming The Fabia Mk1 is now at the stage where there is a big cull rate - even moderate repair is becoming uneconomic and this treasure trove could well be the saviour ! If you and a bunch of friends got together to help this chap out you would be doing a great service I saw this exact scenario happen 10 years ago with a fella who broke a load of Porsche 924/944s and lost his storage ! Ended up all the parts were just dumped and now it's left that all them parts are 5 times the price and worse condition! I just hope this dosen t happen here !

Thanks again for the info, the vin number check confirms the car was included/affected by the recall - I believe the car was in the extended warranty at this point - Skoda have said I need to get the car to them at my cost and then pay for a test to see if the issue is related / caused by the fault, they are also saying that the issue was only a software issue and would have only affected the performance and not been the cause of any damage/ malfunction of the gearbox.
  20. Good news. They figured out what the problem was but they did not share any information. They also said that they have the logs and if the problem appears again they will reach out to Skoda directly. The start/stop on the way back worked flawlessly. Since this was a software fix, I reckon some data is not calibrated correctly from the factory. Reading through this forum I can tell that a lot of parameters are taken into consideration that impact the performance of the S/S system. It took the service 2 hours to work it out and several test drives. So one thing that you can take out from this: - It is a software fix. They have a glitch from the factory. That is the downside when you get a brand new model. Hopefully this will be it and no more visits to the dealership.
  21. As I wrote earlier, I'd go with that excuse on an older RWD, manual car with weird power delivery but these cars really, my mother could match my own times in my car with a few basic instructions, they don't require any driver input apart from doing the run in the right conditions. I'll PM you just to try something out though... Lol, it's probably true! The power addiction is one of the dumbest types I have to admit, myself included, it's never enough, just a continuous money pit. Majority of owners I know with BT setups keep them for around 1.5 year more on average and then sell up and look for something else. The more extra bhp you add you are not covering a need any better, just create even worse temptation for more and more... But you see, since 2015 when I came across the first stage 3 setups of the 2.0 TSI and their incredible results for such a mildly tuned 2.0T, I was tempted by the tune-ability of these engines and i was set for getting a car with that engine and taking it to those levels at least once. I realized it didn't make sense on the FWD GTI Clubsport but this car is crying for more...
  22. I showed him my stage 1 dragy times when i got these bad times, asking for explanations. He said: to have good times you need the right conditions, let me use your car and I'll show you some interesting results. Now, I'm not a professional driver and surely others would do better, but no way that I could leave my car to someone to squeeze it as if it were in a videogame!! There is some problem with the gearbox, and we will have to fix it. But the engine map is well done, I can't say anything about it, the power delivery is smooth and constant. And the power is also there, when I had the opportunity to try it well, at 286 km / h it was still pushing. but I was afraid of damaging the engine so I slowed down. I think at the moment you have a really optimal configuration, with an excellent money to performance increase ratio. With every penny that you go to spend more you will necessarily go to lower that ratio. So, in my opinion, you do well to keep it as it is. And I can assure you that even with a stage3 you will get used to it quickly...
  23. I was agreeing with you, and assuming that the OP might not know that.
  24. Cheers, yes first thing I done was turned the air con on for 30 mins or so and no leaks 👍.
  25. Indeed. Someone on here recently made an arse of coding something using apps.
  26. Yes it's obvious something needs further optimization in your stage 3 map. It's not possible for any stage 1 to be quicker than your stage 3 in the quarter mile! even with a worse 0-100. Also, for its weight and power, the 100-200 time should be at least mid 8's, not 9.26" (correction based on the slope of that run) so yeah, I'd be asking some questions to my tuner. As you say though, I think currently mine is really as good as it can ever be for a stage 1 car, especially low down, the efficiency with which it hooks and accelerates compares to much stronger cars. It's probably 50% the REVO + TVS combo and another 50% the fact that historically, my modded cars were slightly slower than everybody else's with similar mods so maybe the tuning gods pitied me after all these years . To be any faster I would need to start spending BIG compared to what I've done so far and I'm really at a dilemma currently: In reality it's all the "fast" that I can really use (and even that rarely) but I somehow have got used to it and was already having thoughts of jumping to a bigger turbo. A few months back I was certain I would stop at this and maybe get a "dad's" sports coupe that can see 500bhp with just a remap and also start going back to my local track regularly, but it's too early for that car yet in my life for several reasons. Also, the car after the performance and wheel/suspension mods is such a better thing to drive and look at than stock it's almost impossible to fault it and replace it with something else that could offer a similar package and does not cost an extra 20K eur (yes it needs better brakes but I'm on it) so where does that leave me....
  27. Nah! Poor driver 😛🙂
  28. It should be very fast then because my Superb is only at stage 1 and it's bloody quick.
  29. Not had that smell in my car since I was a teenager !
  30. Sometimes a good cleaning can solve it as mud and debris can be collected and so sensor misreads.
  31. Took part in another VMAX200 event on 18th July 2020. Except for one run I was beaten every time but didn't mind as it was a fun day seeing what the car could do.
  32. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/463460-shark-performance-gone-who-now important that people know they are still around if people want their services @ Racingline. http://racingline.com
  33. Don't forget to take a backup of the coding before you use the app as they don't tell you what is being changed. Reverting would be difficult otherwise if you have issues.
  34. Like I said originally, my fiance is exactly the sort of person that feature is designed for. I showed her what I'd written and she agreed without hesitation. If I was installing it in my car I'd have just grounded it. It's sorted now, I wired the illumination wire to the head light switch so everything is as it should be now. Mammoth effort required to fit a third party head unit though, especially as I had to install a new aerial as the existing one wasn't DAB and run all the cabling through. She couldn't be happier with the result so it was totally worth it.
  35. Got sent this last night, Somebody's knocked videos of mine from youtube😄
  36. The same pipe on my Octavia comes off the side of the air filter housing, that had split and I simply wrapped some insulation tape around it, the engine control systems were not in the slightest bit changed when it was breathing unfitered air and when it was back to breathing filtered air. The function of that damper is to smooth out the pulsations present in the induction tract, anyone who has used an old school Gunson Carb-balancer on individual chokes of a DCOE carb will recall seeing the white indicator bouncing up and down like a demon, the damper is to stop the vacuum actuators doing the same thing, its probably just filled with foam or a labrinth.
  37. Found the time to do a "clean" and strong 1/4 mile run on my local drag strip and as i suspected, time dropped a bit further. Pretty mental to think this time is achievable by a Skoda which is not even a full out performance variant, with just a remap and an intake while on fully stock exhaust...
  38. Rather than them use Simply Clever perhaps they should make it Simply Not Clear.

Thanks man. Sorted all the questions for me. Ima finish it off. I ordered the rvc adaptor https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Rear-View-Camera-RVC-Audio-Stereo-Cable-Adapter-for-VW-Golf-VI-Jetta5-AC1331/362990388523?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225120%26meid%3D2897d9037e1143d4942b4a715d79ab62%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D171641862721%26itm%3D362990388523%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded%2FGeneric&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aec8333c9-cac9-11ea-a164-74dbd1807353|parentrq%3A6df944431730a16d364e2828fff5ce82|iid%3A1 so plug and play.
  40. @newbie69 I plan to write a tutorial with much details. Would that help? 😁 I have to say that some points are not very detailed indeed. Juste a single example: I've spent more thant 45mn to try to understand how to remove this $%µ@&# pump connector, whereas simply removing the 2 fixing screws of the Haldex control unit, enable you to disconnect the pump in less than 2mn... Not said/written anywhere... 🙄
  41. The bottom four including number 16 as Wino said were cracked so i re-flowed them thanks all
  42. Probably the three best colours Skoda have ever done.
  43. First very small mod. Added a set of Heko wind deflectors.
  44. As you can see from the above replies, you get two sets of answers depending on manual/DSG transmission. I used to have the same combo as you - VRS TDI/DSG and the same problems. Bogs down in high gear when you put your foot down in D, hangs on in low gear too long when you take your foot off in S. Used M-mode a lot but prefer shifting up/down using the selector and not the paddles, which are never by your hand when you really need them in a hurry. I have read that you can "reset the DSG" which means returning its adaptation to factory condition, but I'm not sure it actually learns or adapts while its being driven. Its a simple procedure no tool needed (but I can't remember how you'd have to search for it). Now I'm much happier with the petrol/DSG combination 😀

ok, i'll do a search!! Thanks!!, and enjoy your jollies
  46. My apologies, my bad. No excuse except decrepitude and mislaid glasses 🥺
  47. I hereby predict... In a few months we'll have reports of - antisocial use of scooters scooters abandoned in random places scooters being used to start big fires drunk people using scooters crashing into crowds causing injuries the first reports of deaths by hire scooter accident In six months we'll have - Reports of a significant number of deaths of scooter users. A combination of losing control and heads being hit without helmets, and ploughing into traffic and ending up under buses. Police reqests for new laws etc to prosecute misuse of scooters Knee jerk legislation restricting use of the scooters to counter bad press about the deaths due to an "ill considered choice by Government in June" In 12 months - The death of the scooter hire industry as everyone realised that it's a bit of a stupid idea and you're better off with an electric bicycle or car
