  1. So remind me, which team pushed for the party mode ban? And which team have gone backwards on the grid with the party mode ban? Doesn't look so good for the race now does it? Hahahahaha. https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/151908/bottas-not-sure-how-happy-red-bull-is-on-party-modes Thanks for making my day RB-Honda.
  2. 280 here ... 3 mile commute to and from work in town.... 19-20 mpg. Holiday run to Cornwall ....43mpg.. Smiles per mile v 190 Diesel .... No comparison.
  3. You are right, many forces are using dashcam footage to prosecute dangerous driving but beware. If your speed is recorded and shows over the limit, you can be prosecuted for speeding.
  4. Well LOL doesn't know much about F1 as Lewis on Pole Position with the fastest ever lap in F1 History with an average speed of over 164mph. 94th Pole for Lewis and a splendid 3rd for Sainz in the quick McLaren. Bottas very close but still second. The Tifosi seen at the Down In The Mouth a nice pub just outside Modena.
  5. Truly a case where a picture speaks a thousand words.

Really disappointed with this news. I have spent time watching the reviews and seriously considering a Citgo-e for my wife as a local run around. As noted by some a business led choice that does not reflect the demand for the vehicle. What a waste of time and effort for those involved in the car. I guess Kia are the ones to take seriously... Will have to wait to find a decent candidate.

So thats the end of the Citigo altogether then. It first appeared in 2012 so I suppose its reached the end of its lifespan by car model change standards. Pity they never bothered putting the TSI engine in it like they did with the UP.
  8. Mirror "synchronous adjustment" can disabled or enabled in the Mirror settings in the Car Setup menu. This will stop both mirrors moving together when you move the right hand one. Then you can adjust each one separately by moving the switch to L or R. I expect the Seat Leon would have similar menus depending on the year model. This can be permenantly disabled using VCDS diagnostic software tool. I've not done it with my own VCDS but I expect it would remove the option from the Infotainment menus.
  9. Eibach Pro Kit fitted in the last hour so I suspect the car will drop another couple of mills. on first impressions, I’m really happy with the results!

Simples for TSI,s on fixed servicing can use vw502. Or vw504/ 507, fixed or variable. or now vw 508/509 since WLTP introductions. For fixed or variable servicing. TDI,s and it has to be the 507 or 509 which is 0w 20 fs IV crap . Producer of no consequence and not voiding any warranties in the EU or the UK.

My point explained perfectly to the OP.

The oil and filter do not have to be bought from Skoda. The correct fluids and filters or parts have to be used. Even Skoda CZ and Skoda dealerships do not 'buy from Skoda' as Skoda do not produce oil or manufacture filters. So approved repairers or VAT registered establishments and the correct consumables. It is s free market and best read warranty T&C,s if interested.
  16. With current state of rapid charging network, especially at motorway services, I would be more than happy to go this route instead of Tesla. It is known as range extended EV.
  17. @ColinD do you think it would wind up Tesla fanboys if I put a Briskoda stiker on the model 3? :-)
  18. I received the new screen part TDO-WVGA0633F00045 this evening from the seller pandzior (from Poland) on eBay.de. It arrived quickly (ordered 30th August) and well packaged in a reused box and well padded with paper and bubble wrap. Even if not a new item, it certainly appears in perfect undamaged condition. Since I'd previously dismantled my Skoda Yeti 2016's head unit (5L0035680C) to get the screen part number (which was TDO-WVGA0633F00039), fitting the new screen (TDO-WVGA0633F00045) was a simple task. It works perfectly. For £121.21 delivered it was bit of a bargain when compared to other prices for the same screen (both TDO-WVGA0633F00039 and TDO-WVGA0633F00045). Perhaps I have been a bit fortunate, I don't know, but I'm very happy with the outcome. Hopefully these model number details help others fix their head units too. For me, the issue was that parts of the screen were not working (two columns down the screen) and the radio acting as though it was being repeatedly pressed when it wasn't (which seemed worse when damp conditions). I had tried updating to the latest firmware, removing the radio and screen and thoroughly cleaning and also removing engine bay fuse F8 for the infotainment system. Good luck everyone with the same faults. And thanks again Rustynuts for the helpful advice and pab567 on another thread for the radio firmware.
  19. Back in March when I got the Tesla I was asked if I would do a post about how it was going. Obviously events have meant I have yet to get much driving done, though we did manage to fit in a trip over to Belfast so I do have somethign on which to report. First up, having driven a Leaf for the last two years I am used to the instant torque and crazy accelaration, though the model 3 takes this to a level where I have yet to have the nerve to fully floor it. It is that powerful, mine is the base version so it only has 245 bhp. Handover was in the first week of lockdown, so it was totally touchless. I had to wait outside at a distance, they brought the car out, and then went back inside before I could approach the car and drive away (having paid the night before). Firstly, you'll have heard of issues with build quality. Right now it seems that Tesla haven't a clue about quality control and it is a lottery whether you get one that's perfect or a nightmare. In fairness most of the issues are related to the bodywork and the cars are driveable. It's not like a mechanical failure on an ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicle. Mine had:- 1) a scratch across the boot 2) a mis aligned bonnet (frunk) 3) the nose of the car hadn't had dirt removed before they painted it so it needed a new front end 4) driver's door misaligned 5) driver's door window wouldn'tclose properly 6) a rear quarter panel mis aligned 7) and it later emerged there was insufficient coolant in the battery cooling system (more of which below) These were all reported at handover - something you do via the app, and then attach photos. Tesla then allocate a repair appointment. The repair process is actually very slick though it was not great to have so much chance to witness it. Having had 10 Skodas starting with an Estelle and finishing with a 2015 Octavia I have never been accustomed to this level of defects. It was also filthy inside, covered in dust and grime from transit. I put this down to the fact that they were trying to minimise exposure to covid. The first appointment available due to COVID was 2 months later. 8 weeks passed and at the end of May they took the car in (touchless again) . They fixed the door and the window but the rest would have to await parts. More weeks, and then months, passed and since the defects were by now just cosmetic I didn't chase them. Last week, at the end of August, the car started whining and buzzing really loudly. It sounded like there were fans running and there was a lot of liquid gurgling sounds. I asked on a Tesla forum and was told off by Tesla fanboys - "all normal", "stop moaning". Basically don't question the sacred Tesla, if there's a fault I was told, the car will tell you via the screen. Except it didn't and there really was a fault. I logged it with a video. Within 12 hours an engineer phoned, they had connected to the car, run tests and established that the coolant level was very low. Seriously impressive. So a service appointment was booked, and I asked about all the other faults. "Faults? We've got no record of any faults?" Turns out they had forgotten totally. The merits of dealing with a new company that is selling cars as fast as it can make them. They then fixed everything within a week. So this week I have had my car fully repaired, everything looks like it should and they have filled the coolant to the level it shoud have had when it left the factory. So what to make of it? Well it is phenomenally efficient. EVs measure economy in miles per kWh (Tesla use Wh per mile but they just have to be different it seems). My leaf was pretty good and in the Summer would get around 4.5 miles per kWh, in the winter 3.8 was normal. So far since March I have been getting around 7 miles per kWh in the tesla. The equivalent in MPG terms is somewhere in excess of 200 MPG - Impressive. I can't comment on the supercharger network as they are few and far between in Scotand and I have been using the standrad Scottish Government chargers instead. Not all of them though because again Tesla haven't complied 100% with standards because quite a few of the older chargers simpoly do not detect that the car is connected. Driving it is different from any other car I have driven due to the large central screen, but you quickly get used to it. It's not though as good in many respects as Android Auto which I had in the leaf and the Octavia. Yiou ahve to pay £120 extra per year for data connectivity to use spotify or Tune in, no other apps are available. I used to use waze and pocket casts but those are not available to me. Elon says there's no need. Spotify is available but it si not as good as normal spotify, your music is in an entirely random order, nothing as boring as being in alphabetical order. You can of course use voice commands exceot they don't work anything like as reliably as google's version. One example, today I said "play Radio Scotland" to get the radio retuned. It played something called Hooked on a Feeling by a Swedish folk band. Don't even try asking it to navigate "command not understood". I aksed it to navigate to Drumnadrochit (ok that's a tough one but google can do it) - it thought I was trying to say something about a drunken doorkit and said it didn't understand. The excuse given to justify the 15 inch screen instead of buttons is that yuou'r esupposed to use voice commands, but in my experience they work only around 20% of the time. I can turn the heating up and down but pretty much nothing else works. ANother issue is that the sat nav is, well, pretty random. Not all the time but a heck of a lot of it. I asked it for a route from my house to my parents, around 12 miles. It suggested a 70 mile detour to the other side of Scotland. Like I say, random. When we went to Northern Ireland, the obviosu route is via the M77 and A77 - not for Tesla, It suggested a variety of B roads. Often re planning the route produces a more sensibke route but the point is if it is doing this on routes I do know how can I trust it when I am in strange territory? Answer is I can't. So i have gone back to mounting my phone in a cradle and using that as my sat nav. speaking of phones, like many people I have 2, one for work and a personal phone. In Skoda and Nissan I could connect both to bluetooth at the same time. WHichever one rang it was OK I could answer hands free. In the tech marvel that is the Tesla?? Sorry, only one connection at a time. Baffling. Speaking of Northern Ireland, that was somethign of a nightmare. We have done the trip in a leaf without issue, but the leaf uses the much older chademo charge port, rather then the eurpen standard CCS which is in the tesla. For unknown reasons Northern Ireland has only 14 rapid chargers, that's bad, but only half of them have CCS, the other half afre CCS and chademo. To make matters worse many of them are in shop car parks and these are locked shut when the shops close. In a SUnday you can only charge from 1pm to 5pm. More of a criticism of NI than Tesla but coming from Scotland where we have a very pro EV governmen and charging hubs springing up around the country it was a shock to the system. So how would I sum it up? It is an amazing car, probably the most advanced car I have ever owned, and yet lacking in every day tech like a sat nav that works or smart phone integration. Telsa want you to use their system and pay £120 per year extra for it. It is also badly let down by the abysmal quality control. Quite how they can send cars out of the factory with dirt underneath the paintwor is beyond me. Taking 5 months to fix it? Well it was cosmetic so didn't stop me using the car but it is hardly ideal. I had been due to buy a VW ID3 but they messed me around no end and couldn't guarantee I would get a car so I jumped ship. Now that the ID3 is arriving I am feelign a touch of regret. The model 3 is bigger than I really need and the VW would probably be a better fit with my needs. And yet 0-60 in 5 seconds is fun when you have a BMW M3 trying to ride your back bumper. Bottom line though is that with the SKoda Enyaq coming in December and more models likely in 2021 they are going to face a lot more competition. Even now cars like the e niro have a 7 year warranty and on a 50 kW charger it wil actually charge faster than the Tesla (don't tell the fanboys but this is true I have seen it with my own eyes).. Actually that last part may change on my car now that Tesla have actually filled it with the collant fluid it should have had from day 1, as I understand it that is used to both warm and cool the battery to keep it at the optimum charnign temperature. SO it's a mixed bag, it is impressive, and frustrating. I'm in a £40k+ car where I have to use my phone to navigate and a bluetooth headset to ensure I can answer both phones. I had to wait 5 months to get the car in a state which it would have been had there been a proper PDI carried out. But the way you can ghet a diagnosis remotely from a Tesla engineer is very impressive. But competition is growing and Tesla won't have it all their own way for long. Polestar 2 is starting to arrive in numbers and VW will be delivering at scale by the end of 2020. Would I buy another one? On balance, probably not. PS I forgot to add, not only does Spotify cost you an extra £120 a year, the car comes with no spare wheel, no tyre repair kit and you're advised to take out separate recovery as Tesla recovery will only recover you within 50 miles of a Tesla service centre (there's none on Norhtern Ireland and only one in Scotland (ie 33% of the UK land mass)
  20. You would need to tow a service department behind with specialised computerised test equipment to be able to tackle the same things as a decent tool kit would manage with your Spitfire. Its called Progress!
  21. Pretty sure Hamilton was fastest in Q1 on the medium, but elected not to use it in Q2. Mercedes only wrecked their tyres in mega heat at Silverstone, a high downforce track. Monza is nothing like that and the forecast is only 27C, so we will see. No-one qualified on the mediums because their poor start performance would almost certainly lose places on the run to turn 1 and overtaking here is painfully difficult most years. Who is this Renault-Mclaren team you speak of? According to the FIA entry list "McLaren Racing Ltd" enter the "McLaren F1 Team". No official mention of their bought-in engine - unlike Alpha Tauri Honda for instance.

I think this will sell well and certainly represents the future for the ŠKODA line up. Non petrol/diesel is the future and we’ll just have to get used to life without them, in whatever form that takes 🙂. My first impressions and observations having seen the launch videos and after a few days to get used to looking at it in photos: > The grill is...odd in my opinion. Like the new Octavia, it looks like it’s doing an impression of itself and is too big a leap from the ‘traditional’ ŠKODA look. This seems to be a growing trend among manufacturers at the moment (looking at you BMW). The LED version is very gimmicky. I don’t want to think of the cost of replacing that if it’s damaged by a rock or pigeon making contact with it at high speed 😬. >The traditional ‘power dome’ is now upside down (power dent?). Again, I’m not sure how this is meant to fit with the rest of the range, or if it’s a deliberate move away from the traditional ŠKODA look. >The rear end looks like an after thought. Reminds me of the rear end of a Mondeo. >The interior looks nice, however as pointed out on the Autofughl video, ŠKODA made a point about this car using sustainable materials, yet it’s still packed full of animal skin and wool. >Colour choice will be a key here. The launch event colour scheme (ice blue?) doesn’t do it any favours. Black and Red seem to help a lot. The special Tour de France red car they used the day after launch looked really good! I think the purported vRS version is going to appeal to the same sort of driver as the Kodiaq vRS- someone who wants the top of the line version and lots of torque, but unlikely to be used in a track.
  23. I love it got to be the best Skoda I've owned 😍 (I've had one or two in my time 😉) the 2.0 TSI is brilliant all the power you can want the DSG work with know problem at all it's a lot better than the 6sp I had in my octy vRS but the best part of the car is the 4X4 you can Push it in to corners a bit harder 😋 it tends to understeer a bit but its not a problem in the rain there always grip 💪 the ride is good and comfortable it's a very nice car 🥰
  24. Fitted new steering wheel New 280 4x4 owner but didn’t have paddles. Ordered a wheel with paddles from a German seller on eBay and fitted today. Now have paddles and no coding required! took about 20 mins. Works perfectly!
  25. Superb Sportline 272 hatch owner for 8 months now and after 7,800 miles it does everything very well. Like Nick above it will do 12mpg at 160mph (Autobahn of course) or 49.3mpg on my 27 mile commute. Upto 730 miles range and no diesel Superb can live with the performance available and traction impressive whether the road is soaking wet or bone dry. Actual average so far 39.5mpg.
  26. @Warrior193 I write "wooden spatula" and you read "kitchen spatula"... funny! I also have a wooden spatula such as an ice scrapper to defrost my windshield in winter. Better, I don't catch SWMBO using it for cooking!
  27. Look for part number agreements by navigating to the relevant pages in here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/ Slam panel and glass will be in the 'body' group, airboxes in 'engine'.
  28. I second the Travall dog guard, have one for my hatch and its great, attaches to the lugs that hold the seats up, literally held in by the pressure of the rear bench, pic below
  29. Yeah I agree with that sentiment. The problem I have is two fold. 1. I'm used to driving at odd times when no one's about, this has been even more evident than usual thanks to Covid, where roads have been empty even at when "normals" would be about and it's too easy to forget about the limit. 2. Now they're starting to get back behind the wheel, they've forgotten just about everything and fail to realise that others are about and do stupid things like forget red lights, illegal turns etc. They're also driving like Miss Daisy, which is driving those of us who haven't been affected by lock down and been driving throughout mad by trundling along at silly low speeds like 20 or 30 in 40+ area's like dual carriageways or the A3! 😡😡😡 What I'm finding really really annoying is I bought a Nextbase 612GW and hardwire kit a while ago and put it somewhere safe and it's so safe I can't find it anywhere! 😠😖
  30. It's purely an update to make sure that you get a bulb out warning should one of the front led indicators fail. Not worth the time in my opinion.
  31. Enter your postcode on this webpage to find out if it's available in your area: https://getdigitalradio.com/your-stations/ Chris

Yes the car can be on Fixed servicing. Just get the service is indicator changed to that at a service. Or each year or sooner put the car in for a service. Get stuff needing done done and do not pay for stuff not replaced or even looked at.
  35. There are known reliability issue with i3 REx engine not being used for a long time. It needs more engineering efforts but because general public and the government sees this the same as PHEV, it doesn't get as much attention as full EV. See this thread: https://www.speakev.com/threads/for-the-love-of-god-do-not-run-an-i3-without-a-warranty.101153/ There should be a slightly reduced grant for ~40kWh battery with REx engine. But all cars bought using this grant must be fitted a no ICE GEO-zone restrictor for cleaner inner city. Similarly, I think 80+ kWh is very wasteful and should have grants removed. This will not only spur manufacturers to make more efficient cars. Also sends message that EV is about covering 90% of your daily journey, then use rapid charging for long journey. Speaking of which: Well, they are not wrong. Queuing for charging sucks, 20-40min stop is already the maximum time I'm willing to stop mid-journey, doubling that time due to occupied charger makes going back to fossil fuel really attractive. Really need each location, especially on trunk roads, to have 6+ chargers as minimum. The removed big battery grants should go into rapid charging infrastructure for everyone. 7kW AC charging speed, on the other hand, it's non-issue as long as one can plug-in overnight. It will not be an issue until beyond 100kWh batteries become norm, which is unlikely over next 10 years. What's the average daily miles for a London taxi anyway? 100 kWh can easily go over 300 miles in an efficient car at such low speed. That is 15 hours of averaging 20mph, a speed that is difficult to achieve in London. 40 kWh LEVC should give over 120 miles range on a charge, that is 6 hours of similar driving. Rapid charge over food break and should give another 5 hours. Recharge overnight on AC, ready for another zero tailpipe emission day.
  36. Ha ha - a very good point. It’s down to personal preference I guess. Going on my most recent experience I’ll be checking whether my regular specialist can do recall work next time as I trust him far more than the main dealer I went to. 🙃
  37. 1 point
So Skoda are going to be trying to get enough sales of 1.0tsi DSG mild hybrids and also 1.5 TSI,s and the plug in,s so no need to flog the cheapest of the 3 sister small EV,s leaving VW to. That will be the actuality and the words someone working for Skoda / VW will not utter.

  39. They've been spotted on an Aston Martin and a Peugeot Seadrive previously and they're an even more exclusive club!
  40. I can't recollect which one does what but basically adjust one side to how you want it to be and then go to the other one to get that correct too (or vice versa just so the second side only adjusts that side). Then if you put it to whichever side adjusts both mirrors you will find how much easier it is to move both mirrors when reversing if you need to check at ground level. It's easier to do than my garbled explanation makes out though. To further add things to the mix, if you have mirrors that drop when reversing then there's a separate way to set that up - one which I have disabled and remember even less about!
  41. 100% no, they look awful. For me it is the same with the Citroën Cactus, those plastic door panels?! I'd rather have someone open their door on my car and dent it than have those awful looking plastic panels 750x423-concept-car-citroen-cactus-design-pur.35828.73.webp
  42. Isn't there a setting to synchronise the mirrors.?

Wouldn't be my first choice, bit heavy, soft suspension, tendency to understeer. A Clio 172/182, MX-5 or MR2 all make decent budget track cars.
  45. Has it gone all the way through? I'm constantly amazed what Meguiars 105 / 205 will polish out - if you've got a few areas in need of TLC it's probably worth a punt. Being tight if it's all the way though I'd mostly likely masking it up and having a bash with a spray can and then use the 105 to try and blend it out - if it looks naff, the it's not a massive outlay. Edit - on closer inspection it has gone though. If you have my skill levels UndertheRadar has the right answer (of if you're like my wife, just ignore it)
  46. Also got the jet washed stuff all back in and inside car fully assembled apart from the centre console that I need to keep out while I'm doing the handbrake cables. Can all go in after this. Cleaned all the trim as well while it was out.
  47. good plan, Nothing wrong with giving it a nice fresh drink of oil every year, keeps it sweet especially with your extra horse power you have under that hood (compared to mine...weep:-)) . I'm an oil burner and do 12-14k per anum and I'm sticking with a max of 10k oil change and 20k do the lot, air filter fuel filter etc. My last VW diesel I exactly that and it had done 185K when it got chucked in and broke down once in 12 years due to clutch pedal master cylinder leak, not an engine fault in sight in all that time and still pulled like the day i bought it.
  48. TBH I did have the bumper done at the same time so was around £500 (but the bumper is a bigger job as it has to come off and the washer jets removed etc). Most places were quoting £200-£300 per panel if you are flexible on when it can be done. Of course they did the top of the wings etc. Made it look like a completely fresh car though and was a seriously proper job, can't fault it.
  49. Once again, for whoever wants them, here is my latest customised version of EU Speedcams ( August, 2020 ). They consist of EU speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons for each category which are shown below. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Enjoy! EU Speedcams August, 2020.zip
  50. I decided to get up early this morning and head off for a drive. We're lucky that there are some amazing roads round here and that on a Sunday morning the only real traffic on the roads is the occasional sheep or pheasant. The route is about 74 miles and goes from Scarborough up to Whitby, over the tops and then down to Danby, Castleton, Blakey Ridge and back home to Scarborough via Pickering. I also took a few photos along the way as it seemed like a good idea at the time. The car performed brilliantly and even returned nearly 37mpg despite the occasional use of the right foot. It's been ages since I used the car for anything other than going to work and back so I'm glad i made the effort.
