  1. For those of u who have heard of the MK7 Golf GTi Intake Mod, I did a similar thing to my Superb's air intake, by opening up the blocked off bits on the right side. However, with the Superb, doing this alone won't be as effective due to the design of the front grille and the plastic moldings behind it. The reason for this is because top half of the Superb's grille is actually blocked across, with air only allowed to enter through the bottom half. This means the air going into air intake is restricted by two openings feeding the intake. For it to be effective, you need to also unblock the right side opening that sits behind the grille. This will allow a more direct air flow, meaning a happier turbo and hence better performance combined with my CTS turbo inlet elbow, silcone pipe and aFE Magnaflow air filter - it not only feels better, but it sounds good too. I won't explain how to modify the actual front air intake as there are plenty of YouTube videos on it. This will show the modification required specific to the Superb, that remove the restriction caused by the blank plate. Mine is a 162 TSi (220). The same would apply for the 206 TSi (280). Unfortunately there is no other way to make this mod, but to remove the entire front bumper in order to open up the blocked off panel. The top black plastic cover is fixed to the top of grille, hence can't remove that to access it. The entire grille is fixed to the bumper, hence can't remove that to access it. so its a whole bumper off job. again, i won't explain how to remove the bumper, but its a wheels off, wheel arches off and underbody skid plate separated job. below are some pics. this is the bit i'm referring to - from factory the right side is closed:- left side open:- right side closed:- the air flow on the left is unobstructed, and flows up and into the intake, most of the air going into the engine bay (as the back is open), and the rest travelling right towards the air intake box. this is the end result, i made holes in the panel on the right, thus enabling air flow to go directly up and into the air intake. Comparison of before and after. originally my intention was to move that blocking plate, so it looks like the one on the left. but it is one piece with the entire black plastic. only way was to cut it out. unfortunately again, that black plastic is metal riveted to the frame surrounding the bonnet release bracket. grrrr. so i went with plan B and drilled holes. finished product - sleeper factory look factory the only giveaway being the silicone intake hose pipe.
  2. Having lived with my Kamiq for six weeks I've decided to share my experiences for those who visit the site when deciding if this is the car for them to buy. I have had my car for about six weeks having previously had three Honda CRVs and a Karoq some of which had auto gear boxes. I decided to go for the Kamiq as I didn't require as much space, wanted a reliable auto box and for financial reasons as I am doing far fewer miles. The positives of the car are as follows:- The car looks good , seems to have good build quality and has a well laid it out interior with adequate space for a couple or small family. The steering is light and responsive. Unfortunately I've found several negatives which at this table makes me feel as though I've bought the wrong car:- The infotainment and cockpit controls are complicated e.g. The air con has buttons on the dash and on the main screen instead of just one area. The lane assist jerks the wheel back and is very irritating. It requires to be turned off on every journey. The front assist was set to medium yet the brakes slammed on when a car emerged at least forty yards in front of me when I was doing less than 30mph. Extremely dangerous and I've now set it to LATE. Finally the auto box and 1.5 engine are a disappointment. Firstly the DSG seems to search for a gear on occasions for no reason. Also if you are looking to nip away from a standing start a little quicker than normal it seems to wheel spin despite light even pressure on the accelerator. I'm an advanced driver from my occupation and do not drive hard or fast so this is perplexing having previously driven several auto cars with no problem. One last moan is that the car sits quite low, not a problem in itself but I find rear visibility really poor compared to my previous SUVs. im coming to the conclusion that I've bought the wrong car and hope that my experience assists any prospective buyers.

The bolt on the pully end of the high pressure fuel rail had become slack enough to allow number 1 injector to spray fuel out into the engine bay. New seals on all 4 injectors and new bolts fitted with lock tight and back on the road , cost £192.
  4. Sure, drop me a PM if you'd like a scan I've removed airbags a few times so if you need a hand, I'm happy to help
  5. Well conversely after coming from a Seat Leon my wife adores this and finds it plenty high enough. Lane assist is far less intrusive than the Leon too. Horses for corses.
  6. This is my MY20 245 Challenge, appears to be HW442 4388 and guessing AC from the sw string too. Drive mode is automatically reset
  7. Quite often the manuals give information which hasn't been updated even when the cars have. In saying that, I'm sure the assistance was given in good faith - and really should have been taken in the same manner too.
  8. It'd be nice if the warning came with the audible chime that normally accompanies alerts / warnings...........
  9. The reset of drive mode is with all gateway version HW 5xx. The resetting is new feature, because of emission tests. The newest gateway without resetting of drive mode is HW442 with software index AC, version 4388 (for Octavia).
  10. Had this a week now, I absolutely love it. 2017 190 DSG Sportline 4x4. Canton sound, power boot, and factory fitted towbar.

First drive! Some random pics from around Wellington. Lots still to sort out but I have a usable car now, and a baseline to go forwards. Very happy indeed. Hmm...

  14. Hi All, I joined Briskoda back in 2015 but let my membership lapse and hardly ever dropped back in as life and serious illness took over. Anyway this week I happened to notice that my Roomster wasn’t locking the drivers door, no idea how long that’s been happening as the last two years it has hardly moved. Anyway I found a fix on here for the door wiring loom and sure enough exactly what it was so not a bad fix. So I figured that Briskoda had saved me a bob or two no idea how much so that paying a years subscription has to be worthwhile way of saying thank you. Fingers crossed the car doesn’t need anything doing for a while nor me for that matter. Jim
  15. Hi all, picked up my fabia today. What a great surprise! Was really surprised how smooth the auto box was as I haven't drove an automatic for along time. And really surprised the speed from this little beauty. I've come from a 2.0 tsi passat 200bhp and I must say how much faster this fabia feels. Really pleased with my purchase.
  16. If battery is like for like type & Ah is fine no coding required..the car will learn over time that a new battery has been fitted. Changing the serial number 1 digit tells the module that a new battery has been fitted. AH capacity & type MUST match that of the battery installed...
  17. 5E0919605N looks to be a Bolero with a 'Setup' button. 5E0919605M looks to be an Amundsen with a 'Nav' button.
  18. Exhaust manifold needs tightning/new gasket?
  19. Then the appropriate module on the vehicle should have been reprogrammed to suit the new battery.
  20. @J.R. Unlikely with a 1.2 TSI / Petrol. @Tony60 As above in reply No. 1, if not done as it is due a replacement or at least a look see, and the spark plugs might be needing replaced, or at least inspected and the gap checked. So as well to change the spark plugs. PS The exhaust internals can start to disintegrate and there is nothing to see, so not leak to be detected.
  21. Yes it absolutely can be removed leaving the bumper in situ. After removing the fixings you need to release the clips from the bumper to remove the grille & surround as one unit, then more clips to seperate them from each other. If you are hoping to save the grille surround then you will need patience and determination in equal measure. The inner grille, the slatted part costs around £60 IIRC and was one of the most expensive parts of my rebuild, it may even have been £80. The dealer will charge you for the surround and the inner as the mechanics wont have the patience or skill to seperate them and they are there to sell parts not to do difficult tasks for their £196. It would take me 10 minutes to remove and replace the grille and surround as one unit.
  22. Yep, mine resets to Normal once I turn the ignition off. (And my 'magic box' switches it to Individual when starting the car.)
  23. I think vehicle manufacturers have missed a trick by not building a Roomster type of vehicle but looking at it from a business point of view the Roomster didn’t sell in enough quantities or at least in the UK. It could be argued that Skoda missed a trick by not marketing the Roomster, I don’t remember seeing adverts for it. I’m sure if the Roomster was publicised it would of been a huge success. Unfortunately manufacturers seem hell bent on building overly expensive hybrid or full electric vehicles to meet future restrictions. Im no fan of modern diesel engines with their DPFs and Adblu systems either, you really need to be running high miles to run one of those without DPF problems. our Roomster was meant to be my daily driver when we bought it and eventually replacing an aged Nissan Terrano that my wife drives but the Terrano is now 21 years old solid and passing MOTs. No plans on getting rid of the Roomster anytime soon, just fixed the door wiring loom which is the first fault in 5 1/2 years.

One of the largest charging hubs in the country has opened in Falkirk football club car park. Doesn’t get more central. And only 2 miles from me. Maybe one day . . . . .
  27. Disconnect the battery overnight if you intend to remove the airbag - you'll also need a wide(ish) short handled screwdriver and a small mirror to be able to see the catches that need to be released
  28. Another good tip is to look in via the front hole to guide the bulb in.

I'd be quite tempted once the range with stuff on; wipers, ac, heaters, is 300+ It's not uncommon for me to head from home in sheffield, to say Ilfracombe, with a few toilet stops, 281miles, but no specific long hour stop. Now I could easily bake two 30min stops in. Heading to scotland, via perth thats 400+ for fort william. Once past the Lake district the driving is easy but hilly. I normally bake a stop in on the a66 and again around perth, both I think I could do with this ev. But could I do it with all the essentials, and maybe the radio on too? That I'm not so sure about. And I know I'd have fun getting to Orkney and back. Ultimately as I've learnt from the above tv show, it's about changing habits, expectations, making more of the journey than the destination. If it wasn't for covid and a few other problems, I've got a 'video' tour planned for the enyaq if skoda press lent us one. And it's mostly based in scotland Where now, I'll need the wipers, ac and radio
  30. Brilliant, but lots of effort to drill some holes! I just took the easy way and removed the snow grate.
  31. Never seen the point in removing a wiper from the rear
  32. If anyone's interested I just put together an external maintenance wash starter kit using a combination of Pan the Organiser videos. It came to roughly £150. I spent a few days tracking down best prices, etc and ended up going for: Clean Your Car Car Pro Reset shampoo P&S wheel and tire cleaner 2 x external cleaning brushes (one for badges, one for wheels) Car Parts 4 Less 2 buckets 2 grit guards Sealant wax Tire dressing Amazon Edgeless microfibre cloths Wheel brush Tire dressing applicator Chenille microfibre wash mitts Pump sprayer (for foaming wheels) Microfibre drying towel Glass cleaner
  33. Try pushing the connector further on before trying to release the clip/connector
  34. I reached out to Skoda folks. They are aware of the issues and are working on resolving them. Soon there will be an update and all of the issues with Skoda Connect will be resolved. That is what I have been promised from Skoda Europe HQ.
  35. Thank you HeavyMetalRich I do hope its something like this all the other things I have read sound very expensive indeed!!!
  36. Not sure how similar or different a mk2 is from a mk1, but on a mk1, taking the whole door off is surprisingly easy (unplug wiring connectors, undo door check-strap by single bolt on door, remove two 13mm nuts from hinges, lift off). This gives excellent access to the area from outside. Also on the mk1, there is enough slack in the loom to pull that cluster of connectors out far enough to get the individual ones out from the frame.
  37. Claying is really easy and the paint work feels really smooth - people describe it as like glass, but actually it feels much smoother than most glass. The amount of contamination you remove is a bit of a shock if you think your car is clean. Just order some ebay clay, you know you want to. For clay lube I use Demon Shine - its just a quick detail spray, but a 5 ltr bottle is £15 so very good value.
  38. Removed the touch screen and top speaker cover on the dash and padded both to stop rattles. If they’re quiet the next time I go out, I’ll remove them again and post pics of where I padded for anyone else who’s interested.

Possible that the mech has gone on the boot lock. Open it up and I spec it all and double check the wiring. Boot should unlock with remote locking and with the key in the door and finally with the button on the drivers door.
  40. The VAG Group's market strategy has always been a spread of offerings from lower cost lower margin to higher cost higher margin. Audi has been the flagship marque with all the toys and (allegedly) flashy looks, followed by VW as the "sensible" or "family" brand, then Seat as the "young person's" brand and Skoda as the "economical, reliable but not flashy" brand. Various things have happened that probably come under the "laws of unintended consequences" for VAG, including changing reliability figures putting Skoda above Seat above VW and way above Audi, the "dieselgate" scandal which has hit Audi and VW brands hard, harder economic times making buyers more concerned about value for money than bling and the outright success of the Skoda and Seat brands themselves. VAG accountants are looking hard at Margin Return (ie, how much profit they get to keep from selling a vehicle) and MR for Audi especially and VW is being reduced by market pressure on selling prices and the cost of after sales support (reliability). A major influence in the car sales market is fleets, where fleet managers are looking harder and harder at the cost of ownership - and the likes of Skoda are coming out well. Skoda's own "blinging up" of its offerings is making them more attractive to fleet car drivers which also adds to the pressure. Then of course there's the EV shift, which is adding further buggerance to the market. Despite the public image VAG likes to portray of everyone working together in harmony stories from insiders tell of bitter battles between the boardrooms of the various marques who are fighting for prominence, and I expect this will continue until the markets get past the shakeout that's gathering pace now - EVs, Covid, economic downturn, decline of the US empire, rise of European influence and the rise of the Chinese Empire. It's going to be an "interesting" ride ...
  41. I ran the composite video from the tailgate to the left side of the car body and along the roof line. drop the headliner slightly at each end by removing the A and C pillar trim and feed a stiff wire along the roof from back to front. You can then use this to draw your wires/cables through. My video cable has since broken in the tailgate rubber gaitor... so I've gone back to wireless
