  1. Another small update. From initial checks, the engine seems fine. There is a little bit of oil left in the engine which is good, but there's still the chance of bearing damage if the engine has been starved of oil/pressure. They won't know until the new turbo has been installed and the oil system sealed as that's when they can start to turn the engine over. New turbo has been ordered, waiting for it to come in before booking a technician to fit it, which is looking at the early part of next week.
  2. That's no ordinary home garage, with an air line on a runner and lifting beam bolted to the ceiling!
  3. Hi, is there a thread somewhere where I can whinge about this novelty app?
  4. In response to johnboy999 & MJ1's request for an update / review of my e Niro, here goes ; I still find the whole experience impressive, although still finding out something new every day ! The car has great acceleration, runs smoothly and quietly, is seemingly very well built with, in spec 4+ trim, every possible "toy" I could wish for. Almost a month in now, less than 250 miles covered but apart from the £3.16p spent when testing my wall charger, my costs have been NIL (thanks Tesco & Pod Point !). I plug in when out shopping, & once completed, unplug to find any mileage covered prior has been replaced. I've decided that now I know the score, to let the battery run down to about 60% before charging again (from home this time) as advice seems to be keeping the high power battery between 60-80% as the ideal. I'll still use Tesco's but maybe alternate chargers between theirs & home. Space inside is plentiful, but the boot is smaller than the Karoq's was - loads of decently sized cubbys in the cabin and under the boot "floor" (where the charging cables reside) but no spare wheel, which I regret. I've always carried out weekly checks on every car I've had, but the e Niro only needs tyres ( screen shows each wheels pressure anyway) and windscreen wash check ups. I've got full maintenance / servicing in my lease agreement but am wondering what service they'll need to do ( no oils, anti freeze, filters etc) !?! Probably just an inspection I reckon - even the brakes shouldn't need attention as the re gen braking (very effective in both slowing down whilst re charging the battery) means I can practically come to a stop without touching the brake pedal. The car rides the broken tarmac of our scarred roads much better than the Karoq ever did ( I didn't have DCC fitted) and the range is equally impressive - I don't think I need fear range anxiety with this car, it will easily do 250 miles even in winter it seems ( mine shows 276 miles on leaving Tesco). The quality inside is good too, JBL infotainment system is spot on, and the DAB radio does not drop out like the Karoq's did quite often ! The Karoq DID have a CD player and more importantly, an SD Card slot for my music collection - the e Niro has neither, although does play through a USB memory stick, so all is not lost ( even displays music video on the screen !). Fit n finish seem great, no rattles or panel gaps inside or out, and the quality of the materials inside seem good to me. So overall, am I happy with the eNiro? Most definitely, and whilst it's still early days, I reckon I'll remain so. If there's anything I've missed reporting on, or you have any Q's, please feel free to ask - I'll keep looking into the Karoq forum for a while yet - Stay safe & stay well. JKW
  5. Try this. Unlock the car with the fob and open just the front passenger side door. Wait thirty seconds or a minute (can't remember which it is) and see if the car re-locks itself as if you hadn't opened any doors. Repeat with each of the other doors if no re-locking happens. On ours the front passenger door opening wasn't 'seen' reliably and it turned out after a fairly in-depth look to be one of the connector solder joints inside the lock. Similar sounding symptoms to yours except I knew the autolocking wasn't enabled, and it didn't happen predictably at a given speed. Yours may have been enabled. Locking misbehaviour, another possible cause - Skoda Fabia Mk I - BRISKODA Since fixing that joint (and swapping in a new microswitch while I was there, just in case) no misbehaviour has occurred.
  6. Kudos to @ExSEAT - it is indeed the "adaptive" option within Lane Assist which makes the car behave like a hyper-coffeinated mother-in-law (apologies to all the mothers-in-law out there; my dearly departed one was a wonder of a person, and we miss her) about stay EXACTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE! With the "adaptive" (why would they call it that??) option turned off, Lane Assist does just what I want. thanks!
  7. I went for the Littco L380X, it seemed daft to got OEM when the Littco is half the price.
  8. oh my, what have you done...where's my pocorn.
  9. I would put money on it being the water pump. At that age and miles it's worth getting the cambelt done at the same time as it has to come off anyway.
  10. So that part number in my ebay link is the right one, first one that @Carlston listed above - 1K0411105AQ

You can not, but it needs to be a trend that owners start. Borrow their demonstrator or courtesy car and keep it until your vehicle is all sorted. In the past when Dealership have been incompetent people have invoiced them for their expenses, hourly rate, hire car if no courtesy car provided. People & the Car Magazines will eventually get to know VW Group & other manufacturers have taken the pith releasing vehicles that were not 'Fit for purpose' at the time of sale, They need hit in the pocket.
  12. Some proper pics. Placed the oem roofbars which look fun imo.
  13. Could be the waterpump, it's a common issue on the earlier TDi's:
  14. Interesting. My dealer said the noise I was experiencing was from the anti-roll bar bushes which, when replaced, solved the bloody annoying creaking once and for all? How odd that the model could suffer two noisy suspension components.
  15. According to gknautomotive.com there are four different front springs for the Skoda Octavia MK2 hatchback 1.6TDI depending on whether the car has sports or standard springs, and whether the car has manual or automatic gearbox. https://web.tecalliance.net/gkn/en/parts/cars/assigned?assemblyGroupId=100113&targetId=31590&typeNumber=31590&groups=188&brands=1&pf=2&page=0#@brc/brands:Car;targetType:cars;mandator:gkn/assem:SKODA%20OCTAVIA%20II%20(1Z3)%201.6%20TDI;targetType:cars;mandator:gkn;targetId:31590;typeNumber:31590/lnkparts:Coil%20Springs;targetType:cars;mandator:gkn;assemblyGroupId:100113;targetId:31590;typeNumber:31590;groups:188;brands:1;pf:2;page:0 Autodoc list all four front springs in various makes including Sachs https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/coil-springs-10213/skoda/octavia/octavia-1z3/31590-1-6-tdi?criteria[100]=VA&supplier[0]=32 Standard suspension manual gearbox OEM part number 1K0411105AQ OEM coil spring is marked with 1 Orange 4 Blue Dots, or 1 Violet 1 Orange 1 Blue Dot Standard suspension automatic gearbox OEM part number 1K0411105BC OEM coil spring is marked with 1 Violet 1 Orange 2 Blue Dots Sports suspension manual gearbox OEM part number 1K0411105DA OEM coil spring is marked with 3 Red 1 Grey Dots Sports suspension automatic gearbox OEM part number 1K0411105DB OEM coil spring is marked with 1 Red 1 White 1 Violet Dots 1K0411105AQ and 1K0411105BC Coil Springs http://www.oemepc.com/skoda/part_single/catalog/sk/markt/CZ/modell/OCT/year/2012/drive_standart/663/hg_ug/411/subcategory/411010/part_id/2561497/lang/e 1K0411105DA and 1K0411105DA Coil Springs http://www.oemepc.com/skoda/part_single/catalog/sk/markt/CZ/modell/OCT/year/2012/drive_standart/663/hg_ug/411/subcategory/411021/part_id/2561497/lang/e
  16. So I now have the first and only Superb MKIII in Australia with a Heated Windscreen!!! I might also look to get a different Climate Control module and sww about coding in the "Heated" feature. But for me, it was all about the heat rejection properties of the Glass. And it has been proven with light guages for a window tint company that the front glass is equielant of a 35% window film and provided 99.9% UV protection. The window was ordered 28th July and only arrived in Australia on the 12th Nov. The fitment and calibration all went well. Love the look!
  17. I think it'd be an extremely good idea to start a new thread in the projects section as those two cars would certainly attract a lot of attention.
  18. Today I fitted the mount insert. I went for the red one. Usually it's red for diesels and I have a petrol engine, but I wanted as little vibration as possible and the red is a softer one. There is of course a bit of vibration on tickover which is slightly annoying, but I hope it settles down a bit over time. In reverse as expected, again a bit of vibration, but no worse than on tickover and how often do you drive in reverse anyway! The car also had a sound on start up, which was a lower tone than usual. I took it for a good drive up the road, giving it hard acceleration, holding it at 50mph in 6th gear, even holding it in top gear at 30mph. I found once the car got moving there was no real difference to how it was before the insert was fitted. Will have to try to find an uneven road surface to try to create those bangs underneath the car I had before. Maybe now those bangs are a thing of the past. I will update this thread once I get a few miles on the clock, which of course might be a while with the bare few miles I am doing at the moment due to this bloomin virus.
  19. Never created a topic on international forums. Because I really get a lot of information on Briskoda from fellow users, I think it is fair enough to show you guys my own car and what I've done to it. On 17th of April this year, I bought a Skoda Fabia MK2 1.2TSI 105bhp from 2010. Car itself is quite loaded and the owner before me already did some upgrades to it. How I got the car (changes I could see and find were the Eibach springs, Fabia mk3 wheels, retrofit Xenon headlights, Monte Carlo front grille and shifter. After I've collected my car and drove it around, the hunting for parts and upgrades started. Genuine Skoda roofracks. The speedo meter needle had issues (LED was trippin') so I've upgraded them from plain white to green. After that, I've tinted the windows by myself. No bubbles or weird cracks. Seems fully original. Very pleased with the results for a DIY. Added some colour (RGB) to the interior by placing ambient lights. Bought for a very good price a set of VRS wheels in 17" They needed a refurb but who cares for 100euros including tyres. Bought some Brembo 4 pots 323MM brakes from a Seat Leon Cupra R. No I don't need that moch stopping power (I know you guys love the 312mm setup and you upgrade the brakes after you upgrade the power ) but I always love to have big brakes because of 2 major things in my opinion: 1. Looks way better and cooler and 2nd. stopping better and earlier is safer in any circumstance. I've restored the calipers myself and painted them Skoda Rally Green. After fitting them on the car, the VRS wheels didn't fit anymore (the inside of the wheel is not meant to fit a BBK). Bought (again) for very cheap a seat of Audi TT wheels (I mean.. 50euros for a set?!) Bought some rubber in the correct size (205/40/17) and mounted them on the wheels and fitted them on the car. I was keen with what I had till I saw a good KW V2 set on sale for a fair price.. Well, we know what happened next lol After getting frustrated by the look of the wheels, I've decided to give them some paint. Primer: Graphite metallic: And this is how the car is right now Thats it for now. Plan is to fix the squeaking accessories belt and I'll try to drive it like how it is for a couple of months. when the turbo claps out, I'll swap it for a hybrid one to get to plusminus 170bhp with a custom remap. also wanna make the front lights darker since it is way to bright (don't like chrome). Thats it for now, will update later.
  20. Oh, and you're more than capable of doing it. It's the thought of it that puts most people off - once you get stuck in it's quite straight forward, just take your time
  21. Get it from China, it'll be fine - It will take 7-14 days. I'm unsure why they have different warehouses for certain things as you're essentially ordering Chinese made goods, direct from China which is why everything is so cheap.
  22. 504 00 is the long life one. Read what root posted again, he's recommended 502 00.
  23. It might be a good idea to check for any residual flood water at all the low points, vents under front seats, spare wheel well, tilt back seats and check under there as well. If everything is bone dry to touch then like others I’m struggling to guess where rain is seaping in
  24. This happened to me a few years ago and I had a. 2 year battle to get it taken of the MIB register even though my insurance company accepted I wasn’t anywhere near the so called incident had taken place. If I hadn’t searched for cheaper renewal quote I wouldn’t have known there was a claim registered to me as the insurance company said it had not been .Please check yours as I wouldn’t want you to have the same problems I had.
  25. I had this a while ago on my 2008 columbus. Its a much older version but i had to get it reflashed by a skoda dealer to resolve it. It was flashed to newer version of the software but that version is long since replaced. Others may say you can fix yourself but i didnt want to risk trashing the headunit. Cost about £100 back in 2012. I think its just one of those things.
  26. Got my wheel alignment done today and while it was on the lift I got under it and had a good look. Seems to be solid just surface rust, so returned the new exhaust to euros. The guy doing the alignment had a look as well and said it was ok so all good.

  28. Hi all, For what it's worth, I've just had the same/similar leak in a 2016 yeti on the passenger side. Upon pulling down the headliner etc I found it to be leaking in the place mentioned by the original poster, where the plastic meets the aluminium, just a few drops at a time but enough over a weekend to soak the passenger footwell. I unscrewed and pulled the wind-deflector back, and found a quite crude repair with black silicon on the drivers side already in place, which explained why the a-cover on the drivers side had been slightly misfitted. As I have no garage/undercover parking, and the recent weather has been unpredictable at best, I've had to attempt to repair the leak outside/uncovered. For this reason I tried the Burgess Marine Creepy Crack Seal (as a previous poster mentioned), as this says it will still set in the presence of water. Over three days I progressively added a drop at a time via syringe to the spot. Allowed to dry and repeated. Probably added about 10 layers. Temp was <10 degrees. At the beginning it didn't appear to be doing anything but gradually it built up a layer over the area. Thus far, about three weeks in, it appears to be watertight. Will update if any failure. (oh, and to add, many thanks to this forum for the methodology!!!)
  29. When it happens if there are no traces of leaks or damp carpets, if the previous journey the occupants were not wearing wet coats & if the aircon was on when the engine stopped & the moisture is mainly on the front screen you dont need to be Einstein to work out what is going on.
  30. When ICE cars are no longer available and revenue from petrol/diesel tax on fuel starts to fall it is obvious that EV owners will be targeted by some kind of stealth tax.
  31. Yes! Her tyre was damaged just north of Talmine. We have some bone-jarring potholes. This is the exact spot https://w3w.co/pencils.encroach.fewer From which, I was able to tell a garage where to find her. He collected the wheel, went back to Tongue and fitted a new tyre there - lucky he had one the right size. Then he drove back to fit it. Said he's keps busy doing punctures! WhatThreeWords is a very useful app!
  32. Weekend off for Hamilton who has tested positive. Mercedes seat up for grabs.
  33. Is this the kind of road you are talking about? Boooooooootiful part of the world, makes my location (Grantown on Spey) seem positively southern!
  34. Seems to me that cars are becoming more and more “accessories to compliment your (so called perfect active) lifestyle rather than just a means to undertake a journey in a safe comfortable efficient manner. Which ultimately a car is supposed to be? The more a car is able to be personalised, the more premium the price can be, and the less chance a skinflint like me will be able to pick up a pre reg bargain!

A little research shows thats actually the case - CV joints are the same, thank you for clearing this up.
  36. It can be retrofitted to the rear doors. I did it a while ago now.
  37. AFAIK, the UK spec for the new vRS omits the electric memory drivers seat. 'Tis a pity, since we both use my ancient Superb, any replacement car needs to have said memory seat.
  38. yeah eyes are fine thx, just missed it wasn't paying "that" much attention was on the blower at the time, my bad..... can see the chords now, not a great photo either tbh.....hey ho....was close to a blow out really....spotted just in time. I did say it needed tracking though

You need to step into them. The platforms are the same and if the suspension and tyre circumference were then the floor is. But then the sill height is different, floor to sill, then floor to seat base with the seats at the lowest in both cars being compared. The rake of the screen / A pillars are different as is the vehicles roof heights. There really is no way of seeing what suits without getting your bum on the seats in the cars.
  40. Here's one of my Avon ZV's when I first had the car. This tyre had covered 3,000 miles. Sorting the tracking sorted it and the Kumho's I fitted after lasted almost 20.000 miles.
  41. check the wiring between the door and the A-pillar, not uncommon for breakages in that area,
  42. Just seen this. Happy Birthday! Finally all growed up and legal, huh? I don't post that often, but this site and its easily-Googled fountains of information has been so useful over my last ten or so years of Fabia ownership. Long may it continue.
  43. Yeah, the book says 'chain & tensioner replaced'. Will ask them to inspect it as part of the service to be on the safe side.

Watch Skoda UK. Sometimes they forget to tell the DVSA. Sometimes they do not actually contact Registered Keepers as they should as the DVLA give them the contact information of registered keepers. Owners should not need to find out about recalls on the social media / forums. Recall, Recall Action, Service Campaign and Skoda Secret Service Service Campaign gets lost in the translation from German to Czech to English. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall
  45. My cars in "the rear"
  46. TeslaBjorn has also identified a fairly repeatable case of phantom braking in Tesla vehicles. On narrower single carriageway roads it get's scared if a large truck is coming the other way. The extra width means the lorry rides closer to the dividing line than a normal oncoming car would, so the tesla gets scared and brakes thinking it's about to get hit. Perhaps this is partly due to the software having been developed & mainly trained on wider US roads, and may improve when they focus more on narrower European roads.
  47. There's a simple table of what the tyre speed rating letters mean here.
  48. If I was you I’d probably go and spend my money at Darkside Developments.
