  1. What did I win?? Thanks, AG Falco
  2. Not me, that was @AGFalco's win, I just worked with what he provided.
  3. I also checked mine at 2 degrees ambient. No delay on washers.
  4. Cold tyres and a hot head is not a good combination.
  5. If you don't want a lifetime of pain then your idea of a trade is sensible. Trade it for a Yeti without a sunroof and your wife is still gets the pleasure of driving a Yeti but will do so with dry feet!
  6. If you want a very good mobile deterrent then you can't beat the oldskool Disklok! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371440068430 I'm afraid that speaking from the experience of living in a "nice" area with a high crime rate - if they want it then they'll take it.
  7. Well, picked up my new Superb iV L&K estate in Business Grey this morning from Rainworth Skoda in Sheffield. Very impressed so far. Got to say the journey home was not what I expected. The wife and I drove to Sheffield from Manchester this morning, setting off just after 07:30, arriving at just gone 9am for a 10 am collection appointment, We'd set off a little early due to the weather forecast. Drove over the Snake Pass, no problems, could see a little light snow covering right on the tops, but it was dry and roads clear. Set off home just before 11am, and headed back the way we'd come. It was raining a little by now. As we were passing the reservoir in the Derwent valley, the rain had changed to light snow. As we climbed, it got heavier and was starting to cover the road. We got to a set of temporary lights at some road works and could see cars turning around. a guy in a Range Rover stopped and told us about several lorries now stuck ahead, so it was a quick and easy decision to turn around and head back to Sheffield, where we picked up the M1 heading North to the M62 back to Manchester. So, the car got a longer run than intended, which I'm not complaining about. Added about an extra 50-60 miles to the trip, so in hybrid mode returned just over 50mpg average from a 75% battery on set off. Wife had the heated seat on most of the way home too! and I did try the heated steering wheel out too. As has been mentioned by others, I was a little disappointed that the removable torch has gone from the boot, but that's all I can complain about for now. It's now charging up overnight, and looking forward to the next drive.
  8. Can you explain how?
  9. It's a MY21 Karoq! Thank you. Amundsen is useful to know. To get to the settings you need to press menu and then scroll to settings and then system information
  10. You should be able to reach it through the grille, more by feel though as I doubt you'll see it. (A mirror might help). As you are only checking for loose connections it should be fine.
  11. Well 1st and 2nd converted into 8th and 9th. Bet Bottas can't believe his last 3 race finishes. Russell would have got better service if he had pulled into Kwik Fit. Perez as I keep saying needs the RBR second seat next season after that recovery drive. Massive day for Racing Point with 40 points.......at least a Mercedes engine won the race.
  12. Ergonomics are going backwards! It's much easier to control the heat/demist/face/foot distribution with a rotary knob than sliders - you remember where they 'point'. The new rotary knobs are digitised and only command an increase or a decrease. I like controls that move where you want an effect to move. I chose my kitchen hob because the four heat controls were laid out in the same pattern as the 'rings'. The great LJK Setright often wrote about this. If you ask someone who wears a digital watch the time and ask them again ten minutes later, they can't remember and have to look again. If you try this with a person wearing an analogue watch they will say, 'it's nearly ten o' clock or it's about half past three, as appropriate'.
  13. My CR140 never needed topping up with coolant in 150k miles. In that time it had a water pump and thermostat done so it would have been refilled twice by a dealer but never by me. Why do you think use coolant during a regen? Sure, the exhaust gases may cause the EGR cooler to get hotter but that shouldn't cause any coolant use.
  14. I thought it was the mother of all f**k up's
  15. WINO WINS i just had another clip done and its pretty clear here bit thanks to you...got my brain in gear.... cheers and thanks again geof
  16. Flying start from Verstappen.................flew straight off of the track.
  17. I promise you that there is no crack, you're just looking down on that right-angle feature of the casting. At the outer end of your first photo you can just make out the vertical section
  18. Shudders. Couldn't wait to ditch my top of the range Sportage. Creaking from the sunroof that dealers couldn't fix. Auto box change down problem that the dealers couldn't replicate. No fault found. Until I drove out the dealers.... A diesel "tractor" engine. Wooley steering. Nope all bad memories. My first and last Kia.
  19. 3.5.5 is the version of Skoda Connect that gets installed when installing MySkoda (with the new icon) from the App Store. 7.7.2 is the version of MySkoda (with the old icon) which gets installed from the link within Skoda Connect (the one installed by new-icon-MySkoda). I have every confidence it will all get sorted out .
  20. 4 wheel alignment required. You will need something like a Hunter 4 wheel alignment. Car will drive like a dream afterwards.
  21. Some say it breaches Data Protection to show the Name of the Technician that signed off the work or the sales person that signed in and out the car. Because held on a computer. But whatever crap it is for a Car Owner / Driver to know their car is safe, so the Data Protection could mean 'Unsafe cars incorrectly serviced or maintained on the road.' You are asking for the Service & Maintenance/ Warranty information, work done and part numbers, not some previous owners name , address or any details from their paperwork. So not a print out of their stuff. Anyhow, if no full Service History available just assume you need to do the stuff required and haggle the price accordingly. If the Trader / Dealer says they will do the work as they get it cheaper, just thank them and say take the cost they would pay for the work off the car as you can find a trusted mechanic that is cheap.
  22. Got it, thanks! I didn't look far enough, impatient? Me!?
  23. crazy. somebody somewhere has not thought this through....
  24. Its and LED module, not a bulb(s). No help with getting it off but just an FYI before you take the front end off for potentially nothing.
  25. 155mpg not bad over 39 miles although the average speed was very low.
  26. Hi shyVRS245 Very rarely had a full tank of fuel since I do mainly short trips and try to make them all battery, hence my real annoyance about the drop in battery only range. I believe at one point after a fuel tank that It was showing over 550 miles with 27 miles being battery. Currently 95% full of petrol - total range 491, of which 19 miles is battery - average 1.5 miles per kw on battery, 100% charge Overall mpg over 1300 miles, as shown on the app is 83mpg - this was with lots of short trips but 2 long trips accounting for over 800 miles, with only about 60 miles of that with any battery power.

It's not for the keys. There would have originally been a tag with the keys that many early owners lost or out aside for safe keeping and forgot to include when selling the car. I know when I traded in one Fabia for another the dealer expressed surprise that the tag was still with the spare key. Skoda customer services or a dealer will be able to supply the code but will probably need the VIN.
  28. I retract the front pistons by levering the caliper back on its slides before removing, - simples!
  29. Please delete this, or I will when I figure out how. Realised subjext has been repeated a thousand times. Sorry for not using search, was elbow deep in the glove box at the time. Cheers
  30. That part number is for Skoda spectrum alloys and are correct fitting for Yeti. I had them as winter wheels on my previous Yeti.
  31. I’ve had this happen a few times. Coolant level is fine, temp gauge is fine, but low level coolant warning light came on. To stop it happening, I unplugged the connector on top of the expansion bottle & cleaned the contact pins on the bottle & connector with a fine paint brush. There was a bit of grit around the contact pins, so removed with the brush. Warning light has never come on again.
  32. I've spent a bit of time with each brand in the VWG these last few years and the comments about the desirability to steal a skoda vehicle are spot on. At VW and Audi there'd be at least a couple of instances a month where customers would have an attempt made at having their car stolen. We'd be replacing lock sets for fun. At Audi in particular we had our own demo, courtesy and on-demand cars stolen on the regular. We had customers parking their car outside other people's houses only to find out later their house had been ransacked looking for the keys for said car too. It seems that should you own the likes of a Polo GTI, Mk7 Golf GTI/R/GTD, S3, RS3, Q3/5/7 or Leon Cupra the there's a good chance someone will try to take it off you. I've only heard of two skodas being taken in recent years: one that shared a driveway with a Golf R that they were after and the other was the result of stupidity (left the keys in the ignition). I've discussed this with customers in the past and the sad fact is you can spend £1000s on a garage, CCTV, big gates, security posts, alarms, trackers etc but all it takes is a them to catch you off guard just as you turn up at home from work or just as you get in the car in the morning. You can't have nothing these days ☹
  33. Hi e-roottoot Many thanks for the tips. I saw and test drove the two cars yesterday. Gave them a thorough (layman's) inspection. Both seem good, apart from a glaring hole in the service history of both cars. First car: ex-lease Lease Plan Uk ltd. I saw the paperwork of the servicing. The usual stuff done, including oil change on haldex at 58K miles in 2018. There's a note about recall 90k1, but I'm not sure what that is. But no evidence of servicing since 2018. No evidence that the cambelt and water pump has been done. Dual mass fly wheel replaced in 2019. There are a few small chips on the bonnet that have rust showing, and a couple more with visible metal (no rust) I found tiny rust spots on the roof. The rust can be wiped off, but a minuscule spot remained in the centre. Brake discs had quite a bit of corrosion on the outer edges. Second car: Previous owner was a private owner. According to the sales garage the service history is all digital and they can't show me any details, just give me dates of servicing. Is this normal? Why can't they print out the service record for me? It was serviced by Skoda at 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. In 2020 the sales garage gave it a check and put in new oil, filters (pollen, oil, diesel). After viewing the car I went to speak with Skoda to ask if they can give me more info on the car's service history. They were very helpful. They have no record of a service between 2018 and now (around 30K miles). No evidence of a cambelt and water pump change. So unless the sales garage can provide evidence that the car was serviced in 2019 or 2020, and that the cambelt and water pump was done, I have to assume it wasn't.
  34. ... and that's the best advice there is, professional thieves are always one step ahead of car manufacturers - but the real question is "are professional thieves interested in Skodas?". I have yet to see, hear or read any evidence that Skodas are "in the radar" of professional thieves - and if they're not then surely all OP needs to be thinking about is deterring the average scrote, and AFAIK there's no evidence that the manufacturer fitted immobiliser and alarm are insufficient?
  35. Yikes, that's a hefty bill to pick up! I've had something similar with my vw polo 1.9tdi which had an issue with the dual mass that had to be replaced twice by VW under warranty as it just kept going. It sounds like there must be some weakness in their clutch/gearbox department. Although I always thought a DSG is highly regarded due to its quality, maybe not so much for reliability... It certainly sounds like I will have to take the bitter pill and accept my faith with this one and see where I end up with the car in the long run. I love the car and everything about it, but the thought of anything else going on it so big just makes me think twice of keeping especially it being out of warranty. Will see what Skoda say on Monday regarding the final say on this and will probably take it from there. Maybe I'll end up buying something older which is cheaper to repair 😏 Thanks for the advice and your experience, it certainly helps seeing it from other people's perspective 👍

Time will tell, so I've now chosen Black Magic SE L new from stock, built early November apparently, so not even sure if in UK yet!? Its got my desired heated windscreen and virtual cockpit, DSG, Family Pack, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Front ISOFIX (surplus to requirements lol)... Here's hoping it matches what I experienced earlier!?
  37. I'm admitting nothing, but yes - I used to work for a customer of theirs and so back in 2006 or so I would be up there regularly. I went back a few summers ago with the family and we stopped for a couple of days. Drove through to Älgfjällen, was very pleasant. Also went through Landvetter earlier this year to visit a customer of my present employer and that brought back a few memories
  38. Zero snow here so far. I was bored today though and almost went for a drive as there's a ski resort an hour away (called Winterberg). It seems they have snow there at the moment. We were there a few years ago and there was over a meter of snow and drifts a few meters high. Had a Peugeot 306 1.9D that was running on veg oil... Took a bit of cranking to get it fired up 😂🤣
  39. Important clarifications added inside square brackets, as I understand the reality to be. People shouldn't be scaremongered into thinking they won't be allowed to drive anything but EVs and hybrids on the roads ten years from now, that's just not true. After all, if you buy a petrol/diesel car in 2029 you're going to be rather cross if you can only use it for one year...
  40. The one I use has a switch so consumes no current when its switched off, I leave it on so that I can see the state of charge through the passenger window, it was more visible in the console of the Octavia but this is the best location in the Yeti. It has a USB port as well, accuracy of this one spot on, the last under-read by 0.2v which is still pretty good.
  41. Here's how it looks. The wooden block is part of the support I'd made for my former Octavia. I figured it would look more solid than panel mounted directly to the aluminium sheet without any protection on the backside. The car is currently connected to the battery charger, hence the reading.
  42. @SkodaDean The Skoda system should know what servicing has been done in the past, so do you know? When was it done between 2016 and now. Oil changes each 10,000 miles and what else? What actually paid for to be done & done / replaced and shows on the Full Main Dealer Service History if there is one? (Cars on Variable / Flexible servicing might have had only one service at 2 years / 18,000-20,000 miles and be due a service now.) So, What has been changed in the past, was a pollen filter changed at 2 years. Was the brake fluid changed at 3 years. Are they going to do an Oil & Inspection Service now and the Extended Scope, and are they going to change a Fuel Filter, or Spark Plugs or Air Filter and do they need changing. You do not say what engine or gear box you have. A DSG can be due and oil change at 40,000 miles, if the car has Haldex that was due a oil change and filter clean at 3 years. This is the new Skoda Main Dealership menu for car 3-10 year old where the Minor / Interim service and Major Service has been done away with.
  43. When it happens if there are no traces of leaks or damp carpets, if the previous journey the occupants were not wearing wet coats & if the aircon was on when the engine stopped & the moisture is mainly on the front screen you dont need to be Einstein to work out what is going on.
  44. More desirable on the second hand market since it probably wasn't a taxi or a rental like many other Skodas in the first place. Only if it wasn't lowered, mapped and pedalboxed to hell.
  45. You need to get a fault scan done to show what exactly is the fault code which is causing the EML to come on.
  46. Most manuals have recently been updated. New additions:
  47. Bonnet struts, washer fluid funnel/cap and new badge on bonnet.
