  1. I've just discovered that I'm only in year two, not year 3 of my PCP, so it's going to be another year at least before I change, which considering the amount of woes and problems that first adopters are having may well be a good thing as it will give Skoda time to get their soft(firm)ware right.
  2. Here we go, looks like i'm only updating every 3 months or so........ Struggling for any enthusiasm at the moment for messing with the car, working from home for the last 12 months has seen me getting less and less bothered about it. I know it needs finishing but with not being able to drop things at suppliers, firms being closed, it's seen it sit yet again for months on end. Still, keeps the mileage down i guess.. But, i have been doing the odd bit here and there, continuing with the interior. The rear seats are still out of the car, all clean and wrapped up ready to go back in, so i've been focusing on the drivers side floor/plastics. The carpet was given a prolonged cleaning session, wet cleaned with Chemical Guys carpet solution and then extracted, looks much nicer in there. While the drivers seat is out, it was chance to address the knocked about plastic sill trim that bugged me everytime i opened the door. Various bits of damage after 15 years is to be expected. I sourced a replacement trim for both this piece and the panel underneath the seatbelt buckle, still available from TPS. Look how long it'd been on a dusty shelf in Czech Republic...... Yip, that's right, been on the shelf for nigh on 15 years... same as the other piece i bought. Needless to say was a tricky bugger to fit, but looks loads better now. Pedals have been steam cleaned and the used mat given a light hoover. I have got a new set of mats in the loft if i even need to change them in the future. The seat fixing bolts have all been cleaned up and are being painted satin black as we speak. Speaking of seats..... i have now built a bespoke adjustable subframe for a single Cobra Suzuka GT Width racing seat. The seat subframe is now being broken down into the component parts to be painted up, and the seat is going away to my trimmers next week. The plan is to have the seat covered in vRS Fabia material, in the same style as the factory road seats, so light grey outer, onyx grey inner with the VRS logo in the right place. So it will look similar but different at the same time. Time will tell if i can live with it long term but it's something i've not seen done on a Fabia before and keeps it OEM+ instead of just throwing in a black bucket seat. The seat material has been a mission to get hold of but i'm confident it'll look stunning when done. I'm toying with the idea of getting the trimmer to make an elasticated waterproof cover to fit snug over the seat to keep mucky hands off it in the garage etc. I'll get more pics up soon, promise... :-)
  3. ....if you'll stay with me 'til dawn.
  4. Let me introduce you to my project, hopefully you find it interesting. It's a ex Leicestershire Police MK1 VRS, 160k miles and a total shed! (Don't be fooled by the photos of the outside, they make it look much better then it is). I've been looking on and off for the last 10 years for one of these, from the time the early ones first started to be retired from service. My plan was always to preserve one in its original police spec, and that's what I hope to do with this. My plans are to get this back to a decent useable car first, while researching it's police history. I'd like to be able to use it without fear of catching the plague from its disgusting interior. I need to strip this out to dry it out as it's got the usual soggy footwell. I'll try to keep this thread up-to-date but it will be a slow process as I don't get much free time to work on the car. Anyway, enough waffle, here's a few pics of the car in service and also what it looks like now. If anyone happens to have any pics of the car either in service or when it was retired or knows the car and can share any history on it that would be appreciated. Credit for the in service photos goes to their owners on Flickr and Facebook
  5. Similar have been posted before but I hope this title helps people to find it. Washers packed up after a heavy frost. Checked Fuse46 which seemed like the right one, labelled 'Front and rear window washer'. It was ok. Checked voltage at the pump by pressing switch. Voltage was about 10volts but dropping to about 4. Assumed if voltage there ( I'm no electrician) then pump must be u/s. Not so. Replacement of pump made no difference. Read forum and directed to Fuse22, labelled 'Front and rear windscreen wiper system' . Fuse was blown. System worked ok again after replacing Fuse22. So check this first. Hope this helps someone.

Love the performance and the way it acts when you floor the pedal. The car seems to recoil and then shoot forward. Number 2 , the amount of people who have stopped and said wow "is that really a SKODA"!!
  7. Looks like you have three pedals. What's the third one for ?

as my dealer said, they workin 2 shifts to deliver us our cars, nothing is getting closed, that was last years post
  9. Rusty door shuts. Did attempt to repair myself. You've got to try right? But alas, it didn't last and it came back again about a year later. So a quick visit to TPSmart repair... Top job. They also repaired the sills along the front as those were pretty rusted. Cut it all out and put new metal in. Next up, new side skirts and VRS door bump strips. Still trying to find a half decent VRS rear bumper, which hasn't been rammed into everything... - In other, cleaned up the old mans Octi engine bay. - Finally fitted the new engine mounts. Not driven much since putting them in. Have noticed the cabin is louder with vibrations, but it doesn't really bother me. Its only really noticeable whilst at a standstill. - Other bits to maybe mention on. Trying out an Ultragauge. Still not got rubber for the new wheels. Had a small slip on some diesel into a muddy bank. Fitted a VRS front. And not pictured, managed to rust treat most of the underside and added a layer of waxyoil. That wasn't a fun task... Rear subframe is far too rusted for my liking. Next month, we're going down the Verkline route :
  10. Good morning, just to let you know, that my cabin heating issue is solved. the problem was with the shut off valve N82 (and not cutt-off valve ), that was blocked in close position on idle! Replaced the valve (4H0121671D), and now I have cabin heating after only 1-2 km instead of 15 km. Thank you all for the support, and have a nice weekend!!

  12. Just had my car remapped by remapkings and the difference is night and day. You can feel the extra torque starting low down in the rev range , much quicker and a big improvement. Only other change is replacing the air filter with a standard replacement k@n filter, also running on 99 momentum. The car is a 2014 1.2 tsi and was 85hp, now in the region of 130hp.

OK, many of us have had more than our fair share of gripes and problems with our shiny new Mk4 Octavia. But if your experience is anything like mine there are many things to like about the cars, even the most irksome ones. To lighten the spirits over the weekend how about we each list the three things we like best about our cars. A moan free zone, and an opportunity to indulge on the nicer side of owning the car. So grab a glass of your favourite tipple 🍷 and share our enjoyment. At some point in over the next week or so I'll consolidate the lists and see if there's a patten emerging. To kick off the proceedings here's mine Fuel economy (1.5Tsi Manual - about 50-54mpg so far) ACC (esp. the speed limiter when on a steep descent & gear change without disabling it - SO much better than the basic CC on my previous motor. I guess I might be in a minority of one here! ) Memory drivers seat with key assignment Over to you guys...
  14. I'll be honest, I booked these in last year around black friday time as I was wanting some better suspension. I found the OEM setup far too high, far too unsure and when paired with H&R springs, it overcame the aesthetic issue and eliminated a tiny bit of body roll, but was still very crashy (maybe even more so than before). Added a whiteline 24mm adjustable rear ARB (for sale BTW ) and that was a huge improvement to turn in, but the ride just got to me after a while. It felt stuck in the middle - wasn't comfortable but wasn't sharp or performance orientated either. I put an order in for some B14 Bilsteins, but some reviews made me question this choice. They dropped only a bit lower than the H&R and at this height, they're maxed out and therefore the ride suffers. So I cancelled that order (with a well known garage only minutes away) and spoke to Alex at AKS tuning (3 hrs away). He convinced me that H&R monotubes were much better, they drop more, are less bouncy and are a very capable set of suspension. However they're a good few quid more than the B14. After a couple of chats with owners who have the H&R I was convinced and put an order in. While the car was on the ramps etc I thought I might as well get a set of H&R uprated roll bars (28mm front and 26mm rear) too, to match. Anyway, after a few rescheduled appts due to covid - I went over and had them all fitted. I admit I was a little apprehensive still, thinking I might have completely ruined the 'dad bus' and would be bouncing all the way home. But! I couldn't have been more wrong. Just wow, the ride is actually better than it was when it was on the OEM shocks and H&R springs. I cannot believe how much these upgrades have improved the whole car. Steering - bit heavier and much nicer feel to it. A lot more confident/connected feeling Turn in - think it's more to do with the ARB's but wow, you throw this in corners now and it does exactly what you tell it to. No disappointing understeer, rolling around in my seat, leaning on my door for support or anything like that anymore. Ride comfort - obviously it's no limousine, the car sits pretty low but the damping and the springs are matched up so I can feel that it's doing what it should. Yes, down a bumpy b road you are going to feel how firm it is, but it's not as bad than being flung around like before. On the motorway and A roads drive home, it was perfect. Feels so planted and still a compliant/comfortable drive, for sure. Grip - the car now grips much better. No crazy banging or spinning when putting your foot down. The tyres stay rooted to the ground and it's massively better Acceleration/braking - braking is improved and more surprisingly, acceleration feels much better too and a lot smoother Looks - I've had them set to have the arches sit on top of the tyre (235 35 19). there's plenty more to go, but I don't want to rip my mudflaps or expensive splitter off! I've since taken the wheels off and coated the bodies and springs in ACF50 - to keep away the corrosion from UK rain, winters and road salt. So, would I recommend them? Absolutely 100%. They're expensive but for me, on a car of this age it's still a small fraction of the cost of the car (man maths) so it's not bad at all! If you're going to be fully loading your car with kids and luggage, maybe not such a good idea. But for folk who want their car to perform as it (really) should, then do it. It's so much more fun.
  15. Hi, My wife and I bought our Yeti SE L 2.0L diesel 2WD in black back in July 2016. Having bought 14 brand new cars since 1990 this Yeti is by far the best car we've ever had and joy to own; the only thing I dislike about it is the stop/start function which I switch off every time I start the engine. Usually we keep a car until the first MOT is needed but we love this Yeti so much it's a keeper unless it starts to cost a lot in repairs. It's always main dealer serviced by DM Keith's in Wakefield and I look after it so it's still like new with less than 26,000 on its clock I've received an email from DMK saying the cambelt is due for replacing. The next service and MOT are due in July so I've booked it in for July for cambelt; water pump; service and MOT all to be done together saving hassle and DMK are collecting and returning it all for a total of £826. Depreciation reduces year on year and it has GAP insurance cover value £14,000 until July next year. What a shame Skoda dropped the Yeti from production; we'd have definitely bought another when ours neared 3 years old. Funds aren't a problem but browsing the web looking at new modern cars my eyes glaze over and I become bored. Most modern cars are just clones of each other; full electric or hybrid hold no appeal at all. Ideally we'd like a new Yeti without lots of electronics; we never use the Infotainment but we can dream on. Normally we travel a maximum 7,000 miles each year but because of Covid lockdown it will be considerably lower over the last year. Into lockdown last year we take this very seriously; the exhaust icon lit up on the dash meaning a decent run was needed our Yeti being the Adblue model; I must be the only one on the planet to have opened a police chatline requesting permission to take the Yeti on a decent run which was granted as long I was alone and didn't meet anyone; I took images of the icon lit and the mileage before departing then another image showing the icon out and the new mileage. Over the top maybe but I was covered in case I was pulled over. Following a tip I bought the following to try; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POORBOYS-BLACK-HOLE-SHOW-GLAZE-473ML-HIDE-SWIRLS-AND-IMPERFECTIONS-DETAILING/302087989807?epid=1230988384&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4655d8ea2f:g:EwcAAOSwip5cSDrn&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACgBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkpFtSR0CGv%2Bh98r8Yb9quS4O8hjFcKmTKABV6%2F9dLqHhynqpAhVM0YqL%2BCDi7qVfjUzhZorjhsqhfF1LHk6O0vDUtN984PiAh%2Br0F7i5eX7toFgxyrZPtHq1hTNBAmkGgZxR6JOAVv%2F7KPlB7VjEA8aCQ0KvBTGYzY%2F6E9arAO9LfdXo4Eu5L3Oev7ZdRuvkX56u0OZE%2BtCOhaWgK0kJFpOy%2BlOiy5tkGoyHt9Cw8xud%2BPRtfLBxDPF37%2BqRsh%2BQdKGDZLW%2FDjUZ%2FDQ9eye8FYZ02%2F49ws8Jk82VKGAbIVADbXt6FzfxT3WyboK6OV7%2BjyZ3WJjarwrG%2FFgSa33VWWuNc6qmjzmA793KB%2BI0Q48uHJN5OctON1LnCypjj3XmpRmTNrE%2FYoXKfrxkR60T5rGkUQwlGQLtnHFHmby93SS0yPuJfd1JvNB0tOi%2BMFqGJMkp2n9vSARHinWVHSTkIeAejQgitqx774DtO9u2vFyjEIY0TFJYG04CAj%2FhOefI1O4w6c7ZVwQrBuetWi65iW3E27ZPvSxSm4U%2F3sLqGthd7W6iGbBPT3oJF8crun8eUExGZSq0L8c7rlgz5YvEOdCQHZsYYSVHjIyTcNtHH%2FWH9NpUnoqXsRzBmr3%2FEOpfacW4B5AVKsXslXgizFwQZclGbtuLZhMHV%2Fttn6gJmxQhVILcXqFAR2Lb%2BlYH9kPPl4LwwaKC93vQyBjL4msRL2hiFtzgd3UTVTfAy9U4wt0WOBFXbBzB1qSWxcwAzDVsuGbLiJ9ywl%2F82V5RS5M%2F86N3a%2B0rG%2Fj2%2BthK%2F71DREBM%3D|cksum%3A3020879898077dc6ebe63a6844a2ab0ea1c169891ae8|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524 I used it for the first time this week and I'm impressed; normally if the Yeti is dirty I use bucket/sponge/leather but if not too dirty Williams waterless wash wax; the bodywork upholstery were treated from new so the Yeti is still gleaming. Two years ago we treated it to a set of Michelin Cross Climate tyres fitted on our driveway by "Tyres on the drive" costing £600; we've had little snow since. I'm just rambling on after a week of hard grafting in the garden; it's raining at the moment and a black hole so I don't feel like doing much. Kind regards, Colin.
  16. Wish I’d not read this after almost convincing myself that I don’t need coilovers 😂 but I completely agree with the H&R Spring and OEM setup you describe, it’s not great and sometimes on a bumpy B road (Northumberland’s are getting really bad) I find I have to hold back as the car bounces about. Yours is sitting perfect now, and a really sound review of the whole experience 👍.
  17. You're all a bunch of hysterical gurls, you don't know what true lift-off oversteer is until you've driven a 205 GTI in anger and experienced the trouser-filling terror that comes from trying to get it back in line while watching the scenery coming toward you through the side window! Yes I broadsided a 205 and got it back pointing the right way.
  18. Just for you https://photos.app.goo.gl/Uvts7t32PB2q3uDG9
  19. Ah - the insurance woes. I seem to recall the premium difference between the 110PS and the 95PS was marginal although my daughter is now 23 and that might have a bearing. Interestingly, when I learned to drive the Mk1 Golf GTi was the hot hatch and had about 110PS - no one would have let a 17 year old loose in a MK1 GTi but my daughter drove my 100PS 1.9Tdi fabia 1 and the 1.2 110PS that I replaced it with. Mind you, the Mk1 GTi was probably a lot luighter and more nimble but still.
  20. You are more than welcome DM ..... Now that stance looks right ....!! That gives me a real feel good factor to see her sitting so well . Nice to see the wee car coming round....!! She looks like she has just come off Kielder in the RAC rally ! I asked my brother one time what would he do if a bird shat on his motor - He said he would finish with her If anybody else is reading this and has any Fabia specific items that would do another turn then don't forget DieselMonte - Remember this is a learning experience and any donations or help you can give PM him.... !

First hand wash and wax ... Love a clean black car.
  24. I’m still here mate, keep it going! I always look forward to reading your updates 👍🏼
  25. Does it make any difference if you are reversing in a straight line or turning? If the differential is undamaged it should not make any difference if the Haldx coupling is engaged or disengaged. It does sound disturbing, try to have someone look at each rear wheel for signs of snatch or wind up when reversing especially if it is worse on a curved trajectory. Have you by any chance paid a garage to change the Haldex fluid recently before this manifested? Are the grinding noises from the front or rear? Disconnecting the propshaft will prove definitively if its a front or rear transmission problem, I had a similar problem with the rear diff on a Suzuki Jeep, in order to be able to get to work that week I removed the propshaft and drove with FWD only with the 4WD lever engaged on the transfer box.
  26. Same here, too. Our Yeti has just entered its seventh year, and we plan to keep it for a few years more. Just about to renew the extended warranty: all component cover for £180 a year is a no-brainer, given that almost ANY repair, however minor is going to cost that. (Not that I've ever had to use the extended warranty....nothing ever goes wrong..... OOPS, shouldn't have said that!). There's just no other car on the market that would replace the Yeti... and why are ALL cars today so ugly...all covered with bling and with horrible wheels? Whatever happened to elegant looking cars (not that the Yeti is elegant, but it is at least pleasing to look at, and so delightful to drive). No, we'll save our cash and hang on to the Yeti while she still behaves herself.
  27. Done! https://youtu.be/ybRPBTotKMw Well some coding to do to get the taillights to their proper brightness (something called dimmwert needs to be changed from 100 to 127), but I'll do that once the rain stops
  28. Actually you are in a very strong position legally, as the car is not as advertised If it was advertised with a picture of a towbar included, then that is part of the sales advert Therefore I think you can do rather better than £250 I suggest you point this out to the dealer and suggest he changes his compensation 3 fold to nearer £750 You don't need to feel charitable towards the dealer, if seller misled him, they can sue seller to recover the £750 A properly fitted, fully coded towbar is likely to be nearer £600 (or more), so don't settle for less than £600
  29. Okay - cue the music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbD_kBJc_gI
  30. I’d be more concerned about the reason why it wasn’t there!
  31. Has the car had the Emissions Fix.....? That was recognised as being responsible for many EGR valve failures. For a time VAG were replacing them as a good will measure.
  32. Which means that to get to the EGR valve some of the transmission system has to be removed, which is why it is so expensive.
  33. Thanks for this, that explains it. From what I've read the dealers are suggesting 4 to 5 hours Labour plus the cost of the part 😣 maybe it's time to trade for a manual box ££££
  34. £5.88 for the seal, some transmission fluid and labour, £3000 sounds about right!
  35. I know, and I already told you the answer. No.
  36. Sorry. Slow to the discussion. I have a 110PS SEL with the 6 speed gearbox. My daughter has a MKIII with the 95PS 5 speed gearbox. Round town I don't notice much difference. On the motorway I would rather be in mine than hers. The extra gear makes for much more relaxed driving at motorway speeds - lower engine speed, lower noise and much less of a rushed feeling.
  37. The seals can be replaced in situ. I wish I could recall @sepulchrave's definition of a mechanic that he recently wrote. I found it! I hope he does not mind me reproducing it. Garages are mongs, they just change whatever the reader says is wrong, they play parts bingo with your money, next it would be the throttle body, then the pedal assembly, then the ECU. I know how their primitive reptile brains work, they don't do the job to fix your car, they do it to get paid, fixing your car is incidental.
  38. I’ve had mine 6 days now, done 93 miles in it. But on reading this thread it seems others have owned theirs longer than that........
  39. It's one of the best and easiest handling mods you can do. No effect on ride quality or ground clearance, just a noticeable reduction in roll at the back, the handling is unbalanced without one frankly because the front doesn't roll but the back does horribly making the car feel like it's twisting in the middle.
  40. http://www.oemepc.com/skoda/part_single/catalog/sk/markt/CZ/modell/RO/year/2012/drive_standart/699/hg_ug/837/subcategory/837000/part_id/2581653/lang/e I'd think that one: http://www.oemepc.com/tvn_result/search/tvn/5J2837016A assuming RHD right door with remote central locking. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/5J2837016A
  41. All these technical woes with Mk4s certainly seem to be concerning. Since the announcement of the New Octavia, I have always considered the Mk4 my next car. However reading all the threads regarding glitches with, overly complicated tech, I feel that keeping hold of my reliable 4 and half year old Octavia 3 might be a better course of action, for the time being.
  42. someone did it in Poland: The topic is here https://superbclub.pl/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=12814
  43. From the factory to the dealership it is on Variable / flexible, so 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles. If it was changed to Fixed Servicing at the dealership it is 372 days / 9,400 miles. *You should have been asked if you wanted it on Fixed Servicing / Oil & Filter changes.*
  44. Just realised that I hadn't posted the photos after the obligatory lockdown detailing session! Enjoy 😎
