  1. My new to me sportline ....
  2. After 4 yrs, and almost 55k kms, the factory Pirelli P7 has done it's time and has been replaced with ContiMaxContact6 tyres. While I was at, changed the tyre profile to 245/40R19, saving more than a hundred bux a tyre! With the car already lowered on Eibach Springs, I had to remove my rear 15mm spacers as they scrubbed a little while turning or going over speed bumps with passengers in the back! Front is great. Just a wee bit too much poke at the rear.....
  3. Had it lowered last Wednesday. It now looks better, drives better. Should have it done earilier.

Passed 100,000 miles in my ownership last week. Six and a half years that's taken. Been a bloody good car this.

6.5Jx17 ET41 and 7Jx17 ET40 are standard options on the Superb MK3. https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/superb/2020/ There's also a 6.5Jx17 ET38 rim from the Kodiaq that will fit, but don't use Kodiaq tyre sizes as the outside diameters are too big. https://www.oponeo.pl/felga-stalowa/alcar-kfz-9021#21964794
  6. I object - How dare the United Kingdom advertise itself on my registration plates without my permission!!
  7. I don't have an Enyaq, but its elder brother - ID.4. I have found after my DSG Karoq that the driving experience is very similar, but acceleration better. I think the acceleration is better due to no gear changes or wait for turbo boost and it certainly gives confidence. Over time I've got very confident in the range available, its been very consistent over the 3.4K miles we've done. So confident that we've spent the weekend away in an area with no chargers, confident we had 'motoring around' miles and enough to get home again. (which we did without drama). Recently have started using eco mode as we've been using the car's punch more than really needed on hills. Eco blunts the acceleration a bit but gives better efficiency. From what I'm seeing on-line the Enyaq 60s are giving better m/kWh than the ID.4s which is probably due to the lighter weight battery and slightly better aerodynamics. Its very noticeable that most Enyaqs seem to be the 60 version.
  8. I bought Sally a new rose for her Birthday in March. It came in a jiffy bag from an online supplier. No rootball or soil, just a rather sad looking 10" long twig. It started to sprout within days of planting, and has produced two amazing flowers. It's still so young it's too slight to hold up the blooms, but gets full marks for its efforts so far: Gaz
  9. I finally got around to using the autoglym ceramic HD I've had in the garage for a year! I'm fairly impressed as applied, let's see how long it lasts.
  10. I've had my car for 12 months now, and due to a combination of lockdown and horrific family circumstances, I've only driven about 1000 miles in my year of ownership. I'm preparing for our annual holiday and I'll be able to have a good drive down to South Wales. I'm really looking forward to driving on those Welsh roads. Also really excited about going a bit nuts in sport mode. That said, I'm also a bit twitchy about driving my car though winding thin country lanes, being forced into hedges to squeeze past oncoming vehicles. But beyond that, I'm also vaguely apprehensive about whether I'm going to enjoy throwing my new car around Wales as much as I enjoyed my old. I could really push my old car, as I knew how it behaved on the limit, and even when sliding, it slid very predictably and progressively. I've no idea who ESC feels on the limit, so it's going to be interesting learning about how it affects the handling of the car. I also don't know how the Octavia feels when it's just about to let go. Hopefully it's safe and predictable, and doesn't do anything sudden and alarming. I'll certainly be a bit more cautious as I get to know the car, not least as it's so bloody expensive to sort out, whereas the old one was effectively disposable. This is the one time of year when I'll possibly be wistfully regretting being sensible, and not getting the vRS. Talking of wistful thinking, I don't think I quite max'd my old car and I'm pretty sure I won't be maxing this one, either. It used to be a bit of a rite of passage when getting a new car: taking it somewhere relatively safe to see just how fast the thing would actually go. Then the top speeds of cars started soaring. Amazing to think neither the Mk1 Golf GTI or the Escort XR3i could crack 120mph. Now a base 1.0L Octavia can top that. How times change. As you can probably tell, I'm really winding down for my holiday and really looking forward to going away for a week.
  11. I am awaiting a call from the garage to upload SOS infotainment software fix, nothing yet. But in the meantime if you press the red sos call button above your head and then cancel the call when you hear the voice option to cancel. You should find that this clears the SOS fault and resets the infotainment system. - until the next time it glitches
  12. The bottle cost £59 with £10 back on return of bottle. Says it can top up 3 cars ! Herein probably is my mistake, probably have been better to get car gassed up at garage and saved bottle for what it was designed for - top ups.
  13. I believe you can buy access to the News and Weather apps in the Skoda "Shop" but only if you have the Columbus infotainment system in the Karoq.
  14. works fine on mine😀
  15. You cannot rely on that guage, the low side pressure is directly proportional to the ambient temperature, if you are filling while the aircon pump is running (as you should) the low side pressure reading will be low. Think of the system as having a low and high side (which it does) at rest the pressure is equal in both circuits and your guage reading should be compared to a temperature/pressure chart, when the system pumps the pressure in the high side goes up and of course the low side, the suction side of the pump will go down. Pressure readings are very crude and need to be done with a manifold set reading both high and low circuits, the correct way to charge the system is by weight, I dont have refrigerant recovery equipment so have to rely on my guages but its very crude, in any case to judge when to stop filling its the high side pressure and to a lesser degree its relation to the low side that I will be looking at. Today at 22°c I would be looking for 70-80 psi low side pressure with the system not having been running for at least an hour to enable the pump internals and the system to equalise to the ambient temperature. The above pressures/temperature is for R134a, you are most likely trying to top it up with flammable iso-propane gas which will have a different temp/pressure graph, there is no way that you can guesstimate what the static pressure should be with your potentially explosive mix of gases. As has been said one can is unlikely to fill your system anyway, they tell lies with the content weight often including the weight of the can, and in any case the nearer your system gets to the correct pressure the less you get out of each can, the final one unlikely to give more than 50% of its contents. Frankly you would be better off without a guage as I was when like you I learned the hard way about these top up cans, I just kept filling and changing the cans until I heard the fans cut in & felt the system start to cool, that is only the minimum charge for the system to barely work, you need to add a lot more than that but have no way of knwoing when to stop.
  16. Take my feedback as tongue in cheek. I do agree the system is inferior & lacking in functions compared to other systems, although I've never had problems with postcodes. For me, it's just convenient to have a built in system.
  17. Neutradol spray into the a/c on recirc is what I would do.
  18. There are plenty of stop-start memory devices around. They connect between the button and the car and effectively press the button for you when the car starts Just as an example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001012474153.html

    thanks for the wheel size link which suggests for the 280 4x4 (2018 for me) the following: 215/55ZR17 94W 7Jx17 ET40 235/45ZR18 94W 8Jx18 ET44
  20. Sorry no idea, obviously double, treble check you're putting the right numbers in, get someone else to check just in case, always check at source (the "plate") rather than any copies, we all make mistakes but sometimes they're difficult for us to see and we can copy mistakes from others without realising it. Or contact the dealership or Skoda UK, it's new car after all.
  21. Have a look at page 31 of the Mk4 brochure, which gives dimensions including the boot, then compare it with your Mk 3 measurements. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/0bcfc2d5-654f-49b2-a524-91e141293e36
  22. I can relate to OP here, as I found I didn't "love" my car. But then I remembered I didn't buy my car with my heart, it was very much a car bought with my head. When I think about the alternatives, there still isn't anything objectively better for me than the car I bought. In fact when I was at the dealer looking at it, after a lot of uhming and ahing, I had to concede that I couldn't think of a reason not to buy the car. Once I got it into my head that my Octavia was bought as a solution to a variety of problems, not food for the soul, I learned to appreciate it more. It does exactly what I bought it to do, and hasn't done anything I didn't want it to do. That'll do me. (That said, it's only done 1K miles in the last year, so it's still early days.)
  23. Hahahaha so funny. After 90 minutes of multimeter testing, scrabbling around the footwell, then reading wiring diagrams, it was a fuse. Yes there appears to be a fuse that serves just one tail light.
  24. U Reads like an accident waiting to happen in Wales !
  25. I've driven that engine in a Golf hatchback before... I can only really describe it as underwhelming. Hopelessly wheezy performance, no grunt at any revs and fuel economy was awful too. So it basically comes down to it being a very old tech engine with not much going for it. It doesn't come down to engine size. The 1.6 TDI is leaps ahead of the petrol. It has a decent amount of grunt to it. To compare the two engines: 1.6 FSI 1.6 TDI 115ps (6000rpm) 105ps (4000rpm) 155nm (4000rpm) 250nm (1900rpm) So the key there being the torque. In the diesel it achieves peak torque from 1900rpm compared to 4000rpm. And it has 100nm more than the petrol. I'd also be asking if you really do need a diesel though. The 1.6 comes with a DPF that doesn't like short journeys all the time. So if you're only doing the odd longer journey a petrol may still be the better choice. In which case a 1.4 TSI may also be a consideration. I've been on holiday a few times in ours with 3 adults, a dog, a boot FULL (estate too) and 3 bikes on the tow bar. Not once did it feel underpowered and didn't need to downshift on motorway hills. Handled some mountain roads with ease too.
  26. MOST (optical databus), not used in Fabia but used in other cars that can be equipped with the same infotainment unit (Octavia, Superb, Kodiaq, Karoq)
  27. Eibach Pro Kit spring with DCC
  28. That's Great plan. Originally I wanted original kevlar carbon WRC wing
  29. I took delivery of my second Octavia a little over a month ago. Not a VRS as I am changing my approach to car ownership. The first Octavia, now 17 years old is still going strong and is owned by a relative. The new Octavia replaced a Volvo V90. Had two of them. The Octavia has a bigger boot (I know I know), the infotainment works, not overly complex and doesn't reboot every other drive. As much room, no badge snobbery and it just does everything really really well. 360m drive, yep no problem and 48mpg in a petrol. Prefer it to the Touareg I had for many years too. Its a Q car. Enjoy that.
  30. Totally agree with @ahenners I'm interested in cars, not a petrol head, and certainly a" function, over form" type of person. Of all the cars I've owned my l Octavia estate has been nothing but a pleasure since I purchased in 2019. A few VCDS Tweaks made it all that better in subtle ways. It's just got bags of features that you just can't find elsewhere. My 2.0 TDI dsg eats miles driving for work, has a versatile, (variable boot floor) huge boot for all manner of jobs at work or at home. You can have a bit of fun with the torque it can deliver, or sedately trundle about if you feel like it. Not being a VRS it's not amazing to look at, but I'm inside it not outside 😃 Tech is just right on my 2016 SEL. I'm probably one of the very few on here that don't even mind the way the SATNAV is operated/performs you just need to RTFM....over and over for a while! I love the dash layout, I looked at much more expensive Passats before I took the plunge and they were just so bland.. Even the indicator tick makes me smile (but that probably because my wife's Citroen has the most irritating tick ever). Stick with and stick around on here, you won't regret it... we'll keep telling you not to leave

Doorsill scuff plates fitted from ali express - look good but not sure about durability!
  32. Yes mate, see the photo attached! House cable rod straight through the grommet was the perfect diameter to take the two cables, also make sure you go high up on the groomer that way when the water runs off the screen and out of the scuttle it won’t make its was into the cabin!
  33. A guy called Joey owns this, I don't think he's had it for long, mind you, a year or two. I've seen it around, doesn't seem to be ragged about and posted about, or for it to be bouncing off the limiter. Best way to know is go view it and see how it is.
  34. Remarkable storms and rain throughout the day on Sunday, but things brightened up considerably by the evening VID_20210704_175256.mp4
  35. Er, the substances sold as antifreeze / "summer coolant", be they glycol or OAT based, are all additives, specifically "water wetters". I'll agree the 50/50 mix ratio as long as you agree to stop misusing words in what is a second language to both your primary respondent and yourself.

Back in a skoda after 10 years very impressed so far 👍
  37. I came to the Superb from 10yrs of two Volvo XC60's, fancying a change after nearly 20yrs of SUV driving and haven't regretted it. The car is aptly named and you get an awful lot for the money. It certainly didn't seem like a step down from my 5yr old Volvo, techwise it it was quite a step up but it is noisier and Volvo are renowned for the comfort of their seats and though the Skoda are certainly not uncomfortable, they're not really in the same league. My only real gripe is with the DSG box (7 speed on the 1.5 petrol), it's mostly very good when you're moving but there is something of a lag when you're pulling out at junctions or roundabouts, you can almost count to 2 before anything happens when you press the go pedal! Same with kickdown for an overtake. Recently, having having reached the grand old age of 3 score years and 10, and adjusted from SUV to Estate I decided to push the boat out and look at an “upgrade” to an Audi A6 or BMW 5 series, both PHEV. Tested both and to me the bimmer edged it by a fair bit. The A6 was a very classy, quiet and pokey, though less roomy Superb, being VAG the layout was similar if very much more refined. The 5 series was a better driving car, IMHO, and was ever so slightly more upmarket than the A6 let alone the Superb. As others have said, new you're comparing Aldi to Waitrose, Primark to Next. If 2nd hand there isn't the same price differential I'd be very surprised if you didn't find the BMW better to drive, quieter, classier in the interior and less roomy than the Superb. That's not a criticism of the Skoda, just a reflection of what you would expect given the price differential when new.

My not quite a classic yet 'Old Barge' (Gone but not forgotten) Vitesse model, tinkered up to 240bhp at the flywheel.
  39. Those that were attracted to Mk4 Octavia's probably think they are still an exciting car to have owned or still own as they wave them goodbye having rejected them or visited around the back of a dealership where the sit for weeks waiting on Skoda coming up with the promised Updates to Software or hardware. The boring cars that go on and on for a long time are often still Toyota's. They can have their issues but then the Senior Management @ Toyota are made to fess up.
  40. Some pics of my 3 month old superb. Loving the car. Wife tried to convince me to buy it in business grey but fancied a change after a few grey and black cars. Didn't fancy paying the premium on velvet red so race blue it was.
  41. Somehow I don't believe that you do know the speed limit at all times, since you didn't know that a speed limit can change without the new limit being signposted. (Hint, the existence or otherwise of a 30mph limit is dependent on the existence or otherwise of lamp posts, and on their separation where they exist).
  42. Do you know what the speed limit is at all times? Did you know that the speed limit on a road can change without the change being signposted?
  43. This, of course, is the ideal solution... but I reckon every driver does, or has, exceeded the speed limit. Sometimes without realising it's crept up. A warning could be useful if only as a reminder to pay closer attention...
  44. Just a late evening wash last night after the heat of the day had settled down. Off down to Devon for the week soon, so always nice to have a clean car for the trip.
  45. By the way I love Skoda's and I've had loads and this is my first ever problem. I will still buy another Skoda 😁
  46. I was looking for a link to the handbook for a Mk 3 Fabia but could not find one However I thought this might be useful: Handbook for every Skoda model past and present .......except the Fabia 3 https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models Since writing the above, I have found the handbook for Fabia 3 model year 16. Unfortunately it is a bigger file size (33Mb) than the max allowed as an attachment on this forum (10Mb) Anyone wants a copy, please directly email me your request.
  47. I wondered about this for quite some time. Because my car doesn't get used much and therefore not that dirty, I tend to give it a quick (less than half bottle) going over on the DRY car. Rinse that off and snow-foam again (with the remainder in the bottle) onto the WET car. The car is fairly clean now and I can either move on to the TBM or sometimes I'll just use the lance again but this time with shampoo in the bottle. I'll spray a couple of panels and then wash with a wet mitt / pad and go around the car like that. Not bothering with any buckets at all. A much quicker method that.
  48. @GamesGoblin i sent you link on PM for MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0367T but I am afraid it will not support AID. Solution is to exchange it to MY18 unit or upgrading to MY18 SW, e.g. MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0478T, however this requires hacking of your friend's unit. Pls contact me on PM for details. @contruk27 check your PM
